“Margaret was absolutely wonderful with our new puppy and both of our dogs. When our vet called to say our puppy needed medication, she handled everything with care and made sure he was well taken care of. She is dependable, attentive, and clearly treats our dogs with care. We trust her completely and feel so lucky to have someone we can rely on. We highly recommend her!”

“Jodi was SO sweet w our dog! Lots of walks and play time. Always very timely and communicative. And she is very very clean! Jodi goes above and beyond to keep our home clean and tidy.”

“We cannot recommend Yan highly enough. She takes her job seriously. She was very communicative with us while we were away via texts and pics. We could tell the dogs warmed up to her immediately. The house was immaculate when we returned. We’ve already booked her for our next getaway. Five stars!”

“We got Andy to do an 8-day house sit with our 7-year old Aussie Shepherd mix. Andy was very communicative from the start (but not overly so), reliably followed the walking / meal schedule we requested, sent us photos of our pup every day during the sit, and left the house spotless. He's our best Rover experience to date, and we wouldn't hesitate to book him again!”

“I am SO lucky to have found Noelia to watch my beloved Theo while I was out of town for a bachelorette trip last weekend! She came over a few days before I left for a meet and greet/information session and Theo practically melted into her lap. While I was gone, she sent updates on how he was eating (he can be an anxious guy) and photos and videos of their neighborhood adventures together which was super adorable and so heartwarming. For my first time using rover AND having somebody new stay in my apartment with my 11lb pride and joy, I couldn’t have made a better choice with Noelia. I will be reaching out for her care again!! 🫶🏻🐾”

“Emily is hands-down the BEST sitter!! She went above and beyond in every aspect, like playing enrichment games & dog TV for Bowie! Bowie can be challenging and requires someone with lots of dog knowledge, which Emily has in spades. Emily asked thorough questions in our meet and greet and kept in touch during her stay with frequent updates and photos. I felt so comfortable leaving Bowie in her care and he had an absolute blast too!”

“Amina took care of my senior cat Taylor for a long weekend and I definitely recommend her to look after your pets. She was kind enough to meet before the stay and Taylor was comfortable with her presence and was out and about the whole weekend. Amina took daily photos and kept my apartment clean for my arrival. Book her if you need someone to look after your apartment and beloved pets!”

“Victoria took great care of our dog, cat, and home on very short notice!!! She was very responsive, sent regular updates, and left our home in great shape!! We would absolutely rebook her in the future and recommend her to others!”

“Moana sprained her leg just a day before Elisa was booked to house sit, but Elisa didn't even flinch and just showed up ready to take copious notes about our adjusted care instructions. She sent detailed reports each day with captioned pictures so we were constantly at ease and able to enjoy our time away knowing our baby was in the best hands. So grateful to have found Elisa ❤️❤️❤️”

“Krystle treated my 15 yr+ baby with love and care. She was kind enough to meet us ahead of the scheduled time to see if we agreed it would be a good fit long term. She left my place tidy and took great care of my sweet girl. Next time we will try a longer stay to see how she does. It was great having someone who understands the needs of senior pups.”
About: Hi! I’m a lifelong animal lover and experienced caretaker with years of hands-on experience. I’ve cared for both cats and dogs through every stage of life - kittens as young as 2 weeks old, senior cats with special needs, energetic pups who love adventure, and mellow dogs who prefer relaxed walks. I understand that every pet has their own personality, quirks, and comfort zones, and I tailor my care to match their needs. I genuinely enjoy daily walks and neighborhood exploring, whether it’s a quick stroll or a longer adventure. Some of my favorite spots include Lands End, Golden Gate Park, Baker Beach, and Ocean Beach - perfect for dogs who love fresh air, scenery, and new smells. Friends, neighbors, and family have trusted me for years to care for their pets while they’re away, and I take that responsibility seriously. I’m reliable, attentive, and always focused on making sure your pets feel safe, loved, and well cared for. Whether your kitty is playful, your pup is energetic, or they’re somewhere in between, I’m here to give them the care they deserve. I work remotely, which gives me the flexibility to care for pets throughout the day. Whether it’s dropping in for a visit, taking your dog out for a walk, or spending extended time with your cat, I can easily fit their care into my daily routine. If your kitty prefers company, I’m happy to work from your home so they’re not alone - perfect for cats who like a little extra attention (or supervision!). Caring for neighbors’ pets fits naturally into my schedule, and I’m always glad to provide walks, playtime, cuddles, and consistent updates while you’re away. Whether I’m caring for your cat at home or taking your dog out for a walk, my priority is making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. I follow any instructions you provide closely - feeding schedules, walk routines, medications, favorite toys, or preferred spots - because I know how important consistency is for pets. For drop-in visits, I make sure your pets get the attention they need during that time- play, cuddles, quiet companionship, a clean litter box, or fresh food and water. For dogs, that can also mean a refreshing walk to stretch their legs and explore. If I’m staying in your home, I keep their environment calm and familiar while also respecting your space.
About: 🐾 Welcome! 🐾 Hi! I’m Gabrielle, and I’d love to care for your pet while you’re away. I know how important it is to find someone you trust, and I treat every animal like they’re my own. I currently work part-time, so my schedule is pretty flexible, and I’m home a lot throughout the week. I live in Hayes Valley, which makes it easy for me to get out for walks or check in frequently if I’m caring for your pet in your home. I’ve grown up around animals my whole life and am comfortable with pets of all ages, sizes, and personalities. Whether your pet loves long walks, lots of playtime, sticking to a specific routine, or just wants someone to hang out and cuddle with, I’m happy to meet them where they’re at. I know every pet is different, so I always try to keep their routine as consistent as possible to help them feel comfortable and relaxed. I’ll make sure they get plenty of attention, exercise, and affection while you’re away, and I’m always happy to send updates and photos so you know they’re doing well. Whether you need someone for a quick drop-in, overnight care, or a longer stay, I’d love to help. Feel free to reach out with any questions. I can’t wait to meet you and your furry family member! My work schedule varies as I am a performing artist. There are periods of time I am on extended breaks during my off-season, however, when I am working I live only 2 minutes from work so it’s easy for me to come and go to check on your dog! Jace will have a lot more flexibility as he is transitioning careers and currently unemployed. Between the two of us one of us is likely to spend most if not all day with your pet! We are open to sittings and boardings. We also live very close to many parks and would love to give your dog a lot of outdoor time and social time if that’s appropriate.
“Alex & Chowder are the absolute best at providing excellent animal care. We have 2 anxious dogs who need a lot of specific attention, plus a cat which Alex (and Chowder) happily took on for 2 weeks while we travelled. We did a couple of trials beforehand which Alex was super open to, so the dogs could get used to her and Chowder, and Alex was extremely patient with all of my questions/anxieties about leaving the dogs, particularly our rescue dog who we had never left for so long before. Turns out, there was no need to worry - after a couple of days, they were all in a routine and were fully settled and happy. Alex would update us everyday and send some photos, would take the dogs on fun adventures and snuggle with them all on the couch. Both dogs cried a little when her and Chowder left. Finding amazing animal care is super hard and we feel so lucky we've found Alex who managed our little trio of crazy animals perfectly. Can't wait to work with Alex again and I'm sure the animals can't either!”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sausalito walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sausalito maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sausalito choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Sausalito. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
