“Our Gracie kitty said it was another wonderful stay with Aunt Tania! When we returned, everything was clean, the plants thriving, and Gracie happy as can be. We can never express our appreciation for what Tania does - knowing our home and our fur-baby are well cared for while we are gone is worth everything.”

“Hollie took excellent care of my foster pup Luna over the holidays. She sent regular updates and photos, checked in if any questions came up, and generally gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. Luna also has a medical issue that requires very specific administration of supplements to her food. I came home to a happy, healthy, relaxed dog. I highly recommend Hollie!”

“Ana is truly the best sitter I have ever worked with. She is so responsive and great at communicating. Several times she’s adjusted last minute to accommodate me. She is also incredibly patient with Cleo who can sometimes be a bit of a diva. I cannot recommend her enough.”

“Aurelia is such a sweet person! We felt totally at ease having her stay in our home and look after Winston while we were away. When we came home, the house was clean and tidy. We were chatting with Aurelia before she left and Winston lay his head on her feet, rolled over, and gave her his paw, as if to say, “She can only leave if she promises to be back!” Needless to say, Aurelia will be a go-to sitter for us. Book her! She’s great!”

“Maria is terrific. She arrived on time and immediately bonded with our dog. She gave him lots of attention and took him for a walk. When we returned home, he was cuddled up against her. She also kept our house neat and clean. I highly recommend her.”

“This is the 4th? time Alexandra has stayed with Sirius at our home and we are forever grateful for the great care she takes of our boy and our home. I can also vouch for her administering meds for him this time as well. There will be many more!”

“Hong was wonderful with our puppy. She kept us up to date with frequent pictures and was so kind and loving to him. He really enjoyed having her care for him and was extremely happy the whole time. I highly recommend her if you are looking for the best care for your pet.”

“So glad to have found Rachel! You can tell she has great animal energy and connected well with my two dogs, both of which have their own quirks. She’s was very communicative, and it gives me such peace of mind knowing my pets are cared for as if they’re her own!”

“Travis and Prativa watched my golden retriever for over two weeks, while I worked outside California. My dog enjoyed being with them. They were both friendly, dependable and very competent. If they stay in Northern California, I would be happy to have them dog sit/house sit for me again.”

“We feel so lucky to have found Anny and her sister, Lucy! They're highly communicative, responsible, attentive, and so warm. We felt very at ease while we were away, and they took great care of our energetic dog and our home. We'll be rebooking them in the future!”

About: I’ve had dogs since I was a child, and caring for animals has always been part of my life. I truly love animals and enjoy spending time with them. I’m responsible, patient, and dependable, and I’ll make sure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and well cared for. I enjoy walking, playing, and giving pets the attention they need while carefully following your instructions. I’ll treat your pet as if they were my own and keep you updated with photos and messages during every visit. I'm currently very flexible and available throughout the week, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Since I have a flexible schedule, I can accommodate regular walks, last-minute bookings when possible, and recurring visits. I enjoy spending time with dogs and always make sure they get the exercise, attention, and care they need. I treat every pet as if they were my own, following each owner's instructions carefully regarding feeding, medication, routines, and exercise. During walks, I always prioritize safety by keeping dogs securely leashed, avoiding unsafe situations, and paying close attention to their behavior. My goal is to make every pet feel comfortable, safe, and happy while giving owners peace of mind.
“Milo and I loved having Rong as a sitter! She's warm, responsible and clearly cares about connecting with animals. We had a lovely time talking during our walk through and she sent wonderful photos of kitty while I was away. Our home was spotless and well cared for upon return. I'd love to have her back soon!”

