About: I grew up surrounded by dogs and cats since birth and have spent my whole life building a deep understanding of animal behavior and care. Growing up, my family raised two litters of puppies, giving me hands-on experience with everything from newborn care to socialization and training throughout various life stages. I currently share my home with three dogs of my own and I regularly care for friends' cats and dogs, both in my home and theirs. I'm comfortable with dogs of all sizes, from small lap dogs to large breeds, and know that each comes with its own personality, energy level, and needs. People tell me I'm not just a dog person but also someone dogs are drawn to. Cats have been a constant in my life just as long as dogs have. I know how to read their cues, respect their space, and earn their trust on their own terms. I genuinely love every stage of a pet's life and know how to meet each animal where they are, whether that's an energetic puppy, a curious cat, or a laid-back senior. I’ve worked in human crisis intervention for over 6 years, which means I stay calm under pressure and know how to respond quickly and clearly when something unexpected happens. That same steady, caring approach is what I bring to every pet I look after. I do Rover to supplement my nonprofit career, so when I take on your pet it's because I genuinely want to be here, not because I have to be. Your pet won't just be cared for, they'll feel right at home! I work from home on a flexible schedule that I primarily set myself, which means I'm present with your pet throughout the day rather than leaving them alone for long stretches. We have a fenced yard for outdoor time and can separate pets as needed, so your animal has a safe, comfortable space even with my own dogs in the home. My partner, Jen, is also available to support with pet care and walks if you are comfortable with Jen stepping in at times. Between both of our schedules, we can better accommodate recurring clients who need weekly care! There are photos of Jen at the end of my photo section. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priority. I treat every pet like they're my own. My home is pet-proofed with a fenced yard, and I can separate animals as needed so everyone has their own safe space alongside my own dogs. I always want to know your pet's routine, quirks, and preferences ahead of time so I can keep things as normal and comfortable as possible for them. With a lifetime of experience with dogs and cats of all ages and sizes, I'm confident handling whatever comes up, and my crisis intervention background means I stay calm and act fast if an emergency arises.

“I booked Shanice on very short notice so there was no chance for a meet and greet with my puppy Nico. I took a chance on her based her previous reviews. Nico was at her doggy daycare for 2 days. She is super sweet and friendly. Most of all she adored my puppy. He had a good time with her and her fur baby. She sent me updates on Nico with pictures of his day. Nico was happy when he was dropped off and happy when I picked him up. That is always a good sign. I will definitely book Shanice again!”

“Kushram and Family are a wonderful find for dog sitting or doggy day care. Give the initial booking request a bit of lead time, as the confirmation that the day/time works may take up to a day to come through. This time I put in a request 9:30pm on a Saturday, and got confirmation Sunday evening. (I suspect requests are processed daily). The initial booking request was the largest gap we experienced in communication, scheduling the meet and greet by messages was easy - they were very responsive and want to ensure you and your pup will be comfortable with their set up and go over any special needs of the dog. Our elder pup Rick was drawn to Kushram and the whole family even on the meet and greet (I think just his wife and adult nephew), as well the drop off day of, and they were able to make him comfortable enough to eat even on a short visit. Given our short booking (only about 3 hrs) we can't really comment on long term pictures/communication during the visit, but I can say I feel pretty happy that I found some place local where I feel comfortable leaving my dog when I need to go somewhere. They also have some experience with some dog special needs, but can help best when they know about it ahead of time. They were not concerned or put off in the slightest by our pups needs (mostly that he's pretty clingy, can get cold easily, and only has 3 teeth and will only eat small pieces of food, and doesn't love hanging out with other dogs), and described other dogs they had watched with similar or more challenging needs such as dog-sitting a blind dog in a new space. About: I've taken care of many dogs from chihuahua's, poodle mixes, corgi's and pointers. I have the most experience with small dogs but would love to take care of your large pups too! I have experience caring for and feeding medication to senior dogs from Muttville in San Francisco and lived and cared for a very anxious corgi for two years so have a lot of experience navigating and understanding when a dog needs space. I cannot wait to meet your pup! I'm starting grad school in late august so have plenty of time to play with your pups! I'm available weekdays and weekends for now and will update my schedule once school is back in session. I have a small fenced in yard if the pup needs a quiet enclosed area to play in. I have experience crating anxious corgis and giving medication and am willing to follow any rules you have to ensure good training and safety for your dog. Ultimately, I just want you and your pet to be comfortable!

“Jessica is a natural with dogs! She is very thoughtful and detail oriented. I have 2 seniors with special health needs and she is very attentive and reliable. My dogs are anxious with changes to their routine but after a few days with Jessica they were happy to rush into her place when I dropped off, and tried to follow her back to her place instead of getting in the car to leave after pick up. I definitely recommend Jessica!”

About: I've assisted a vet with labors along with working at a dog resort with puppies and seniors including the proper care, naps, play times, etc. I am available any day of the week including weekends or holidays during the school year.
