“Caroline had amazing communication!! I had a whole google doc of instructions 😂 and she was so good at consistently keeping our babies on their schedule and routines, even with all their quirks! I loved all the regular updates; we had some scheduling issues in the middle but she was incredibly transparent and very detailed in communicating so o was able to make l alternative arrangements! Our shy cats + xl dog took to her immediately 😊”
About: I've had dogs my whole life — that's 29 years of hands-on experience caring for them at every stage. Growing up around both working and non-working dogs gave me a well-rounded understanding of different breeds, temperaments, and needs. I currently have a dog of my own, so your pup will always be in the care of someone who genuinely lives and breathes this. As an added bonus, my sister is a veterinarian — so I bring not just personal experience, but a household full of professional-level knowledge when it comes to your pet's health and wellbeing. I work from home on weekdays, which means your pet is never far from someone who cares. I'm available for drop-in visits throughout the day as long as I can bring my laptop, and I'm free for walks Monday through Friday from 2:30–7pm. Weekends are more flexible, and I'm happy to house sit with advance notice. Having a work-from-home setup is honestly a perk for the pets I care for - there's always a calm, present person nearby. I'm no stranger to multi-dog households as I live with my own dog alongside my family's two dogs, so I'm comfortable managing the dynamics that come with multiple pets under one roof. I have hands-on experience with crate training and potty training, and I've cared for dogs in all kinds of setups: yards, apartments, you name it. For house sitting and drop-in visits, I actually prefer caring for dogs in their own environment as familiar surroundings mean less stress for your pet, and I'm there to keep their routine as normal as possible. It's the setup where I do my best work.

“Vanessa was very gentle and kind with my dogs and they trusted her right away! She sent so many pictures while we were away and puppies looked relaxed and happy to be around her😍 I will definitely rebook ☺️!”

“Thank you Jenna for your tender loving care of Alex while I was away. I know it wasn't easy, as he also started a new medication (that you picked up for me!!) along with his other meds. Just getting him to take his meds is quite a task. I will certainly contact you again the next time we are out of town. Thank you, thank you!!”

“Caroline is incredible. She went above and beyond to take care of our cat and apartment. She is so dedicated and communicates very well. Our cat immediately loved her. I would give her 6 stars if I could.”

“Michelle was able to help take care of our dog due to an unexpected scheduling issue. She was highly responsive. It is clear that my dog trusts her a lot. She is gentle with him and took great care of the apartment. Thank you!!!”

“Elena took such wonderful care of our pups while we were away. They were so happy, relaxed, and clearly well loved when we got home. She was communicative, reliable, and gave us so much peace of mind during our trip. We’re very grateful for her care and would absolutely book with her again. Highly recommend!”

“Alexandria took amazing care of our dog and house for the week! She was very responsive and gave us a lot of confidence that our dog was being taken care of really well while we were gone. Our dog loved her and we couldn’t recommend her more!”

“We cannot thank Katrina enough for taking such good care of our two dogs. We hired Katrina for pet/house sitting. As any pet parent knows, it is stressful to leave your fur babies behind while on vacation but Katrina eased that stress by sending daily updates, complete with photos to let us know how our dogs were doing. She took them on long walks and sent photos while on the walks. (The dogs looked very happy.) She also took good care of the house. We will definitely reach out to her again and highly recommend her.”

“Angelica was efficient, friendly and very loving to our two Brittneys. One is young with lots of energy and one is old and is more sedentary and she balanced their needs perfectly. I loved that she sent many pictures. It made our time away from our home care free! Happy to act as a reference for her! Jan”

“Hali was great! She stayed in touch wind us the whole time we were away and we felt really comfortable with her taking care of our sweet, Bentley and our home. We’ll definitely book her again! Thank you, Hali!”

About: Having grown up with a dog, what sets me apart is my focus on high-needs care and consistency. Your pet can be my 'co-worker' for the day, receiving constant attention and structured play. I'm comfortable with medication schedules and slow-paced mobility walks. You can expect frequent photo updates and a calm, pet-first environment As a remote professional, I offer the 'work-from-home' advantage: your pet will have a constant companion throughout the day which is ideal for most dogs. Your pet will always be treated like family! We start with a slow introduction, ensuring they feel safe and confident. I provide a structured day with frequent potty breaks, interactive play, and plenty of lap time. When sitting in your home, my priority is maintaining your pet's 'normal.' I follow your feeding and exercise schedules to the minute to minimize anxiety. I also take great care of your space, possibly watering plants, and ensuring your home is secure and tidy so you can return to a happy pet and a peaceful house.
“Caroline did an incredible job of taking care of my little Chihuahua and my home. When I got home my dog was happy and my home was clean. She is very conscientious. I would hire Caroline in the future for dog sitting.”

