“Angie was great. She was very responsive and kept us updated throughout the entire time she took care of both our pups. The pups were healthy and happy and our home was kept clean. We would have her house sit for us again.”

“Our dog was tired and happy! Cara seemed to take good care of her, and was sweet and considerate when she had to deal with our dog having a surprise incontinence issue on our bed one night. We appreciated Cara a lot!”

“Tami stayed with my two cats for one week and she made my time away stress free. She was in communication multiple times daily to let me know what they were up to and sent lots of pictures. When I got home at the end of the week, the cats were relaxed and happy. No problems at all. I highly recommend Tami!”

“We are so fortunate to have found Linett!! Linett is so loving with our two dogs and we were relaxed on vacation knowing that she was taking care of them and our house. Linett is an excellent communicator, highly professional -- and an obvious animal lover :). She took care of every detail and sent amazing photos and videos so we knew exactly how things were going. Our dogs clearly had a very fun time. We are looking forward to having her house sit next time we are away.”

“Christine was wonderful and kept me informed with everything that was going on at my house. When I got home, the dogs were calm, which to me is a good sign of a caring sitter.”

“She was exceptional. Dogs loved her and she sent wonderful updates during our two week trip. Also, our house was spotless when we returned home which was a great bonus. Can strongly recommend Nicole. We already have dates on the calendar!”

About: I grew up with 6 pit bulls, taking sun baths with them in my backyard. I’ve volunteered in SF SPCA and donate monthly. My best friend aka Herita is a rescue, she’s been with me for over 3 years now. I believe animals have taught me how to love unconditionally and responsibly. Calm, trust and safety are my top priorities. I hope you give me the chance to connect with you and your fur baby/ babies. I work from home. I normally take Hera on a walk every morning for about 30 mins. Come back and hit the gym. After that I’m free. I can always head over in the am, afternoon or evenings. I have a fenced yard, Herita is spayed and loves to play with other dogs. Her bff is a 3 y/o Doberman. Which I take care of a couple of times a week (take her out on walks and feed her)
“Honestly there’s nothing I can say to convey how wonderful and at ease our dog was with him. He was attentive to our fur baby and treated him like we would. It was nice to enjoy our night out and not have to worry about our dog because we knew that Thomas was everything and more than we can ask for in a dog sitter. Our fur baby was truly in good hands.”

“Korin was amazing as usual. She took great care of our pup while we were away and shared regular updates/photos. Louie loved playing with her and was clearly tired and happy when we got home. Thanks, Korin!”

“Johnatan took care of my dog for 2 weeks. He’d feed her and walk her twice a day. He was always respectful and kept me posted about my dog’s activities. He washed the linens before departing and even gave my dog a quick bath (he forgot the blow-drying part though). As much as I’d like to give him 5 stars, there’s still room for improvement as he forgot to leave the sliding door open for the dog to go outside leading to the dog peeing and popping inside of the house. He sometimes took 8+ hours to get back home and a couple of nights he wasn’t able to return at all and my dog slept alone. The latter due to he working part time at a place located 1 hr away from our home. Overall, a thrustful boy who just needs to get more experience.”

“Kasey took wonderful care of my two corgis. Luna is usually cautious with new people, but she was comfortable right away. I received lots of photos and videos of happy walks and fun runs at the dog park. The house was in excellent condition, and I got updates several times a day. Highly recommend!”

“Hong was wonderful with our puppy. She kept us up to date with frequent pictures and was so kind and loving to him. He really enjoyed having her care for him and was extremely happy the whole time. I highly recommend her if you are looking for the best care for your pet.”

About: I have experience with cats who are particularly anxious, I am able to provide much more than just feeding and regular care tasks. I have experience with emotional regulation for anxious cats and dogs , and I’m able to provide extra attention through extended stays, diverse kinds of play, and overnight care. I also have prior experience with elderly dogs who need special accommodation. I work only 2 days a week, and have a very open flexible schedule at the moment. I can provide a wide range of services, my most notable experience is working with anxious pets who need extra attention and love! For dogs, I prefer to take dogs on multiple walks (ideally 3 walks per day) to encourage lots of activity, I can encourage socializing if needed. For cats, I love to drop in and play, give affection or just coexist as needed!
“Meshaal was a wonderful dog and house sitter! He has a calm demeanor and is very professional. He took excellent care of our senior dog who has some health needs and took care of all his medications with no issues. He also promptly responded to all our check in messages. Our dog loved Meshaal and and was crying when he left! Meshaal also left our house better than we left it. Looking forward to rebooking with Meshaal again in the future. Would definitely recommend Meshaal to others!”

