“André has gone above and beyond as a walker. Our pup has special needs, and he's very attentive to our pup's needs. We did an initial meet & walk together so that he could get comfortable with Kirby's requirements & so that we could point out what to look out for. During the walk, André was perfect with our pup. I feel total confidence handing Kirby off to him each day. We've engaged André for ongoing weekly support — we can't wait to keep working with him!”

About: I am taking a career sabbatical and would love to spend more of my time doing something that brings me real joy. I grew up with two dogs and I understand that every dog has their own personality, routine and comfort level. I take time to learn what makes each dog feel safe and happy, whether that means long walks, playtime, quiet company, plenty of cuddles or giving them space to settle in. My professional background has made me organised, responsible and clear in my communication. I will follow your care instructions closely, keep you updated and treat your dog with the same kindness and care I would want for my own. My career sabbatical gives me a flexible schedule and plenty of time to focus on pet care. I am available during weekdays and weekends for walks, drop-in visits and pet sitting, including longer visits where your dog would benefit from extra company. Because I am not balancing pet care around a full-time office job, I can give dogs my full attention and keep closely to their usual feeding, walking and rest routines. I will carefully follow all instructions relating to feeding, medication, walks, behaviour and access to the home. I will send regular photos and updates, respond promptly and make sure you always know how your dog is doing.
About: I have taken care of pets, and fostered all sorts of cats and dogs over the last 5 years. I have experince with all temprement types, and love all animals! I started and ran a TNR Program when I lived overseas, that rescued, rehomed and provided medical care to over 300 animals in 3 years. I am able to work with each pet parent to find time to take care of your animal while you are gone. I am able flexible to work around whatever schedule is neccessary. I am able to care for all animals in my home. My apartment building has a dog run, and is in an area around many parks, and my cats are friendly towards other animals!
About: I am a crazy dog mom. My dog is the light of my life and she is spoiled rotten. I'm the kind of person who will cuddle any dog I can. At a party you can find me hanging out with the dog in the back. I have had my pup for 5 years after getting her from the shelter and I pride myself on being the best dog mom I can. I also have experience fostering a special needs elder dog. If you're looking for someone that will treat your dog with the care and compassion you would I am your girl . My dog is my family and I know yours is probably as well. Please let me know if you have any questions ! I am currently unemployed but I was an accountant before. I want to do Rover because I love dogs and I already am going to the park frequently with my own dog. ( I would take yours separately) I love walking around the city and going to the park and I love dogs. I'm the person that has to say hi to every dog I see. Currently I want to start off by offering in-house sitting only or walks. My dog is very shy so I do not want to stress her with someone in her own. When I take my dog to the park I am like a hawk watching her. I'm hyper vigilant almost to a fault. I want my dog to have a fun time but I also will keep an eye out for any other dogs or issues.
“Angela is a wonderful dog walker and my dog Bonny immediately trusted her for new big city walks and exploration! I get daily check-ins on how my dog is doing throughout the visits which is so reassuring when I have to be in the office away from home. Knowing that Bonny is having the best day ever every day is all thanks to Angela's patient care!”

“Thank you Olesia for watching our boys! You were absolutely amazing!!! You kept is updated with photos and messages and followed all our instructions perfectly. I know our high energy puppy is a lot of work! Thank you again.”

About: I grew up with three golden retrievers, so I’m very used to zoomies, big personalities, and a little bit of chaos (in the best way). I loved every second of it. I’ve handled everything from long walks and endless games of fetch to feeding, baths, vet visits, and teaching basic commands. These days, I’m the go-to dog sitter for my friends whenever they travel. I treat every dog like my own—making sure they get lots of attention, playtime, and cuddles (if they’re into that). You can expect a happy pup and plenty of updates while you’re away! I work from home, so my schedule is pretty flexible during the weekdays. On weekends, I spend most of my time in the city, enjoying parks, walking around, and hanging out with friends. Am happy to fit any needs into my schedule! I tailor my approach based on the individual needs of each pet. Regular walks, playtime, and exercise are essential components of my care routine, ensuring the pets stay happy and active.
“We were so thankful to have Genna's help last minute when we needed it. She was super at communicating with us. Pups were so happy to have her hang out and walk with them. We feel so lucky to have found her. Highly recommend and will be reaching out for help again. Thanks Genna!”

About: Lauren here, an animal lover who chose to become vegetarian at age 3 (still going strong!). Thanks for checking out my profile. I've boarded many dogs at my Lower Haight home in the past, including shy and reactive dogs, and trained my own dog from puppyhood. I'm now focused on solo dog walking and drop-ins and would love to hang with your pup or take them for outings! Available for walks from 9am-3pm on days I'm available in my profile. My work schedule is flexible, and I genuinely love spending time getting to know new dogs. My favorite thing is asking variations of “Walk? Outside? Out?” till I hit the right keyword and your dog’s tail starts to wag. I'll take regular photos of our time together and share updates with you. Pet safety is essential. I stay alert on walks to ensure your pet is safe from other dogs and other concerns. I don't let dogs off leash who are new to my services.
“Hannah did a great job taking Alfredo on a two hour walk while I got to steal some time away for a much needed bike ride. I’ve been dealing with Alfredo’s separation anxiety as he is a recent rescue and Hannah was able to accommodate Alfredo’s needs as a recently rescued Boxer puppy, and make sure he had a fun time on their long walk. Definitely plan to get her together with Alfredo as much as possible.”

“So grateful for Katheryn. She did an incredible job with my dog Clementine. Took such good care of her and gave me a great report after. Will absolutely be booking her again!”

About: I'm a longtime dog lover with a soft spot for small breeds. I've been a dog owner (an adorable Maltese/Papillon), walker and overnighter for more than a decade. I'm super active and enjoy running or walking with dogs. From trips to Fort Mason to dog parks and Twin Peaks, I make sure your dog is happy, loved, cared for and always up to teach a new trick to pass the time until you are home. I am happy to stay in your home for trips where you'll be out of town, or just come for daily walks and food. I'm timely, centrally located and don't mind going to the dog park or taking a casual stroll in the neighborhood. I care for your dog like it's my own.
“So glad that I went with Charles on Rover when I encountered a situation that created a last minute need for a dog walker. He was very responsive, easy to schedule with and he took great care of my girl. Will definitely book again for future needs”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - San Francisco
Wow!! If you are looking for a responsible, responsive and considerate walker, Soomi is by far one of the best walkers I have had the pleasure of working with. She went above beyond her duties, made sure that I got plenty of very cute updates and is so considerate of how my dog is doing as well as being considerate of others while with her. I cannot recommend her enough!

Taylor is easy to work with. She was very kind and patient with our two small timid dogs. They can be shy and bark or hide with strangers. She took the time to build trust with them and get them to play and go on walks. They were happy and tired when I got home. I would definitely hire Taylor again.

We cannot say enough good things about Surekha. Finding someone you trust with your dog is tough, but she made it incredibly easy. She is so genuinely kind and patient, and she has been absolutely wonderful with our mini Aussie. She understands his personality perfectly and tailors her approach to exactly what our pup needs that day. Surekha is dependable, communicative, and just a joy to work with. Highly, highly recommend!

Yes, you can find walkers who have experience with handling special pet needs in San Francisco. On Rover:
- 90% of walkers can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
