“Joslyn was absolutely wonderful! She house sat for us and took exceptional care of our dog and cat while we were away for 6 days. Our dog has severe allergies and even had a skin flare-up in the middle of the night, and Joslyn handled it so calmly and responsibly, communicating with us the entire time and making sure she was comfortable and cared for. She was very communicative throughout our trip, sent regular updates and videos, and kept the house tidy and well cared for. Both our dog and cat were clearly happy and comfortable with her; one of the videos she sent as she was leaving even showed them looking sad to see her go, which says everything. We felt completely at ease knowing our pets and home were in such good hands and would absolutely book her again.”

“Yue Yue was awesome! Super responsive, flexible, and open to our instructions about how to care for our anxious pup. Her updates throughout the day helped us feel comfortable to enjoy ourselves while we were away. Will definitely book with her again! Thank you!”

“Aijalon has taken care of our 5 month old puppy a couple times and I always feel at ease with her taking care of him! She sends updates throughout the day and has a very calm demeanor which is great with our very active puppy. Will be booking with her again!”

“This was our second booking with Tasherit and she was fantastic. She took excellent care of our senior dog, Ellie, and kept us updated with thoughtful, detailed messages and photos throughout her stay. She left our home extremely clean and was a great communicator from start to finish. During our trip, Ellie unexpectedly became sick, and Tasherit handled everything with incredible care and professionalism. She acted quickly, took Ellie to the vet, administered her medications, and kept us informed every step of the way. Being away while your dog is sick is stressful, but Tasherit gave us tremendous peace of mind. We came home to a happy, well-cared-for dog and would absolutely book her again.”

“Femke was the best! She clicked with Fernet immediately and from the photos she sent, he spent most of our trip on her lap :). Femke was incredibly communicative and made sure we had daily updates with photos and videos of thier adventures. Would definitely book again!”

“Nicole did a great job at house/pet sitting. She was responsive, respectful, and made the whole process super smooth. Came home to a clean house and a happy pup. Thanks Nicole!”

“Celine was so communicative and responsive the entire time we were gone. We loved getting regular pictures of our pup and really felt she was in great hands. Highly recommend Celine!”

“Caroline takes wonderful care of Nala, and of the apartment as well! Nala has a lot of anxiety but is very at ease with Caroline and Caroline helps her stay calm throughout the day.”

“Lilit responded to my last minute request for someone to house sit with my doggie and boy am I glad she did! She met with me the day after I first messaged her and she jived very well with my doggie right off the bat. Throughout my trip she kept me updated with daily pictures as well as a schedule breakdown of what care she was providing. I copied and pasted one of these breakdowns below. But one of the best parts what that when I got back to my clean and wonderful home I was met with both a happy puppy and a beautiful drawing of my happy puppy courtesy of Lilit. What we've for today so far : July 3 • 9:00 - 9:10 ( playing catch ) • 9:15 - 9:35 ( walk around the area ) • 10:00 - 11:30 ( playing with his toys ) • 1:00 - 1:30 ( walking around the area ) • 2:15 - 2:30 ( playing catch ) • 3:00 - 3:20 ( playing with his toys ) • 4:00 - 4:30 ( walking around the area ) • 5:10 - 5:30 ( playing wity his toys ) • 6:00 - 6:15 ( playing catch ) • 6:40 - 7:00 ( playing with toys ) Soon we'll go for a walk around 30 min”

“Satine was great. She was highly communicative, responsive and took the dog all over town! I have rarely seen Zorro happier in his photos. Satine left my home sparkling clean and Zorro was relaxed when I found him. I look forward to working with her again”

“Adriana was able to accommodate our needs last minute and took amazing care of our two high-energy pups. She is very communicative and updated me so often; she made me feel worry-free for the whole weekend we were away from our pups. She also kept my place clean and neat. Highly recommend!”

“Trinity is awesome! She stayed at my house with my very old dog and is a really lovely person. I didn't have to worry about my dog and felt comfortable, and at ease while I was away. I really hope to have her help out again in the future!”

“Our shy kitty, Flora, loves Miss Anita, and she warmed right up to her in no time! We’ve already rebooked her to care for Flora again; we highly recommend her in-house sitting services!”

