“Isabel is the best! We felt so confident in Randy’s care while we were away. She was very consistent with sending updates everyday with pictures. Although not her job, we came home and our home was spotless. We appreciate her so much with our anxious baby and she gave updates of how she saw his confidence boost throughout her time with him!”

“Amazing! 2nd time asking Michelle to stay at our home with Sheba. The amount of attention and care that is given is outstanding. The picture updates are so welcomed and appreciated just to see how happy she is!. We know that Sheba is in great hands and we do not have to worry at all. Feeding, medication, pop in energy release visits and most important a cuddle buddy! Can't thank you enough Michelle!”

“Grace was wonderful with my dog and my house while we were away for a few days. She was attentive to pet and house needs, communicative, and extremely easy to work with. We will definitely hire her again!”

“Nicole was absolutely amazing! She was so detailed and thoughtful in her communication with us, and I felt so comforted knowing that she was looking after our pups. She also helped us out when we had a last minute travel delay & came to check on our dogs on short notice. Truly the best! Will definitely be rebooking!”

“Without a doubt, the best pet (and house) sitting experience we have ever had. Xinwei D. (who goes by Garrett) took extra special care of our aging dog, Bernie, while also leaving our home in better condition than we left it. He followed directions to a T, kept in constant communication and sent pictures and updated every day. He will be out first choice in sitters every time. Honestly, we couldn't have taken better care of Bernie ourselves, and being gone for a week knowing someone competent and compassionate was back at home taking care of everything gave us unmatched peace of mind. If he's available, book him for your next drop-in or house sit. You won't be disappointed. Thank you, Garrett!”

“It was our first time having someone stay at our home with our 10 year old Frengle, Lucy. Liana was amazing. Felt very comfortable not only having Lucy taken care of but our home as well. We will definitely use her again!”

“Bri was amazing with our senior dog who was confused and grouchy. Our dog had not been away from us in over a year and was quite upset, but Bri handled it with professionalism and grace! Thank you Bri!”

“Jonathan took fantastic care of both our dog, Winston, and our house! I would highly recommend him as a pet/house sitter. He took Winston on very long walks, sent daily photos and updates, and kept us informed on Winston's well-being during our absence. We knew Winston was well cared for, and therefore we had no concerns while we were away. Jonathan gave us peace of mind that our "baby" was just fine.”

“Emma was amazing. Finn was very happy when we came home. She sent us many pictures and videos of Finn during the week she was here. We are very pleased and will definitely use her again.”

“Mackenzi did a wonderful job with our two dogs. She was a thoughtful dog and house sitter! Everything was cleaned up and the pups were well cared for! Hope to have her back again!”

“Sarah was exceptional! She took such good care of our cat Keagan and communicated with us daily, sending pictures of them interacting. She was very responsible and left our home as clean as we left it. She paid attention to details and went above and beyond. We highly recommend Sarah and would hire her again without question.”

“Heather did an excellent job house-sitting our adult dog Bo who was a traumatized rescue dog that is still leery of strangers. She was always responsible and reliable for the meet and greets leading up to the stay and did an awesome job taking care of Bo, providing updates throughout the stay and responding promptly to any questions. It gave us such peace of mind. We highly recommend her and will definitely be booking her again. ♥️🐾”

“Hannah was wonderful! She came for a meet and greet to meet our dogs in advance and then sent pictures and took great care of our pups while we were out of town. We have a rescue who is anxious and takes medication, and Hannah handled her needs patiently. We will definitely have Hannah come back!”

“Shawn did another wonderful job caring for my 3 dogs overnight. I have an occasional fussy eater that is now on long term meds, which Shawn managed very well. Very respectful of my home. Much appreciated!”

“This was our first time using Rover and Rebecca was absolutely amazing!!! We felt so relieved and relaxed knowing Chara was in such great hands for our entire time away! We would love to leave our boy with her again!!”

About: Hello! I’m Tierney. I’m new to Rover, but I am experienced in pet care. I have worked with furry friends of all sizes, ages, and needs (trust me, I’m a pro at sneakily administering meds with the help of peanut butter)! I’m also excited about ensuring that you feel connected to your pet while you’re away. I have been known to take super cute pictures of pets for text threads. Let’s work together! I am currently working freelance, so I have the freedom to build my own schedule. I have a lot of availability as a result. No matter the time of day, I can be there to care for your furry friend! When pet sitting, I successfully create a safe environment through open communication with my clients. I know prior to working with an animal the exact expectations of the owner.
“Nicola is an angel. One of our dogs is immunocompromised and one is neurotic and antisocial. They're not exactly low-maintenance. We usually have a good friend stay with them when we need to travel--which we try to do as infrequently as possible. When our friend had a last minute family emergency we thought we would need to cancel our trip, but we found Nicola. Before she agreed to stay with our dogs she came over to meet them and we knew she could handle the job. We and our pups are so immensely grateful to have met her! Thank you for taking such attentive and loving care of our beloved little weirdos, Nicola!”

