“Rachel did a great job with Leroy. She sent lots of photos and was super communicative while I was gone. She fed him, played with him, cleaned his litter, and took care of cleaning his nails with antiseptic wipes. He was happy and stimulated and I didn’t have to worry about him at all. He’s normally timid with new people but she was very gentle and caring. I will definitely ask her to watch him again!”
About: Former open-door animal shelter worker in kennels and behavior/medical advice in vet social work care. Cats, dogs, small animals and nail trims, positive reinforcement training I work from home and create my own schedule! Plenty of time during the evenings, in the day and early mornings. Mostly weekday availability too. In your home, I will respect your asks and simply be there for your pet. I have two cats of my own and understand it
About: I’ve been a dependable dog walker and sitter for friends and neighbors over the past two years, caring for a variety of breeds, sizes, and temperaments. I’m known for being patient, calm, and attentive—especially during walks and potty breaks, where I make sure pets feel comfortable and cared for. 🌱 My love for animals runs deep—growing up, I had a family dog for 12 years. As they aged, I took on much of their senior care, so I understand the tenderness, patience, and consistency needed for older pets. I’ve also supported other families with senior dogs, always adapting to their physical needs and providing gentle companionship. 🫶🏽 What sets me apart is my reliability, soft presence, and genuine connection with animals. Whether your pup is full of energy or slowing down with age, I meet them where they are. Your pet will be treated like family with me—because that’s what they deserve. 💕 I’m currently not working, so I have plenty of time, flexibility, and energy to dedicate to dog walking and pet care throughout the week. Pets come first! 🫶🏽 When caring for pets in a client’s home, I focus on keeping their space safe, familiar, and stress-free. I follow routines exactly as instructed and respect your home as if it were my own. I’m comfortable with crate use and can easily crate your dog if needed. I take time to build trust with each pet, paying close attention to their comfort, boundaries, and energy. Safety, consistency, and clear communication are always my top priorities. 🌱

“Katrina is amazing! It was clear from the intro how much she cared for dogs, and in the videos that she sent us of her time with our dog you could see how happy he was around her. We would recommend her to anyone, and will definitely utilize her services again!”

“Ember was super punctual and followed our instructions to a T! She was easy to communicate with through the entire process, and we came home to a happy cat and a clean house. Thank you, Ember!”
“Brittany was so great with my two boy cats! She was great at communicating and kept me in the loop. Her photos clearly showed how much the boys loved having her over! I will definitely book with her again.”

About: I've been volunteering at the senior dog shelter, Muttville, for almost two years now, taking care of dogs of all sizes (from tiny chihuahuas under 5lbs to larger bully breeds!). Every week, I help out in feeding often 30-40 dogs dinner, taking them out on walks, and cleaning up after them as needed. Aside from dogs, I'm also a huge fan of cats and have pet sit a handful of times for friends and coworkers, which has given me experience in caring for both outgoing, cuddly cats and more reserved, independent ones. I'm currently happily unemployed while waiting for my PhD program to begin in the Fall! Looking for a furry friend to spend all this free time with, whether it means joining me on my long walks and occasional runs or just lounging around with a dangling cat toy. From working at Muttville, I have plenty of experience getting in and out of rooms while ensuring the dogs stay only in the spaces they are allowed for their safety. I will do the same during drop-in visits and adhere to any similar rules in the house that are provided
About: I’ve taken care of both dogs and cats throughout my life. Recently, I started taking care of some of my friend’s pets and have gained valuable experience through them. I have taken care of cats of all sizes and energy levels, and have taken care of small-medium dogs. I’m currently working a full-time job from 7-4, but can swing before or after work, and during lunch time for an hour to take care of your pet! I am free weeknights after work, as well as on weekends. I can do drop-in care every 4 hours on weekdays, can stay overnight if needed, and/or can stay all day on the weekends. I do not have pets of my own, and live in a studio apartment so if your pet will be at my home, you will not need to worry about another pet being there. I have some plants that can be put away in a safe place if needed. If I will be staying at your home or doing drop-in care, I will make sure to treat it with respect and leave it how it was when I arrived.
“Hannah did a great job taking care of our cat! Easy to coordinate with and attentive to his feeding/play rituals. He was in great spirits when we came home. Would recommend!”

