“Hannah was wonderful! She came for a meet and greet to meet our dogs in advance and then sent pictures and took great care of our pups while we were out of town. We have a rescue who is anxious and takes medication, and Hannah handled her needs patiently. We will definitely have Hannah come back!”

“Nicole was absolutely amazing! She was so detailed and thoughtful in her communication with us, and I felt so comforted knowing that she was looking after our pups. She also helped us out when we had a last minute travel delay & came to check on our dogs on short notice. Truly the best! Will definitely be rebooking!”

“Michelle was an absolute pleasure to have watch my animals. She made a point to take extra care, and spend ample time with my dog Bowser and cat Jynx. She took pictures of my pets, to keep our minds at ease, so we never had to worry. I will definitely be calling her again when needed!!”

“Ellie has watched my dog for several weekends in the last year. I have never felt more safe having someone watch my dog than I have with her. Ellie is very professional and goes above and beyond to make sure both the human and the dog are comfortable. She has been absolutely amazing and I could not recommend her any more!!!”

About: I have been raising dogs with my family since middle school, starting with an Alaskan Malamute puppy that was only 30 days old when we first brought her home. I grew up alongside her and gradually took on full responsibility for her daily care. This experience helped me develop patience, attentiveness, a strong sense of responsibility, and a deep emotional bond with dogs. Now, after more than ten years of experience living with dogs, I treat every dog with the same care and affection as my own. Dogs tend to respond positively to me, and I genuinely enjoy building trust and companionship with them. Caring for dogs is not just something I do—it is something I am truly passionate about and committed to. At the moment, I primarily work remotely, and I spend most of my time with my wife. This allows me to have a flexible schedule and plenty of availability. I am able to provide pet care services at any time throughout the week, and I approach each task with full energy, attention, and genuine enthusiasm. I prioritize safety, comfort, and trust when caring for every pet. During walks and outdoor activities, I carefully monitor the surrounding environment, making sure the area is safe and watching for any harmful objects or food that could pose a risk to the pet. I also pay close attention to interactions with unfamiliar dogs and other animals, ensuring that the experience remains positive and stress-free. I carefully observe each pet’s behavior, energy level, and overall condition, including monitoring their bathroom habits as an indicator of their health. I adjust exercise intensity based on the pet’s needs and make sure they cool down properly after more active play or walks. After high-energy activities, I provide water gradually and safely rather than allowing them to drink too quickly. I also provide detailed grooming care, including gentle brushing and checking for ticks or other concerns. If necessary, I will carefully remove ticks and make sure the pet remains comfortable. Beyond basic care, I enjoy spending time with pets through play, affection, and companionship. I treat every dog with the same patience, attention, and love that I would give to my own pet.
“Christine always does a fantastic job watching my home and our dog, Duke, while we are away. She takes great care of the pup, provides updates, and leaves the house nice and clean. We always have peace of mind knowing Christine is staying with Duke while we are away.”

“Sarah was amazing. So intuitive with our nervous dog, who was immediately comfortable with her. Reliable, responsive, kind, caring and very clean. We feel so grateful to have found her! Thank you for taking such good care of our pup.”

“I can’t say enough good stuff about Sophie! She took care of our two cats while we were out of town for our wedding. It was our first time leaving one of the cats home alone, so we were a little nervous. Sophie kept us updated and gave us much needed peace of mind. Our two cats are still getting to know each other so have to be kept separate, and one of them has a minor health condition that we needed to keep an eye on. Despite these challenging circumstances (and an unexpected power outage), Sophie took incredible care of our girls. She was patient, thoughtful and communicative, which we so appreciated during our busy wedding weekend. We came home to a clean home and happy cats. We couldn’t be more grateful to have found Sophie and would absolutely hire her again in a heartbeat.”

“Julia helped us out last minute when we couldn't find anyone to stay with our dogs overnight. She was great! She communicated with us and took good care of our 2 goldendoodles. Would definitely hire her again!”

“Jayla accommodated our last minute request. Great communication throughout the days we were away and lots of fun pictures for our peace of mind. We will be looking to book with Jayla again in the future!”

“Heather was nothing short of fantastic - extremely conscientious and caring with our sweet senior citizen. She stayed at our house with our girl and everything turned out perfect. Would absolutely recommend her and hire her again!”

“Mackenzi did a wonderful job with our two dogs. She was a thoughtful dog and house sitter! Everything was cleaned up and the pups were well cared for! Hope to have her back again!”

“Bri was amazing with our senior dog who was confused and grouchy. Our dog had not been away from us in over a year and was quite upset, but Bri handled it with professionalism and grace! Thank you Bri!”

