She kept in contact with me on a daily basis. Our dogs liked her and were happy and safe when we came home. Our home was also exactly as we left when we came home which is always appreciated. I would definitely have Rong/Samantha watch our home and pets again!”
“We were so pleased with Huckleberry's care of our twelve year old pittie, Rico. He was very kind, sensitive, and deeply attuned to Rico's needs. Rico bonded with him right away.He also was very timely and responsible, and asked if we had specific house rules that we wanted him to follow. We will definitely ask him to sit for Rico again.”

“John's awesome! Communication was a breeze and he took extra care to clarify details with us. He was patient with our sometimes jumpy and reactive pup, and attentive to her needs. We felt very confident with her in his care!”

“We had a wonderful experience with Jessica (and Wyatt!) taking care of our two doggos from 9/2–9/5. Our bigger dog can be a bit reactive at first, and they were so understanding—they even agreed to meet her twice beforehand to make sure she felt comfortable. Jessica was very flexible, communicative through Rover, and made the whole process easy for us. We had just moved and then had to fly out to see our niece being born, so our pups were a little anxious, but Jessica gave them so much love and attention. She also sent us over 30 photos throughout the stay, which was such a comfort to see while we were away. Recommend Jessica for anyone looking for a thoughtful, reliable sitter!”

“Hong was wonderful with our puppy. She kept us up to date with frequent pictures and was so kind and loving to him. He really enjoyed having her care for him and was extremely happy the whole time. I highly recommend her if you are looking for the best care for your pet.”

About: For two years, I spent over 350 hours volunteering with dogs at the SF SPCA, taking all available dog training courses and earning certifications to work with puppies and dogs of all behavioral levels. I also served as a dog “matchmaker” where I helped clients find their perfect companion. My soft spot has always been for the nervous, shy dogs. I love seeing how time, space, and gentleness can open them up. It was incredible to watch them blossom over a few socialization visits and walks, and even more rewarding to help them find a home that would suit them, and their owners, best. I’ve had dogs myself over the years and am a frequent dog and cat sitter for many of my friends with pets. While my volunteer experience has been dog-focused, I'm equally comfortable with cats (have taken care of a house that had 15!) and have cared for more exotic pets too, including a parrot, hedgehog, and ferrets! I'm available for home visits/care for all animals and currently walks up to a mile. Additionally, I have a quiet, pet-friendly home and am able to board on a case by case basis for dogs I've worked with previously. I have experience working with dogs with different behavioral challenges (e.g. leash pulling, on and off leash aggression, very shy, anxious, etc.). Each dog is different, and I’m highly adept at reading cues and adapting based on their needs, as well as taking direction from owners. I'm used to multiple-pet households, complex feeding schedules, and administering medications. If your pet has specific needs I haven't addressed, send me a note! If I have experience in it I'll share, and if it's something I can learn, I'd love to. I want your pet to feel like I'm the next best thing to having you there and want to mimic their usual schedule and routine wherever possible. I’m a potter and am able to make my own schedule, so can accommodate you and your pet’s needs. If they have a favorite park, I'll plan our walks to go there. If they often get treats from a neighborhood shop, I'll include that route in our walk. For visits/walks I'll share a photo and update so you have peace of mind - I'll let you know when I arrive, and when I leave. And if there's anything out of the ordinary, I'll bring it to your attention. I want you to have absolute trust that your pet is getting the best care possible and that I'm looking out for them as if they were my own. I also want them to have the best time and to get excited the next time I see them! As a potter, I set my own hours and have flexibility throughout the day. I can accommodate morning, midday, or afternoon visits and walks, and am generally available for last-minute bookings. For every visit or walk, I'll send a photo and update - letting you know when I arrive, when I leave, and flagging anything out of the ordinary. For boarding, I have a quiet, pet-friendly home and only take dogs I've worked with previously to ensure a good fit. I'm experienced reading behavioral cues and adapting to each dog's needs, and I'll always follow your routines, feeding schedules, and any medical requirements closely.
“Priscilla recently house sat for us and was great! She took great care of my senior dog, was super responsive and left the house very clean. Definitely recommend her and hope to rebook in the future :)”

“Laurena was wonderful!! She got along great with my old, sometimes grumpy large dog. She provided plenty of photos and updates. I have had a number of dog sitters - Laurena gets my highest recommendation and I look forward to booking with her again.”

Maria was incredibly conscientious and reached out before the booking to confirm all the details. Throughout my trip, she checked in regularly and sent the sweetest photos of my dog, Sadie, which gave me so much peace of mind. When I returned home, my house was spotless, and it was obvious that Sadie had been well cared for and loved. She was an absolute delight to work with, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring pet sitter. In fact, I've already booked her again for my next trip!

