Angela was amazing! She offered to do a meet and greet before sitting, which was perfect for my dog who is a little wary of new people. I also got plenty of updates and pictures. And I was able to enjoy my time away worry free because she was in such good hands.

Lisa was the most attentive sitter, as always, but went absolutely above and beyond this time when we introduced a huge curveball—adding an additional foster cat to the roster along with our resident cats! She took the time to learn a new, very involved routine for caring for the kitties, and was so patient and sweet to them. We couldn’t imagine a more ideal outcome than how the week went with Lisa. She is truly the best cat and house sitter we could ask for!

Lucy is such a warm and attentive pet sitter for my puppy, and I am so glad to have found her! She is punctual, professional, responsive, and happy to share information about her time with my pup. She also clearly knows so much about animals, I feel great about leaving my fur baby with her. She is gentle and kind with my sensitive dog, and she truly seems to enjoy being with her, which feels great! Highly recommend Lucy!

We joined Rover hoping to connect with someone who is kind, responsible, caring about animals and above all, patient, who we could forge a relationship with that would be durable for the long-term. Ikeena has all of these qualities. As a family that travels regularly, whose family and friends have generally all grown-out of the idea of a week at our place as a mini-getaway, we are so thrilled to have connected with her. We got to know each other over zoom and some schedule walks and impromptu hellos and Ikeena dealt with our nerves of building trust with aplomb. Never were we made to feel silly for wanting to meet again or another walk or for having a several pages long doc about staying at our house and caring for our sweet little brown boy, Chicks. During her recent stay here we barely worried about a thing. Ikeena kept in touch with us regularly and Chicks seriously enjoyed being not just cared for, but spoiled by her. She went above and beyond!

Our puppy Murphy is a big energetic boy who loves to get into mischief. Kat did a great job with him, and he was a happy boy when we got home. Since this was our first time leaving him with someone else, I was very relieved that he did so well with her. I would definitely trust her again to watch our boy!

We can’t thank Michelle enough for the incredible care she provided to Hampton during our 12 day trip. This was our first extended vacation since Hampton was recently diagnosed with chf, and leaving him was understandably stressful. From our very first meet and greet, Michelle immediately put us at ease with her kindness, confidence, and genuine love for animals. Hampton now requires medication six times a day, and Michelle never hesitated to take on his complex care routine. She made sure he stayed on schedule, kept us updated with thoughtful messages and photos, and treated him like he was her own. Knowing he was in such capable and compassionate hands allowed us to truly relax and enjoy our vacation. We came home to a happy, healthy pup and a spotless home. Michelle exceeded every expectation, and we would not hesitate to book with her again. If you’re looking for someone who is dependable, attentive, and truly goes above and beyond, Michelle is the one. Thank you again for everything! We are so grateful.

About: Hi! I'm Nicole, and I've been caring for dogs through Rover for nearly ten years. I know how important it is to find someone you can genuinely trust with your pet, and I treat every dog in my care as if they were my own. I've had dogs my entire life, including Labs, rescues, and senior pets, and have experience with dogs of many different ages, sizes, personalities, and energy levels. Whether your dog loves long walks, exploring new trails, playing fetch, or simply curling up for a quiet afternoon, I'm happy to meet them where they are. I work primarily from home, which allows me to provide lots of companionship, regular potty breaks, exercise, and attention throughout the day. I love spending time outdoors, and dogs in my care typically enjoy multiple walks each day, along with plenty of rest, enrichment, and affection. I know leaving your dog with someone else can feel stressful, so I make communication a priority. You'll receive regular updates and photos so you can relax knowing your pup is safe, happy, and well cared for. I'd love to meet you and your dog. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions! I work primarily from home, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to spend plenty of quality time with the pets in my care. I do teach a few yoga classes in the evenings, but pets are typically left alone for no more than about three hours at a time. I'm available on weekdays, weekends, and holidays, and I provide overnight house sitting so your pets can stay comfortable in their own home and maintain their normal routine. My goal is to make your time away as stress-free as possible for both you and your pets. I take the time to learn your pet's routine and preferences and follow your instructions closely, from feeding schedules and medications to favorite walking routes and bedtime routines. I'm experienced caring for puppies, senior dogs, rescue dogs, and pets with special needs, including administering medications when needed. Dogs are always walked on leash unless you've told me otherwise, and I prioritize safety, consistency, and calm care at all times. I'll also send regular updates and photos so you can enjoy your trip knowing your pets are happy and well cared for.

We asked Hong to care for our two dachshunds at our home for 2 weeks. Like many people on Rover, she clearly loves dogs, but even more, she was an incredible caregiver to our beloved pets. They had multiple daily walks and play time and outdoor time sitting in the sun or the yard. One of our dogs has had spine surgery and is not as mobile as he used to be. She was so patient with him and his extremely slow walking, reactive barking, and need for regular potty breaks. She gave them terrific care and even made some suggestions for their diet. In addition to be an excellent dog lover and carer, she is an excellent communicator and very professional, sharing photos, videos, and updates that let us know our dogs were doing well. She also took great care of our home while we were away, even helping water our plants. We give Hong our highest recommendation.

Ana did a great job with my special needs cat, as well as the rest of my busy pet household. My cats took to Ana’s energy right away. Ana monitored my constipated cat’s specific bathroom needs, administered his medication and complex dietary requirements. Ana kept my anxious dog calm and engaged. She also left the house tidy (probably tidier than when she got in), and was well organized and informative through the app. Highly recommend Ana for your cats and dogs, especially if they suffer from chronic constipation or low level anxiety. 💖

Char was excellent when we had a last-minute cancellation and needed to find a sitter. William was a great house sitter, he made sure that our elderly cat got his twice-daily medication while we were out of town for over a week, took it upon himself to deadhead some of our indoor plants that needed it, and provided quality banter along the way. He also left us a little gift bundle that meant we had something to eat after waking up jet-lagged the morning after getting home! 10/10 would book again.

Ella was attentive and conscientious with our pup and home. She asked questions and for feedback during her 6-day stay with us. She sent lots of cute photos of our pup as well. She did run into some difficulty walking our 8 1/2 year old pup who can be reactive to loud cars and other dogs on leashes. She takes getting used to on walks with timeouts and corrections. Happily, our pup is super easy going in the house and loving though and it seems like Ella enjoyed her time with her. Thanks for staying with us Ella!

FAQs for House Sitting - Albany

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Albany on Rover is $64.94 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 8,465 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Albany. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Albany walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Albany maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Albany choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Albany. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
