“It's always hard to leave the old boy, but Marie was outstanding and kept Bentley safe and warm as well as providing a constant presence. Marie is a neat and conscientious house guest and I would not hesitate to ask her back again.”
“Another great job by Carissa caring for Harley while my husband were away for several days. The photos she shares with us are great. We can tell Harley is very happy! We were able to relax knowing Harley was in very good hands! Thanks again Carissa! 😊🐶”

During that time, I was responsible for feeding, potty breaks, walks, playtime, and making sure they felt comfortable and safe while their owner was away. I understand that every pet has a unique personality and routine, and I make it a priority to follow owners' instructions carefully. I am dependable, patient, and committed to providing pets with the attention, care, and affection they deserve. Whether your pet enjoys active playtime or simply needs companionship, I will treat them as if they were my own. Experience Includes: Daily feeding and fresh water Walks and exercise Potty breaks Playtime and companionship Caring for multiple pets at once Following specific schedules and routines Monitoring pets for safety and well-being Providing updates to owners I currently work part-time Saturday through Monday, which gives me plenty of availability during the week to care for your pets. I am available for drop-in visits, walks, feeding, playtime, and companionship throughout the day on weekdays. On workdays, I can stop by before my shift in the morning and again after work in the evening to make sure your pets are well cared for and comfortable. I am committed to following your pet's routine and providing reliable, attentive care so you can have peace of mind while you're away. Your pet's safety and comfort are my top priorities. I always follow the care instructions provided by pet owners, including feeding schedules, exercise routines, medications (if needed), and any special requirements. I take the time to learn each pet's personality and needs so they can feel comfortable and secure while you're away. When caring for pets in a client's home, I respect both the pet's routine and the owner's home. I make sure pets have fresh water, a clean environment, plenty of attention, and appropriate exercise and playtime. I also keep doors and gates secure and monitor pets closely during walks and outdoor time. I understand how important trust is when leaving your pet in someone else's care. I am reliable, attentive, and committed to providing updates and communication so you can have peace of mind knowing your pet is safe, happy, and well cared for.
“Jenni is super responsive, responsible, and excellent with our dog. She did such a great job dogsitting for us. She handled an issue with the neighborhood water system when it came up too! 5 stars!”

About: Hello! My name is Crystal! You’ll love that I am flexible, dependable, trustworthy, and experienced! Cats, dogs, bunnies, fish, plants, homes-I can help with it all! With several years of housesitting, dog sitting, cat sitting, bird sitting, bunny watching, fish care, plant care, pool care, and general home care as well. I welcome the opportunity to help cover your responsibilities while you enjoy your vacation, work trip, or a day away. I have several families who have asked me to look after their pets when they are away, and actually maintain their house keys on my key rings to make it easy for them, as I have repeat customers that enjoy the services that I offer. References available! I look forward to hearing from you soon! I work just 10 minutes from my home so it's easy to hop on the road during lunch break and care for your cat/dog/home etc. I have a semi flexible schedule and I'm able step out if need be for any emergencies. Although I do not have a fenced in yard, we do have a large place in the back to play outside beneath a giant oak tree. I live on a very quiet street with very light and slow traffic making it ideal for morning and evening walks. I try to keep the mood extra serene and always play Alexa‘s pet playlist when your pets are in my care. Additionally, for your peace of mind, you will receive 1 to 2 messages a day with pictures / updates from your pet.
“Anja was great with our two dogs. One of our pups is nervous around new people. Anja was patient and compassionate with her. We felt very comfortable about leaving them with Anja. We knew they were in capable hands.”

“Grace was wonderful with our sweet shy cat Burton. He always hides from new people and we were nervous about leaving him for a vacation. Grace put us and Burton at ease! He warmed up to her quickly, and she kept us well informed about how he was doing so we could rest easy knowing he and our home were in good hands. We will definitely book Grace again.”

“Cailey was super communicative, followed instructions carefully, and asked thoughtful questions when needed. She provided great updates throughout, and my dog seemed genuinely happy in her care. Overall, she was a wonderful sitter, and I would absolutely book her again.”

“Jonathan took fantastic care of both our dog, Winston, and our house! I would highly recommend him as a pet/house sitter. He took Winston on very long walks, sent daily photos and updates, and kept us informed on Winston's well-being during our absence. We knew Winston was well cared for, and therefore we had no concerns while we were away. Jonathan gave us peace of mind that our "baby" was just fine.”

About: I have taken care of dogs since I was 5. I currently have two dogs one 8 and one 7 at my parents home where I currently live. My brother and sister in law also have two dogs 2 and 1 years old. When my parents and them travel, I am in charge of the 4 of them at my house and we are all on a routine where everything is under control and still having fun. When needed, I do go to my brothers to take them for a walk and play with them to break up their day of being in the house. I am currently part time worker, so I have more free time during the week and figured I could use my time to help out dog lovers like yourself! For dog walking, I will follow your instructions carefully to make sure your pet and yourself are satisfied with my job. I will be safe but fun at the same time making sure your pets are cared for properly.
“Sarah was amazing. So intuitive with our nervous dog, who was immediately comfortable with her. Reliable, responsive, kind, caring and very clean. We feel so grateful to have found her! Thank you for taking such good care of our pup.”

“This was our first time using Rover and Rebecca was absolutely amazing!!! We felt so relieved and relaxed knowing Chara was in such great hands for our entire time away! We would love to leave our boy with her again!!”

“I have no words for how grateful I am to have connected with Holly on Rover! My babies were so well taken care of, got so much attention, and I was confident they were in the BEST hands. My pups are pretty well behaved, but having 3 dogs (60-70 lb each) between the ages of 1-2, they have a lot of puppy energy and mischievous moments! Holly is a pro and it was such a relief that I had a trusted sitter who understands how important our fur babies are. Thank you Holly…we will definitely see you again!!!”

“Maya was fantastic with our VERY energetic large puppy and kitties. We appreciated receiving photos, questions and updates along the way. We felt confident our pets and home were in good hands which allowed us to enjoy extended time away. We returned home to a clean house and happy healthy pets! I highly recommend Maya and will certainly rebook in the future.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Greenville
Marie house sit for us and watched our frenchie Paris for two full weeks while we traveled. Marie went above and beyond, keeping in-touch with our vet to sort a health issue and caring for Paris as if she were her own. There are SO many good things that I could say about Marie as a pet sitter — what stood out the most for us was that we had total peace of mind with our beloved fur baby while traveling internationally. Highly recommend Marie!!

Marie is absolutely phenomenal!! She gave us such peace of mind while we were out of the country for 8 days for our wedding. I did not have to worry once! Marie kept constant communication, sent photos and gave us updates throughout. She made sure to do everything for our babies so it was as is we hadn’t even left. And my 2 kitties fell in love with her! I have 1 kitty that is very scared of a lot of things and Marie was able to get her comfortable so much so to cuddle with her! Thank you so very much Marie! You are the very best and we absolutely love you!!!❤️❤️❤️

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Greenville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Greenville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Greenville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 92% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
