“Laura is amazing! Both of my pets adored her from their first meet and greet. Laura was on time, responsive, and send frequent updates while we were away. She left our house spotless and to my surprise even did some chores as a way to go above and beyond. This was my first time booking Laura and am going to feel very comfortable when I have her back for 2.5 weeks in a couple months. I highly recommend Laura for all of your pet and home sitting needs!”

“Vanessa was great with our dogs. She was very observant about their eating and playing habits and provided detailed reports. We loved getting pictures and video of them having fun. We highly recommend her.”

“Jana and Ryan took good care of my two furry babies during their stay at my place. I like the photos they sent me. My dogs felt comfortable playing and walking with them. Will book them again for the pet care in the future 👍”

“Elizabeth took such good care of our dog while we were away for our trip. She sent updates and photos daily and made sure our dog was comfortable and loved every day. We highly recommend Elizabeth for anyone who is in need of someone to watch after their pet and home.”

“Mary did a great job watching my pup while I was away for six days. She gave him lots of attention and short walks (he’s a frenchie so can’t walk too far in the summer). She provided updates and was quick to respond when I reached out, so my mind was at ease while being far away. My place also immaculate upon my return. Overall, I was very pleased and would definitely book Mary again.”

“Mary Jane spent the night with Bodie while I was away for work meetings. She was great, and Bodie was well taken care of. I really appreciated that she checked on him in the afternoon, since I was a delayed returning.”

“Desiree took wonderful care of our dog, cat, Guinea pig, fish and plants for 10 days. Our Guinea pig was sick and required antibiotics as well as feeding through a syringe. Desiree kept the animals happy and comfortable, and even encouraged a bloom from one of my succulents! She sent updates and kept us in the loop with pictures and videos. When we got home, our pets seemed unfazed by our absence! We feel like Desiree truly loves our animals, and we will be booking her again for our next vacation! Thank you Desiree!”

“Had a great experience. Our 2 huskies are very much like siblings, complete opposites of each other. Daryl was great at making sure everything was clear ahead of time, adapted to small situations during and communicating throughout. Would absolutely recommend to anyone.”

“Monica is amazing! She took such good care of our pups; specialized walks depending on energy levels, park play, spent time giving attention and love to them while being on top of all medicines or ointments. My dogs absolutely adore her and I will definitely book again and again with her! 🐶🩷🐶🩷”

“Annie did an amazing job housesitting our two dogs while we were out of state visitng family and friends. She sent many updates and photos, was incredibly prompt and courteous, and gave us the gift of peace of mind while away from our pups - which is something that's hard for me! We will certainly be booking Annie again and I encourage others to consider Annie when looking for execllent pet care.”

About: Since I was a kid, I’ve taken care of dogs from small dachshunds to big huskies. The longest I’ve taken care of dogs were two huskies who lived up to be nearly 17 years old ever since they were nearly a year old. Due to health complications, I took responsibility to provide medicine in their meals, trips to the vet, bathing them, and giving 5 eye drops a day to one of them. I’m also capable of bathing dogs and brushing them, whether it be in a bath tub or a garden hose outside. I’m currently job hunting for part-time jobs, so I am currently available for the afternoons during week/weekends. I’m available for during the week, from Monday until Saturday. If I’m needed during the mornings, feel free to reach out to me to coordinate. I have a fenced yard and a wooden door on side at home to prevent dogs from running towards the street when locked. l’m capable of providing meals, topical tick medicine, walks, car rides, baths, brushing, and playtime. I’m also capable of giving eye drops and mixing medicine into food for dogs.
“Kristi was the perfect sitter while my wife and I were away for the weekend. She was available on short notice and provided us with plenty of updates and photos of our dogs who were clearly happy to be spending time with her. We felt extremely comfortable leaving our dogs with Kristi and will definitely do so again in the future. Thank you so much Kristi!!!”

“Overall, Sabrina did a great job with Zac, our shy 9-year-old Border Collie mix. She understands dogs and she gently let Zac warm up to her the first day or so after which they had a super 10 days together. Zac was in great spirits when we returned and our home was in good shape - we wouldn't hesitate to ask Sabrina to sit with Zac again in the future, if she is available.”

About: I have taken care of animals since I was young, and have experience with small dogs, medium sized dogs, and cats. I also have experience with senior dogs, and pets with varying levels of energy and diverse temperaments. I am a student with availability on weekdays in the evenings and on the weekends. I look forward to meeting your pets and providing them with care! I care for pets by following best practices in pet care and communicating with pet owners throughout my visits. I pay special attention to directions given by the owners to ensure that pets are comfortable and happy.
“Allie was amazing! She was incredibly trustworthy, communicative, attentive, and kind. Since she’s also a dog trainer, she knew exactly how to handle a young puppy and made us feel completely at ease leaving Churro with her. She even taught Churro some new things while we were away! We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter and would absolutely recommend her.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Blackhawk
Emily was great. The dogs seemed very happy and well taken care of. The house was in good shape, other than some spillage in the refrig. Overall, we'd give her a five-star review. We'd leave a tip, but we bought quite a bit of food for Emily to eat during our vacation, so we consider that our tip.
Nick and Sarah felt like good friends the minute they walked in the door - attention to Chappie and good conversation with my husband and me. Our conversation left me confident that their feeding and care routines would keep Chappie feeling safe and happy. They sent us pictures of a sleepy pup snuggling on the couch with them and later stopping at his favorite sniff-places while walking. He was in heaven with their attention, and we were so happy to see his enjoyment.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Blackhawk walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Blackhawk maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Blackhawk choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Blackhawk. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
