“You took great care of Maia and she seemed happy and settled in easily. We appreciate you being very welcoming and we knew she would get along with other dogs and be well cared for. We'll definitely be back in touch when we travel again!”

“We were in a pinch with our doggy care falling through at the last minute before heading out of town for a long weekend. We jumped on Rover and landed on Ali’s profile. We loved all of the wonderful, glowing reviews people left for her. We were really excited that she was available to provide care for our one and a half year old Australian Labradoodle so last minute. Ali is a great communicator. She was clear with her instructions and provided updates and photos/videos of our pup in the time that she was providing care for her. Our puppy came home super happy and very exhausted! It’s clear she got the chance to run and play with other dogs quite a bit during her stay at Ali’s. We will definitely reach out to Ali in the future when we need care for our pup.”

“Wenxin is super friendly, a total dog lover (she has two rescue dogs who are very friendly and cheerful), and took great care of my dog while I was away. She sent very detailed, fun to read daily reports that chronicled every activity they did indoor and outdoor. Best dog sitter that you can find - no question!”

“My animals are always so happy and healthy after a stay with Mariola! They definitely see it as their home away from home. I'll absolutely have them stay there, pretty much any time I leave town.”

“Luis and Vivian are very friendly and caring. They were easy to communicate with and helpful in accommodating our schedule. Our dog was very happy to stay with them, and we'll be sure to reach out again if we need a petsitter in the future!”

“My very small mini Shih Tzu enjoyed playing with the five-year-old son and one year-old son of this family. She seemed comfortable with the other two dogs that were there I feel the Care was very good and that she was well taken care of”

“Michelle is fantastic! She took good care of my dog, which includes feeding him daily medication and treats. She took him on walks next to the bay and send me periodic updates. 5/5 would recommend.”

“Deborah was terrific! She is gentle, calm, and clearly knows how to take care of cats. She was highly communicative, timely, etc. It was so reassuring to have my 2 cats in her care.”

“Kelly has such a welcoming and kind personality and our sweet doodle was in great hands while we were away for 6 nights. He was loved, played with and snuggled by her sweet children to keep him company while we were away. Definitely planning to call her again. Thank you, Kelly!”

“Viola went above and beyond with the care for our sweet baby Rahki. She got him used to daily walks and gave so much love and care and also was super flexible with drop off and pick up.”

“Sabin did a wonderful job with my dog. It was the first timeI had ever left her with a stranger. She didn’t seem to miss me at all He took her on daily walks, gave her meds and sent me daily pics of her having a great time and becoming part of the family. I also liked that his home was very tidy. I will be leaving my dog with Sabin whenever I need to board my dog.”

“This whole process of pet sitting was unfamiliar and a whole new experience for us but Nadine welcomed us into her home like family which made it all easy. Romeo felt so comfortable during our arrival that as she opened the door he let himself right in and didn't look back. Romeo stayed for 5 nights and Nadine kept us updated regularly communicating by messages and sending us memorable photos of him and her pups while on our vacation. Romeo looked so comfortable and happy to be part of the group. We felt our dog was being well taken care of as Romeo was her own. Her family and pups did a great job keeping him comfortable and happy which put us at ease while we were thousands of miles away from home. I highly recommend Nadine and will be going back to her in the future! Thank you so much!!”

“Ross, Melissa, and Millie were the best sitters we could ask for! We received constant photo updates and they loved on our pups as if they were their own! Our dogs were sad to leave and we could tell from all the photos, walks, and adventures that they had an absolute blast. Would absolutely rebook again when we are out of town and need a sitter!”

“Christine was incredibly easy to communicate with, professional, and showed wonderful care for my dog Manchi! She navigated her anxiety and quirks so well, took her on a bunch of walks, and even gave me a polaroid of her holding a show, her favorite thing to do 😊”

“Maria was great with my poodle mix pita. She sent me updates and pictures. Her house is very clean and tidy. We will be booking with her again. Great experience. Thank you Maria!”

“Wonderful sitter! Took great care of Scout and kept me updated with photos/videos. Scout went on fun hikes and looked so happy and well cared for the entire time. Highly recommend!”

“We deeply appreciate that Scooter is well loved and taken care of. We never have to worry if he will be okay. Yuko and pack treats him like their own. We are thrilled to say we have found Scooter’s trusted & preferred people to leave him with when needed.”

“Banksy had an amazing time at Luna's and loved playing with Jim. I felt extremely comfortable leaving Banksy with Luna, based on the questions she asked about Banksy, her attention to detail about his needs and safety, and just her kind warm personality! I loved the pictures each day. I wholeheartedly recommend Luna and will definitely be having her watch Banksy again!”

Jennifer and her husband took great care of Niko during his recent stay with them. He enjoyed lots of walks, hanging out with their dog, and his favorite activity —soccer. They were tolerant of our uncertain schedule, and kept us posted with notes and photos while we were away. We will definitely use them again!

Mariah is incredibly kind, warm, responsible, and flexible. She took great care of Bolo and helped maintain our training protocols (which can be a big ask with a 10 month old pup!) She did careful and thoughtful introductions with her doggies, took Bolo on walks, fed him, and made sure he was comfortable and happy. She also sent frequent updates and photos, so I could relax knowing my little guy was doing alright. Her house is perfect for dogs - she has multiple gates to separate dogs as needed and a big yard for the pups to play. She also lives on a quiet street, so there are not cars zooming by.

Kaja took in our 5 month old puppy last minute so our family could go out of town for a funeral. Once I chatted with her on the phone, I knew our puppy would be in good hands. It was a relief to have one less thing to worry about. Kaja was incredibly communicative and sent us photos and videos. Would absolutely rebook.

Ross, Melissa, and Millie were the best sitters we could ask for! We received constant photo updates and they loved on our pups as if they were their own! Our dogs were sad to leave and we could tell from all the photos, walks, and adventures that they had an absolute blast. Would absolutely rebook again when we are out of town and need a sitter!

Jacqueline gave Paxton the most love and attention! I appreciated the daily updates and she was very responsive. You can tell she truly loves pets and will give them the absolute best care! We’re so happy to have found her, and will continue to book with her in the future.

Louis was great with my shy 8-year-old pittie. It normally takes at least a full day for Thor to warm up to new people, but after just a 15-minute introduction at Louis’s home, he acted like he’d lived there his entire life. Louis has a real gift for making anxious dogs feel comfortable and safe.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their North Richmond home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your North Richmond.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your North Richmond sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
