“I had the pleasure of having Hunter and Elia house sit and take care of my fur babies -first time ever having a house/dog sitter and I am very happy. Hunter sent pictures and took care of them wonderfully. I will definitely hire them again . They are so sweet and friendly and professional all at the same time! Loved them!”

About: I've lived with animals ever since I was a baby, but I've been taking care of all kinds of animals since I was 10, I am now19! I'm currently going to school to be a veterinarian so taking care of fur babies helps me stay motivated on my long journey. Right now my college is on summer break! So I'm free until night/evening time, when my team has practice for two hours, but other than that, I really don't do anything. Your fur babies will have my undivided attention! When I enter your home and meet your fur baby(ies) for the first time, I will give them the time and space they need to adjust to me. Once they open up, I'll give them all the love and attention they need, and follow the instructions you leave for me to a T. Your pets care and comfortably is the top priority for me.
“Adrian is absolutely wonderful! We have three pugs — our 17-year-old senior who needs help getting around, our 14-year-old special needs baby, and our energetic 4-year-old who can find trouble in the blink of an eye. Not the easiest crew to care for, but Adrian handled them all with so much love and patience. We came home to three happy, well-cared-for pups, and that means everything to us. When you have seniors with special needs, leaving them isn’t easy — but knowing Adrian was with them gave us complete peace of mind the entire time we were away. We couldn’t recommend Adrian more. If you’re looking for someone who will truly treat your pets like family, look no further!”

About: I have been an animal lover my whole life, from fostering puppies and kittens from the animal shelter to raising many dogs and cats! My family raised me to be an animal lover as we care for animals in such a different way. I have done overnight sittings, walkings, and day care visits for many friends and family and decided to join here to expand my abilities! I love getting to know all different kinds of animals and being able to provide them the love and care they need while their owners are away. I am currently going to start sonography school and I am not able to work a full-time job as a result I would love to watch your babies.I usually like to go for walks so it would be easy to fit any animal in my schedule as well! I have a big teddy bear of a dog that is the most spoiled rescue dog ever! If i am staying at the owners house I let them feel comfortable sleeping with me and I always clean up after myself if at someone else’s house and make sure to always keep the house tidy!

About: Although I'm new to professional pet sitting, I've always loved animals and have hands-on experience caring for them. For the past six months, I've volunteered at a local animal shelter, where I've helped care for dogs and cats of all ages and sizes by feeding, cleaning, walking, socializing, and making sure they felt safe and comfortable. I'm patient, dependable, and treat every pet like they're my own. I'm happy to work with you to find a schedule that works for both of us. Your pet's safety and comfort are my top priorities. I always follow the owner's care instructions, including feeding schedules, walks, medications (if needed), and any special routines. Through my volunteer experience at an animal shelter, I've learned how to safely handle dogs with different personalities and needs. I'll treat your pet like one of my own and provide regular updates so you can feel confident they're in caring, trustworthy hands.

“So grateful for Cheri’s care for understanding Tibby’s needs. With our dogs anxiety, she allowed the time for him to grow comfortable with her while providing him a safe, comfortable and fun environment. She played with him and took him for walks and shared photos throughout the day. Thank you for taking such great car of our boy.”

“Vanessa is a smooth operator! We hired her as our first house sitter & to look after our 2 cats and dog while we were away for a few days. She is incredibly warm, attentive & a great dog caretaker. Our pup & kitties didn’t skip a beat in their routine. Would recommend Vanessa & would book again!”

About: I love pets and would love to play with them. I took care of my roommate’s cat for 2 years in college and friends have relied on me to play with and walk their dogs. I love all cats and dogs and would love to play and get to know them! I’m very energetic and can usually fit 10k steps in a day. I have more experience with cats, but would love to meet and walk new dogs! I have just graduated from UC Davis, so I am searching for a job. I have a lot of free time, so I am pretty flexible with pet care. I’m pretty strong, patient, and intuitive. Most animals like me and tend to come up to me. I love most pets and they tend to like how ai can match their energy levels, whether we are running around or I’m petting them on the couch.
About: Animals have been part of my life for as long as I can remember, and caring for them comes naturally to me. Since I was 10 years old, I’ve helped care for dogs, cats, fish, and other beloved pets — learning that every animal has their own personality, needs, and way of communicating. Friends and family trust me to walk, feed, bathe, play with, and lovingly care for their pets while they’re away. My goal is always to make pets feel safe, happy, active, and genuinely loved in my care. I’m reliable, attentive, calm under pressure, and treat every pet like family. As a gentle added touch, I’m also experienced in animal reiki, which I’m happy to incorporate during visits if welcomed by both pet and owner to help encourage relaxation and comfort. Whether your pet loves playtime, quiet companionship, or extra patience and reassurance, I’ll meet them where they are with love, warmth and care. I currently work part-time. I have plenty of time to play with your fur babies. I am available most days and weekends, including most holidays. I have a fenced dog-friendly where your dog can roam and play. I have a beautiful lawn and a beautiful tree lined neighborhood for long walks.
About: I’ve taken care of my own dogs, of course. I’m adept at giving medications multiple time a day if needed, as I supported one of my dog through the end of his life. If your dog is up for it, I love going on hikes as well! I often take my brother’s Aussie/ Border collie mix on hikes when I’m in the Bay Area. Ultimately, you’d be doing me a favor by allowing me the opportunity to take care of your dog. I miss having a dog around and would love to give some affection and attention to yours 🙂 I’m a graduate student in her clinical phase so my schedule varies! Currently, I’m off Friday-Monday and have a lot of free time. I will update my schedule regularly with my availability. My apartment has a dog park so your dog would get a lot of outside time along with their walks. If you have any favorite toys that your dog likes, please provide them! My goal is to make your dog feel safe and comfortable.
“OMG! Alejandra did such a good job. The dogs loved her. She was responsive and sent updates and photos each day, which set my mind at ease. I will absolutely use her again and will definitely recommend her to anyone needing pet sitting. Thank you Alejandra”

“Kieran was amazing, house-sitting Luna and Poe. He communicated with us throughout, sent pictures, and I think they liked him better than us. I highly recommend him and will book with him again.”

Hunter and Eila did a great job with our animals. We were very nervous about leaving them as Baby had surgery 8 weeks ago and still was restricted from running and jumping. Even with all the special needs and they were able to navigate our crew. Additionally, they kept the house in great condition while we were gone.

As of August 2026, there are 3,423 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Sand Hill. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sand Hill walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sand Hill maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sand Hill choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Sand Hill. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