“Gisselle is a rock star! We love having her stay with our dogs when we leave town. Gisselle is so good with Finn and Nellie. This last time it was just Finn, and he adores her. Gisselle is wonderful with Finn and Nellie. The daily photos and check-in’s are just right. I feel completely at ease knowing our dogs are in Gisselle’s capable hands. I can’t say enough great things about her, she is simply the best! Gisselle is always our first call when we need to be out of town. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️’s actually it more like 10!”

About: Work from home Housesitter with more than 60 additional reviews available upon request (from another platform). I've spent 13 years pet and housesitting, some of whom have been quite regular (multiple weeks per month). I've taken care of homes, deliveries and even been there to catch potential issues in the house (one which would have flooded the entire house had I not been there!). My philosophy is: always treat other's homes with even more respect than I do my own living space, so I always leave the place as clean and lovely as I received it...or better! I'm mature, responsible, reliable and resourceful, so you can trust that your furry little friends and home are in the best and most capable hands! :) I’m working part-time online from (your) home, so I get to spend lots of time playing, snuggling and taking care of with my furry buddies :) When we video chat, I’ll ask all kinds of questions to get to know your fur babies personalities, care, routine and home care. I use a color-coded block calendar system to make sure every detail, from regular routine to occasional requirement, is done on the day/at the time it needs to be…so nothing falls through the cracks. When walking/feeding/caring for my furry buddies, I use the same care, practices and commands that owners use so nothing gets lost or forgotten and your little guy/gal feels safe and comfortable carrying on their routine while you're away.

Adriana was able to accommodate our needs last minute and took amazing care of our two high-energy pups. She is very communicative and updated me so often; she made me feel worry-free for the whole weekend we were away from our pups. She also kept my place clean and neat. Highly recommend!

Angela stayed with Charlotte at our apartment and was super communicative with pictures of Charlotte, asking questions about portions, and making sure she was getting the answers she needed to take care of Char! Super respectful of our apartment space and it was lovely knowing she was around with our pup while we were out of town!

Anita was very conscientious, working with my scared rescue pup to try to get her to relax and let her get approach. She was able to coax her to go outside and play. I got tons of pictures and messages throughout the sit which I really appreciated. Anita really cares about her work as a pet sitter. She made great strides, knowing that my pup is scared of meeting new people. I would readily have Anita pet sit for me again.

Kevin and Alex watched our house and pets for two weeks. They were great communicating and caring for our large dog, cat, snake and fish. Alex kept his cool and captured our pet snake when he escaped (prior to us leaving without us knowing). Changed batteries in our door lock and were always available if anything came up. They walked our 115 pound dog and sent daily photo updates. Highly recommend Kevin and Alex!

I had Emily catsit my two cats last weekend and the experience was wonderful. I was nervous about leaving my young kitten especially, but Emily made sure to send me many videos, pictures and updates, which were all very reassuring. Thank you Emily for taking such good care of my kitties - would not hesitate to book again!

Jenn is great with our dogs! We have two Frenchies that are quirky and just need special attention. She is flexible and always super attentive to them. She always gives us timely updates and photos which makes me feel comfortable when we are out of town. I plan to book her again!

I had a wonderful experience! She took amazing care of my two dogs and my cat, kept me updated throughout my trip, and treated them like her own. I came home to happy, relaxed pets and couldn't have asked for better care. Reliable, communicative, and compassionate—I highly recommend her and will definitely book with her again!

Amina took care of my senior cat Taylor for a long weekend and I definitely recommend her to look after your pets. She was kind enough to meet before the stay and Taylor was comfortable with her presence and was out and about the whole weekend. Amina took daily photos and kept my apartment clean for my arrival. Book her if you need someone to look after your apartment and beloved pets!

Etna was wonderful with our 3 month old puppy Egg - as soon as she met Egg she knew exactly how to react and respond to Egg’s excitement. We learned a lot from her, but also came home to a relaxed, happy puppy. Couldn’t recommend her more, especially if you have a puppy!

Lauren is absolutely the best cat/house sitter we have ever had. She is super responsible and very professional. Our cat adores her and we come home to a very happy cat. She also keeps our house so clean and organized. We can travel knowing that all will be well with Lauren - that is priceless.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 8,036 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across San Francisco. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred San Francisco walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in San Francisco maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in San Francisco choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in San Francisco. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
