“Maria is terrific. She arrived on time and immediately bonded with our dog. She gave him lots of attention and took him for a walk. When we returned home, he was cuddled up against her. She also kept our house neat and clean. I highly recommend her.”

“Lucas is very kind and gentle, and made an immediate connection with Rico. He is knowledgeable about senior dogs, and was very attentive to the care Rico needs. He was on time, responsible, and left our house immaculate. We would happily hire him again.”

“Anny and Shuhan were responsible and reliable, and Anny provided regular updates on my dog. My dog can get a little depressed when we aren’t there and Anny went out of her way to make sure she was ok. It was wonderful knowing she was in such loving and competent hands. They took great care of our house too! We will definitely hope Anny can sit for us in the future!”

“I’m so happy and grateful Donovan was able to watch Chuy! He took him for walks, took him to the mall, and sent us updates. 10/10 would recommend Donovan! I’m also so grateful he was willing to watch Chuy at our house!!!”

“Angela was amazing! She offered to do a meet and greet before sitting, which was perfect for my dog who is a little wary of new people. I also got plenty of updates and pictures. And I was able to enjoy my time away worry free because she was in such good hands.”

“Sophia did incredible with our dog, Bryn. She sent daily pictures and was very attentive with all the complicated instructions I gave. Bryn seemed very happy when we came home and he got more walks with Sophia than he usually gets with me. I highly recommend Sophia, we'll be rebooking soon!”
“If there were 6 stars, I'd give them to Hollie. She is the epitome of conscientious, responsible, and caring. Our flight home was delayed and she even changed her plans so she could stay longer. Our shih tzu loves being with her - from a drop-in walk to a 3-night stay - and we're eager to have Hollie back as soon as our next need arises. I cannot recommend this sitter more highly.”

“Just the most fantastic pet sitter. Took great care of my doodle and was extremely respectful of my house/rules. Excellent communicator, regular photos/videos and great outings. Will be my go-to when he’s free to care for the pup.”

“Hong was wonderful with our puppy. She kept us up to date with frequent pictures and was so kind and loving to him. He really enjoyed having her care for him and was extremely happy the whole time. I highly recommend her if you are looking for the best care for your pet.”

“Isaiah is fantastic! He has say with our pups on 3 occasions for long periods of time, and he sends multiple photos and daily updates. I know my pups are in great hands when I have to leave them! ❤️🐾❤️”

“Agnes is friendly attentive responsible and communicative. Our pets and our home were respected, very well cared, for during our week away. We would be happy to have Agnes in our home and caring for our pets again!”

About: I have experience taking care of dogs for over 10+ years. I have had pets my whole life and I have taken care of family members pets before due to them leaving for emergency or vacation. Walking and playing with the dogs is my favorite part. I have pets of my own that I tend to. 3 cats and one small chihuahua. She is only a year old and I love them so much. They are very playful and love to cuddle. The way I would care for pets in a client's home is the way I would care for my own pets with given instructions on medication, routine, special dietary restrictions and of course. A list of required tasks to complete with the dog/cat while taking care of them.
“Dogs were completely chill when we came back, which is a sign that they were happy and taken care of. Katherine was easy to work with and a great communicator. I'd happily use her again.”

“Celeste was beyond wonderful. I’d leave my dog with her anytime. Besides being a lovely person, she was totally responsible, communicative and gave my dog a lot of exercise and affection. I feel like planning a trip so she’ll come over again!”

“Wenjie did so well with our cranky old dog, taking care of the dog and apartment equally. He is cheery, responsive, and responsible, and we would book him again for Henry in a heartbeat”

“Anna was amazing at taking care of our energetic 1 year old Lab. She took her on walks/to the park multiple times a day and exposed her to other dogs who matched her vibe. Based on the pictures and updates it was clear she made our pup feel like part of the family. She was quickly able to relax and settle in at her temporary home. Anna also managed through the fact that she was in heat and took on the added duties of a dog in diapers. We appreciated all the texts and pictures and will look to Anna as our go to sitter in the future.”

“Katie did such a great job hanging with our beloved dog and cat. They both seemed to be happy and calm when we returned and she was very respectful and clean staying in our home. We’d definitely feel very comfortable booking her for house and pet sitting whenever we’re out of town!”