Had an absolutely awesome experience with Angela! She came and house sat for the weekend and took such good care of my dog. Dog got lots of snuggles, walks and playtime, and she left my house spotless. I got lots of photo updates. Really easy to work with, very nice person! Will absolutely be booking you again! :)

Ida and Travis did an amazing job, would 100% recommend them! I have a cat that can be fairly mischievous but they were fully prepared and my kitty was in great hands. They followed all the instructions, and updated me frequently which was so nice. Came home to a clean house and a happy kitty! Thanks so much!!

Danielle is fantastic. She took time to get to know our dog before we left the country for a week and asked a lot of questions. She gave our very active 3-year-old pit bull plenty of attention, exercise and love. She also kept us up to date on how things were going and sent photos. We returned home to find a happy and relaxed dog. Danielle is also extremely personable and cool. I plan to hire her again when we need someone to take care of our dog. Hire with total confidence.

Donovan was amazing at taking care of our sweet girl. She is a reactive dog but Donovan was able to take her on walks no problem and play with her. He sent lots of photos and gave us reassurance that she was having a great time. My boyfriend’s flight also got delayed and he was able to take her for an extra walk. We will be rebooking in the future!

It was a pleasure having Travis and Prativa sit for Izzy. They regularly sent photos of Izzy and kept me up to date on how Izzy and the visit were going. I especially appreciate that they left the house just as I turned it over to them -- spotless and tidy. I'd love to have them sit with Izzy again and recommend them without reservation.
Jes was so great during his stay in our house with our two dogs. One is an elder (13 years old) the other a puppy (4 months old). They have quite different needs (and are both somewhat anxious dogs), but they had all those needs filled. Jes kept us updated about every little thing; it was clear he is a very attentive caretaker. I also appreciated a bonus: Jes is a spectacular pet photographer, so the photos he shared while watching the dogs are definitely frameable! :-D

Chen took wonderful care of my fur babies and gave me complete peace of mind while I was away. From the very beginning, he was responsive, professional, and genuinely caring. It was clear that he truly loves animals and treats them like family. I especially appreciated the regular updates, photos, and thoughtful communication throughout the stay. Knowing my fur babies were safe, happy, and receiving so much attention allowed me to fully relax. Chen took the time to understand their routines, personalities, and individual needs, and it was obvious that they felt comfortable and well cared for in his hands. What stood out most was Chen’s patience, kindness, and dedication. He went above and beyond to make sure my fur babies were happy, healthy, and loved while I was away. It’s not easy to find someone you can completely trust with beloved family members, but Chen earned that trust from day one. I highly recommend Chen to anyone looking for a reliable, compassionate, and trustworthy pet sitter. I would absolutely book with him again and am grateful to have found someone who cares for animals as if they were his own.

Hazar was wonderful!! She came over ahead of time to meet me and my dog, and I immediately felt comfortable with her. She is very responsive and responsible. She was excellent at communicating both before she came to stay and during her stay. I appreciated the photos she sent of my dog during her time here. She was able to follow all the instructions I had written and took good care of Bella! Hazar is very friendly and kind and I know my dog enjoyed her being there. I would have her back again in a heartbeat.

Katie did such a great job hanging with our beloved dog and cat. They both seemed to be happy and calm when we returned and she was very respectful and clean staying in our home. We’d definitely feel very comfortable booking her for house and pet sitting whenever we’re out of town!

Juliana is awesome!! She house sat for us for a few days and took super great care of our kitties and sent us very sweet pictures. Juliana is very kind, responsible, trustworthy and all around wonderful - we hope to have her watch our kitties again in the future!

Kirsten was absolutely amazing! Not only did she take fantastic care of our animals, but she even managed to teach our 100lb dog some much-needed manners. We really appreciated her excellent communication, especially all the cute photos and videos she sent while we were away. She was also incredibly respectful of our home and left everything in pristine condition. We are so grateful and hope to have her back soon!

Daniel was a great and reliable pet sitter who took care of our pets with TLC. He kept us posted on how the pets were doing and was communicative. He took a walk with me and came to the house to get to know the pets and our routines before he stayed for a weekend at our home. He appreciated our pets a lot and took great care of them. We look forward to having him pet sit for us again soon. It is a relief to enjoy a vacation when you know someone is reliable, caring and concerned with your pets so one can fully enjoy the time away without worry.

Jessie is amazing, when I got back after four nights, my foster kitty Juniper was so relaxed and happy. And when Jessie came back to drop off the key, Juniper jumped down off the fence and headed straight to her to greet her, and then afterward followed her to her car as she left. She's down to earth and easy to talk to, she made it a breeze and I was absolutely confident Juniper was in excellent hands. The place was immaculate and I felt lucky knowing Juniper was with Jessie while I was away.

FAQs for House Sitting - Albany
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Albany on Rover is $65.49 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 8,364 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Albany. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Albany walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Albany maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Albany choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Albany. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
