“Hong did an amazing job taking care of our dogs, Lucky and Angel! She is incredibly kind, responsible, and truly passionate about animals. We felt completely at ease while we were away, and our dogs were happy, relaxed, and well cared for when we returned. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for a loving and trustworthy pet sitter!”

“Emily is wonderful. She took such good care of my puppy and took the time to send me videos, photos and updates. They went for walks and my puppy had so much fun playing with her dog. I am very happy and grateful to have found someone I can trust with my little guy and I know he can’t wait to visit again.”

About: I am compassionate about dogs and truly want them to enjoy themselves in my home. As an animal shelter volunteer at OAS, I am particularly experienced in helping shy dogs relax! I WFH from Monday to Friday, so I provide breakfast and a AM walk just before I start my work day. During the work day, I provide potty breaks in my private, fully fenced yard. After work, I can provide a PM walk, dinner, and evening cuddles! Your pup will have my 15lb dog as a buddy during the day. I WFH for 5 days a week, and my husband WFH for 2 days a week. The dogs have access to a fully fenced private backyard to play and sunbathe.

About: Berkeley Humane Society and Oakland Animal Services volunteer, trained with dogs of all temperaments. I also dog sit for family and friends, and love building trust and keeping routines consistent. I focus on quality walks, not quick outings. When appropriate, I take dogs to East Bay spots like Point Isabel, Albany Bulb and Berkeley Marina for space and stimulation. For drop-ins, your dog will get lots of attention, movement and care. I walk my dogs daily, often on longer outings. I adjust pace and distance based on your dog’s needs. Dog care is my priority right now. I’m available mornings, afternoons, and evenings. I have flexibility and I can accommodate longer walks or extended visits I prioritize safety at all times. Dogs will always be on-leash and handled either full attention and control. I stick to your instructions and keep routines consistent

“Vito loooves Mariola and Lux! He had a great time staying there for the day. Mariola is attentive and patient and provides a safe and relaxed environment. We will definitely have Vito stay with her again.”

“Hope is a wonderful dog sitter. She follow all my instruction to take care my dog. She even sent me photos to see hows she’s doing. She even took her a long walk. She got along with my dog”

About: 🐾 A Loving Home Away From Home for Your Dog Welcome! My name is Chen zhang, and I'm a full-time, work-from-home pet sitter who provides personalized care in a peaceful, loving environment. Your dog will enjoy constant companionship throughout the day, with plenty of attention, playtime, and affection. Since pet sitting is my full-time job, I can closely follow your dog's routine, including feeding schedules, walks, medications, and any special care they may need. One of the best parts of my home is the cozy private garden, where dogs can safely explore, relax, and soak up the sunshine. We're also just a short walk from San Pablo Park, a beautiful dog-friendly park that offers plenty of space for exercise, sniffing adventures, and fun outdoor play. I believe every dog deserves patience, kindness, and respect. Whether your pup is energetic, shy, a senior, or a puppy, I'll care for them according to their unique personality and needs. I'll also keep you updated with photos and messages, so you can enjoy peace of mind while you're away. My goal is simple: to make your dog feel safe, happy, and loved—as if they were part of my own family. I can't wait to welcome your furry friend into my home! In addition, I’ve had dogs for over 16 years and truly understand how to care for animals with patience and love. I also have experience rescuing and helping stray dogs and cats, so I’m very attentive to different personalities, emotions, and special needs. My doggies back in China are all rescued and adopted by me and my family. I’m comfortable caring for both dogs and cats, including senior pets who need extra patience and gentle attention. I treat every pet like family and always try to make them feel safe, calm, and loved while you’re away. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine because I’m available full-time and can provide care every day, including weekdays and weekends. I have a flexible schedule, so pets receive plenty of attention, supervision, walks, playtime, and companionship throughout the day. Caring for dogs is something I truly enjoy, and I make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while they’re with me. I provide a safe, calm, and loving environment for pets both in my home and in my client’s home. I carefully follow each pet’s usual routine, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, medications, and any special care instructions. I pay close attention to their behavior and comfort to help them feel relaxed and secure while their owners are away. In my home, pets receive plenty of supervision, affection, clean spaces, fresh water, and regular exercise. In my client’s home, I respect the pet’s familiar environment and maintain their normal routine as closely as possible to reduce stress. I also send regular updates and photos so owners can feel confident that their pets are happy and well cared for.
About: My goal is to provide a stress-free stay-cation for your dog , giving you the peace of mind you need to have a stress-free vacation! When I think of dogs, I think of the lessons that I've learned from them over the years. Lessons in silliness, patience, exuberance, empathy, and unconditional love :] I do have a business partner, a 10 year old retired service dog named Kizmet. He comes with me virtually everywhere and is extremely patient and great with other dogs. He and I work together to make all of our guests feel welcome and safe while their families are away. I grew up with a puppy of my own and in high school, I boarded my friends' dogs. I began dog sitting in college. I am a dog walker and sitter to dogs of all shapes and sizes. I absolutely LOVE my job, and there is rarely a day when I am not excited for work! I am very patient, firm, and kind with everyone I meet, and this extends of course to my canine friends. I have experience walking many dogs at a time, especially off-leash. I always take a hike midday, as well as a couple shorter outings around the neighborhood in the morning and in the evening. I love the dog-friendly trails at the Bulb, Marina, Pt Isable and Tilden Park. I also love to take the dogs swimming when possible! I think its important that dogs get socialization time with other dogs, in addition to physical exercis and mental stimulation. My ultimate goal is to reduce as much anxiety as possible, in order to maximise fun. Kizmet is a black lab/pittie mix who loves smooches, snuggling, and swimming. He gets along with everyone. He also adores kids. As a dog owner myself, I am committed to providing your sweet furbabe with the care I would want Kizmet to have in my absense. In the future, I hope to found my own working dog training center. I know that my pup has helped me so much already, and I would love to provide similar deeply rewarding experiences to others in need. I currently work from home, so I am around and available at all times. Your fur baby will only be alone for up to 3 hours at the most! I have a small fenced yard with plenty of shade. My pup enjoys sunbathing and having spirited exchanges with our squirrel neighbors. Everyone is welcome on the bed and furniture :] I create a safe space for my animal friends by ensuring they have enough personal space, letting them set the pace of interaction, and making sure they feel confident and supported.
About: I’m a lifelong animal lover and previous dog owner who has lived with dogs throughout my life. I’ve been dog sitting for over 10 years, and now that I’m a graduate student and can’t have a pup of my own, I’d love to give yours all my love and attention. I treat every dog like family and make sure they feel safe, happy, and cared for. As a student, I have predictable blocks of free time each day, which makes it easy for me to fit in walks, visits, and dedicated attention for your pet. I plan ahead to make sure I’m always available when I commit to a booking, and I love weaving pet care into my daily routine. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I follow your routines closely to help your pet feel comfortable and secure. I keep feeding, walks, litter, and playtime consistent with what they’re used to, and I’m attentive to any special instructions or needs. I make sure your home is respected, clean, and secure, and I provide regular updates so you always know how your pet is doing.
“Sarah was wonderful with Bijou! He is a well-behaved dog but has a ton of energy, and it was clear that Sarah understood his personality perfectly. You could easily tell from the pictures she shared that he was having a blast. She took him on a couple of walks, and he came home completely happy and tired out from all the fun. I highly recommend Sarah for doggy day care and will definitely use her services again!”