About: For two years, I spent over 350 hours volunteering with dogs at the SF SPCA, taking all available dog training courses and earning certifications to work with puppies and dogs of all behavioral levels. I also served as a dog “matchmaker” where I helped clients find their perfect companion. My soft spot has always been for the nervous, shy dogs. I love seeing how time, space, and gentleness can open them up. It was incredible to watch them blossom over a few socialization visits and walks, and even more rewarding to help them find a home that would suit them, and their owners, best. I’ve had dogs myself over the years and am a frequent dog and cat sitter for many of my friends with pets. While my volunteer experience has been dog-focused, I'm equally comfortable with cats (have taken care of a house that had 15!) and have cared for more exotic pets too, including a parrot, hedgehog, and ferrets! I'm available for home visits/care for all animals and currently walks up to a mile. Additionally, I have a quiet, pet-friendly home and am able to board on a case by case basis for dogs I've worked with previously. I have experience working with dogs with different behavioral challenges (e.g. leash pulling, on and off leash aggression, very shy, anxious, etc.). Each dog is different, and I’m highly adept at reading cues and adapting based on their needs, as well as taking direction from owners. I'm used to multiple-pet households, complex feeding schedules, and administering medications. If your pet has specific needs I haven't addressed, send me a note! If I have experience in it I'll share, and if it's something I can learn, I'd love to. I want your pet to feel like I'm the next best thing to having you there and want to mimic their usual schedule and routine wherever possible. I’m a potter and am able to make my own schedule, so can accommodate you and your pet’s needs. If they have a favorite park, I'll plan our walks to go there. If they often get treats from a neighborhood shop, I'll include that route in our walk. For visits/walks I'll share a photo and update so you have peace of mind - I'll let you know when I arrive, and when I leave. And if there's anything out of the ordinary, I'll bring it to your attention. I want you to have absolute trust that your pet is getting the best care possible and that I'm looking out for them as if they were my own. I also want them to have the best time and to get excited the next time I see them! As a potter, I set my own hours and have flexibility throughout the day. I can accommodate morning, midday, or afternoon visits and walks, and am generally available for last-minute bookings. For every visit or walk, I'll send a photo and update - letting you know when I arrive, when I leave, and flagging anything out of the ordinary. For boarding, I have a quiet, pet-friendly home and only take dogs I've worked with previously to ensure a good fit. I'm experienced reading behavioral cues and adapting to each dog's needs, and I'll always follow your routines, feeding schedules, and any medical requirements closely.
“He followed all of my instructions to a T and was a great house guest. I really appreciate how fast he communicated with me throughout the process. My dog normally barks at people and his calm presence was a nice fit to keep Kuta calm.”

“Angela was amazing! She offered to do a meet and greet before sitting, which was perfect for my dog who is a little wary of new people. I also got plenty of updates and pictures. And I was able to enjoy my time away worry free because she was in such good hands.”

“Keiki and her son Sunny were fabulous. They came over before hand to meet us and our pup, Cinnamon. This helped us and Cinnamon feel at ease. Sunny had a great way with Cinnamon. During our trip, Sunny checked in with us via text and sent us pics of Cinnamon. We so appreciated the care he gave and attention he gave to Cinnamon.”

About: I have experience taking care of dogs for over 10+ years. I have had pets my whole life and I have taken care of family members pets before due to them leaving for emergency or vacation. Walking and playing with the dogs is my favorite part. I have pets of my own that I tend to. 3 cats and one small chihuahua. She is only a year old and I love them so much. They are very playful and love to cuddle. The way I would care for pets in a client's home is the way I would care for my own pets with given instructions on medication, routine, special dietary restrictions and of course. A list of required tasks to complete with the dog/cat while taking care of them.

“Hi Kristi, thank you so much. You were incredible this past week with our two lovebugs, they are small but they have their own mighty quirks that can be a bit to care for, and they were happy walked and loved on when we returned. I was so grateful at how reliable you were, since it was my first time asking for house/pet sitting, and humbled by the way you went above and beyond caring not just for the pups but for the house. Really so lucky to have found you and I look forward to next time. Thanks for making a much needed trip away possible.”

“We had such a great experience with Vivian! My puppy loved her and she took great care of him and left the house in wonderful shape while we were gone. She sent regular updates and we knew our puppy was in great hands! Highly recommend Vivian.”

Travis and Prativa watched my golden retriever for over two weeks, while I worked outside California. My dog enjoyed being with them. They were both friendly, dependable and very competent. If they stay in Northern California, I would be happy to have them dog sit/house sit for me again.

William took excellent care of our dog and our home while we were away. Right before our vacation, when our dog picked up kennel cough at day care and as a result couldn't go there for boarding while we were away, we were panicked about whether we'd need to cancel our trip. William graciously agreed to help us out at the last minute, and it ended up being a better arrangement for our dog than our original plan. We highly recommend his services!

Ana is my go-to cat sitter. I am always at ease when she is able to care for my two lady cats. She is very attentive to their preferences and very communicative. Ana always goes out of her way to ensure Ginny and Ella are safe and comfy while I am away. Highly recommend.

Dane took amazing care of our dog while we were out of town! I always feel more relaxed knowing he is being cared for by Dane. Highly recommend!! Our dog loves him and gets so excited for walks and his stays. Great updates and zero issues with any part of the booking or process.

LIsa stayed at our house with our dog for a week. Our dog can have a lot of separation anxiety and Lisa was excellent with her. She took her on lots of walks and played lots of fetch. She took excellent care of the house as well. Above all, Lisa’s communication was excellent. We received daily updates and photos which was very reassuring. I highly recommend Lisa for your pet care.

Donovan was amazing at taking care of our sweet girl. She is a reactive dog but Donovan was able to take her on walks no problem and play with her. He sent lots of photos and gave us reassurance that she was having a great time. My boyfriend’s flight also got delayed and he was able to take her for an extra walk. We will be rebooking in the future!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Kensington walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Kensington maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Kensington choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Kensington. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
