About: I’ve had dogs my entire life and grew up caring for several pets at home. Although I’m new to professional pet sitting, I’m very comfortable with feeding, walks, playtime, routines, and giving animals lots of love and attention. My husband and I truly love animals and enjoy being around them My husband works from home, and I’m usually home as well, so pets will have plenty of company and supervision throughout the day. Our weekdays are very flexible, and we can easily adapt our routine to give pets the care, attention, walks, and comfort they need. I provide a calm, safe, and loving environment for pets. I pay close attention to routines, feeding schedules, walks, comfort, and supervision. Since I’ve always lived with dogs, I understand how important patience, affection, and trust are when caring for animals.

“Ruthy was great with how she handled the dogs - mine is small compared to Milo - & I really appreciated her flexibility. Her decision to keep her prices low means that I can afford to have Gabby in day care while I'm working to support myself. I'm really grateful she's doing this :-]”

About: **Available after 3pm on M,Tu,W,Th, Anytime on F,Sat,Sun** I’ve cared for dogs my whole life and have always loved being around animals. Growing up, I regularly helped care for my family’s dogs whenever they needed support, which gave me plenty of hands-on experience with feeding, walking, playing, and making sure pets feel safe and loved. I’m also a cat parent to my two kitties, Michi and Kiki, whom I’ve raised since they were just 8 weeks old. They’ll soon be two years old! I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and treat every pet with the same love and attention I give my own. I am currently a master’s student at UC Berkeley. Most days of the week, I end classes at 1pm, so I will be available after that, Sundays and Saturdays the whole day! I have a large apartment for your pup to play in! I also have an outside space for your pup to play in with supervision. Your pet will be my priority during our time together, and rest assured that they will be treated with the utmost respect, love, and kindness!

“Latricia is a wonderful pet sitter. She made me and my family feel comfortable from the time we met her. She was super professional and invited us in with open arms. I felt totally safe leaving my two French bulldogs with her and will definitely be booking her again.”

“Baxter has stayed Andrea and her pups twice for daycare, with hopefully more days to come! Andrea has a gentle, kind spirit and seems very attuned to a dog's needs. At our meet & greet, she asked great questions about Baxter and his routines. She provided fun updates with pics a few times a day -- much appreciated!”

“We’ve done vacation boarding, but suddenly needed some day care when we were having workers in the house. Anthony and Nikita kindly hosted Bear on short notice, which was much appreciated!”

“Brittany was really nice and our dog Burt seemed to do really well with her! At drop off he just went right with her! He got a few walks in and got along with Brittany's dog Basco. Burt generally prefers chill-er companions and it seems like Basco was that. Would definitely return to Brittany for future care.”

About: Hi there! We’re a married couple with no kids, and dogs have always been a big part of our lives. We both grew up in households our whole lives caring for pups of all sizes from energetic German Shepherds, playful Shitzus, and sweet Golden Retrievers! Between Edelis and I, we have over 20 years of experience. After recently moving from LA, we spend our weekends exploring new parks, new neighborhoods, and staying active outdoors around SF. We miss having our own fur babies around, so we’re excited to share our home and plenty of love with yours! Whether it’s long walks, playtime, or cozy downtime, your dog will be treated like family ❤️ Our weekdays are structured yet flexible, and our weekends are completely dedicated to pets. Edelis works downtown Tuesday through Friday from 9–5 as a Family Nurse Practitioner, and I work from home a standard 9–5 schedule at a tech company as a Monetization Strategy Manager. Your pup’s safety and comfort are our top priorities. We live in a clean, non-smoking, dog-friendly one-bedroom apartment with a private outdoor patio. Our home is very tidy, pet-safe, and stays comfortable year round with AC and heating. We’re right across from Patricia’s Green dog park and just a 10-minute walk to Alamo Square Park, so daily walks and park time are part of the routine. Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Oakland
I felt a little unsure of dropping my dog off to someone I didn't know but started to feel more comfortable the more I spoke with Hye. Then Rudy, my pup, and I met Hye in person and we both were put very much at ease. Hye and Rudy hit it off immediately and I was fine leaving him with her. Hye updated us with photos and really "loved" Rudy and my wife and I were able to relax and enjoy our evening. I would totally recommend Hye and her husband for the care of their family member.

Alejandra was amazing! We did a meet and greet beforehand that lasted about an hour, and she immediately made me feel comfortable. Poe is a total Velcro dog, so I was honestly really anxious about leaving him while I traveled for work. Knowing he would be with someone who works from home and had a rooftop dog park gave me so much peace of mind. She went above and beyond with updates and photos throughout the day, and it was obvious she genuinely cared about making sure Poe was happy and comfortable. Every time I picked him up, he was relaxed and happy. I couldn't have asked for a better experience, and I wouldn't hesitate to leave Poe with Alejandra again!

Nati watched Nora recently and took great care of her. She took Nora out on a few walks, and was thoughtful, communicative, and easy to coordinate with. The entire experience was easy and reassuring and I'll definitely be booking w/ her again for longer/overnight stays.

Michelle has been boarding our dog Katsu for years and he always has a great time! Recently we adopted a second dog, and Maki and Katsu both got to spend a few days with Michelle for doggy day care. We always trust Michelle and her family to take good care of our dogs.

Matthew and Van Joseph were fantastic dog sitters! They not only took great care of my dog, but also gave me a peace of mind with frequent updates and clear communication. My dog can be nervous in new environments, but felt right at home with Matthew and VJ! 10/10 highly recommend!

Sarah was wonderful with Bijou! He is a well-behaved dog but has a ton of energy, and it was clear that Sarah understood his personality perfectly. You could easily tell from the pictures she shared that he was having a blast. She took him on a couple of walks, and he came home completely happy and tired out from all the fun. I highly recommend Sarah for doggy day care and will definitely use her services again!

Amber helped me by watching my two little doggies for back to back 12 hour days! My sitter at my departure city fell through and I had to bring my doggies to the SF area, but had nonstop events where I couldn’t have the dogs. She was a life saver! She was super communicative and nice. A great experience.

I am so happy to have found Gretchen! She is a lovely person who obviously loves dogs and cats (I have both) and has clear extensive experience in caring for them. My dog Sidney typically spends a day each week in her care when I work far from home. I have peace of mind when my baby is with Gretchen; she takes her on multiple lovely walks each day to beautiful places like the Emeryville Marina and has a comfy inviting space where Sidney obviously feels very at home. I highly recommend Gretchen to care for your fur babies!

Julia is awesome. I'm looking forward to the next time she can care for our pup. She went above and beyond when I had a few snafus in my day before dropping my dog off, took the dog for a spectacular walk, and then gave me a fantastic dinner spot recommendation.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Oakland commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