About: I’ve been a lifelong cat lover and spent 4+ years living with and helping care for my aunt’s cat. I’ve also cat-sat for a friend, and I’m the type of person who always stops to say hi to a cat on the street. I’m happy to follow your cat’s routine, share updates, and give them the love and attention they deserve while you’re away. Whether they’re cuddly or mysterious, I’ll make sure they feel safe and seen. I work in tech and live in SF — but honestly, cats are the highlight of my day. Pet care fits well into my routine! I’m available in the evenings and on weekends, and I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals so it’s the joy of my day. When I’m caring for pets, I stick to their usual routine — meals, water, litter box, and some play or cuddles if the cat’s into it. I like to keep things calm and familiar for them, and I’ll always send updates so you know they’re doing great.
“Vivienne was so amazing with my cat and I’m happy she was free over the holidays. Her report cards were great, she took amazing pictures for me, and my apartment was in great shape when I came back! I was unfortunately gone during a major power outage that left Vivienne unable to enter my building. However, she was super communicative during the whole 7 hour outage and even went over late at night as soon as the power was restored to check on my cat and keep him company. 100% recommend, I had such peace of mind while I was gone knowing my cat was in good hands. Thank you Vivienne!”

“Kaki was fantastic. She was thorough, warm, and sent really detailed updates every visit, which made a huge difference - I felt completely secure leaving my cats with her. One of my cats is on multiple medications and not exactly cooperative about it, and Kaki handled that with no issues. My other cat, who sometimes takes a bit to warm up, took to her right away and got plenty of playtime in. Would absolutely book her again and recommend her without hesitation.”

“Joslyn was amazing with my cats. She was very professional and ensured to take care of my house and also ensuring the cats had everything they needed. My fearful cat only took one day to settle in and come out for pets from Joslyn. Will definitely work with her again when next I need a sitter.”

“Highly recommend Molly to care for your pets! She’s super friendly, attentive to my puppy’s needs, quick with communication, and always available to help out. My puppy Stella absolutely adores Molly, and I know Stella is in good hands with Molly. Will be rebooking with Molly constantly!”

“Mike did a fantastic job carrying for my cat! Really appreciate him coming through when my last sitter canceled on me last minute. Was really attentive and carrying and my cat loved him. Would definitely rebook in the future!”

“Sabrina was fantastic! Easy to work with and find a suitable schedule. I went on a two week vacation with late notice, and I really couldn't have done it without Sabrina. She was always on time and always sent pictures and video clips of the cats. My Sophie really liked her, and I couldn't be happier how it all turned out. Thank you so much, Sabrina!”

“Taylor was available on short notice and was super accommodating. Our dog took to her immediately! She took very good care of Zoey and communicated well with us. Would absolutely have her watch Zoey again.”

Miranda was great! My cat Simon just got out of the emergency vet before we had to leave for a trip. Miranda was great at accommodating my lack of service and making sure I knew exactly what was going on with Simon. Simon puked a lot and Miranda cleaned everything up so when I came home I could barely tell Simon got sick. I really appreciated her help!

Kylie was wonderful and really cared for our pet. She provided us with detailed updates and pictures every day. I can tell she genuinely loves animals! I would definitely recommend booking Kylie, and I look forward to her looking after our cat again in the future.

Caroline was a perfect sitter for my cat Oshi! I felt at ease knowing she was checking in on him each day and she was super responsive and helpful when I had a situation with my apartment locks changing. I would recommend her anyone and will absolutely book her again! Thanks for everything Caroline!

After a few trial runs with a few various sitters, Helen has become my #1 go-to for watching my two boy cats. She’s quick to respond, so easy to work with and I feel completely at ease knowing that my cats are well cared for while I am away. Her reports are thorough and help me feel like I’m not missing a beat while away. Would absolutely recommend her!

Great communication and care to details. He thankfully was able to come as an additional sitter a last minute thing while I was in the middle of my 20 day journey. He was comfortable with entering my apartment using my lockbox key and saved the vacation and my cat's mental health.

Very good communication and really cares about the cat. I was away for 20 days. When she noticed my cat is stressed, she offered to board him for free as an emergency measure because she was concerned (do not expect that from her for free, an advance notice is required)

We really appreciated the care and attention she gave our cats while we were away. She spent lots of time with them, including working from our downstairs office so they could have extra company and affection, which made us feel much better about leaving them. She was also wonderfully accommodating with our complicated feeding routine, supplements and liquid medication for one of our cats, who is unfortunately very good at hiding when she doesn’t want to cooperate! It was clear that she genuinely cared about our cats and wanted them to feel comfortable and loved. We’re very grateful for her help and would happily have her care for them again.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in San Francisco. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
