“Hollie was very flexible about my return timing and did a good job of keeping Sheba on schedule for food and walks. She also shared updates to keep me informed while I was gone, which I really appreciated.”

“We feel very grateful that we found David and Mabel to take care of our two doggies and home while we were on vacation. This was the first time we were leaving one off our dogs for an extended period of time and we were very anxious about it. Our puppies love them, they were very well taken care off, the daily updates and photos were super helpful, We felt our puppies and home were in good hands. When we came back our home was spotless and the doggies happy and We highly recommend David and Mabel.”

About: I’ve taken care of all types of dogs over my years as a pet sitter. Some puppies, some elderly dogs. I have experience in emergency situations, if the need arises. This is my first time trying Rover out -I’ve usually only advertised through word of mouth. Excited to get to know you & your pet. Pet care will be my main priority. Schedule can be fit around your pet. If emergency situations arise - I have experience in that. I need to exercise so taking dogs out for walks will be welcomed. I will follow the instructions laid out for me by the employer. You let me know if your pet is allowed or not allowed on furniture and I will act accordingly.
“Anny is an incredible pet sitter. She sent videos and text daily letting me know how things were going. She even gave me advice on how to make food for appealing for Ella to eat since she is a picky eater.”

About: I have over 10 years of experience caring for my own dog and 8 years of experience caring for my two cats. In addition, I've cared for my neighbor's dog on multiple occasions over the past five years. Whether your pet enjoys long walks, playtime, or simply having someone to keep them company at home, I'll provide attentive, reliable care and treat them like they're part of my own family. I'm happy to follow your pet's routine and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you're away. I'm currently on summer break from college, which gives me a very flexible schedule. This allows me to accommodate a variety of pet care needs, whether that's daytime visits, walks, overnight stays, or last-minute bookings. I'll make sure your pet gets the time, attention, and care they deserve. I will be caring for pets in their own homes, where they can stay comfortable in their familiar environment. I understand that every pet has unique needs and routines, so I'll carefully follow any instructions you provide, including feeding schedules, walks, medications, and house rules. I'm very cautious and attentive when caring for pets, and I'll always prioritize their safety, comfort, and well-being. My goal is to provide dependable care while giving you peace of mind that your pet is in good hands.
“Honestly there’s nothing I can say to convey how wonderful and at ease our dog was with him. He was attentive to our fur baby and treated him like we would. It was nice to enjoy our night out and not have to worry about our dog because we knew that Thomas was everything and more than we can ask for in a dog sitter. Our fur baby was truly in good hands.”

“Hong was wonderful with our puppy. She kept us up to date with frequent pictures and was so kind and loving to him. He really enjoyed having her care for him and was extremely happy the whole time. I highly recommend her if you are looking for the best care for your pet.”

“Matthew was able to watch Charlie last minute and was great to work with. Matthew kept me updated, sent pictures, and Charlie seemed very happy and well cared for. Will definitely book again!”

“Alexis is a fantastic dog sitter!! She stayed with our golden retriever for 8 days while we were out of town. Throughout the week, she was communicative, sending pics every day and detailing what they had done together (walks, balls, toys). At the end of the week, she left a detailed note to highlight anything else we needed to know. I so appreciated the level of detail she provided and the clear care she put into taking care of our dog. He’s a part of our family and I’ve never trusted anyone but family with him. We’ll now trust Alexis with him every time! Highly recommend her if you are looking for a communicative, responsible, compassionate dog sitter who will treat your dog like their own.”

“Fox was INCREDIBLE with my 1 year old Shiba Inu. They communicated excellently and treated my pup like she was their own. I can’t thank Fox enough for their service and I would 100% rebook with them as often as I can!!”

“Linett took great care of our dogs while we were out of town. We have two strong and energetic bully breeds and they definitely got to have lots of adventures and snuggles with her. She was very communicative and shared photos and videos of the doggos while we were gone.”

“Isaiah is a phenomenal pet sitter! He had a home stay with our cat Yuri while we were away on vacation. Isaiah made sure that Yuri stayed cool in the heat, interacted with him frequently, and provided us with tons of updates and some great photographs. He was always accessible and extremely responsive. I would leave my home and animals in his extremely capable hands anytime!”

“She was exceptional. Dogs loved her and she sent wonderful updates during our two week trip. Also, our house was spotless when we returned home which was a great bonus. Can strongly recommend Nicole. We already have dates on the calendar!”

“Tami stayed with my two cats for one week and she made my time away stress free. She was in communication multiple times daily to let me know what they were up to and sent lots of pictures. When I got home at the end of the week, the cats were relaxed and happy. No problems at all. I highly recommend Tami!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Orinda
This is the second time we have had Atusa stay at our home and she is beyond lovely! She communicates so well with our family and lets us know how the animals are doing. We appreciate her very much and are so thankful we found her on this app. I completely trust her with my animals and my home.

Elizabeth was great with our animals - a big girl dog and two cats. She was very respectful of our space - it looked as clean as we’d left it. More importantly, our animals were very very happy when we got home! She sent good daily updates - wonderful communicator. We highly recommend and would welcome her back to our home.

We had a meet and greet with Sumaira for our need to have doggie care, cat care and house sitting for a week. Sumaira has lots of experience and confidence which put us at ease. Our senior cat requires daily meds 2xs per day and our newly adopted 5 y.o. Golden can be rambunctious- Sumaira was at ease caring for both. Our home was well taken care of and she even helped with an unexpected delivery. We received daily pictures and reassurances that all was well. We recommend Sumaira and will ask her to help us again soon.

David and Mabel took excellent care of our 2 year old lab. It was great knowing our puppy was comfortable at home with professional and thoughtful care. They understand dogs, how to care for them and the importance of communicating with the pet parents. Our home was left cleaner than when we left, which we greatly appreciated! We will definitely continue to use them when we are away!

Amila is amazing! She was very communicative, sending photos and updates frequently. She’s very trustworthy and kind, and I think our pup had a wonderful time with her at our home. She took him for walks more frequently than we even asked for and spent so much time with our dog that we were able to relax a little while we were away, without feeling worried. Amila is wonderful and we will rebook for sure. Thanks Amila!!!
Davina and her family were excellent caregivers for Cloud and Princess. Davina was great communicating with us while we were gone. Our home looks just as it did when we left, except better because she brought in packages that had been delivered by Amazon and placed the mail on the kitchen table. We could tell that our dogs had been fed, walked, and loved in our absence, because they were happy to see us when we came home, but not needy. We hope they can do all of our dog sitting in the future!

Michael W took good care of our cuddly, chill dog Lou while we were out of town for five days. He took Lou on many walks and left the house spotless. He was also very responsive with photos and updates, and helped out with plant watering etc. A very nice fellow, and so responsible! We highly recommend!
Michael is an amazing house and pet sitter! This was first time we left our German Shepard with someone other than family. Our dog doesn’t generally warm up to people but he immediately bonded with Michael. He took excellent care of our home and gave our dog lots of love and attention. He kept in touch daily and sent photos which gave me total peace of mind. I would absolutely recommend him!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Orinda on Rover is $88.8 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 8,614 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Orinda. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Orinda walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Orinda maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Orinda choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Orinda. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
