“Jayla was great with my anxious guy! She kindly took the job with a day’s notice 🙏 Thank you Jayla, you’re a lifesaver. Will def hit you up next time he needs care”

“We couldn't be more pleased with Christine and the care she took with our dogs and ferret! We hired her to house sit for us with 2 extremely anxious, large dogs, and a ferret for 3 days and 2 nights. She was caring and attentive with our dogs who were very standoffish and afraid, and took the time to engage our ferret in play so she wasn't spending a lot of time alone in her cage. Christine was communicative, giving daily updates, and was respectful of our pets and our home. We would highly recommend Christine to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring house/pet sitter.”

“Nicole was absolutely amazing! She was so detailed and thoughtful in her communication with us, and I felt so comforted knowing that she was looking after our pups. She also helped us out when we had a last minute travel delay & came to check on our dogs on short notice. Truly the best! Will definitely be rebooking!”

“Mackenzi did a wonderful job with our two dogs. She was a thoughtful dog and house sitter! Everything was cleaned up and the pups were well cared for! Hope to have her back again!”

“Bri was a pleasure to work with and went above and beyond to ensure our Frenchie was well taken care of. We will definitely work with her again in the future!”
“It's always hard to leave the old boy, but Marie was outstanding and kept Bentley safe and warm as well as providing a constant presence. Marie is a neat and conscientious house guest and I would not hesitate to ask her back again.”
“Rayna was great to work with as she took care of our little pup Ollie! She was an amazing communicator, sent regular pictures, took Ollie on good walks and took great care of our house. We would be lucky to work with her again!”

“Absolutely incredible pet sitter! We hadn’t left our shorkie alone overnight for a very long time. Liana stayed for four nights and took amazing care of our dog skippy and our cat boo. Excellent communication with pictures really helped us just to relax and know they were in great hands. We appreciate you so much Liana!! Thank you!”

“Jonathan took fantastic care of both our dog, Winston, and our house! I would highly recommend him as a pet/house sitter. He took Winston on very long walks, sent daily photos and updates, and kept us informed on Winston's well-being during our absence. We knew Winston was well cared for, and therefore we had no concerns while we were away. Jonathan gave us peace of mind that our "baby" was just fine.”

“Sophie was responsive and flexible while our plans fluctuated! She was able to help us out last minute and our shy dobie took to her right away. Thanks Sophie!”

“Julia watched our 6 month golden retriever in our home for four days. I was never worried about our dog in her care! She has very open communication and sent us updates each day. I highly recommend her to watch your pet!”

“Julia helped us out last minute when we couldn't find anyone to stay with our dogs overnight. She was great! She communicated with us and took good care of our 2 goldendoodles. Would definitely hire her again!”

“Sarah did an amazing job taking care of our dogs when we were traveling and working this past week. She gave consistent updates with pictures and we came home to happy dogs.”

“Maya was so wonderful to my precious boy. She was commutative and kept me in the loop with updates and pictures while I was away. Grateful I found a forever sitter. I highly recommend booking with Maya you won’t regret it!”

“We used Ariel’s services for a last minute booking and she was so wonderful with all 4 of our dogs. She was tremendously helpful and we really appreciate her professionalism!”

“Cailey was super communicative, followed instructions carefully, and asked thoughtful questions when needed. She provided great updates throughout, and my dog seemed genuinely happy in her care. Overall, she was a wonderful sitter, and I would absolutely book her again.”

“Without a doubt, the best pet (and house) sitting experience we have ever had. Xinwei D. (who goes by Garrett) took extra special care of our aging dog, Bernie, while also leaving our home in better condition than we left it. He followed directions to a T, kept in constant communication and sent pictures and updated every day. He will be out first choice in sitters every time. Honestly, we couldn't have taken better care of Bernie ourselves, and being gone for a week knowing someone competent and compassionate was back at home taking care of everything gave us unmatched peace of mind. If he's available, book him for your next drop-in or house sit. You won't be disappointed. Thank you, Garrett!”

“Heath was so great! This was my first time using rover, as well as having someone stay in my house with my dog while I was gone. I’ve always left my dog with friends who know him and his quirks so I was super nervous leaving him with someone who didn’t know him well. Heath came to my house to meet us and get details, then when the time came Heath sent me daily updates with photos so I didn’t have to wonder how my dog was doing! Overall it was a super great experience and I’m so happy I chose Heath. I will book again for my next trip and recommend to anyone new/nervous/or just wants a kind animal sitter!”

“Xavier is great! He has stayed over at my place and taken care of my extremely anxious (and aggressive with other animals) Pit Bull mix multiple times now. He always sends pictures and updates. Highly recommend!”

“Savannah did a great job with my initially-anxious adolescent puppy, who started off barking a lot. Savannah was calm and patient with her, and my puppy warmed up to Savannah.”

Rena not only made Kobe feel comfortable in evenings where he was feeling the thunder scaries but she also had some of the best communication I have experienced from a sitter. Throughout all visits, I got updates and she always followed up on my requests. Thanks for taking good care of my sweet bubba!

Sophie did a wonderful first time housesitting to my best friend Oakley, who is certainly a handful! she followed instructions, took care of the home and left him happy and healthy. Thank you so much Sophie for taking care of best friend. looking forward to rebooking with Sophie in the future!
JL was a wonderful sitter for our dog, Barley. He followed our detailed instructions and was caring and considerate of Barley’s needs. He updated us frequently, sent many photos, and left our house very clean. We would recommend him to other pet parents and hope to use him again in the future!

Samantha was attentive, communicative, respectful, patient and friendly. She took care of our 3 dogs who all have very different needs overnight for a week. The daily photos were appreciated and showed that our pups were happy and well cared for. Our home was well maintained and our mail ( lots of it!) was taken in. We will be booking again. Thanks Sam!

My two dogs were very well cared for while I was away and relaxed & happy when I returned home. Mackenzie did a great job balancing the needs of my attention hogging 100+ lb boy and his diminutive, sweet senior sister. It was a relief to know they were in good hands while I was away and a delight to find my house in order upon my return . Thanks Mackenzie!

Anya was fantastic. She is the first sitter willing to take the time to meet our senior dog before our trip (she spent an hour) and showed no fear of her potentially aggressive behavior. Anya was patient and kind. She sent us regular updates while we were away, asked questions to ensure she was doing right by our dog and gave us a complete rundown when we returned. Our dog has a seizure disorder and this did not concern Anya one bit. We are already scheduled for Anya to come back in another month. Because of Anya, we were able to spend valuable time with family that we would not have been able to do otherwise.

Cailey took great care of our large complicated dog, Teo. She was quick to respond when our original sitter cancelled on us and was communicative throughout her stay. She did overnight house sitting for 12 nights and Teo seemed liked he missed us, but was totally fine when we got back.
We’re so happy to have found Noah. We have two older cats that are more like dogs in terms of their need for humans and a blind kitten who’s never been left for any extended time. We met with Noah and he helped us to determine the right timing/visits. He gave us daily updates, pics, and videos showing how clearly happy our babies were with their caregiver. That made it so much easier to enjoy our trip, gone was any anxiety about them being alone for a long weekend. There’s no doubt we’ll be booking Noah for future trips.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred North Providence walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in North Providence maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in North Providence choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