“JL and Daina were super great with our dog, Otis! He was chill and easy to work with for scheduling, very quick to respond to messages. He sent adorable pics for us while we were gone :) We will definitely be booking him again next time we go out of town and can’t bring our sidekick along!”

“Cailey was super communicative, followed instructions carefully, and asked thoughtful questions when needed. She provided great updates throughout, and my dog seemed genuinely happy in her care. Overall, she was a wonderful sitter, and I would absolutely book her again.”

“It's always hard to leave the old boy, but Marie was outstanding and kept Bentley safe and warm as well as providing a constant presence. Marie is a neat and conscientious house guest and I would not hesitate to ask her back again.”
“Julia watched our 6 month golden retriever in our home for four days. I was never worried about our dog in her care! She has very open communication and sent us updates each day. I highly recommend her to watch your pet!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Providence
Sarah recently stayed with our 13 year old pup for the first time, and it was a great experience. She was very communicative, sent photos, and put my anxiety at ease that our gal was happy and well taken care of. I hope Sarah is able to stay with her again in the future!

Maryann was such a lifesaver for us! We had a special event to go to out of town, but by golly there are Rover sitters everywhere, including Providence, RI. Maryann hung out with our little Bonny (a 5-lb. snuggly little chihuahua) in our hotel room, and was a calm, warm presence. Very professional in wanting to know about Bonny, what she liked/didn't like, special instructions, etc. She came highly recommended and we now happily join that chorus of satisfied customers. Thank you, Maryann!

My two dogs were very well cared for while I was away and relaxed & happy when I returned home. Mackenzie did a great job balancing the needs of my attention hogging 100+ lb boy and his diminutive, sweet senior sister. It was a relief to know they were in good hands while I was away and a delight to find my house in order upon my return . Thanks Mackenzie!

Hannah was wonderful! She came for a meet and greet to meet our dogs in advance and then sent pictures and took great care of our pups while we were out of town. We have a rescue who is anxious and takes medication, and Hannah handled her needs patiently. We will definitely have Hannah come back!

Nicole was absolutely amazing! She was so detailed and thoughtful in her communication with us, and I felt so comforted knowing that she was looking after our pups. She also helped us out when we had a last minute travel delay & came to check on our dogs on short notice. Truly the best! Will definitely be rebooking!

Christine stayed with our cats as the first sitter we haven’t known personally, and I had pre-warned her that one of our cats is pretty shy and anxious. He turned out to be even moreso than we anticipated and hid the whole weekend—she did a great job working out a way to feed him while distracting our other much more confident, VERY food motivated cat. Would definitely book with her again!

Ciara was amazing. Lots pf pictures. Lots of feedback about walking, eating, medication, and pooping. (I have a minidoxie with back and digestion issues.) she even let him cuddle on sofa with her, like he is used to! My house was spotless and the bed was stripped. Best was that there were no surprises following my return, which is always the true test! Ciara will be my first call next time I need a sitter!
Cailey took great care of our large complicated dog, Teo. She was quick to respond when our original sitter cancelled on us and was communicative throughout her stay. She did overnight house sitting for 12 nights and Teo seemed liked he missed us, but was totally fine when we got back.
We’re so happy to have found Noah. We have two older cats that are more like dogs in terms of their need for humans and a blind kitten who’s never been left for any extended time. We met with Noah and he helped us to determine the right timing/visits. He gave us daily updates, pics, and videos showing how clearly happy our babies were with their caregiver. That made it so much easier to enjoy our trip, gone was any anxiety about them being alone for a long weekend. There’s no doubt we’ll be booking Noah for future trips.

Emily was a great sitter for our dog! We have quite an anxious dog and Emily was kind enough to provide courtesy visits before we left. She was very patient and understanding with our dog, and we felt much more comfortable leaving her under such good care. Her communication was great and she provided daily updates. Would definitely rebook with Emily again!

Carse is AMAZING!! I received daily updates with multiple pictures of my girls. She was wonderful with them, even my spicy girl who is disgruntled when I'm not home. The entire time I was gone, I felt 100% confident that my girls and home were in good hands. I will definitely be booking Carse again in the future :)

Kat, as always, went above and beyond for our dog and for our family. Our dog had a medical emergency while we were out of the country and Kat went above and beyond in her care for him and we are forever grateful that we entrusted Kat with his care. I can’t recommend Kat highly enough in all aspects.

Sophie did a fantastic job dog and house sitting for about a week. One of my dogs is very cautious and Sophie was extremely patient in earning her trust, especially during a few big thunderstorms and fireworks on consecutive nights. We came home to happy dogs and the house in great condition. I received daily text updates and thoughtful questions to make sure everything was on track for our pack. Will definitely hire again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Providence walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Providence maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Providence choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Providence. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
