About: Small or large, reactive or secure, your dog will feel at home with me. For the last 10+ years I have been pet sitting and walking my neighbor's pets and this summer I'd like to expand my reach to the rest of the East Bay. I have experience administering medication, cooking food for pets, and making dogs feel at ease in my presence. In the last year or so I have picked up some dog training, and I would be happy to incorporate some of this training into my walks with your pup. Summer 2026 will be an extremely flexible time for me to pick up pet walking/sitting gigs. I have a dog of my own that will join dog walks only if my client is okay with it. I have a fenced yard and a housemate who works from home and loves dogs as well. I make sure my dog gets plenty of time outside and some movement throughout her day.

Harold was easy-going and accessible in the planning process. He is kind, practical, and good with dogs. Our dogs received great care, and he was especially careful with our elderly dog, doing extra work to help her and clean up after her, which we really appreciated. We used Harold for three nights of house-sitting and we found our home was in good order and the dogs were calm when we got home. Very happy to have found him!

About: Over the last few years I've become my friends, and friends of friends, go to person for pet care! I've always loved animals and grew up with pups in the home. During COVID I started sitting for friends and colleagues of mine who had to return to the office. My flexible WFH schedule gives me plenty of time to go on walks, feeding, and of course play. I also have a pup of my own and am comfortable working with puppies. I work remotely so my schedule is extremely flexible! Here is a rough idea of my schedule, although there is definitely room to move things around: open Mondays, Tuesday’s early morning , open Fri-Sun. I treat every pet that I am with as if they were my own! Every pet has different needs and I pride my myself on noting the needs of each one that is in my care. I always ask owners about house rules as well as their pets like and dislikes so I can make sure I'm keeping them safe and happy. As a pet owner myself, I only hope to give the owners the peace of mind knowing their pet is getting the best care and attention!

Mandisa took great care of our little terrier, Luna (who can be a handful some times). I especially appreciated her responsiveness and professionalism throughout the process, which provided such peace of mind, and the notes she left afterward, which were super helpful for managing an issue Luna's been having lately, where she gets so excited by the neighborhood cats that she forgets to potty when you take her outside. Ah, terriers. We look forward to booking with Mandisa agin.

We are so lucky to have met Kaja! She’s taken excellent care of our giant pups (an energetic rottie and a pittie) both times she’s stayed with them. Kaja is experienced caring for all kinds of dogs and was clearly confident and comfortable with our dogs reactivity (they’re loves but not great with other dogs). She is an excellent communicator and has a calming, patient, grounding presence that put all of us (humans and dogs!) at ease as soon as we met. She sent us thoughtful pictures and updates while we were away and missing our dogs and took great care of our home as well. We would recommend her to anyone and will reach out again next time we need a dog sitter!

About: I genuinely enjoy being around animals, I take care of dogs by keeping the environment calm, clean and safe, giving them patient, reliable attention. I make sure they feel comfortable, supervised and cared for. I’m a student at Carrington College so I have a busy schedule in the morning, but i’m free in the afternoon! My school schedule is Monday and Wednesday from 7:30am-11:30am & Tuesday and Friday from 8:30am-2:00pm I’m free Thursday, Saturday & Sunday all day. In my home, I make sure the space is clean, pet‑safe, and free of anything they could chew or swallow. I keep doors and windows secured, monitor pets closely, and give them a calm environment. Liliana and Gerardo took excellent care of our two dogs and house while we were away. They were quick to respond, followed all care instructions and we came home to healthy and relaxed pups. As an example, Liliana added in additional walks before they went out to ensure the dogs had really done their business after observing our dogs tendencies to go out in the backyard and lounge instead. Will definitely book again.

Danielle is fantastic. She took time to get to know our dog before we left the country for a week and asked a lot of questions. She gave our very active 3-year-old pit bull plenty of attention, exercise and love. She also kept us up to date on how things were going and sent photos. We returned home to find a happy and relaxed dog. Danielle is also extremely personable and cool. I plan to hire her again when we need someone to take care of our dog. Hire with total confidence.

Tania has been our primary pet sitter for the past two years and we cannot say enough positive things about our experience working with her! She is amazingly warm, kind, thoughtful, and above all professional! She genuinely cares about our dog, Ernie and takes exceptional care of him. He is a senior dog and is both blind and mostly deaf, but Tania is always thinking of ways to engage and stimulate him - to make sure he has the most positive experience possible. Tania has watched him at our home multiple times, including most recently when we took a 20-day trip to Ireland. We were able to leave our precious fur-kid in Tania’s care with absolutely zero concerns. Not only does Tania take outstanding care of our dog, but she also takes meticulous care of our home. She waters our plants as needed, feeds our backyard squirrels and birds, and ensures that everything is even cleaner and better than we left it. We are so grateful to have found Tania and absolutely love having her care for our dog, Ernie. Tania is simply the best!

We had an absolutely wonderful experience with Lexx! She stayed in our home for a full week and took amazing care of our three dogs, and we truly couldn’t have asked for anyone better. From the start, she was communicative, professional, and clearly loves animals. While we were away, she sent regular updates, which gave us so much peace of mind and let us fully enjoy our trip knowing our pups were happy and safe. When we returned home, the house was spotless and the dogs were relaxed and clearly very loved. It was obvious they were comfortable with her and had kept their normal routines, which means everything to us as pet parents. We are incredibly grateful and would trust her again in a heartbeat. If you’re looking for someone reliable, responsible, and genuinely caring to watch your pets, we highly recommend her!

Signe was an excellent sitter for Aki. She kindly visited in advance so I could make sure they were a good match, and Aki was comfortable with her right away. On the day of our trip, she arrived early to match our departure time, which was very helpful. During our trip, she sent us photos of Aki, so we could relax and enjoy our travels without worry. She carefully followed all of my detailed instructions, including weight management, nighttime tooth brushing, body wiping, and eye drops. She also took Aki on outings to places like the nearby beach and mountains using her own car, which I really appreciated. Most of all, I was grateful for her flexibility with the schedule so Aki would not have to stay alone for too long before we returned home. Signe was reliable, thoughtful, and truly caring. I would be very happy to book with her again.

FAQs for House Sitting - North Richmond

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in North Richmond on Rover is $73.92 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 7,861 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across North Richmond. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred North Richmond walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in North Richmond maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in North Richmond choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in North Richmond. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
