We appreciated the way she tracked their schedule and went above and beyond cleaning up after them in our yard. It definitely made our time away more relaxing.

About: Hey there! 🐾 I've been surrounded by pets all my life, so caring for furry friends comes naturally to me. When I'm not at the elementary school where I work, you can find me enjoying the outdoors, often with a canine companion by my side. I'm excited to meet your pets and provide them with the love and attention they deserve plus gain some daily morning exercise while walking your dog! I'm looking to be able to walk dogs early in the morning before my Kids' Country job around 10am. If possible, I can do drop in visits afterward 6:30pm. I'm fully available Saturday and Sunday. I have a fenced in yard to give dogs some freedom, but I am looking to give dogs walks as often as possible around the Danville/ Alamo/ Blackhawk and San Ramon areas.

Aida is great. She sat the house and my 15 year old cockapoo and 8 year old cat for five days. The fur babies loved her, she was in regular contact with me and sent photos once in a while (but also did not overload me with them, either). The house was in great condition when I got home. Couldn't ask for more. I will hire her again, except she is in high demand and you will need to book early.

Isaiah was very responsive and sent daily picture/updates. I felt extremely comfortable and at ease knowing he was taking great care of my fur babes. He left the house in great condition and was very respectful.

About: What sets me apart is my hands-on experience caring for pets of all ages, sizes, and personalities. I currently care for 1 cat and 3 dogs ranging from 2 to 13 years old, so I’m very comfortable with both energetic young pets and senior animals who need extra patience and attention. I understand the importance of keeping pets safe, comfortable, and on their routine, and I always treat every pet like they’re my own. I can check in or spend nights housesitting any day of the week, as I’m very open these coming months. And I love spending time with animals. I have a big backyard with a fence and two friendly dogs and cats, both can be crated or moved to another house if needed.

About: Ive grown up with dogs all my life and always enjoyed spending time with them when I had the chance. Now that I’m older I help friends, family, neighbors and everyone with their pets- be it checking in, feeding, bathing, house sitting, walking, giving medication, or just keeping them company so you can enjoy yourself with peace of mind! I am available most of the weekday especially in the mornings. On the weekends I’m available more often in the afternoons. I’m very flexible and can accommodate to you! I really try to get to know each pet in order to know what they like, what they don't, and their usual routine. This helps me give them the best care possible, so they feel safe and happy, whether I'm just popping in or looking after them for longer!

About: I'm a retired officer, background-checked through Rover, and have more than 10 years of experience caring for my own dogs as well as friends', family members', and clients' pets. Throughout my career and personal life, responsibility, trustworthiness, and attention to detail have always been important to me, and I bring those same qualities to every pet I care for. In 2016, I adopted Barney the Shih Tzu, followed by Jack in 2019. Both were estimated to be about four years old at the time. In 2025, Jack passed away from bone cancer, giving me firsthand experience caring for a senior dog with significant medical needs. In 2022, I rescued Penny, the white pup in my profile photo. Certifications & Experience • Cat & Dog First Aid (American Red Cross) • Experience administering oral medications • Experience caring for senior pets and pets with special needs • Experience caring for dogs and cats of various ages, sizes, and temperaments, including a large Rottweiler I believe every pet deserves patience, kindness, consistency, and individualized care. Whether your pet is energetic and playful, senior and slower-paced, or simply happiest sticking to a familiar routine, my goal is to provide dependable care while helping them feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you're away. Pet care is a natural part of my daily routine, and I'm home much of the time. This allows me to provide regular companionship, potty breaks, feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and supervision throughout the day. Because I intentionally limit the number of pets I care for at one time, I am able to provide a more personalized level of attention and maintain a calmer environment for the pets in my care. Whether caring for pets in my home or in a client's home, I strive to maintain their normal routine as closely as possible. Consistency helps pets feel comfortable, secure, and relaxed while their owners are away. My schedule is generally flexible, allowing me to accommodate a variety of care needs, including daycare, overnight care, drop-in visits, and pet sitting in a client's home. Pick-up and drop-off service may be available depending on distance and scheduling. My dogs are part of the family and spend much of their time relaxing near us, on the furniture, or curled up on a lap. Visiting pets are treated with the same level of care, attention, and companionship while in my home. Dogs are welcome on furniture unless owners request otherwise. I intentionally limit the number of guest dogs I accept at one time to help create a calm, safe, and low-stress environment. This allows me to provide close supervision and a more personalized experience than many high-volume pet care settings. If you prefer your dog to be crated for sleeping, feeding, or when unattended, I'm happy to accommodate as long as a crate is provided. Visiting dogs should be reasonably housebroken, with exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis for puppies and special circumstances. Meet-and-greets are strongly preferred whenever possible before services begin. They allow me to learn about your pet's personality, needs, and comfort level while helping determine whether my home and care style are a good fit. When caring for pets in a client's home, I respect both the pet's routine and the owner's home, providing dependable care, companionship, exercise, and attentive supervision. I believe every pet deserves patience, kindness, consistency, and respect. My goal is to provide a safe, comfortable environment where pets can feel relaxed, secure, and well cared for while their owners are away.

Aaron stayed at our house for five days caring for our two dogs while we were out of town. One of our pets is a 95lb shepherd mix with aggression towards other dogs, the other a young girl still working on socialization, so we have to be very cautious when selecting a sitter. Aaron was wonderful with both dogs! He worked daily with each of them individually on behavior modification and cared for them just as we would. We received daily communication and photos of their activities and we never worried about them for a minute. When we arrived home the mail was left neatly on the counter for us, the house was spotless and the dogs were happy. We highly recommend Aaron even though we would like to keep him all to ourselves! ?

We can’t begin to thank Kristi enough for coming to our rescue and taking fabulous care of our lab Dexter and our itty bitty kitty Willy ! She cared for our home like it was her own, everything was right in its place when we got home. Her communication with us while we were gone was fantastic, she let us know every step of the way how things were going and the pictures and videos were so fun to receive!! We wouldn’t give it a second thought to take full advantage of Kristi’s services again when needed !

FAQs for House Sitting - Diablo

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Diablo on Rover is $96.01 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of June 2026, there are 9,435 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Diablo. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Diablo walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Diablo maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Diablo choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Diablo. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
