Rachael was AMAZING! Your fur babies are in great hands with her. She was extremely attentive to all the special care our senior kitty needed, was quick to reply and easy to get ahold of, and did a fantastic job with all the little extra house tasks while we were away for a few days. Cannot recommend her enough!

About: I volunteer at a dog shelter which has improved my skills in dog walking and understanding dog behavior. I have been taking care of dogs for neighbors, friends and family since I was 12. I walk dogs daily, prepare meals, play with them, and give medication, if needed. Hi. My name is Yesica. I just finished my first year at university, so I am currently on summer vacation. My schedule is open and flexible so I have plenty of time to walk and play with your pets throughout the week. I am also available for housing on weekends and holidays. I care for pets by following their normal routines as closely as possible so they feel comfortable, stress-free and safe. In my house in particular I have a doggy door that I can open and close to make potty breaks and play time outside easily accessible. In both my house and a client’s home, I make sure to keep the environment clean and secure for the animals. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I respect the owner’s instructions, and I provide updates with photos and messages so owners feel reassured while they’re away.

Alexandra was highly communicative - sent pictures and updates and was generally really lovely to work with. She seems to really care for our pet dog Sharki, and took really good care of him and the house. We had some complicated scheduling changes and she went with the flow, and was a respectful guest in our home. We are so grateful we found her!

About: I will love your pet like they were my own and I love to go out and get active!! Whether your dog likes to go on walks, hikes, beach runs or just cuddling up and watching Netflix, my main goal is to make your dog feel comfy and loved! I’ve been pet sitting for over 10 years now and have grown long-lasting bonds with many of the pets I’ve cared for. I live in a 2 bedroom house in East Richmond Heights with my partner of 4 years, Matt, who loves animals just as much as I do! I can’t wait to meet you and your pet. My work is very flexible and I work primarily from home so I have plenty of time to spend with your pets! With the exception of a few 1-2hr work appointments a day, I am free all day or weekend. I have a fenced patio and front yard and a clean/safe home for your pet to feel secure. There are no animals of my own at home so your pet can get all of our attention!

About: Small or large, reactive or secure, your dog will feel at home with me. For the last 10+ years I have been pet sitting and walking my neighbor's pets and this summer I'd like to expand my reach to the rest of the East Bay. I have experience administering medication, cooking food for pets, and making dogs feel at ease in my presence. In the last year or so I have picked up some dog training, and I would be happy to incorporate some of this training into my walks with your pup. Summer 2026 will be an extremely flexible time for me to pick up pet walking/sitting gigs. I have a dog of my own that will join dog walks only if my client is okay with it. I have a fenced yard and a housemate who works from home and loves dogs as well. I make sure my dog gets plenty of time outside and some movement throughout her day.

Mandisa took great care of our little terrier, Luna (who can be a handful some times). I especially appreciated her responsiveness and professionalism throughout the process, which provided such peace of mind, and the notes she left afterward, which were super helpful for managing an issue Luna's been having lately, where she gets so excited by the neighborhood cats that she forgets to potty when you take her outside. Ah, terriers. We look forward to booking with Mandisa agin.

About: I have loved all manner of critters ever since I was little! I would jump on every opportunity to be around animals, from cleaning friends' fish tanks while they were away to taking care of horses and mucking stalls in exchange for riding lessons. We've had our lovely pup Bosco for 12 years (since he was a couple months old). Steve the cat, came to us at just 3 weeks old about 5 years ago, and we took in the newest addition to our family, Kora the cat, a year and a half ago. I currently work from home so I'll be able to spend all day hanging out with and taking care of your pals. My work is very flexible so it goes where I go and scheduling is rarely a challenge no matter the hour! It is very important to me that your best pal has a great time while in my care so if your pet is on a specific schedule don't be afraid to get detailed! I’ve also cared for many animals over the years with medical needs, so I’ve become quite adept at creative pill camouflaging, breathing mask application, and the administration of various kinds of droplets (among other things).

About: I have taken care of pets for over 10 years around the world! Neighbors, friends, families and acquaintances have all trusted me with the livelihoods of their loved ones. I work as a school teacher and am an online grad student but am able to come and go as I please so my schedule is quite flexible! I am very mindful of your pets care, safety and security while they are in my trust. I can crate your pet, calm them down and care for them as per your instruction.

Maria was incredibly conscientious and reached out before the booking to confirm all the details. Throughout my trip, she checked in regularly and sent the sweetest photos of my dog, Sadie, which gave me so much peace of mind. When I returned home, my house was spotless, and it was obvious that Sadie had been well cared for and loved. She was an absolute delight to work with, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring pet sitter. In fact, I've already booked her again for my next trip!

Danielle is fantastic. She took time to get to know our dog before we left the country for a week and asked a lot of questions. She gave our very active 3-year-old pit bull plenty of attention, exercise and love. She also kept us up to date on how things were going and sent photos. We returned home to find a happy and relaxed dog. Danielle is also extremely personable and cool. I plan to hire her again when we need someone to take care of our dog. Hire with total confidence.

Tania has been our primary pet sitter for the past two years and we cannot say enough positive things about our experience working with her! She is amazingly warm, kind, thoughtful, and above all professional! She genuinely cares about our dog, Ernie and takes exceptional care of him. He is a senior dog and is both blind and mostly deaf, but Tania is always thinking of ways to engage and stimulate him - to make sure he has the most positive experience possible. Tania has watched him at our home multiple times, including most recently when we took a 20-day trip to Ireland. We were able to leave our precious fur-kid in Tania’s care with absolutely zero concerns. Not only does Tania take outstanding care of our dog, but she also takes meticulous care of our home. She waters our plants as needed, feeds our backyard squirrels and birds, and ensures that everything is even cleaner and better than we left it. We are so grateful to have found Tania and absolutely love having her care for our dog, Ernie. Tania is simply the best!

We joined Rover hoping to connect with someone who is kind, responsible, caring about animals and above all, patient, who we could forge a relationship with that would be durable for the long-term. Ikeena has all of these qualities. As a family that travels regularly, whose family and friends have generally all grown-out of the idea of a week at our place as a mini-getaway, we are so thrilled to have connected with her. We got to know each other over zoom and some schedule walks and impromptu hellos and Ikeena dealt with our nerves of building trust with aplomb. Never were we made to feel silly for wanting to meet again or another walk or for having a several pages long doc about staying at our house and caring for our sweet little brown boy, Chicks. During her recent stay here we barely worried about a thing. Ikeena kept in touch with us regularly and Chicks seriously enjoyed being not just cared for, but spoiled by her. She went above and beyond!

FAQs for House Sitting - East Richmond Heights

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in East Richmond Heights on Rover is $59.93 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 8,088 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across East Richmond Heights. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred East Richmond Heights walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in East Richmond Heights maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in East Richmond Heights choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in East Richmond Heights. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
