“When I met Joslyn I instantly felt her warm and positive energy. She went above and beyond taking care of my cat Flora. It was not an easy job because Flora has experienced extreme trauma and she is an elderly cat. Where others would have given up, Joslyn was patient and not intimidated by Flora’s stressed demeanor. She took her time and slowly took the necessary steps to ensure she received the care she needed. I appreciated the videos and photos she took during each visit. She even brought in our mail and packages while we were away. I highly recommend her and plan on connecting with her in the future if I need cat sitting.”

“Maria did such an amazing job taking care of my cat while I was away. She was super communicative and gave great updates and pictures, and gave my cat lots of pets and love--when we came home our cat was happy and in a great mood thanks to Maria's amazing care. Thank you again Maria!”

About: I am taking a career sabbatical and would love to spend more of my time doing something that brings me real joy. I grew up with two dogs and I understand that every dog has their own personality, routine and comfort level. I take time to learn what makes each dog feel safe and happy, whether that means long walks, playtime, quiet company, plenty of cuddles or giving them space to settle in. My professional background has made me organised, responsible and clear in my communication. I will follow your care instructions closely, keep you updated and treat your dog with the same kindness and care I would want for my own. My career sabbatical gives me a flexible schedule and plenty of time to focus on pet care. I am available during weekdays and weekends for walks, drop-in visits and pet sitting, including longer visits where your dog would benefit from extra company. Because I am not balancing pet care around a full-time office job, I can give dogs my full attention and keep closely to their usual feeding, walking and rest routines. I will carefully follow all instructions relating to feeding, medication, walks, behaviour and access to the home. I will send regular photos and updates, respond promptly and make sure you always know how your dog is doing.

“Caitlin treated our kitties like her own during our 2-week vacay! She noticed our dry food feeder running out and helped us refill it when we totally missed it ourselves. She left detailed notes and lots of pics/videos each visit so we know the kitties are doing well and enjoying her company. Thank you Caitlin!!”

I’m active, dependable, and love spending time outdoors, making me a great fit for dogs who enjoy walks, exercise, and plenty of attention. I understand that every dog has their own personality, routine, and needs, and I take the time to make sure they feel comfortable, safe, and cared for while you’re away. I pride myself on being reliable, communicative, and attentive, and I’ll keep you updated with photos and messages so you can have peace of mind knowing your pet is in good hands. My goal is to make every visit a positive, fun, and stress-free experience for both you and your dog. I have a flexible schedule that allows me to provide dependable care and plenty of attention to every pet I work with. I’m an active person who spends a lot of time outdoors, and one of the things I love most about living in San Francisco is having access to so many amazing parks, trails, and green spaces for dogs to explore. I live just a short walk from Golden Gate Park and near several neighborhood parks, making it easy to give dogs the exercise, fresh air, and enrichment they need. Whether your dog enjoys long walks, playtime, or simply getting outside and exploring, I’ll make sure they have a fun, safe, and engaging experience. I believe great pet care starts with trust, communication, and respect. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I follow all instructions carefully, respect established routines, and treat every home with the same care and consideration I would expect in my own. I understand that every pet has unique needs, and I take the time to learn their habits, preferences, and boundaries so they feel comfortable and secure. When caring for dogs at my home, we spend plenty of time outdoors enjoying fresh air, exercise, and enrichment. I live in an apartment community with a dedicated dog area and am fortunate to be surrounded by parks and green spaces, including Golden Gate Park just a short walk away. Whether your dog enjoys exploring, socializing, or taking a relaxed stroll, I’ll make sure they stay active, safe, and happy while in my care. Throughout every visit, I’ll provide updates and photos so you can feel confident that your pet is receiving attentive and reliable care.
About: I am an SF native who grew up loving my Crocker Spaniel and Beagle dogs. Now in Hayes Valley, I love all the dogs in my building and neighborhood! I enjoy getting to know and bonding with a dog, whether loud/social, quiet or delicate, and being attentive to their needs. I live in best dog walking area, and have walked dogs for 4+ years. I don't consider this a job since I love doing it; one day I plan to adopt a pup of my own! Here in SF, I work remotely as a video editor. My studio and building are very open and dog-friendly, as are the nearby parks and spaces. I work mostly from home, where I live with my partner, Wei. Also, I only care for 1 dog at a time, but can look after 2 dogs if they both belong to you. I look forward to getting to know your best little friend, taking them on a walk and caring for them. I hold meet and greets at Patricia's Green Park. Thank you and stay safe!. Please reach out with any questions! I love having a dog around because it allows me to take desk breaks and go on longer walks. I typically do a short walk in the morning, longer walk in the afternoon, and 1-2 walks/bathroom breaks at night. Playtime in the studio is also a fun distraction, and sometimes dogs love to run up and down the 4th floor hallway. I focus on helping your dog adjust to the new space with a different human (me). Familiar items like toys, beds, treats, or even an item with your scent (shirt) helps dogs with this process. In general, dogs like to sniff everything in the apartment, start out the window, sit on the couch or underneath my desk, and lay in random spots on the wooden floor. For dogs that have trouble with stairs, my building has an elevator. There are a couple other (friendly) dogs in the building, though we rarely run into them. Along walks, I remain especially vigilant with dogs that like to pick up food or other items from the streets. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns about environment.
“Charles is a true professional! He did a superb job taking care of our cats and we appreciate his efforts. We will 100% call Charles the next time we travel. Thank you, Sir!”