“This was Keith’s first time with our dogs and home. He asked a lot of good questions before and during our time away. He sent us pictures and updates daily and left our house in good condition. Much appreciated, Keith!”
“Jaron was a wonderful sitter for our senior dog! He was also incredibly responsive and made every effort to help us out last minute when another sitter fell through. He took great care of our house and sent us lots of photo and video updates of our dog which gave us piece of mind. Looking forward to having him sit for us again in the future!”

About: I've grown up always caring for pets while my friends were on vacation. I also used to have an English bulldog named Elvis who I loved SOOOO much! I love ALL dogs no matter the shape or size, and would love to walk your dog/give him or her all the cuddles. I've been dog sitting and walking on Rover for almost two months, and taken care of 8 dogs and 2 cats- and loved them all very much! I have experience with dogs of all shapes, sizes and ages- from puppies to senior citizens. I also have experience giving eye drops, as well as oral and topical medication. I can also teach a trick or two while you're away. :) I have a day job in SF which is a 9-5, and I usually like to go into the office. However, I am not required to go, so during pet sitting gigs I can work from your home if you prefer. During the weekends I am free to spend as much time as possible with your pet. Overall, my schedule is very flexible. :) I will make sure I understand thoroughly what your dog needs- how often to walk, feed, etc so I can keep your dog's routine as close to normal as possible while you're away. I will take thorough notes on whatever else they may need! :)) And I will make sure to ask about what they like so I can spoil them while you're away(within your limits) by feeding them special treats and giving them some extra scratches if they have a personality where they like/need that <3
About: My family and I have a love for animals. We have gone through many different species of pets including dogs, cats, hamsters, bunnies, and birds. Apart from my family, I’ve helped house-sit and cared for my friend’s dog for a few years now whenever she’s away. During that time, I’ve handled daily walks, feeding, and making sure the dog feels safe and comfortable at home. I currently work part-time, which gives me a flexible schedule and extra availability to care for and walk dogs. I’m able to provide consistent attention and accommodate different walking times throughout the week. I like to follow their normal routine to keep them comfortable. I make sure they are fed on time, get regular walks, have fresh water, and receive plenty of attention and playtime.
About: I've taken care of puppies and dogs, cats and guinea pigs. I've administered meds to those who've needed them, I am reliable and understand they are not just pets but a part of your family. I enjoy taking care of animals, interacting, playing, cuddling with all sorts of pets. Very responsible. I currently, due to my living restrictions, can't have pets so what better way to give the love that I have than to treat your babies as my own! I am walking every day around the neighborhood, taking a pet would make it more enjoyable. They get fresh air as will I, we win! I can keep your fur babies company in their home environment while you are out of town. Making them as comfortable as I can so as to not stress them.
“Berra is an excellent dog and house sitter! She sent us photos and updates everyday. She was very communicative overall and made sure our beloved pets were well taken care of (walks, trips to the dog park, play time in the yard, etc). She also went out of her way to keep the house clean, take care of plants that she thought needed extra water, and even froze strawberries from our garden for us when we got home, which was above what I'd expect from a sitter. She was one of the best dog sitters we've had and we will definitely have her come again, and recommend her to others.”

This is my second time booking Alia and she did a very good job caring for my cat. I got daily updates with pictures that really out my mind at ease. I appreciate how diligent and consistent she is about this as I’ve had sitters in the past share less updates over the course of the visit or after the first time I booked them. Really looking forward to booking with Alia again!

Hope is well loved by my dogs. She is attentive and keep me informed of my dogs’s activities. Out senior dog needs daily eye drops and she administered the drops without troubles. Hope also kept our house clean and tidy. Highly recommend Hope to those who need an overnight sitter.

Always amazing having Sydney watch our dogs. She is so communicative and always gives updates on how they are doing (with so many wonderful photos!). As a bonus to getting along with our pets so well, we really feel the house is taken care of when she stays and leaves it spotless. Highly recommend Sydney.

Perry was wonderful again with our dog, Roan, today! He sent tons of pictures throughout the day, got Roan out on several walks and clearly cares a ton about the happiness and comfort of the pups he is caring for. Can't wait to have Perry back again soon and would recommend him to anyone in need of care for their pups! He is terrific!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hillsborough walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hillsborough maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hillsborough choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Hillsborough. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
