“Courtney did a wonderful job taking care of Apple and Shelby over a long weekend! She had great communication throughout our trip, left our house clean and in good shape, and took excellent care of both dogs. It was clear she followed all of our instructions, and we came home to two happy, well-cared-for pups.”

About: Hello! My name is Mary and I’m a retired grandmother who has been a dog owner and dog lover all my life. Although I’m not able to own a furry friend in my home right now, I often take care of my children’s and relative’s dogs whenever needed. I completely understand the importance of feeling at ease with someone in your home taking care of your loved one. Being retired opens up my availability to be flexible to accommodate your needs. Any day, any time, any length, regardless of Holidays or school schedules. I’ve cared for children, grandchildren, and animals my whole life. I am responsible and dependable and love them unconditionally. I will be respectful of your home and your privacy throughout my house sitting stay.
“My husband and I have had a hard time finding the right sitter to watch our fur babies since moving to California, but now we don't have to look any further. Aida was absolutely amazing with our girls. Her communication was impeccable, she followed all of the instructions, left the house spotless, and most importantly our pups were happy and relaxed as if we had never left. We are excited to book more trips knowing our pups will be well looked after. Thank you for everything Aida!”

“Rachael rearranged her plans at the last minute to spend the weekend with Izzy and Thor, and I couldn’t be more grateful. She went above and beyond to make sure they were cared for and happy!!”

“Vicki did a phenomenal job taking care of our boy Mylo. Mylo had to get some emergency stitches the day before we were going out of town. Vicki handled his care perfectly, sent us regular updates and dealt with all the drama that comes with Mylo having to wear a cone. We cannot thank her enough and absolutely would recommend her to everyone else.”

“Annie did an amazing job housesitting our two dogs while we were out of state visitng family and friends. She sent many updates and photos, was incredibly prompt and courteous, and gave us the gift of peace of mind while away from our pups - which is something that's hard for me! We will certainly be booking Annie again and I encourage others to consider Annie when looking for execllent pet care.”

“Monica is amazing! She took such good care of our pups; specialized walks depending on energy levels, park play, spent time giving attention and love to them while being on top of all medicines or ointments. My dogs absolutely adore her and I will definitely book again and again with her! 🐶🩷🐶🩷”

“Elizabeth took such good care of our dog while we were away for our trip. She sent updates and photos daily and made sure our dog was comfortable and loved every day. We highly recommend Elizabeth for anyone who is in need of someone to watch after their pet and home.”

“This is our second time working with Diana and we can’t recommend her enough. Our old dogs can be pretty high maintenance, but she does a great job caring for them when we’re away. Thank you!”

“Julia is absolutely wonderful. My pups were well taken care of, and I got daily pictures and updates which is always appreciated! She went above and beyond and washed the sheets and remade the bed before she left. Highly recommended her services!”

“I really don't want to leave this review because I don't want Isaiah to get booked out where I can no longer get him on dates I need lol. I have had a hard time finding someone comfortable enough to dog sit a pitbull and also give my pup the medications she needs. Isaiah was so good with my female Nahla, it takes her time to warm up but he went on a couple walks with us to get comfortable. Well when I left for my first vacation this year, Isaiah sent me photos and updates throughout the day. It made relaxing so much easier. He took her to the park to play fetch and for walks. He had my house exactly how it was when I left it. I'm definitely booking him again. Thank you so much Isaiah 🙏🏾”

About: I’ve spent years caring for others through nannying and customer service roles, so being dependable, attentive, and patient comes naturally to me. I have experience working at a veterinary hospital as a receptionist and have done pet sitting for a few years now. I truly love being around animals and make sure every pet feels safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. I also enjoy staying active with walks, playtime, and giving pets plenty of companionship and affection. I'm currently working part time so my schedule is very flexible at the moment. I'm hoping to mainly focus on building my pet sitting business. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I do my best to keep their routine as normal and comfortable as possible. I follow all feeding, walking, medication, and care instructions carefully while making sure pets get plenty of attention, playtime, and companionship. I understand that being away from their owners can be stressful for some pets, so I focus on creating a calm, safe, and loving environment while keeping owners updated with messages and photos.
“We went outof town for the day and Lara watched our dog while we were away. While our dog is older, doesn't want to go outside much, and is afraid of people he does not know well, Lara was able to take him on several walks during the and kept us updated while we were out by sending us pictures of our dog throughout the day. Lara understands dogs well, and we felt confident having Lara care for our dog during the day. I would definitely recommend Lara to other friends who need dog care.”

“We couldn’t be more pleased and appreciative to leave our Lilly with Brittany. So comforting to know she is being cared for by such a professional and pet loving person. 5 Stars and would give her more if we could!”

“Leaving our dogs at home is always the hardest part of traveling, and we naturally worry about them. We’re so glad we found Efraim and the dogs absolutely love him! He did a wonderful job taking care of them while we were away. He was also very patient with our senior dog, who can be quite picky and slow with food, which we truly appreciated. We loved the updates he sent, gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. Thank you so much, Efraim! We truly appreciate the care you gave our dogs and will definitely book with him again in the future.”

