“Daria is absolutely amazing. She is so good with my puppy. He absolutely adores her. When I came home he was fed well, potty trained, and super happy. 10/10 😊😊”

“Christine was wonderful and kept me informed with everything that was going on at my house. When I got home, the dogs were calm, which to me is a good sign of a caring sitter.”

“Demi was a great house sitter for my dog Meatball! She was respectful of the house, gave us great updates and showed him a lot of love. We would definitely use her again!”

“We can’t thank Michelle enough for the incredible care she provided to Hampton during our 12 day trip. This was our first extended vacation since Hampton was recently diagnosed with chf, and leaving him was understandably stressful. From our very first meet and greet, Michelle immediately put us at ease with her kindness, confidence, and genuine love for animals. Hampton now requires medication six times a day, and Michelle never hesitated to take on his complex care routine. She made sure he stayed on schedule, kept us updated with thoughtful messages and photos, and treated him like he was her own. Knowing he was in such capable and compassionate hands allowed us to truly relax and enjoy our vacation. We came home to a happy, healthy pup and a spotless home. Michelle exceeded every expectation, and we would not hesitate to book with her again. If you’re looking for someone who is dependable, attentive, and truly goes above and beyond, Michelle is the one. Thank you again for everything! We are so grateful.”

“Laura’s first time dog sitting for us went smoothly. This was an overnight trip. She sent us photo updates and was responsive when we texted to check in. When we got home, the house was tidy, their water bowls were filled, and Cannoli and Da Vinci were in good spirits. We’ve booked Laura for an extended stay while we’re on an international trip. Thanks, Laura!”

“Bryanna was great! Ready to jump in and help in anyway possible. Took a last minute booking that REALLY helped us. Bryanna was more than happy to go over details with us before the sitting. All the questions Bryanna asked us about our dog and his needs made it apparent that our dog would be cared for while we were gone. We came back to a happy, tired, and well-cared for dog! Would absolutely book again 😊”

“We recently went away for five nights and we couldn’t have asked for a better house sitter for our cat and dog! Nicky was so patient and great with our dog, who is generally shy with strangers but warmed up to Nicky in no time. She was incredibly communicative and thoughtful in making sure she knew everyone’s regular routine and making herself super available and present with our pets while we were away. Betty and Freddie have a new BFF :) They had such a fun weekend with her. Plus, our house was so clean and tidy when we got home! It was so nice to be able to travel and know everyone was getting such good care while we were away. Thanks so much, Nicky!!!”

“Angelique was flexible, communicative, and super loving with our dogs. She was willing to come walk/meet the dogs prior and get to know them and our house. Her messages during the trip were informative, reassuring and had pics to make it easy to know our pups were doing well. We’ll definitely be adding her to who we reach out to for future trips. Thank you!”

“Jisselle was so great with our dog and cat. She sent us lots of photos of them clearly very happy. And she left our home in tiptop shape, too. I can really recommend her.”
“Kaiya helped us last minute with a drop in over the holidays for our 2 medium sized rescue dogs. She was very kind and patient with them. She was easy to communicate with and asked good questions which helped me feel reassured. We will be working with her again.”

“We are very happy to have found Lisette to housesit and take care of our new dog, Pony. This was our first trip away after adopting a dog with separation anxiety and some leash reactivity, so we were a bit nervous. Lisette came over for a meet-and-greet and was very calm and comfortable with Pony. On the day of our departure she came over right on time and jumped in with Pony, feeding him and taking him on a walk. She sent pictures twice a day and reassured us that things were going well. She also took great care of our apartment and left it very neat and tidy. We hope we can have her stay again next time.”

“Natalia is very sweet and kind to the dogs and took good care of them while we were away for a weekend. She stayed at our home, keeping the dogs happy and without stress. I will definitely ask for her again when the need arises, and I highly recommend her.”

“Eleanna was amazing! From following our instructions, to communicating with us throughout the stay, to truly ensuring our little guy got the love and attention he needed. I couldn’t recommend her enough! We will certainly be rebooking her in the future! Thanks again Eleanna!”

“David was absolutely wonderful! He took great care of Bear, making sure he got plenty of exercise, attention, and love while I was away. I really appreciated the updates, photos, and videos - they gave me so much peace of mind. I couldn't have asked for a better pet sitter. I highly recommend him.”

