About: I've grown up around dogs all my life and have been petsitting since I was 18 years old. I am familiar and comfortable with the routine that comes with caring, exercising, and loving all different types of dogs. I currently have a small network of clients who have trusted me with their pets for 7+ years. I am typically an early riser and love morning walks to start the day. There is also a park a few blocks away that I regularly run to myself. Whether I care for pets in my home or their own, I try my best to adhere to their routine and comforts. My favorite thing to do is go on nice walks with the dogs I care for and make sure they have enough safe playtime. I work on a hybrid schedule, but am fortunate enough to have plenty of flexibility. I am mainly available on weekends, as I will be home all day and can give proper attention and care to the pets I care for. When caring for pets, I try my best to adhere to their specified routines and boundaries. I live in a clean, cozy duplex and am able to take pets out for bathroom breaks conveniently.

About: Hi, my name is Emily! I have 3 years experience caring for dogs of different sizes, ages, and needs. I own quite a quirky dog myself, so I am patient and understanding when dogs are moody or anxious, and I always take care to learn each dogâs unique personality. I am able to calmly avoid potential altercations and also reassure dogs who are nervous on walks. It is important to me to build a trusting relationship with every animal I work with, even if we are only meeting for 30 minutes. My goal is to help your dog feel safe and at home, get them some exercise, give them plenty of love and attention, and create the best time possible while they are missing you. As a remote worker, I have plenty of time to spend with your pet, whether thatâs walking, playing, or puppy sitting, and along with having an instinct for what animals need, I will always be sure to follow your instructions for feeding, play, simple training, and bathroom schedules as well! While in your home, I will be sure to respect your privacy and standards of cleanliness, and I am comfortable discussing responsibilities of sweeping/vacuuming hair, taking out trash, and cleaning up animal-related messes, particularly during the damper seasons.
âCocoa seemed very happy and in good spirits after Leslie stayed with her, so I would definitely hire her again. She gave frequent updates and kept the house very neat too.â

âBrianna watched our two dogs Riley and Charlie for 7 days while we were out if town. She was an excellent communicator. As one of our dogs Riley started experiencing stomach bowel issues. She was awesome at handling the situation and made us feel reassured. She sent us pictures, videos and updates frequently. We would definitely recommend Brianne and we plan to book with her for future travels.â

âSophia and her husband were absolutely wonderful, and I couldnât have asked for better sitters for Fraser. From the very beginning, communication was clear, responsive, and thoughtful. They took the initiative to ask questions and confirm details I hadnât thought to mention, which gave me a lot of confidence that Fraser was in great hands. Throughout my trip, Sophia sent regular photo and video updates, along with detailed notes about how Fraser was doing. It really gave me peace of mind knowing exactly how he was eating, behaving, and settling in while I was away. I came home finding my house cleaned and arranged the same way as it was. What impressed me most was how calm, professional, and observant they were when an unexpected situation came up at the house. She kept me informed with clear, factual updates and helped me understand what was happening without adding unnecessary stress. I truly appreciated her and herâs professionalism and support during a situation that could have been much more difficult. Most importantly, Fraser was well cared for, and clearly comfortable with them. I would absolutely trust Sophia and her husband with Fraser again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable, communicative, and genuinely caring pet sitters.â

âAnna was great caring for my Benny. He takes time trusting people, but somehow Anna managed to get him to trust her. We received photos daily and he seemed so very happy.â

âWe are so happy we found Yvonne, what a great fur baby sitter! Sent tons of photos, very responsive when I reached out, and did not hesitate to askquestions if she felt unsure about something. We will for sure be booking her again if sheâs available.â

About: I've always had dogs in my life. I can provide you and your pet with efficient service. Feeding, walking, checking in, bathing, and anything else you might mention. Letâs work together to make your dog enjoy their time while youâre away. Iâm reliable, attentive, and flexible with my schedule, and Iâd be happy to discuss the details! Your dog will be attended to with care. Iâd be happy to help care for your dog and would prioritize their safety, comfort, and routine while keeping you updated throughout the stay.
âWe had such a great experience with Sarah! She stayed at our home for four nights with our senior pup, Kuma, and I truly couldnât have asked for better care. Kuma requires medication and specific feeding instructions, and she handled everything thoughtfully and responsibly. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing our older girl was in capable hands. She sent regular updates, communicated clearly throughout the stay, and took wonderful care of both Kuma and our home. You can tell sheâs attentive and genuinely cares about the animals she watches. I would absolutely have her back in a heartbeat and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, compassionate sitter.â

He sent tons of pictures throughout the day, got Roan out on several walks and clearly cares a ton about the happiness and comfort of the pups he is caring for. Can't wait to have Perry back again soon and would recommend him to anyone in need of care for their pups! He is terrific!â

âCaroline had amazing communication!! I had a whole google doc of instructions đ and she was so good at consistently keeping our babies on their schedule and routines, even with all their quirks! Vanessa did a great job. She sent us photos of our dog chasing the ball in the backyard. Also, photos of him sitting next to her as well as other pictures. Her photos and comments about Mickeys eating and times she walked him made my wife and I asurred that he was in good hands. Communication between Vanessa, my wife and I was excellent. Glad she was able to watch our Mickey.
Weâre really lucky to have Esther come over to take care of our two dogs. Sheâs caring, responsible, and has great experience with dogs. She sent pictures/videos of our dogs daily. She also voluntarily cared for our chickens and consistently kept our place clean and tidy. I highly recommend Esther for House Sitting!
Katrina did an amazing job with our pets!!! She took care of them like they were her own and provided plenty of information/pictures. She went above and beyond to help us out and make sure we came home to a clean home after a quick trip. Will definitely book again!!!

Catherine was an amazing sitter for my dog, Finn!! He felt very comfortable with her and she was so so welcoming to him! She sent updates of Finn and made sure he ate and went potty! She also took him on walks and took him on an adventure! We will be asking her to watch him in the future!

Sarah has a way with dogs and people! She is extremely kind, patient, and curious. She sent regular updates with photos and videos, so we were always in the loop on how our dog was doing. Sarah went the extra mile to make sure our dog was happy. Outside of his regular walks, she took him to the park and put treats in his toy so he was entertained. You can tell she has a genuine love for dogs! Would happily recommend her and work with her again!

Linda was awesome! Super communicative, timely, and kind to my overly nervous dog. She took the time to come out for a meet and greet before the sitting period so my dog could get accustomed to her, which was extremely appreciated. She sent lots of pictures even though I was only away for two nights which I loved!! She also left my house extremely clean and left my dog happy. Will definitely book again in the future if I ever need to go away again!

Lisa has taken care of our little senior pup, Queenie, several times and we always trust her to do a great job. She asks questions upon arrival and sends updates and cute photos! We trust Lisa and find her wonderful to work with. I would absolutely recommend her!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitterâs presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred South San Francisco walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your homeâs security or appliances.
Itâs helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in South San Francisco maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate theyâll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your petâs profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in South San Francisco choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Roverâs commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justiceâs National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
