“Maria is terrific. She arrived on time and immediately bonded with our dog. She gave him lots of attention and took him for a walk. When we returned home, he was cuddled up against her. She also kept our house neat and clean. I highly recommend her.”

“We had such a great experience with Vivian! My puppy loved her and she took great care of him and left the house in wonderful shape while we were gone. She sent regular updates and we knew our puppy was in great hands! Highly recommend Vivian.”

“Angela was great. Above and beyond, especially in responding to a few schedule curve balls. Great communication and only about important questions about Frida. Highly recommend!”

“Ana is truly the best sitter I have ever worked with. She is so responsive and great at communicating. Several times she’s adjusted last minute to accommodate me. She is also incredibly patient with Cleo who can sometimes be a bit of a diva. I cannot recommend her enough.”

“Cameron was very lovely! Our pup can be a little shy and timid. However, in the short time he had, he was able to eventually build trust and create a bond. We really appreciate him staying in touch during Enzo’s care and giving up assurance with frequent updates. We also appreciate his calm and positive attitude.”

“Milo and I loved having Rong as a sitter! She's warm, responsible and clearly cares about connecting with animals. We had a lovely time talking during our walk through and she sent wonderful photos of kitty while I was away. Our home was spotless and well cared for upon return. I'd love to have her back soon!”

“Mason and Alex were super flexible and helped us on a last minute sitting request. They were very friendly and supportive with our senior dog care plan. We came home to happy dogs and kitty as well as a clean home. They also kept us updated with daily check ins and photos. We recommend them for future house sitting requests.”

About: I come from parents who did Alaskan dog mushing with over 20 dogs. I grew up surrounded by dogs and have experience with many breeds. I know how to train, help with senior care, and provide any advice you’re looking for. I’m currently working part time, so I can quickly adapt to any pet or house needs you might have. I’m also very physically active so any further exercise is welcome! After growing up with dogs in the Alaskan wilderness surrounded by moose, I definitely have good habits of staying aware of my surroundings. I’ll be able to fully dedicate myself to your requests!
“Christine is truly wonderful! Whenever I come home, my dogs are relaxed and happy, which I believe is thanks to her caring attention while I'm away. She always keeps me in the loop, which I really appreciate. Thanks so much, Christine!!”

“Erik was on time, and friendly..I really liked him he was great with my dog, and cool to chat with. I'd definitely book with him again and I'd definitely recommend him.. thanks so much for looking after our Hammy and our home..”

“Rachael was AMAZING! Your fur babies are in great hands with her. She was extremely attentive to all the special care our senior kitty needed, was quick to reply and easy to get ahold of, and did a fantastic job with all the little extra house tasks while we were away for a few days. Cannot recommend her enough!”

“Sophia did incredible with our dog, Bryn. She sent daily pictures and was very attentive with all the complicated instructions I gave. Bryn seemed very happy when we came home and he got more walks with Sophia than he usually gets with me. I highly recommend Sophia, we'll be rebooking soon!”
“Asha did a great job taking care of my nervous boy while I was out of town! Her daily updates were informative and helpful as I managed uncertainty around how Eustace was doing during my absence. She made sure to clarify any unclear points, and was all around very on top of things.”

“Tim is amazing! Would rebook him anytime. Super detailed about care and directions, great updates and just overall made me feel at ease about leaving Louie, who has some senior special needs, in his care. It’s hard to find people that are as kind and thoughtful about your pet and home, but Tim is that person. Thank you so much.”

“It was a pleasure to work with Patricia, who stayed at my house for five days and took care of my eight-year-old mini doodle, Ruby. Patricia was highly communicative leading up to her stay, sent daily pictures of Ruby while I was on my trip, left the house spotless, and even helped out with our parakeets. When I met Patricia during our meet and greet, I could see that she is a truly lovely and kind person. I look forward to working with her again. Patricia is highly trustworthy, responsible, and most importantly took great care of Ruby, I cannot recommend her services highly enough!”

“Angie was great. She was very responsive and kept us updated throughout the entire time she took care of both our pups. The pups were healthy and happy and our home was kept clean. We would have her house sit for us again.”

“This is the 4th? time Alexandra has stayed with Sirius at our home and we are forever grateful for the great care she takes of our boy and our home. I can also vouch for her administering meds for him this time as well. There will be many more!”

