“I booked boarding with Jill (Hui-Min) for an extended work trip and is so happy I trusted my 3 year old golden doodle, Mika, in her care. From meeting Jill for the first time, she patiently addressed all my questions and even made specific an accommodations for Mika due to her not getting along with a separate dog she was watching at the time. Jill was very transparent with her alternative arrangements which put me at ease to leave her with Jill for an extended period of several weeks. I recommend booking Jill. Mika can’t wait to see Jill again at her house!”

About: I grew up surrounded by dogs and cats since birth and have spent my whole life building a deep understanding of animal behavior and care. Growing up, my family raised two litters of puppies, giving me hands-on experience with everything from newborn care to socialization and training throughout various life stages. I currently share my home with three dogs of my own and I regularly care for friends' cats and dogs, both in my home and theirs. I'm comfortable with dogs of all sizes, from small lap dogs to large breeds, and know that each comes with its own personality, energy level, and needs. People tell me I'm not just a dog person but also someone dogs are drawn to. Cats have been a constant in my life just as long as dogs have. I know how to read their cues, respect their space, and earn their trust on their own terms. I genuinely love every stage of a pet's life and know how to meet each animal where they are, whether that's an energetic puppy, a curious cat, or a laid-back senior. I’ve worked in human crisis intervention for over 6 years, which means I stay calm under pressure and know how to respond quickly and clearly when something unexpected happens. That same steady, caring approach is what I bring to every pet I look after. I do Rover to supplement my nonprofit career, so when I take on your pet it's because I genuinely want to be here, not because I have to be. Your pet won't just be cared for, they'll feel right at home! I work from home on a flexible schedule that I primarily set myself, which means I'm present with your pet throughout the day rather than leaving them alone for long stretches. We have a fenced yard for outdoor time and can separate pets as needed, so your animal has a safe, comfortable space even with my own dogs in the home. My partner, Jen, is also available to support with pet care and walks if you are comfortable with Jen stepping in at times. Between both of our schedules, we can better accommodate recurring clients who need weekly care! There are photos of Jen at the end of my photo section. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priority. I treat every pet like they're my own. My home is pet-proofed with a fenced yard, and I can separate animals as needed so everyone has their own safe space alongside my own dogs. I always want to know your pet's routine, quirks, and preferences ahead of time so I can keep things as normal and comfortable as possible for them. With a lifetime of experience with dogs and cats of all ages and sizes, I'm confident handling whatever comes up, and my crisis intervention background means I stay calm and act fast if an emergency arises.
“Radha was great as usual, we reached out in the morning for a same day daycare request and she responded right away. Our dog was so excited to see her and Jimmy. We got pictures and video all day that showed our dog having so much fun. Radha is so great and we'll be booking with her again.”

“Eileen and Rolando are amazing! We did a meet and greet with my pup and Toro before our weekly dog day care, very friendly invited us right in. Toro is a sweetheart and I'm glad my pup has a cheerful bud to hang with during the day. We get pictures and updates throughout the day and they take them out a couple of times, so plenty of attention and entertainment. Thank you both!”

I helped take care of my disabled neighbors dog for 2-3 years as a teen before before becoming a dog owner of my own. I can offer walks tailored to your dogs energy whether that be a brisk neighborhood stroll & playtime or a calm sniff & relaxed walk. I can help with training puppies and administer medication. You'll receive reliable, safe and fun care with regular photo updates! I'm available everyday 8 am to 10 pm. If I am doing overnight then I'm available for around the clock care. I'm flexible as I committing to animal care full time. I have a large backyard with grass that is fenced in. We live in a safe quiet neighborhood with not a lot of traffic. I have all the items your dogs needs (toys, a crate and even food if needed). Our dog Sunny is friendly and playful with other dogs.
“Ashish was great! We did a Meet and Greet a few days before so Penny could meet Andy. We met Andy and Ashish’s son - both were so sweet 🥰😍 I would definitely recommend his services for doggie daycare. He sent pics and Penny seemed to enjoy herself in his lovely backyard - it was a nice sunny day.”

“Because of Gail’s abundant kindness and generosity, I feel quite confident entrusting my special companion into her care. I think that she treat him well, be kind, and give him every opportunity to adjust to his reality today! Thank you, Gail, for being so gentle with Ebony this morning, and for going out of your way to make the connection easy for us!”

“Kelly was wonderful with my pup Mochi, and easy to communicate with. I just got Mochi (a rescue) a couple of weeks ago so I was nervous about leaving him for the day but Kelly was very reassuring and Mochi had a great time!”

“Christiano is great with our dog. He is such a nice guy and you can tell he really cares about animals. We feel comfortable leaving our boy with him and know he's in good hands. It's really nice to have someone we can rely on when we need a dog sitter. He even was able to take our dog last minute/day of when we needed someone. Our dog also has some specific needs and Christiano is always accommodating. Definitely recommend him and his team!”

“Jessica is a natural with dogs! She is very thoughtful and detail oriented. I have 2 seniors with special health needs and she is very attentive and reliable. My dogs are anxious with changes to their routine but after a few days with Jessica they were happy to rush into her place when I dropped off, and tried to follow her back to her place instead of getting in the car to leave after pick up. I definitely recommend Jessica!”

About: Hi! We are Angelina and Xavior & we are here to be your fur baby’s new favorite sitter! We joined Rover in 2018 & have met so many amazing fur babies & pet parents! I (Angelina) have been taking care of different animals since I was about 9 years old, however as of 5 years ago I’ve started to work with pets in a more professional setting. I started at a doggie daycare, until moved to a training & boarding kennel. The owner also did have a dog rescue as well. There I worked with one of the best dog trainers in Northern Virginia for almost 2 years & learned a lot not only about dog training but also working with rescue pups & how it sometimes can be a bit different! After that I worked at an SPCA location with rescue pups & kitties! We relocated to Atlanta for a while where we continued to do Rover & I also worked at another doggie daycare/kennel/rescue hybrid! Aside from this I do also have a dog training certification as well as a grooming certification. We both have experience with a variety of animals including but not limited to dogs, cats, cows, goats, horses, reptiles, birds, rodents, etc. We hope this gives you a bit more Insight on us both & we can’t wait to hear from you! I recently made the decision to work on rover full-time as I love being able to provide at-home care for your fur babies that cannot board in a kennel-like-environment. Pet care will always fit in perfectly to my routine! We will always follow your pet’s typical routine unless otherwise requested. We know how stressful it can be for both the pet & pet parent, which is why your baby is always our top priority. Whether it is a drop-in, quick walk, or month long stay we make sure to give your baby lots of love while their you are away! We have a dog who is quite the social butterfly! If your baby also loves to make friends she would be a great addition to keeping us company!

Jessica was there for me when I needed daycare in a pinch! She was reliable and, based on the pictures she sent and Chase’s joyful dash towards her when I dropped him off on his second day, an excellent attentive dog-sitter. I’ll happily use her services in the future.

My former Rover professional recently retired and I had to find a replacement. I was so, so glad I found this pair to watch my treasured Kyle. I have been interacting with Lucas. He is always prompt in meeting me when I drop off Kyle and when I pick him up. During our Meet and Greet Lucas showed me his home and doggie-perfect back yard. I was impressed. He also spent some time with me introducing me to the six other dogs that were there. The meeting was informative and a good chance for the two of us to see how Kyle fit in. Lucas is a true professional. He couldn't be better.

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 4,439 sitters in Richmond, 87% respond to messages in under an hour.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