About: Like, I REALLY love dogs. As a young girl, I started my own dog walking business, attended SPCA summer camp, and spent an entire family vacation in Mexico feeding treats to stray dogs instead of going to the beach. Now I even attend a school where the mascot is a dog! But beyond a general love of pets, I'm lucky enough to have two dogs of my own who I've helped care for since age 9 (shoutout to Tiny and Pepper)! I've also pet sat for many friends and neighbors, and have two years of professional childcare experience (which is a lot more similar to pet care than you might think). Thus I can assure you that I have the skill, responsibility, and attention to detail that it takes to keep your pup both happy and safe while you're away. I'm currently home for the summer, so I have plenty of free time to dedicate to your pup! I'm available to do overnight pet/house-sitting for as long as you need, or even just casual pop-ins to give your dog a walk, potty break, food, and some love! I also have my own car and a valid drivers license, so I'm happy to drive your dog to the dog park, appointments, or anywhere else if that's something you want to make happen. Let me know what you need, and I'm optimistic that I can make it work. Of course, how I conduct myself in your home is entirely up to you. If you are looking for me to take on more of a house/pet-sitting combo, I am happy to keep things clean and stick around for long periods of time to keep your baby company. But if you're more of a "don't-touch-anything-except-the-front-door-handle-and-the-top-of-my-dog's-cute-little-head" person, I totally understand. Just let me know ahead of time what you expect out of my services, and that's what you will get.
“Mia was great. Not only did the pups love her but we did too. She provided constant updates and made us feel very comfortable knowing the dogs were being well taken care of. I will 100% be using Mia again!”

“Gray was excellent with our dog and turtle, as well as with the other aspects of house sitting. He left the house spic and span, with sheets washed and dried when we got back home. He is very easy to communicate with and responsive.”

The median cost per night for house sitting in Alamo is $75

Trevor took great care of our puppy! He was communicative throughout the visit, checking in when he arrived and again before he left. He also sent us photos, which gave us great peace of mind. We’re so happy with the care he provided and truly appreciate how well he looked after our little fur baby. We would definitely book with him again!

Courtney did a wonderful job taking care of Apple and Shelby over a long weekend! She had great communication throughout our trip, left our house clean and in good shape, and took excellent care of both dogs. It was clear she followed all of our instructions, and we came home to two happy, well-cared-for pups.

Savannah watched our dog, Bruce, for a few days while we were out of town. Bruce has a kind heart but can be wary/temperamental with strangers. Not only did Savannah hit it off with Bruce immediately, she took excellent care of both our boy and our house. She followed all instructions and left the house spotless. Bruce even had a stomach issue while we were gone and Savannah went above and beyond in cleaning it up and making sure Bruce was okay. She gave us constant updates while we were gone and Bruce was so happy to have her around. Savannah has a delightful, calm, and attentive personality, and Bruce thrived in her company. We had absolutely no worries with Bruce in her care, we were able to relax on our vacation, and would have Savannah back in a heartbeat. Bruce and our whole family are so thankful to have met her!!

Rylie is a frikin rockstar!! We were desperately searching for overnight boarding care for our small Maltese and it was safe to say that we made the right choice picking Rylie. As soon as she walked through the door, our dog immediately loved her. She was so kind and courteous, and kept in touch sending updates, which made us feel that much more comfortable. We are definitely going to book her in the future. Thank you again so so much Rylie you are the BEST!

Vicki was great. This is the first time we’ve left our dog with somebody outside of family/a close friend and he seemed absolutely thrilled to have a new person to meet and hang with. Vicki kept us regularly updated with pictures, and assured us all was going well. We will definitely use Vicki again in the future.

Amber was absolutely amazing with my two bulldogs, Chunky and Jelly! She came by before the stay to meet them, learn their routine, and ask thoughtful questions so she knew exactly what was expected. The weekend I was away was scorching hot, and she made sure the dogs (and herself!) stayed safe and comfortable. She sent updates and photos a couple times a day, my pups looked so happy and relaxed! Amber even went above and beyond by helping clean up dog messes. It’s clear she truly loves animals and takes pride in her work. I came home to happy pups and a stress-free experience. I will definitely be hiring her again!

Emily is the kind of sitter you hope to find but rarely do. She welcomed all four of my animals with open arms like they were part of her own pack. I came home to a house so clean it looked like it had been staged for a magazine, plus the sweetest surprise, printed photos of my fur babies from while I was away. She’s not just wonderful with pets, she’s warm, thoughtful, and feels like a friend you’ve known forever. My animals were happy, relaxed, and maybe even a little sad I was back instead of Emily! If you’re lucky enough to book her, do it; your pets (and your home) will thank you.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Alamo on Rover is $78.85 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 9,199 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Alamo. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Alamo walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Alamo maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Alamo choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Alamo. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