“Kai was a spectacular sitter for my girl Mia. Mia is an affectionate cat but it’s clear that Kai has a real gift for caring for animals. This won’t be the last time she sits for Mia, and I know Mia can’t wait to see Kai again!!”

About: Animals have always been a very important part of my life. Growing up, my mother operated a small pet rescue and animal shelter organization in Asia, and from a very young age I helped care for rescued dogs, cats, and abandoned animals alongside her. Over the years, we helped rescue and rehome thousands of animals, many of whom came from difficult or traumatic situations. caring for animals feels completely natural to me. I do not see pets as “just animals.” I genuinely believe they are family members who deserve love, patience, emotional safety, and respect. In many ways, I believe animals carry one of the purest forms of unconditional love, and sometimes they deserve even more kindness and gentleness than humans receive. I have experience caring for pets with very different personalities, medical conditions, and emotional needs, including senior pets, rescue animals, anxious dogs, and cats requiring medication and special routines. I am highly attentive to behavioral changes, feeding routines, emotional comfort, cleanliness, and creating calm environments where animals feel safe and relaxed.

Stephanie takes great care of our two dogs! The dogs are very different, but Stephanie always knows how to meet their individual needs. They can be challenging to walk, too, and Stephanie does a great job with them. Stephanie is very reliable and our go-to sitter!

Ana is my go-to cat sitter. I am always at ease when she is able to care for my two lady cats. She is very attentive to their preferences and very communicative. Ana always goes out of her way to ensure Ginny and Ella are safe and comfy while I am away. Highly recommend.

I couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter! Camille was incredibly attentive and clean throughout the whole visit, I could tell she genuinely cared about doing right by our dogs. Indie and Scamp took to her right away and were clearly comfortable and happy in her care. I will definitely be booking her again!

Katie took great care of our 3 old dogs for 4 days and was very responsive and helpful when we needed to communicate with her. When we realized we were going to be home later than expected she offered to come back and make sure our dogs were fed dinner. I highly recommend her to watch your pets and house and am very thankful to have had such a kind and responsible person taking care of our dogs.

Hollie watched our senior old man dog while we were away. It had been over a year since we’d last left him with a sitter and she was very communicative and sent lots of pictures and updates that helped ease our minds. Was courteous and thoughtful in doing laundry for us so it was clean upon our return home. A great sitter and would recommend her to anyone!

Dane took amazing care of our dog while we were out of town! I always feel more relaxed knowing he is being cared for by Dane. Highly recommend!! Our dog loves him and gets so excited for walks and his stays. Great updates and zero issues with any part of the booking or process.

Feel so lucky to have found Rich! He took wonderful care of my dog, Tova. He sent daily photos and I knew she was in good hands while I was away. I came back home to a clean house and a thorough report on Tova’s behavior. Rich clearly loves animals and has a keen sense of their needs.

LIsa stayed at our house with our dog for a week. Our dog can have a lot of separation anxiety and Lisa was excellent with her. She took her on lots of walks and played lots of fetch. She took excellent care of the house as well. Above all, Lisa’s communication was excellent. We received daily updates and photos which was very reassuring. I highly recommend Lisa for your pet care.

Rob was the BEST sitter. He went above and beyond in every respect -- from meeting the girls twice before his sit to make sure they were comfortable with him, to sending us pics and updates throughout his stay, to making sure our home was perfect upon our arrival, he exceeded our expectations. Our girls loved him, and they were happy, well exercised, and healthy when we got home. Definitely would recommend Rob as a doggy sitter for everyone!

We were so happy with Jo! For the meet and greet, Jo was incredibly patient and warm and proactive, even with our Enzo’s silly behavior. Fortunately, with Jo’s care, Enzo warmed up very quickly and returned the love. We were very glad to witness Enzo’s good behavior, quirkiness and relaxed mood - as seen from Jo’s frequent photo updates and communication. On top of being good caregiver, she went above and beyond to also care for our home. We hope our pup will get to reunite with Jo, his new best friend, again someday.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Berkeley walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Berkeley maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Berkeley choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