About: What sets me apart is that I have experience caring for dogs mainly through family and friends, including medium and large dogs, as well as puppies and senior dogs. I’m comfortable following set routines and making sure everything stays consistent, whether that’s feeding schedules, walks, or daily care habits. I also have experience with leash-pulling dogs and basic training routines from working with my own dogs, so I’m comfortable reinforcing good behavior in a calm and patient way. I feel confident handling a wide range of situations and I’m happy to follow any specific instructions an owner provides. With dogs, I like a balance of walks, playtime, and downtime, but I always follow their lead, some dogs want lots of attention and activity, while others prefer space and quiet company. I’m comfortable with both and focus on making sure each dog feels safe, relaxed, and cared for. I also have experience with cats, and I enjoy working with multiple types of animals in a home. Overall, I’m reliable, patient, and focused on making sure every pet is well cared for while their owners are away. Pet care fits into my routine really well because I have a flexible full-time job. I’m usually in the office about three days a week, but my schedule isn’t rigid and I can work from different locations or from home when needed, especially when I’m pet sitting. Because of that flexibility, I’m able to plan my day around feeding times, walks, and check-ins so pets stay on their normal routine. I generally walk dogs in the morning and afternoons, so it’s easy for me to build that into my day. I’m also available for morning, evening, and overnight care depending on what’s needed. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I focus on keeping their normal routine as consistent as possible so they feel safe and comfortable while their owner is away. I follow all instructions closely, including feeding schedules, walk times, medication, and any specific routines or house rules. I make sure pets get plenty of attention, whether that’s walks, playtime, or just quiet company depending on their personality. I’m also careful to respect their space and adjust my approach if a pet is shy or needs time to warm up. I keep the home clean and tidy, including feeding areas, water bowls, and litter boxes if needed, and I’m comfortable handling any messes or accidents. I also provide updates and photos so owners know how their pet is doing while they’re away.
“Nicole was fantastic. She took care of our senior dog and two cats and all three were doing great when we returned. She took time and care with each animal, especially with our skittish cat who is very frightened of new people. Our house looked fantastic when we returned, Nicole had even changed the sheets and washed her towels! And she stayed in constant communication with us, sending pictures all the time. We highly recommend Nicole and will definitely use her again in the future.”

Travis and Prativa watched my golden retriever for over two weeks, while I worked outside California. My dog enjoyed being with them. They were both friendly, dependable and very competent. If they stay in Northern California, I would be happy to have them dog sit/house sit for me again.

Hong recently house-sat for us again (this time on short notice for a day trip) and once again came through flawlessly. As a repeat sitter, she already knew Winnie’s routine and it showed; everything went smoothly and we came home to a happy, well-exercised pup. It’s such a relief to have someone this reliable and accommodating on call. Highly recommend Hong, especially if you need a sitter who can step in quickly!

Sophia watched our home and pets for almost two weeks and we could not be happier with the level of care and communication she provided. She brought our dog some extra puzzle toys to keep her busy and put together kongs for her. She also bonded with our particular cat and gave her lots of attention and brushing. Sophia sent photos and updates every day and took care with lots of updates when our dog had some soreness in her feet and legs. Our house was also super tidy when we got home. Can’t recommend Sophia highly enough!

Ella stayed in our home for 6 nights with our 8year old bichpoo, Benny. She did a wonderful job following his feeding and walking schedule. She sent regular updates and pictures and was easy to communicate with! I liked that she worked from home some days so Benny got extra attention and she enjoyed having him on the bed with her at night. I would definitely recommend Ella and would love her to sit for us again anytime.
William took excellent care of our dog and our home while we were away. Right before our vacation, when our dog picked up kennel cough at day care and as a result couldn't go there for boarding while we were away, we were panicked about whether we'd need to cancel our trip. William graciously agreed to help us out at the last minute, and it ended up being a better arrangement for our dog than our original plan. We highly recommend his services!

Agnes is a solid sitter who genuinely seemed to enjoy spending time with my rescue dog Velvet. They seemed to bond quickly with snuggles & walks! Agnes was a great communicator, left my place very clean and followed instructions well. Would definitely hire Agnes again - thank you for your help!

Alexandra was such an excellent house sitter of my house and cats. She clearly loves animals and I came home to super happy relaxed cats and a very tidy house. She sent tons of photos and was so helpful troubleshooting various things. I’d love to have her back anytime! Thanks so much Alexandra 🐱 🐱

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Berkeley walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Berkeley maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Berkeley choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