“I’ve had Barbara house sit with my animals two times now, and she has been communicative and helpful each time. I was running around before my trip and I forgot to leave her instructions in my home, but she was super understanding and helpful when I reached out with notes on medication and food. I definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a pet sitter!”

About: Animals have always been a big part of my life, and I genuinely enjoy getting to know each pet’s unique personality. Whether it’s walks, playtime, cuddles, medication, or keeping a routine, I provide dependable, compassionate care. I treat every pet as if they were my own and keep pet parents updated with photos and messages throughout each visit. My schedule is flexible, allowing me to provide reliable care throughout the week. I do my best to accommodate each pet’s routine, whether that means walks, drop-in visits, boarding, or overnight stays. I believe consistency is important, so I communicate clearly and keep pet parents updated throughout every visit Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness are my top priorities. I have a secure, fenced yard where dogs can safely play and explore under supervision. Inside, I provide a clean, calm, and welcoming home while following each pet’s normal routine, including feeding schedules, exercise, medications (if needed), and any special instructions. I closely supervise pets and send regular photo and message updates so you can have peace of mind while you’re away.

“Michelle was absolutely fabulous! She was able to watch my two dogs on very short notice while I was in Oakland to visit family. My dogs loved her! She took great care of them, taking them on multiple walks throughout the day and providing attention when needed. She we be the first person I reach out to when I am in the Oakland area again. Thank you Michelle!”

“I couldn’t have asked for a better cat sitter than Natasha! She spent the week with my cat while I was on vacation, and sent me updates throughout the week which was reassuring. She even cleaned up before leaving, which was wonderful! I highly recommend Natasha :)”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Canyon
This is the second time we have had Atusa stay at our home and she is beyond lovely! She communicates so well with our family and lets us know how the animals are doing. We appreciate her very much and are so thankful we found her on this app. I completely trust her with my animals and my home.

Anais was a great choice for caring for our dog Drew. She was communicative and provided lots of updates and we came back to a clean home exactly as we left it. She was also available with only a couple weeks notice which we appreciated when we had another sitter fall through. I’d gladly have her again.

Christine did a wonderful job taking care of our older dog for 10 days while we were away. She followed all of our instructions carefully, was very kind and attentive, and clearly cared about our dog's well-being. When we returned, our dog was happy, relaxed, and in great spirits, which gave us a lot of peace of mind. Christine also left the house extremely clean and well cared for. We really appreciated her reliability and communication throughout our trip. We would gladly have her watch our dog again and highly recommend her to others.
I have never used Rover before and Erin by far exceeded every expectation I had. We had her stay with our newly adopted dog for two nights and our dog loved her. We had our neighbors help out before and our dog wouldn't let them near her, but with Erin, our dog was her sweet self. Erin was punctual and made me feel at ease right away. She also left our house just as we left it. I would highly recommend Erin for any pet sitting needs.

Edward hit it off with Milo from the get go and made himself available at the last minute for a house-sit. He was super communicative and sent us pictures and updates. He even washed our dishes ( totally out of volition) and that is super awesome thank you 🙏🏽 Milo will look forward to many more sits with him. Highly recommend!!

My pup Lulu came down with a stomach issue the day before we left for our trip. Rebecca worked with me to come up with a plan for her care and monitoring, adjusting her diet as Lulu recovered and sending me regular updates on Lulu's progress. Being 3000 miles away, it was such a relief to know that Lulu was in good hands and that Rebecca was prepared for the worst case scenarios. Thanks to Rebecca, I came home to a happy and healthy pup!

Faith is extremely communicative and knowledgable! We greatly appreciated her diligence with our dogs meds and schedules. She sent regular updates and pictures, kept our place clean, and the dogs loved snuggling with her. I felt completely confident leaving ours dogs in her care!

Davina and her family were excellent caregivers for Cloud and Princess. Davina was great communicating with us while we were gone. Our home looks just as it did when we left, except better because she brought in packages that had been delivered by Amazon and placed the mail on the kitchen table. We could tell that our dogs had been fed, walked, and loved in our absence, because they were happy to see us when we came home, but not needy. We hope they can do all of our dog sitting in the future!

Mary is the best! She took great care of our little sweetheart, Birdie, who is not the easiest creature to care for as well caring for our house. Mary extended us kindness, consideration, cleanliness and lots of communication. Great pictures too! And Birdie got all of that plus cuddles! We all lucked out - thank you, Mary!!!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Canyon on Rover is $76.36 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 8,822 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Canyon. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Canyon walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Canyon maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Canyon choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