“Nicole was an amazing dog sitter, and I would use her again in a heartbeat. My dachshund is an older guy, and he is both deaf and struggling with dementia, which means that he requires a lot of care and help. Nicole was incredibly accommodating with regard to his needs - organizing her household to make it safe for him, watching him closely when he was around other dogs, etc. Nicole is also very gracious. For example, I found out upon returning from a two week trip that my dog had been waking her up really early. Rather than complaining about that - which would have been totally justified! - she figured out a way to deal with his early morning needs. Communication was wonderful, I received updates and pictures multiple times a day, and when I picked my pooch up, he seemed happy and well adjusted. Thank you so much Nicole!!”
“Ashley was a great dog & house sitter! She deeply understands animals, especially large dogs. Great communication, updates, and care for our dog over our wedding weekend which gave us peace of mind to enjoy our time away. Ashley took great care of our place and went above and beyond with a couple house tasks and nice notes to welcome us home. Would absolutely recommend her to watch your pets and place!!”

“Ale did an amazing job caring for my baby! She sent photos and updates daily, took G for a few long walks and made sure he was set with all his pills! I came back to a clean house and a happy pup- thank you!!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - San Leandro
Lena and Alexander saved the day! My previous sitter canceled right before and I needed to find someone last minute. Lena and Alex came to the rescue quickly—they put me at ease and I felt comfortable leaving my boy with them while I enjoyed a night out! They were very communicative and trustworthy.

I had a fantastic experience and highly recommend Patrice! She was incredibly communicative and sent great pictures, which really put my mind at ease. Not only did she take wonderful care of my dog, but she also took great care of the house. The entire process was so easy and stress-free. I will absolutely be using her again!

We hired Daria for our first overnight dog/house-sitting for our two senior dogs. Our dogs were immediately very comfortable with her (including our Chihuahua mix, who is wary of new people). Daria sent regular updates with photos and asked through questions about their care. Our dogs were clearly very well cared for. I would definitely recommend Daria's pet care services to a friend.

Julia is wonderful. She was very quick to respond, reliable and trustworthy. She took the very best care of my aging dog Loki and kept her happy while I was away. I got home and Loki was smiling ear to ear! Julia kept the house super clean, sent lots of updates and was awesome all around. Thanks Julia

This was the best boarding experience we ever had! Tinwa and JieYing took such good care of 8 year old dog. Our dog has some special needs and they made sure all of his needs were met and gave him all of the attention in the world. We received photos and videos everyday of our dog having a great time. It was so nice to know that he was being loved and cared for rather than just fed and walked. Would 100% rebook again!

Mei was an absolutely amazing pet sitter! She took such wonderful care of my two kitties and treated my home with so much care and respect. She kept me updated with messages and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. It was clear that she genuinely cared about my cats and made sure they were happy and comfortable. I came home to two relaxed, well-cared-for kitties and a spotless home. I feel so lucky to have found Mei and will absolutely be booking with her again!

Nicole was fantastic! Xiao is a covid dog and has struggled with socializing. Although she’s in daycare she doesn’t have a lot of 1:1 time with other dogs. Nicole asked if we would be open to Xiao meeting her dog and we loved that! This extra care for Xiao was awesome and we really appreciated it. Thanks Nicole!

Alisha did a wonderful job caring for our two dogs while we were overseas for two weeks. This was our first time hiring a house sitter, and were a bit anxious about leaving our pups (a 9 month old and a 16 year old) with a new person, but Alisha's friendliness and professionalism made us feel comfortable right away. Everything went smoothly, we received regular updates and responses to our communications. When we came home the house was sparkling and the pups were happy! We will definitely be repeat customers!

Leo was awesome with our pets. It was our first time leaving our pup Milo who is a 10 month pit with him along with 2 cats. And he took such good care of them and sent us the best pics (professional photography levels) we felt at so much ease knowing Leo is taking care of them. We trusted Leo completely thanks to his amazing communication and care. We most definitely will be using Leo again for caring for our babies and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for utmost care and love for your pets. Thank you so much Leo. You rock !!

We are so happy to have connected with Jamie who provided house-sitting care for our daughter’s husky-malamute mix, Kazami. Jaime was caring and attentive to Kazami, who at 2.5 years old is energetic and loves the attention! Jamie walked, fed, and played with her, and was an absolute pleasure to work with. Our family can wholeheartedly recommend Jaime!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred San Leandro walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in San Leandro maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in San Leandro choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in San Leandro. On Rover:

- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
