“Angela was great. Above and beyond, especially in responding to a few schedule curve balls. Great communication and only about important questions about Frida. Highly recommend!”

“Kendra was hands down the BEST person to care for our cat and pup, and best is and understatement. I was nervous leaving our puppy Koji because he’s just a ball of anxiety but Kendra was so unbelievably patient and loving, and he ended up being totally fine and completely warmed up her. She was great with updates and photos. I couldn’t have asked for a better sitter to care for them both and tbh I don’t think I could trust anyone else to care my furry babes. Thank you for your love and care Kendra! Sophie and Koji will miss you, but we’ll definitely see you again soon!”

“Linett took great care of our dogs while we were out of town. We have two strong and energetic bully breeds and they definitely got to have lots of adventures and snuggles with her. She was very communicative and shared photos and videos of the doggos while we were gone.”

“Josie is fabulous! She went above and beyond to care for our dog this week, picking him up at his doggie daycare and adding an extra day of care when we were stuck in Mexico on our return travels. We received many pictures and updates, and Odie clearly loves her! Thank you, Josie! Will definitely hire again.”

“Sophia did a great job caring for our dog and cat while we were out of town for a couple nights. We appreciated her proactive and thorough communication and the updates she sent! She bonded quickly with our dog who is not always great with new people. She also gave a lot of tlc to our cat. Our house was spotless when we got home which was so nice to return to! Would definitely recommend Sophia and work with her again!”

“Bryanna was great! Ready to jump in and help in anyway possible. Took a last minute booking that REALLY helped us. Bryanna was more than happy to go over details with us before the sitting. All the questions Bryanna asked us about our dog and his needs made it apparent that our dog would be cared for while we were gone. We came back to a happy, tired, and well-cared for dog! Would absolutely book again 😊”

“Matthew was able to watch Charlie last minute and was great to work with. Matthew kept me updated, sent pictures, and Charlie seemed very happy and well cared for. Will definitely book again!”

“Belinda was amazing! She is so sweet and sent tons of photos and updates throughout the stay. Ignacio loved her (rare for him to bond so quickly with new people) which shows her level of care and thoughtfulness! We would absolutely have her watch iggy again.”

“Michelle was absolutely fabulous! She was able to watch my two dogs on very short notice while I was in Oakland to visit family. My dogs loved her! She took great care of them, taking them on multiple walks throughout the day and providing attention when needed. She we be the first person I reach out to when I am in the Oakland area again. Thank you Michelle!”

About: While I'm new to Rover, I have over 10 years experience taking care of my friends and family's cats, dogs, insects, and plants. I'm excited to start this business on Rover and extend that pet/plant care to the people in my East Bay community! I'm a landscape horticulture student in Oakland, so when I'm not in class, working in my garden, or spending time with my own kitties, I love taking care of my friends, neighbors, and families' pets. They bring so much silliness and happiness into my routine! When walking your dogs or taking care of your pets in your home, respect, safety, and trust are my top priorities. The pet parents I work with know their pets best, and I take their guidance and wishes very seriously. When I'm housesitting, I treat clients' homes with even more respect than I treat my own.
“Erik was on time, and friendly..I really liked him he was great with my dog, and cool to chat with. I'd definitely book with him again and I'd definitely recommend him.. thanks so much for looking after our Hammy and our home..”

“Tami was the absolute best! She sent me lots of pictures and updates on Maggie while I was on vacation and made sure she got plenty of walks and pets and cuddles! I could not recommend Tami enough.”

“Kasey was a wonderful sitter, can’t recommend her enough! She took great care of my two kitties, one of which has asthma and needed special treatment, and she sent helpful updates throughout her stay. My Sophia is normally a HUGE introvert and hides when new people come but she warmed up to Kasey instantly and she shared the cutest cuddly pictures. Kasey was timely and gave my Eloise her inhaler every morning and night during the stay (Eloise even had a coughing fit which Kasey was able to respond to quickly and administer the emergency inhaler). I will definitely be booking with Kasey again for future cat sitting ☺️”

“Wow! What an incredible sitter Hong was. This is the first time I have ever been away from my fur babies and not worried once. She was so communicative the entire time and I came back to happy dogs and a pristine house. If I could give her 10 stars I would! Thank you again Hong. ❤️”

“Noel is amazing and I’m so grateful she was able to stay at my apartment and watch Nala while I was out of town! She was great to work with from the start, and came to meet Nala in advance and make sure she knew everything she’d need to take care of her. She sent me lots of updates, made sure Nala had her medication, and left the house in better shape than when she arrived! Thank you!!”

