Heather took great care of our three high maintenance dogs! We've got two young, active dogs and an old grandpa guy. Lots of medications and different diets for everyone. Heather took great care of everyone and met everyone's individual needs! We got picture updates and everyone always looked loved and happy. We will hire Heather again for sure.

Sydney was the best host I could possibly ask for. She kept my puppy for two days, and because of her frequent updates and pictures I was able to spend time with my family overseas stress-free. I know I’ve found someone I can trust for a long time with my fur-baby, I hope you too will give Sydney a chance. Tbh I didn’t want to leave such a glowing review for her because I know she’ll be booked out for the rest of the year then - she’s a hidden gem, you truly wont regret having her be your pet’s caretaker. Thank you again for your help, I really really appreciate it Sydney

I cannot recommend Paulo highly enough. He was amazing with our two dogs, but especially with our anxious & reactive boxer, Beau. It has been a challenge to find someone who understands how to interact with a reactive dog but Paulo was incredible from the start. He is clearly knowledgeable of dogs & was proactive in making sure that his first meeting with Beau was a positive experience. He kept me informed & was patient with Beau even when he was too anxious to eat. Paulo spent quality time with both dogs & it was clear that they enjoyed their time with him. He was even able to take both dogs for a walk together which we haven’t been able to do in two years! I can not express how much of a relief it is to know that your dogs are in good, kind, capable hands when you are not able to be there. Paulo, you truly have a customer for life!

We reached out last minute when our first human baby decided to make her grand entrance to the world earlier than expected and are just so grateful our pups got to be cared for by Antonio again. He truly takes care of our pups as if they are his own and his willingness AND ability to accommodate whatever might come up for them means so much to my family! Thank you, Antonio!

Dominic and Mariam were very accommodating in our request for a meet and greet before our scheduled pet sitting. Our ol' boy Jack doesn't always take to everyone so we wanted to introduce ourselves to the sitters to see how it went. Jack immediately took to Dominic and Mariam. They have good energy and met Jack on his terms. After a short visit we felt comfortable and knew we were leaving our boy in good hands. Jack is a senior and requires oral medication and a lot of attention. He also rides in a stroller to get to the park. None of these needs were of issue to Dominic and Mariam. They tended to our boy with care and gave him plenty of park time. We received photos and updates during the sit. They left our home nice and clean as if it were theirs. A trusted sitter for your pet and home. Will use again in the future and recommend them for your pet's needs. We also needed someone who worked from home so Jack wouldn't be left alone for too long. They fit the bill on this requirement too. They are professional, responsible, caring and respectful.

About: I have been an animal lover my whole life, from fostering puppies and kittens from the animal shelter to raising many dogs and cats! My family raised me to be an animal lover as we care for animals in such a different way. I have done overnight sittings, walkings, and day care visits for many friends and family and decided to join here to expand my abilities! I love getting to know all different kinds of animals and being able to provide them the love and care they need while their owners are away. I am currently going to start sonography school and I am not able to work a full-time job as a result I would love to watch your babies.I usually like to go for walks so it would be easy to fit any animal in my schedule as well! I have a big teddy bear of a dog that is the most spoiled rescue dog ever! If i am staying at the owners house I let them feel comfortable sleeping with me and I always clean up after myself if at someone else’s house and make sure to always keep the house tidy!

Whether your dog is high-energy or prefers a slower pace, I tailor their care to fit their individual needs. I treat every dog like one of my own and strive to provide a safe, enriching, and stress free stay so you can have peace of mind while you're away. I'm experienced with dogs of all ages, from young puppies to seniors. Having raised multiple litters, I'm comfortable with puppy routines, potty training, and socialization, while also understanding the patience and attention senior dogs need, including medication administration and mobility support. I am not taking on reactive/aggressive dogs at this time unless they can be kenneled outside of the home. Reach out to discuss. Full time dog boarder and trainer working from home. I provide 24/7 care as if your dog was one of my own. Pickup and drop off hours in morning or evening. Very limited afternoon pickup/drop off availability. 5 acres fully fenced in along with smaller fenced in play yards. Home is air conditioned. Dogs can either exercise on the full property if recall trained or in one of the smaller, 6ft tall play yard areas if they need a smaller enclosed area.

About: Hello! My name is Aileen, I am 23 years old. I have always loved animals since I was a kid. I’ve always been a huge dog person but I love cats as well. I give animals so much care, comfort, and love like they deserve. I treat my dogs the same and I love them to pieces. I have a small Maltese named Bonbon and a yorkie mix named Lilo! My uncles have traveled a lot over the years and they have 5-6 dogs that I would come feed and check on them daily. I am very trustworthy and I will make sure your dogs get the care they need. What sets me apart from other sitters is that I will love your dog like they’re my own. I am currently attending Diablo Valley College but only for the summer. I do have a set schedule for my homework and pet care. I am currently a part time caregiver for children on the spectrum. I work with my client Wednesdays and during the weekend. The rest of the week is for me to dogsit/dog walk. I have lots of experience dog sitting and I will make sure to put your pet as my priority when they are in my care.

About: I currently have a dog and have had another dog previously. I currently work in special education and also support my mother who has progressing dementia. I intend on making sure needs are being met while maintaining and building relationships. I’m working full time as a teacher and going to school full-time. I currently walk my dog the morning before going to work and when I arrive home. I’m flexible on the weekends and some week days. Since I work for the school I get a lot of holidays and week breaks, so I am able to have more availability. I ensure their needs are met by taking them for walks, feeding them, and ensuring they’re using the bathroom. I also give baths to keep them smelling fresh.

Antonio and his partner were absolutely wonderful with my dog! My pup is a high energy 120+ lb rescue with past negative experiences with humans so he has a tendency to be very slow to trust new people. He picks up on fear or hesitation immediately, which usually makes him leery. From the start, Antonio was patient, calm, and let my dog approach at his own pace until he felt safe. To my surprise, my dog took to both Antonio and his partner right away! They are warm, gentle, and remarkably perceptive, adjusting their approach to match the dog's needs. It is clear they genuinely love animals, and I think dogs pick up on that authentic energy. Because they were able to tag-team, they kept my dog’s routine consistent and ensured he was never left alone for long. They played with him, sent regular updates and photos, responded quickly, and even got him some new toys. The video they sent the first day gave me complete peace of mind and I was able to actually enjoy my trip knowing my dog was in such capable and caring hands. I am so grateful for this experience and cannot recommend Antonio enough!

FAQs for House Sitting - Stewartville

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 5,488 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Stewartville. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Stewartville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Stewartville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Stewartville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Stewartville. On Rover:

  • 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