About: Hi! I have been taking care of pets for 5 years, including my own dog! I have cared for a wide range of dogs from puppies to bullmastiffs. I have taken dog training courses with my dog through the Berkeley humane center, I’m ready to practice tricks with your dog:) I am a sophomore and still undecided on my major, I also work part time. I spend most of my free time working on my art which is very flexible. Dog sitting fits in around those activities easily! I treat every pup like my own—making sure they feel safe, happy, and well-cared for while you're away. I always follow your instructions carefully, keep things tidy, and give your dog plenty of love, attention, and exercise. You can relax knowing your furry friend is in trustworthy hands! Want to tweak it to sound more casual, professional, or fun?

“I felt a little unsure of dropping my dog off to someone I didn't know but started to feel more comfortable the more I spoke with Hye. Then Rudy, my pup, and I met Hye in person and we both were put very much at ease. Hye and Rudy hit it off immediately and I was fine leaving him with her. Hye updated us with photos and really "loved" Rudy and my wife and I were able to relax and enjoy our evening. I would totally recommend Hye and her husband for the care of their family member.”

“We are so glad we found Aprajita at the last minute - she was willing to take our two dogs at short notice, and was a really good communicator, before, during and after caring for them. We had photo and verbal updates, and felt very reassured at her ability to adapt to their different needs. We would not hesitate to reach out to her again.”

“If I could give 6 stars I would. Kianna and the kids treated Charlie with care and kindness. They played til he dropped. Normally when I pick him up from days care, he’s ready to go, not today. I think he was upset he was leaving. :) I will be booking again. Thank you Kianna.”

“Claudio was amazing with Xico. Xico does not always get along with other dogs, but Claudio has the ability to ease any tension or fear Xico may feel around new dogs. Claudio went above and beyond to make Xico feel at home. They even went to Alameda beach! I know Xico felt safe and happy due to Claudio’s warm energy. I’m so happy Xico could socialize and have fun this week!”

Hong was so sweet! We left our 1.5-year-old puppy with her for the whole day, and she sent so many updates and photos throughout, which I really appreciated. I’m always worried about leaving my pup with a sitter, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much fun our pup seemed to have. I could tell he was very loved and well taken care of. They also have a clean home with a nice garden! I’ll definitely be choosing Hong again. Thank you, Hong! :)

Chen Z. was amazing with my dog. He’s very easy to communicate with, very accommodating to different schedules, takes lots of beautiful pictures and videos, and sends frequent updates. Most importantly my dog was always so excited to see him. Would 100% recommend and book again.

Michelle has been boarding our dog Katsu for years and he always has a great time! Recently we adopted a second dog, and Maki and Katsu both got to spend a few days with Michelle for doggy day care. We always trust Michelle and her family to take good care of our dogs.

Ellah was amazing. She took excellent care of my pup. My sometimes anxious Jack Russel clearly felt completely at home and safe with Ellah. Excellent communication, sent pics and gave updates. Ellah made what would have been a very long day for my dog a safe and fun day for her. I am grateful for caring for my dog like family, it's hard to find someone that genuinely cares and does that. :)

I am so happy to have found Gretchen! She is a lovely person who obviously loves dogs and cats (I have both) and has clear extensive experience in caring for them. My dog Sidney typically spends a day each week in her care when I work far from home. I have peace of mind when my baby is with Gretchen; she takes her on multiple lovely walks each day to beautiful places like the Emeryville Marina and has a comfy inviting space where Sidney obviously feels very at home. I highly recommend Gretchen to care for your fur babies!

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Berkeley commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