“I can’t say enough good stuff about Sophie! She took care of our two cats while we were out of town for our wedding. It was our first time leaving one of the cats home alone, so we were a little nervous. Sophie kept us updated and gave us much needed peace of mind. Our two cats are still getting to know each other so have to be kept separate, and one of them has a minor health condition that we needed to keep an eye on. Despite these challenging circumstances (and an unexpected power outage), Sophie took incredible care of our girls. She was patient, thoughtful and communicative, which we so appreciated during our busy wedding weekend. We came home to a clean home and happy cats. We couldn’t be more grateful to have found Sophie and would absolutely hire her again in a heartbeat.”

About: I adopted my dog when he was two and trained him to become the calm, well-mannered gentleman he is today. Now a senior, he’s an expert at finding the best spot on the floor and supervising the household from there. Caring for him has taught me the patience, attentiveness, and extra support older dogs need. I’m dependable, observant, and committed to following each pet’s routine so they feel safe, comfortable, and loved. Whether your dog prefers long walks, slow strolls, playtime, or professional-level napping, I’ll treat them like my own. Caring for pets fits naturally into my routine because spending time with animals is genuinely one of the best parts of my day. I plan my schedule carefully so every visit gets the time and attention it deserves... never rushed or squeezed in as an afterthought. I’ll follow your pet’s usual routine, arrive when expected, and keep you updated while you’re away. I know consistency helps pets feel safe, especially when dinner is served three minutes late and they’re considering filing a formal complaint. Safety and trust come first. In a client’s home, I follow instructions closely, respect the space, and keep doors, gates, and leashes secure. I know from my own dog's personality that pets are not always committed to the honor system. I’ll maintain their usual feeding, walking, and playtime routines while giving them the patience and attention they need to feel comfortable. In my home, any introductions to my calm senior dog would be slow and supervised, with separate spaces available for meals and rest. I’ll also provide honest updates so you can relax knowing your pet and home are being treated with genuine care and respect.

Sarah recently stayed with our 13 year old pup for the first time, and it was a great experience. She was very communicative, sent photos, and put my anxiety at ease that our gal was happy and well taken care of. I hope Sarah is able to stay with her again in the future!

Maryann was such a lifesaver for us! We had a special event to go to out of town, but by golly there are Rover sitters everywhere, including Providence, RI. Maryann hung out with our little Bonny (a 5-lb. snuggly little chihuahua) in our hotel room, and was a calm, warm presence. Very professional in wanting to know about Bonny, what she liked/didn't like, special instructions, etc. She came highly recommended and we now happily join that chorus of satisfied customers. Thank you, Maryann!

Hannah was wonderful! She came for a meet and greet to meet our dogs in advance and then sent pictures and took great care of our pups while we were out of town. We have a rescue who is anxious and takes medication, and Hannah handled her needs patiently. We will definitely have Hannah come back!

She also helped us out when we had a last minute travel delay & came to check on our dogs on short notice. Truly the best! Will definitely be rebooking!

Ciara was amazing. Lots pf pictures. Lots of feedback about walking, eating, medication, and pooping. (I have a minidoxie with back and digestion issues.) she even let him cuddle on sofa with her, like he is used to! My house was spotless and the bed was stripped. Best was that there were no surprises following my return, which is always the true test! Ciara will be my first call next time I need a sitter!
Emily was a great sitter for our dog! We have quite an anxious dog and Emily was kind enough to provide courtesy visits before we left. She was very patient and understanding with our dog, and we felt much more comfortable leaving her under such good care. Her communication was great and she provided daily updates. Would definitely rebook with Emily again!

Carse is AMAZING!! I received daily updates with multiple pictures of my girls. She was wonderful with them, even my spicy girl who is disgruntled when I'm not home. The entire time I was gone, I felt 100% confident that my girls and home were in good hands. I will definitely be booking Carse again in the future :)

Kat, as always, went above and beyond for our dog and for our family. Our dog had a medical emergency while we were out of the country and Kat went above and beyond in her care for him and we are forever grateful that we entrusted Kat with his care. I can’t recommend Kat highly enough in all aspects.

Michaela did a wonderful job of dog sitting our puppy for two nights! She administered his oral medications, took him to do activities and kept him regulated during fireworks in the area. She also checked in often and loved our puppy like he was her own. I would highly recommend Michaela for dog sitting/walking if you’re looking for a responsible and experienced person to care for your pet.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 1,943 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across East Providence. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred East Providence walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in East Providence maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in East Providence choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in East Providence. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
