“Vanessa was very gentle and kind with my dogs and they trusted her right away! She sent so many pictures while we were away and puppies looked relaxed and happy to be around her😍 I will definitely rebook ☺️!”

About: Hello! My name is Rachel and I've been taking care of animals since I was young. I have experience from rabbits, an iguana, a love bird, and fish, to cats and dogs. I also have experience from kittens and puppies to full adults. I currently own an 8 month old Bernese Mountain Dog and I've been self-training him with positive reinforcement for personal service work since he was 8 weeks old. So training on the side is something a little extra that I can work with! I currently only do freelance art and don't have a full time job, so I'm able to pick up any available walking jobs throughout the day! The only caveat is that I still work my own dog throughout the day as well so he gets his own love, attention, and exercise. I update my calendar regularly! My darling Bernese boy is with me 24/7. Along with early world socialization, he is trained only with positive reinforcement and I will treat every other friend/family/neighbor/client's with the same love and care as he gets.
About: I’ve been around cats and dogs for 90% of my life. I was raised with them, loved them, and learned to care for them like family. Whether it’s playtime, mealtime, or just a chill nap buddy, I’m here to make your pet feel safe, happy, and loved while you’re away. I understand their needs, quirks, and routines because I’ve lived it every day growing up. Your pets are in good hands with me. Pet care fits perfectly into my routine. I work part-time as a photographer and filmmaker, which gives me a lot of flexibility. On weekdays, I’m free after 5 PM, and on weekends, I’m available all day unless I have a scheduled event for work, which I’ll always mark down in advance. This open schedule lets me give pets the time, attention, and consistency they need, whether it’s regular walks, drop-ins, or just keeping them company while you’re away. I take pet care seriously and love being able to fit it naturally into my lifestyle. In my home or a client’s, I make sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved. I follow their routines closely when it comes to meals, meds, walks, playtime, and quiet time too. I keep their space clean, give lots of attention, and always respect their personality and needs. Whether I’m hosting or visiting, I make the environment stress-free and familiar, with regular updates for peace of mind. Your pet’s comfort is my top priority, like they’re part of the family.
“Riley took care of my kids (2dogs and a kitty) like a pro; she communicated well and followed instructions for my pets routine and medications. All was well when I made it home. Definitely recommend her!”

“Ava was so great. She reached out just enough to let us know the pups were doing good, and sent us a video and some photos. The house was immaculate when she left--you could hardly tell she was here! Highly recommend her for any pet care you may need.”

About: My personal approach to dog care is grounded in genuine care for their well being. Working with my clients I provide prompt communication to ensure your dog is safe, happy, and healthy! Growing up my family had a beautiful 30lb dog that I helped care for from a puppy to old age. Being a part of this process has shown me how to support dogs in each stage of life from rambunctious puppies (structure, training and enrichment) to easing the aging process (special diet, new steps to climb onto the couch, shorter walks etc). Depending on the activity needs of your pup, I’m happy to provide daily walks or short runs (1-3 miles). I'm currently taking a gap year so I have plenty of time for your pups! I'm available weekdays and, with advance planning, can provide housesitting through weekends as well. I live in a single family home with three dogs. However, our family dogs like their space, and it is not available for dog boarding.
“Nina is AMAZING! From getting Noob treats and toys, to sending us constant updates she is one of the best sitters we’ve booked. She went above and beyond to keep us reassured as pet parents and to keep our fur baby happy. Go ahead and book her you won’t regret it, I hope we get to work with her again too!!”
“We are so grateful that Bryan was available pretty last minute to watch our 2 dogs and Guinea pig. He was super friendly from the moment we met him and we could tell that our dogs liked him immediately too (and we all know dogs are great judges of character). He made sure to follow the instructions we gave him via a Google Doc and sent PLENTY of update pictures. Bryan kept Cherry and Waffle super busy going on lots of walks and trips to the dog park so I don’t think they even missed us while we were gone! We will definitely try booking with him again in the future!”
“Bryanna was great! Ready to jump in and help in anyway possible. Took a last minute booking that REALLY helped us. Bryanna was more than happy to go over details with us before the sitting. All the questions Bryanna asked us about our dog and his needs made it apparent that our dog would be cared for while we were gone. We came back to a happy, tired, and well-cared for dog! Would absolutely book again 😊”

“We love Loretta! She's dog/house sat for us I think 3 times now (maybe more?). She's very conscientious about everything. She leaves the house literally exactly the same way it was when she arrived (which I really appreciate, as I'm really particular about my space and my stuff). She spends a lot of time with my dog. She makes sure to spend a lot of time throwing his ball/toys for him to fetch, which he loves. She's a really clear communicator. And she really cares about the pets! Highly recommend Loretta.”

“Michelle was absolutely fabulous! She was able to watch my two dogs on very short notice while I was in Oakland to visit family. My dogs loved her! She took great care of them, taking them on multiple walks throughout the day and providing attention when needed. She we be the first person I reach out to when I am in the Oakland area again. Thank you Michelle!”

“Victoria took great care of our dog, cat, and home on very short notice!!! She was very responsive, sent regular updates, and left our home in great shape!! We would absolutely rebook her in the future and recommend her to others!”