About: As a calm and dependable caregiver, I’ve successfully helped two Chihuahuas and an Australian Blue Heeler peacefully coexist in one home. If I can manage that dynamic with patience, care, and consistency, your pet will be in great hands. I currently work from home while running my own cosmetics company, which gives me a highly flexible schedule and allows me to provide attentive, reliable, and consistent care for your pets throughout the day to late evenings. I believe pets thrive when they’re given both attention and healthy outlets for their energy. For dogs, I enjoy taking them on walks, park visits, and play sessions tailored to their comfort level and their owner’s preferences. If appropriate and approved, I’m comfortable supervising off leash time in safe fenced areas or open parks with well behaved pets. For cats, I make sure they receive patience, affection, and interactive play time so they stay stimulated, relaxed, and comfortable while their owner is away. My goal is always to help pets feel safe, cared for, and well rested by the time their family returns home.

About: I’ve taken care of both dogs and cats throughout my life. Recently, I started taking care of some of my friend’s pets and have gained valuable experience through them. I have taken care of cats of all sizes and energy levels, and have taken care of small-medium dogs. I’m currently working a full-time job from 7-4, but can swing before or after work, and during lunch time for an hour to take care of your pet! I am free weeknights after work, as well as on weekends. I can do drop-in care every 4 hours on weekdays, can stay overnight if needed, and/or can stay all day on the weekends. I do not have pets of my own, and live in a studio apartment so if your pet will be at my home, you will not need to worry about another pet being there. I have some plants that can be put away in a safe place if needed. If I will be staying at your home or doing drop-in care, I will make sure to treat it with respect and leave it how it was when I arrived.
“Sabrina was fantastic! Easy to work with and find a suitable schedule. I went on a two week vacation with late notice, and I really couldn't have done it without Sabrina. She was always on time and always sent pictures and video clips of the cats. My Sophie really liked her, and I couldn't be happier how it all turned out. Thank you so much, Sabrina!”

“Jack has watched my cat several times now and amazed me each time. I always come home to a happy kitty. Jack is a good person, kind and attentive, and follows care instructions. I’ll be back without hesitation!”

About: Hi, I'm Femke. A lifelong animal lover, I’ve been the go-to pet sitter and dog walker for friends, family, and neighbors for almost a decade. What started as a hobby quickly became something I couldn’t imagine not doing. Now, I’m excited to turn my passion for dogs into a full-time career, preparing for a degree in Cynology (dog behavior) next year. With hands-on experience caring for dogs of all ages, sizes, and temperaments, I’ve developed a calm, patient, and intuitive approach. I’ve walked high-energy pups who need structure and stimulation, cared for seniors who require slower walks and medication, and provided companionship to anxious or shy dogs who just need someone gentle and understanding. I’m confident in handling leash reactivity, administering basic medications, and keeping routines consistent to help dogs feel safe and secure. My focus is always on building trust, so your dog feels comfortable with me, and fully enjoys the time we spend together. I’m studying part-time to prepare for my Cynology (dog behavior) degree next year, and have no other major commitments - your dog gets my full attention. My days revolve around walks, drop-ins, and overnight stays, so I’m available on weekdays, weekends, and (most) holidays. Your pet’s safety is my top priority. I take the time to build trust with each dog, starting with a meet-and-greet to understand their routines, triggers, and preferences. During walks, I always use secure leashes and harnesses and stick to safe, familiar routes. I will not do off-leash unless in client-approved spaces and with your explicit consent. When caring for pets in your home, I maintain your routines, respect your space, and provide real-time updates with photos and notes, so you’re always in the loop. My goal is to give you peace of mind and give your dog(s) the care and companionship they deserve.

Lauren was an amazing sitter for my cat! He is a nervous cat who needs someone understanding to win him over and Lauren was that person. He warmed right up to her calm and gentle energy. Lauren was easy to communicate with and sent great photos and videos each day. Will definitely book her again :)

Sanaz did a wonderful job taking care of my kitty while I was away on vacation. She was extremely communicative, sent lot of pictures and updates and was even able to accommodate and extra visit when my flight was cancelled. Highly recommend her sitting services! Thank you Sanaz! 🌟

Hannah was great with my two days while I was out of town for 10 days! She was very responsive when I had questions and took the time to get to know my cats and their preferences, and did a good job maintaining their food area tidy as well. Would definitely book her again!!

Aaron was very professional and he took very good care of Smear for the last 4 days. I saw lots of pictures every day and that let me know I didn’t need to worry about Smear at all while I was traveling. Great and fast communication. I’ll definitely rebook with Aaron next time!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