“Laura’s first time dog sitting for us went smoothly. This was an overnight trip. She sent us photo updates and was responsive when we texted to check in. When we got home, the house was tidy, their water bowls were filled, and Cannoli and Da Vinci were in good spirits. We’ve booked Laura for an extended stay while we’re on an international trip. Thanks, Laura!”

“Rong/Samantha watched our two labradoodles, chickens and multiple reptiles while we were gone for 8 days. She stayed at our home and was very responsive to all our requests. She kept in contact with me on a daily basis. Our dogs liked her and were happy and safe when we came home. Our home was also exactly as we left when we came home which is always appreciated. I would definitely have Rong/Samantha watch our home and pets again!”

Ella took wonderful care of our dogs, Ollie and Rocco, for two weeks while we were away. We came home to a spotless house and two very happy, well-cared-for dogs. You could just tell they’d been getting so much love and attention the whole time we were gone. She sent updates and photos the whole time, which was such a relief. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, reliable sitter.
Tim is amazing! Would rebook him anytime. Super detailed about care and directions, great updates and just overall made me feel at ease about leaving Louie, who has some senior special needs, in his care. It’s hard to find people that are as kind and thoughtful about your pet and home, but Tim is that person. Thank you so much.

Valerie was of tremendous assistance to me during a family emergency. Valerie house sat for me and was very respectful of my space. She was very responsive and communicative in taking care of my trio, which includes my deaf dog. I would highly recommend her for any pet care needs. I will definitely book her again as the need, and her availability, arises.
It’s always a pleasure working with Stephanie. She took excellent care of our pup Louie while we were traveling abroad for a couple weeks this summer. Stephanie is reliable, caring, and communicative. We were able to truly enjoy our vacation knowing Louie was in good hands. Thank you, Stephanie!

Skyler has house/dog sat for us twice now. He asks lots of good questions and always follows any special instructions for our dogs, one being old and needing various medications, and one being very high energy and sometimes reactive. He gives updates and responds readily to messages. I trust him with our dogs and our house, and will request him again!

Rosie did great with my dog, who is an anxious pit bull mix and needs time and space to warm up to people. After only two days, she was already snuggling up to Rosie. We only just moved two months ago and had to leave our regular dogsitter, so I was a bit nervous about this trip, but everything went well!

Bryanna is an amazing pet sitter! She stayed overnight at my home and took wonderful care of my cat, Coco. Every day, she sent me updates with a summary of their activities along with several photos, which I really appreciated and looked forward to. When I returned home, my house was clean and my cat was calm and relaxed. It was clear that Coco felt comfortable, happy, and well cared for with Bryanna, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. I highly recommend Bryanna to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and attentive pet sitter!

Shareese did an outstanding job while caring for our 12 year old dog in our home. We returned from a six day trip to a very relaxed dog that was clearly well loved during our absence. While away, Shareese provided fun and rather artistically composed photo check-ins. We will definitely book again.

Rich is absolutely outstanding. This was the second time he stayed with Remi while we were away for nine days, and I didn’t worry once. Remi is a young, sensitive dog with anxiety and a very specific routine, and Rich handled everything with incredible patience, skill, and genuine care. He did Remi’s mat training, gave all of his medications, took him on walks, managed his anxious moments with calm confidence, and followed all of the routines we’ve worked so hard to establish. It was clear that he cared about helping Remi feel safe and successful, not just getting through the day. Rich also sent thoughtful updates and photos throughout our trip, gave us a detailed report when we returned, and left our house spotless. Finding someone you trust with a dog like Remi is priceless, and Rich has earned that trust completely. I would recommend him without hesitation to anyone, especially if you have a dog with anxiety or behavioral needs. We feel incredibly lucky to have found him.

My sensitive kitty, Mitta, was in great hands with Vivien while I was completely offline for a week. Mitta was immediately in love with Vivien's pets and scratches when we did our meet and greet. It felt really good to be able to trust Mitta was getting some good loving attention and care with her anxiety medication while I was away. Thank you Vivien!

Had an absolutely awesome experience with Angela! She came and house sat for the weekend and took such good care of my dog. Dog got lots of snuggles, walks and playtime, and she left my house spotless. I got lots of photo updates. Really easy to work with, very nice person! Will absolutely be booking you again! :)

FAQs for House Sitting - Emeryville
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Emeryville on Rover is $58.85 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 8,450 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Emeryville. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Emeryville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Emeryville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Emeryville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Emeryville. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
