“Anders, is incredible. Not only is Anders patient and took the time and patience and grace to deal with my apprehensive dog. They go above and we beyond for your pets so grateful anders tackled two chaotic pups and kitty while consistently communicating with me and sending updates while taking the pups on fun little excursions.”

“Karla watched my pup for a little over a week. I was overseas, so we communicated via WhatsApp. I felt very comfortable. I’m happy my pup was able to stay home and was well taken care off. I got picture updates. I hope to rebook Karla for my future trips.”
“Rayna was an outstanding house sitter, and I recommend her without hesitation. She took wonderful care of our dog and cats, and it was clear they were happy and well looked after while we were away. She kept the house spotless, was incredibly responsive throughout our trip, and sent frequent updates and photos that gave us real peace of mind. Rayna was also friendly, professional, and easy to communicate with from start to finish. We came home to happy pets and a perfectly maintained house. We would absolutely book Rayna again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and trustworthy house sitter.”

“We are visiting the area with our 2 dogs. I’m so happy I found Maya to stayed with them while we went out to dinner. She is very sweet and knows how to handle any dog size and personality. She gain their trust quickly and played a lot with our very active GSP. We will book her again in a couple of days.”

About: I’ve trained three very skittish rescue doggies and purebred pups. I dog sit for friends and family often. I am extremely energetic/Athletic and if your doggie wants to go for a run, I am up for that for sure! Or if they just need some calming snuggle time, I’m your girl! I enjoy getting to know pet’s unique personalities and needs. I grew up around animals my whole life — dogs, house cats, barn cats, and even neighboring farm animals and wildlife. Caring for animals has always come naturally to me. Recently losing my longtime companions, Niko, a tiny chihuahua/corgie mix & rescue with a huge personality, and Copper, a golden with a goofball heart of gold, reminded me how deeply our pets become family. I understand how hard it can be to leave your pet at home while working, traveling, or managing a busy schedule, and I know how important it is to have someone trustworthy caring for them. Whether your pet needs walks, playtime, companionship, patience, or extra attention, I’ll treat them with the same love and care I’d want for my own. I look forward to meeting new furry friends and helping give pet owners peace of mind. I called my doggies my kiddos and will care for yours as such! My days are free and can’t wait to fill them up with more joy, walks, training, runs and snuggles. Obedience, praise and love are my core. My pets are my world, I care for and treat others pets as my own. I will treat your home as mine as well! I’m responsible, reliable and trustworthy. Can’t wait to meet!
“Grace is lovely. She spent approximately 10 days at our home house sitting for our 2 senior Yorkies. She followed their care plan and kept in touch with us daily. We wouldn’t hesitate to use her again. Thanks Grace!”
“Jonathan took fantastic care of both our dog, Winston, and our house! I would highly recommend him as a pet/house sitter. He took Winston on very long walks, sent daily photos and updates, and kept us informed on Winston's well-being during our absence. We knew Winston was well cared for, and therefore we had no concerns while we were away. Jonathan gave us peace of mind that our "baby" was just fine.”

“Sarah was exceptional! She took such good care of our cat Keagan and communicated with us daily, sending pictures of them interacting. She was very responsible and left our home as clean as we left it. She paid attention to details and went above and beyond. We highly recommend Sarah and would hire her again without question.”

“Bri is an exceptional dog/house sitter!! She took great care of our anxious deaf boxer while we relaxed on vacation. She is responsive, responsible and a great communicator. She made it easy to get away and we can’t wait to book her again!”

“Mackenzi did a wonderful job with our two dogs. She was a thoughtful dog and house sitter! Everything was cleaned up and the pups were well cared for! Hope to have her back again!”

“From the moment Julia came for the meet-and-greet with Pickles, our one year old rescue who has some anxiety issues with strangers, she gave us a complete sense confidence. She even had a form to get all the information that she would need to know how best to take care of P. When we were away for five days, Julia obviously created a great, easy relationship with our dog and kept her on a routine that we had established (as she has been with us for fewer than three months). Julia sent regular photos and videos of her and updates on how she was doing. I cannot recommend her enough. When we arrived home, Julia had done the bedding(laundry) and she was packed up. The house was immaculate. Thank. You for her loving care. We will be repeats.”

“Julia was amazing! She was so communicative and we got home to a happy and healthy pup (and a 100% clean apartment!) I could tell she was spending a lot of time with our buddy and really appreciated her attention and support. Would absolutely book again!”

About: I’ve taken care of cats and dogs since I was 10 years old. My first job was working as a cat sitter for my neighbor’s young cat, Monkey. I’ve stayed at neighbors houses to watch their dogs since high school, providing regular walks, enrichment, and love. I’ve worked with puppies as young as 10 weeks and dogs as old as 12 years. I’ve worked with pets with special needs and medication needs. Most importantly, I truly love animals. As my sister’s weenie dog puppy can attest, nothing makes me happier than having an animal curled up on my lap. Even if it means dealing with some scratches or disciplining, being around pets is always worth it! As a student, my schedule is super flexible. I’m happy to take care of pets whenever I can. I love early morning walks, so I’m available as early as 7:30 am. My house requires getting up a few flights of stairs, so large senior pups may struggle. Otherwise, any animals are welcome. I’m happy to stay at other folks’ homes as I know this often makes animals more comfortable. I’m flexible to whatever your house rules are!
“First time using a sitting app service. Emma was absolutely fantastic. She went above & beyond to make our Cooper feel comfortable. Very communicative. Lots of pics & videos to keep us in touch.”

Anders has cared for my Sophie twice now and they will be my first choice next time I need a sitter! They are a fantastic human with a special connection with animals. Sophie just loves them and connected with them immediately and they have so much adventuring together! Anders will always be my first call when I need a sitter as long as they're in the business!

This was our first time ever using a house and cat sitter, and it was also for a 2 week family vacation over the holidays—so we were understandably a bit nervous. Devorah was a joy to work with and put our concerns to rest immediately. She followed our instructions completely, provided excellent communication throughout our trip and offered regular updates with pictures that gave us complete peace of mind. When a snowstorm occurred, Devorah handled it calmly and professionally. We came home to a house that was left beyond expectations and very happy cats. We truly could not have asked for a better first experience and would absolutely recommend Devorah without hesitation.

Evan was great with my anxious pitbull mix who is aggressive with other dogs and cats. He accepted a last-minute booking and was flexible with a meet and greet. He stayed at our place for two nights and took care of my dog while sending regular pictures and updates. I would highly recommend Evan!

Elizabeth was a fantastic sitter for our elderly dog. She was very attentive to his needs and made sure that he was as comfortable as possible during her stay. Elizabeth’s communication was great and she kept up well informed during our trip. We would absolutely ask Elizabeth to care for our dog and home in the future.

Nadine did a great job with our five month old puppy! Our puppy loved her at the meet and greet. I wasn’t home at the time Nadine came to walk Sandy so Nadine sent lots of photos and videos and actively walked our puppy and played with her the whole hour of the visit. Nadine was very professional and went the extra mile for us, even fitting us in last minute, in between other obligations!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Riverside walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Riverside maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Riverside choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Riverside. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
