Alexandra recently stayed at our house for 5 days and care for our two dogs. Our older dog is 16 and is blind and deaf. He requires meds twice a day and needs to be carried outside to pee and poop. Our other dog is an energetic goofball who barks when excited and requires a great deal of reassurance. Alexandra was a pro. She was unflappable. Throughout the week she sent updates every day and pics of happy dogs! The house was left in perfect condition. We couldn’t be happier!

Mason is an AMAZING dog sitter. He stayed with our dog Harley for about 10 days over the holiday break. He took great care of her AND of our house. He's responsible, responsive, and Harley loved him. Here's all the proof you need: Mason stopped by our house the day after we got back from our vacation. When Harley saw him at the door, she ran to him, started spinning circles, wagging her tail and then cuddled up to him like he was family. I highly recommend Mason and plan on working with him again. Harley is usually suspicious of new people but instantly took to Mason at the meet and greet. While we were away, he took her on lots of walks both in the neighborhood and around Tilden Park. Harley can be reactive to other dogs, but Mason had good strategies for dealing with it on these walks -- he's clearly experienced and knew exactly what to do. He also played fetch and rope tug in our back yard, and took care of her daily meds as well. Mason sent us photos each day, responded quickly when we texted him through the app, and when our return flight was delayed, he agreed to stay a few extra hours. When we got home, the house was sparkling clean, just as we left it. What more could you ask for? Thanks Mason!

Rachael did a wonderful job house sitting our senior terrier mix, Jock. He can be shy with strangers but took to Rachael right away. Her communication was great - a daily update with lots of pictures (it was very clear how relaxed he was). I highly recommended her and will likely use her services again in future.

Matt and Cheri have been great. I highly recommend Matt as a dog sitter, especially for pets with specific medical needs. Matt recently cared for my diabetic dog, Piper, which required a complex routine of feeding on a precise schedule, administering insulin, and managing daily walks. He handled everything exceptionally well, ensuring that Piper’s glucose levels stayed within the target range—our biggest concern. Matt’s reliability and attention to detail gave us peace of mind while we were away. Piper was in great hands!

We joined Rover hoping to connect with someone who is kind, responsible, caring about animals and above all, patient, who we could forge a relationship with that would be durable for the long-term. Ikeena has all of these qualities. As a family that travels regularly, whose family and friends have generally all grown-out of the idea of a week at our place as a mini-getaway, we are so thrilled to have connected with her. We got to know each other over zoom and some schedule walks and impromptu hellos and Ikeena dealt with our nerves of building trust with aplomb. Never were we made to feel silly for wanting to meet again or another walk or for having a several pages long doc about staying at our house and caring for our sweet little brown boy, Chicks. During her recent stay here we barely worried about a thing. Ikeena kept in touch with us regularly and Chicks seriously enjoyed being not just cared for, but spoiled by her. She went above and beyond!

About: Over the last few years I've become my friends, and friends of friends, go to person for pet care! I've always loved animals and grew up with pups in the home. During COVID I started sitting for friends and colleagues of mine who had to return to the office. My flexible WFH schedule gives me plenty of time to go on walks, feeding, and of course play. I also have a pup of my own and am comfortable working with puppies. I work remotely so my schedule is extremely flexible! Here is a rough idea of my schedule, although there is definitely room to move things around: open Mondays, Tuesday’s early morning , open Fri-Sun. I treat every pet that I am with as if they were my own! Every pet has different needs and I pride my myself on noting the needs of each one that is in my care. I always ask owners about house rules as well as their pets like and dislikes so I can make sure I'm keeping them safe and happy. As a pet owner myself, I only hope to give the owners the peace of mind knowing their pet is getting the best care and attention!

About: Hi! I'm Nicole, and I've been caring for dogs through Rover for nearly ten years. I know how important it is to find someone you can genuinely trust with your pet, and I treat every dog in my care as if they were my own. I've had dogs my entire life, including Labs, rescues, and senior pets, and have experience with dogs of many different ages, sizes, personalities, and energy levels. Whether your dog loves long walks, exploring new trails, playing fetch, or simply curling up for a quiet afternoon, I'm happy to meet them where they are. I work primarily from home, which allows me to provide lots of companionship, regular potty breaks, exercise, and attention throughout the day. I love spending time outdoors, and dogs in my care typically enjoy multiple walks each day, along with plenty of rest, enrichment, and affection. I know leaving your dog with someone else can feel stressful, so I make communication a priority. You'll receive regular updates and photos so you can relax knowing your pup is safe, happy, and well cared for. I'd love to meet you and your dog. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions! I work primarily from home, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to spend plenty of quality time with the pets in my care. I do teach a few yoga classes in the evenings, but pets are typically left alone for no more than about three hours at a time. I'm available on weekdays, weekends, and holidays, and I provide overnight house sitting so your pets can stay comfortable in their own home and maintain their normal routine. My goal is to make your time away as stress-free as possible for both you and your pets. I take the time to learn your pet's routine and preferences and follow your instructions closely, from feeding schedules and medications to favorite walking routes and bedtime routines. I'm experienced caring for puppies, senior dogs, rescue dogs, and pets with special needs, including administering medications when needed. Dogs are always walked on leash unless you've told me otherwise, and I prioritize safety, consistency, and calm care at all times. I'll also send regular updates and photos so you can enjoy your trip knowing your pets are happy and well cared for.

When I met Patricia during our meet and greet, I could see that she is a truly lovely and kind person. I look forward to working with her again. Patricia is highly trustworthy, responsible, and most importantly took great care of Ruby, I cannot recommend her services highly enough!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in East Richmond Heights on Rover is $64.88 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 8,174 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across East Richmond Heights. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred East Richmond Heights walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in East Richmond Heights maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in East Richmond Heights choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in East Richmond Heights. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
