“Rebecca has been caring for Mikko and Kona for a year and a half now. She is truly the best! She takes great care of them, and has even had to take Mikko to the vet with an emergency and did fantastic caring for him! She is a great communicator and loves Mikko and Kona very much!”

“Monica was amazing! The first day we met and talked with her for our meet and greet, we were immediately at ease with having her sit for our dog and home. When we were away, we could tell that Monica was so kind, thoughtful and playful with Coco. She played with her toys with her, threw the ball, spent time in the yard and took her on neighborhood walks. She also took her on car rides and in general treated Coco like she was her own. We got so many adorable pictures and updates, and when we got home from our trip, Coco was calm and happy. We could not be more pleased. Also, Monica took beautiful care of our house and administered all of Coco's medications throughout the day. We would hire Monica to sit again in a heartbeat.”

“April K. was an excellent house and dog sitter for our 12yr old senior dog Hank. She provided many updates/photos of activities with our dog which helped us relax a bit more on vacation. She is very communicative and responsive, good with detailed instructions, and happy to help out with miscellaneous things around the home. We would not hesitate to book her again if we take future trips away!”

“Jessica is a true animal lover who puts so much care and attention into her work, treating your pets as if they were her own. She took care of my dog and two cats for almost a week while I was out of town and I got frequent updates and came home to very happy animals! It’s also clear in talking with her that she has a wide range of animal experience, not just dogs and cats. Highly recommend and grateful to have found someone who I know will take excellent care of my pets.”

“Brenna was amazing. She came last minute (we had another Rover who got sick and has to cancel) and was perfect for our very new, very sweet, very anxious about people and separating from her people pup (15 lb chihuahua terrier mix). Brenna knew just how to be around our anxious dog, and our dog warmed up to her quickly. Our dog let Brenna hold her and cuddle her and even take her outside a few times while we were gone - nothing short of a miracle with this pup. I will be going back to Brenna again as often as needed!”

“Bailey Rose always runs to the door when Bailey comes to babysit. She is so excited to see her! Bailey always takes such good care of our home and our little girl. Highly recommended. Will definitely be using her more and more.”

“Erica was an amazing dogsitter for my 2 pups! She was super communicative and kept in touch the whole time with messages and photos. She took extra care with my more tricky and shy pup, which I greatly appreciated. It was so nice knowing they were in great hands! Would definitely recommend!”
“Asuka was incredible with our dog. She was communicative, responsive, and sent tons of pictures and videos of our dog while we were away. We would definitely use her again to care for our dog while we’re away. Highly recommend!”

“Erika was very sweet and took great care of our old boy, Watson. He was well loved while we were away. Erika was also very respectful of our house. We will try to have her over again!”
“Ef was terrific - personable, responsible, caring, communicative, and dog-smart - from booking, to stopping by a second time on the day before we left so he could connect with Polly and double check arrangements, to reporting while we were gone, to debriefing on our return.”

“Matt did a wonderful job with our 2 senior dogs He really loves the dogs we booked house sitting dog sitting overnights at our house. He even sent photos of our happy dogs hanging out with him on the family room couch We would highly recommend recommend him without any reservations!”

“Alex was amazing- I had a very last minute overnight work event come up, and had to figure out someone to take care of my 8 month old puppy with less than a full day's notice. My pup has some anxiety and nerves (like puppy like parent?) and I was so worried to leave him, but Alex was phenomenal. He was responsive to texts, kept me updated, and when I got home, my pup was so happy I absolutely knew Alex had done an amazing job making him feel comfortable and secure. Will 💯 use Alex again, and would recommend him to anyone.”

“Courtney took such great care of our fur babies and our home. She was our housesitter and stayed overnight with our two dogs and cat. Our youngest dog was nervous and refused to eat, but Courtney didn’t panic and was very communicative with us. We have already booked her again!”

“Destiny and Treonna did a fantastic job taking care of our pup Nova as well as the house. We got a bunch of pictures updates during the busy holiday time which we greatly appreciated. Nova was left in great hands and we will be using them going forward given the opportunity!”

“Halona is excellent. She communicates very well and follows through on what she commits to which is much appreciated. I felt very safe leaving my dog in her care and she looked after him very well. She took great care of our house during her stay. I would definitely request Halona again. Our dog is a little special with his needs and she took extra care of him”

About: I have over 10 years of hands-on experience caring for dogs, including my 10-year-old Jack Russell Terrier and my young Labradoodle. Caring for dogs has been a part of my daily life for many years, and I truly enjoy spending time with animals. I also have experience teaching dogs basic obedience commands and helping puppies develop good habits and routines. My Labradoodle has been trained to follow a variety of commands, and I understand the importance of consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement. I am comfortable caring for dogs of different ages, sizes, and personalities, from energetic puppies to senior dogs. Whether your pet needs walks, playtime, companionship, feeding, medication reminders, or simply a calm and loving environment, I will treat them as if they were my own. I know how important it is for pet parents to feel confident while they’re away, so I always provide attentive care, regular updates, and plenty of photos. I currently work part-time and often work from home, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to provide attentive care throughout the day. Because I spend a lot of time at home, pets in my care receive plenty of supervision, companionship, potty breaks, exercise, and attention. I am available for walks, drop-in visits, daycare, and overnight care depending on your pet’s needs. I provide a calm, loving, and supervised environment and carefully follow each pet owner’s instructions regarding feeding, medications, walks, crate routines, and special needs. I also provide regular updates and photos so you can feel confident that your pet is happy and well cared for while you’re away.
About: I'm on the same wavelength with animals: saved, took care of them, loved - from puppies to parrots. Each ponytail left a trace in my heart. Pet care is part of my everyday life🐶 I feed, walk, and play with the dogs daily, making sure they feel very happy and comfortable🐾 I’m happy to take your dogs on as many walks or hikes as they’d like, and I always make sure they get the attention, care, and love they deserve. Whether it’s an active adventure or a calm, relaxed walk, I adjust to each dog’s needs and personality.

We loved having Jordyn watch our dog, Hank! She was so great about keeping us updated and sending lots of pictures, which gave us such peace of mind while we were away. Hank seemed so happy when we got home, too! We had a not-so-great experience with a previous sitter, so Jordyn was truly a breath of fresh air. We’d absolutely recommend her & use her again!

This is the second time Brooke watched my girls for me, she’s great! Olive was diagnosed with an ear infection just a couple of days before I left town and Brooke did a fantastic job making sure she got her ear drops every day. Also, she sends me the best puppy pictures🩷

Vicki is seriously amazing, she sent pics and videos throughout the day with Dexter and he just loves her so much! We’re always so cautious and nervous leaving Dexter with people we don’t really know but we knew since the meet and greet that she would be perfect. We are 100% planning to keep using her.

Kelly is one of a kind! First, she took the time and effort to meet up with us before the sit to make sure everything was clear and comfortable. She is very communicative (sent photos and updates regularly) and timely in her responses regarding scheduling. Murray was happy and calm when we got home, and the house was perfect. I never once felt anxious with Kelly at the house with him. Thank you Kelly!

I was very grateful to have found Elizabeth on Rover! She housesat for us and took care of our three cats. One of them suffered a health issue right before we had to go away and Elizabeth went above and beyond to provide excellent care for him including administration of multiple meds. She kept me well informed the entire time. Our other cats benefitted from her caring attenton as well. She also took excellent care of our home. I would absolutely book her again and I know my kitties would be happy to have her back!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Contra Costa Centre on Rover is $83.25 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 8,745 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Contra Costa Centre. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Contra Costa Centre walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Contra Costa Centre maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Contra Costa Centre choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Contra Costa Centre. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