“Katrina did a wonderful job taking care of my 3 cats. She was very attentive to each of my cats’ needs and put great effort into playing, talking and feeding them. She gave updates with photos, videos, and messages and was always very responsive. We definitely recommend her and will book her again in the future.”

“Brooke took excellent care of my dog, Reese, at my home while I was away for a long weekend. She took her out for several long walks so she was happily tired out at the end of the day. Brooke followed the directions/ information about Reese that we had discussed. The house looked great- the same as when I had left. I highly recommend Brooke to take care of your dog!”

About: Having grown up with a dog, what sets me apart is my focus on high-needs care and consistency. Your pet can be my 'co-worker' for the day, receiving constant attention and structured play. I'm comfortable with medication schedules and slow-paced mobility walks. You can expect frequent photo updates and a calm, pet-first environment As a remote professional, I offer the 'work-from-home' advantage: your pet will have a constant companion throughout the day which is ideal for most dogs. Your pet will always be treated like family! We start with a slow introduction, ensuring they feel safe and confident. I provide a structured day with frequent potty breaks, interactive play, and plenty of lap time. When sitting in your home, my priority is maintaining your pet's 'normal.' I follow your feeding and exercise schedules to the minute to minimize anxiety. I also take great care of your space, possibly watering plants, and ensuring your home is secure and tidy so you can return to a happy pet and a peaceful house.
“Elena took such wonderful care of our pups while we were away. They were so happy, relaxed, and clearly well loved when we got home. She was communicative, reliable, and gave us so much peace of mind during our trip. We’re very grateful for her care and would absolutely book with her again. Highly recommend!”

About: I've loved dogs since I was a kid! My first dog was a Chow Chow when I was five years old, and I adored him until the day he passed. Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and caring for them comes with much joy to me. Friends and family often count on me to walk, feed, and spend time with their pets, and I genuinely love every second of it. I treat every pet with patience, affection, and the same care I’d want for my own. I am currently working part time as a Behavioral Aide for toddlers on the autism spectrum. Afternoon and evenings are open for me and I am avaliable for dog walking, house sitting, and drop-in visits during this slot. I will offer the best possible care for your pet during our walks and/or visits. I do not offer boarding in my home as my arrangements do not allow it but I am open to house sitting and providing your dog and feline friends what they need according to what you know is best for them!
“Darya was amazing! She sent me multiple daily updates with photos. The animals loved her right away which was very reassuring and she left my house very clean and even stripped the sheets! I will be using her again.”

Elena took such wonderful care of our pups while we were away. They were so happy, relaxed, and clearly well loved when we got home. She was communicative, reliable, and gave us so much peace of mind during our trip. We’re very grateful for her care and would absolutely book with her again. Highly recommend!

Always amazing having Sydney watch our dogs. She is so communicative and always gives updates on how they are doing (with so many wonderful photos!). As a bonus to getting along with our pets so well, we really feel the house is taken care of when she stays and leaves it spotless. Highly recommend Sydney.

Perry was wonderful again with our dog, Roan, today! He sent tons of pictures throughout the day, got Roan out on several walks and clearly cares a ton about the happiness and comfort of the pups he is caring for. Can't wait to have Perry back again soon and would recommend him to anyone in need of care for their pups! He is terrific!

We booked Jeffrey again for a 10-day stay with our three dogs, and he took fantastic care of them. This was our longest trip in a very long time, and after we left the weather turned cold. The cold aggravated our senior dog’s IVDD and old injuries, making her very grumpy and hard to handle. Jeffrey managed the situation with patience and great communication. He checked in, adjusted her medication safely, and was careful about not using the stronger dose unless needed. Our neighbor even mentioned seeing him out walking the dogs often and said, “Your dogs seemed to love him. He seems like a calm soul.” Only praises for Jeff!

Francis was a wonderful sitter and took great care of our pups and home! We were traveling in Asia and needed Francis to cover the second half of our trip since our other sitter had only partial availability. Francis was flexible to our travel plans, agreed to arrive early, and helped coordinate the transition with the other sitter. He sent frequent updates and photos, with fun and cute captions. Francis' communication was strong, from the time of booking until after wrapping up the sit. We also came home to a sparkling clean apartment! We would definitely recommend him as a sitter!

I am writing to express my profound gratitude for the exceptional pet-sitting service provided by Billy. Following a less-than-satisfactory prior experience, Billy's immediate and highly efficient response was truly invaluable, stepping in precisely when needed. From our initial contact, I was deeply impressed by his professionalism. He was not only exceptionally responsive and efficient but also highly informative and incredibly supportive throughout the entire process. This meticulous approach and clear communication immediately instilled a profound sense of ease regarding the care of my beloved dogs. It was evident that Billy went above and beyond his duties, demonstrating remarkable kindness and genuine affection towards my pets. His dedication ensured that they were not just looked after, but genuinely cared for, quickly forming a positive rapport with them. This allowed me to fully relax and thoroughly enjoy my vacation, secure in the knowledge that my dogs were receiving the best possible attention. Billy's commitment to excellence and his compassionate interaction with my dogs truly exceeded all expectations. I am incredibly grateful for his outstanding service.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of June 2026, there are 8,243 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Hillsborough. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hillsborough walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hillsborough maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hillsborough choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Hillsborough. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
