“April did an amazing job taking care of our pets and home while we were on vacation. She sent frequent updates and photos and made us feel very comfortable that our pets were in good hands, allowing us to really enjoy our vacation without worry.”

“This is our second time working with Diana and we can’t recommend her enough. Our old dogs can be pretty high maintenance, but she does a great job caring for them when we’re away. Thank you!”

“I am very happy with her service. Our puppies were looks happy with her. She visited us couple times beforehand and checked with us if any information she needed to know to take care of our puppies. A She also took care of my beloved plants. I will recommend her to anyone. Thank you Rebecca for all the help!”

“Trevor was a fantastic pet sitter for our senior dog. He came over with basically no notice when the current sitter was flaking out. He made us feel immediately at ease in how he communicated and cared for our dog. I felt such a relief once he was in the house and with our girl. He provided walks and great companionship while we were away. I will definitely have Trevor back to sit again while we're away.”

“Monica is amazing! She took such good care of our pups; specialized walks depending on energy levels, park play, spent time giving attention and love to them while being on top of all medicines or ointments. My dogs absolutely adore her and I will definitely book again and again with her! 🐶🩷🐶🩷”

About: I’ve spent years caring for others through nannying and customer service roles, so being dependable, attentive, and patient comes naturally to me. I have experience working at a veterinary hospital as a receptionist and have done pet sitting for a few years now. I truly love being around animals and make sure every pet feels safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. I also enjoy staying active with walks, playtime, and giving pets plenty of companionship and affection. I'm currently working part time so my schedule is very flexible at the moment. I'm hoping to mainly focus on building my pet sitting business. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I do my best to keep their routine as normal and comfortable as possible. I follow all feeding, walking, medication, and care instructions carefully while making sure pets get plenty of attention, playtime, and companionship. I understand that being away from their owners can be stressful for some pets, so I focus on creating a calm, safe, and loving environment while keeping owners updated with messages and photos.
“Sydney was the best host I could possibly ask for. She kept my puppy for two days, and because of her frequent updates and pictures I was able to spend time with my family overseas stress-free. I know I’ve found someone I can trust for a long time with my fur-baby, I hope you too will give Sydney a chance. Tbh I didn’t want to leave such a glowing review for her because I know she’ll be booked out for the rest of the year then - she’s a hidden gem, you truly wont regret having her be your pet’s caretaker. Thank you again for your help, I really really appreciate it Sydney”

About: I worked at East Hills Veterinary Hospital for 1.5 years from 2023-2025. I have dog walked and pet sat (both cats and dogs) for neighbors, family, and friends for the past 3 years. My mom is a veterinarian and has taught me how to medicate cats and trim nails on mild tempered cats. I have 4 cats and 3 small dogs at home who I regularly take care of. I’m currently a college student home for the summer and living locally. I have a car and am able to create a specialized schedule based on what my clients need from me. I am flexible with timing and will only be gone for 2 weeks this summer, one at the end of July and one at the start of August. I have three small dogs and four cats at home. I’m used to feeding my pets, changing litter boxes, medicating my pets if need be, and trimming nails for cats - but only if they have a mild temper. I walk my dogs a couple times a week and play fetch with my yorkie Neville. I have a fenced in backyard and like to hang outside with them and read books and let them run around.
“As always, Myra provided generous and attentive care to our dog over a holiday weekend. Myra brings experience, good judgment and genuine affection to every dog-sitting engagement. Highly recommend her!”

“Heather took great care of our three high maintenance dogs! We've got two young, active dogs and an old grandpa guy. Lots of medications and different diets for everyone. Heather took great care of everyone and met everyone's individual needs! We got picture updates and everyone always looked loved and happy. We will hire Heather again for sure.”
“I had a great experience with this sitter! Antonio was so nice and responsive, keeping me updated throughout the stay. The pups were clearly well taken care of and happy. He left the house clean and followed instructions provided. Will definitely be using Antonio again!”

“Mia was great. Not only did the pups love her but we did too. She provided constant updates and made us feel very comfortable knowing the dogs were being well taken care of. I will 100% be using Mia again!”

About: I have pet sat for my friends and family, varying from German Shepard, doodles, dachshund, and my own pugs. I think of my dogs like my own kids and I would treat yours like they were your children. Happy to pet sit and walk your dogs as I get my steps in! I currently work part time and have the capacity to check in on dogs and do overnight stays. I am happy to care for your dogs during work hours, excursions, or travel. I would walk the dogs depending on how much exercise they need and the weather. I would play with them and feed them and ensure they have plenty of water and get their potty breaks.

I have years of experience caring for both dogs and cats, including senior pets and those with medical needs. I’m comfortable administering oral medications, eye drops, and saline injections when prescribed by a veterinarian. As a pet owner myself, I understand how important it is to find someone trustworthy, dependable, and attentive. I’ll care for your pets as if they were my own and keep you updated with photos and messages while you’re away. I’m currently taking time off from teaching to return to school full-time, which gives me a flexible schedule and plenty of time to dedicate to pet care. I’m available throughout the summer and can accommodate morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend visits. I understand how important consistency is for pets, so I do my best to maintain their normal routine, whether that includes walks, meals, playtime, medications, or simply providing companionship while you’re away. “Isaiah is wonderful to have!! Was very communicative while we gone. Gave great updates and sent pictures! Our Willow loved him! He took her for walks. He also put all the bedding, towels and rugs he used in the washing machine. Incredible! House was immaculate when we got home. Will definitely use him again!!”

“This was our first time using Rover for our 2 toy poodles and we could not be happier. Calvin is THE BEST! He kept us updated with pictures throughout our weekend getaway and took the best care of our fur babies, and our condo! We’ll definitely have Calvin watch our puppies from now on and can’t thank him enough for everything. If we could give more than 5 stars we would!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Clayton
Carla house sat and watched my cats for the first time this weekend and we already have her booked again for another trip in a few weeks! I appreciated her attention detail and how responsive she was any time I reached out. She sent regular updates and pictures, and my kitties warmed up to her very quickly too! I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a pet sitter!

Sydney was wonderful with my dog Joy! We felt so comfortable knowing she was taking good care of her. When a few issues came up with my dog’s behavior, Sydney was very communicative and collaborative with problem solving. Very responsive and attentive. Highly recommend!

This was our first time using Rover and our first time ever having a house sitter, so we were understandably a bit nervous going into it. Lexx immediately put us at ease. She stayed with our cat Jax for four nights and was fantastic throughout the entire stay. Her communication was excellent — she kept us updated regularly and shared thoughtful updates that made it easy to relax while we were away. It was clear Jax was well cared for and comfortable with her. When we returned home, everything was clean, tidy, and exactly as we left it, which we really appreciated. Lexx was respectful of our home and very dependable. Overall, we had a great experience and would absolutely book Lexx again. We’re really glad we found her for our first Rover experience.

The average cost for House Sitting in Clayton on Rover is $42.8 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Clayton walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Clayton maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Clayton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
