“Lillian is the BEST. So sweet and our dog Beans immediately warmed up to her. She was very responsive, gave plenty of updates, and was able to accommodate us really last minute. Felt so relaxed leaving our pup with her and would definitely hire her again”

“Stephanie was brilliant. She was so trustworthy and caring towards our 3 dogs. One is very sensitive and it was not an easy job. Our dogs were sleeping with her, even though I’d never have expected it. The dogs prefer it. She was so tolerant and diligent. She also communicated with me the entire time. She is fantastic and I give her the highest recommendation.”

“Anna took wonderful care of our puppy Semmie while we were away. She was clearly attentive and gentle with her. Semmie was happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for the whole time. Anna also communicated really well throughout, and she even took the initiative to come by beforehand to meet Semmie and get to know her before the sit started, which gave us so much peace of mind. It’s obvious Anna genuinely loves dogs and treats them like her own. We felt completely at ease knowing Semmie was in such good hands, and we’ll definitely be booking Anna again for future pet sitting!”

“Emily was great house sitting my cat! She is very easy to work with, communicative, respectful, and sent me updates! Thank you so much for your help Emily. Will definitely be asking her to sit again!”

“Belen is a phenomenal pet sitter! She watched Bocce for a week+ while I was visiting family in California. Because Bocce has epilepsy, finding the right care is crucial, and she handled his strict medication schedule flawlessly. Belen exceeded all expectations. She was diligent, communicative, and incredibly caring. I could actually enjoy my trip knowing Bocce was in safe hands. Thank you, Belen!”

“Caitlin was so great with our super shy kitties! She was very communicative and very respectful of our space while staying over. Our kitties are super shy and nervous and she was very patient with them and we could tell they started to feel comfortable around her quickly! We’ll definitely be using her again 😺”

“Jia was amazing! She was so good with our stubborn 11 year old dog, really taking the time to meet her during a meet and greet and winning her over during the first few days of house sitting. We were grateful for some quick problem solving on her part when we ran into a snag on our first travel day, and it felt so good to know that our dog was in such good hands!”

About: I’ve been a dog lover my whole life, growing up with all kinds of dogs, from bulldogs to german shepherds. I’m good with high and low energy dogs of all sizes, supplying pets, walks, and treats to make your pups forget how much they miss you! I’m especially experienced with senior dogs and the extra care they require, especially those with limited mobility. Because I work from home your pups will rarely be alone, which helps me stay on top of potty breaks, playtime, and any other needs your pets have! Because I work from home, I am able to take close care of your furry friends. I do like to go to the gym in the morning for about an hour, but am usually in one spot for the rest of the day so your pets won’t be alone and can have all their needs met. I’m happy to take breaks to walk/play. I am very respectful and comfortable in new environments and am happy to work with you and your pet’s needs. I’ve mostly pet-sat in other peoples homes in my hometown, so I am very used to following the guidelines you are comfortable with. I am easily reachable and responsive, and like to send check in photos at your convenience!
“Erin did an amazing job taking care of our guy. She was great at communicating when she’d given his medication and sent tons of photos. Not only that, he warmed up to her immediately and clearly loved her company. She so far exceeded our expectations - anyone (or cat) would be lucky to work with Erin!”

“Maisel is a fantastic sitter. My pup Charlie has a lot of anxiety and I am always nervous leaving him with someone new. Every picture I got Charlie was smiling - Maisel was great at communicating with me and gave me peace of mind that Charlie was well taken care of. She was extremely respectful of my home and left it spotless. I am so grateful she was able to help and will definitely be asking her to dog sit again!”

“First time leaving our pup with someone who he doesn't know very well but it was a great experience! He even cried a little when Anastasia was leaving, will definitely rebook in the future. Thank you for fantastic service!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Boston
Bethany was great! She house sat for us and our two Boston terriers, sent lots of pictures, and took great care of them and the house. All pet parents know how stressful it is to leave your furbabies behind and it was such a relief knowing they’re in good hands.

Anna did a fantastic job watching our two dogs! It was not an easy job with two dogs with different needs, one dog struggling with a skin infection and on new medication and both having just moved to the area. Anna gave us regular updates, followed all of our instruction/preferences, and made us feel at ease while we were out of town. We have already booked her for another stay and are thrilled to have found a sitter we can trust!

Willow was wonderful!!! I needed to find someone last minute due to a death in the family, and Willow came through big time! She made the time to come to my apartment before I left to meet me and my pup and even took her for a walk the same week, just to make sure my dog knew who she was and she could familiarize herself with my dog and my home. She was a clear, effective, and wonderful communicator and companion to my dog when I was out of town, and I swear she left my apartment cleaner than when she arrived! I can’t wait to have Willow back to help with my dog, and I would highly recommend her to help out with any other pets!

Triin was the perfect sitter! She was able to ensure all of Clancy’s needs were met while we were away from our puppy for the first time. Triin’s attention to detail and ability to provide the appropriate training, play and care for Clancy made us feel relieved and comfortable to leave Clancy with her. Thank you, Triin! Would recommend her to anyone!

Sean gave Gilly tons of attention and took excellent care of her while we were away, including giving her medication and accommodating her weird schedule. He sent photos and updates throughout the day so I always felt in the loop. We would be thrilled to have him watch Gilly again in the future.

Brianna is the BEST! She treated my senior pups with so much love and care, delivering their multiple medications with skill and making sure they were comfortable in my absence. She communicated with me regularly, sending great pictures. In the pictures of their snuggles, I could see how happy my dogs were with her. I definitely plan to work with Brianna again!
Chandler did a great job taking care of our house and our 12y/o Boxer, Luna. She was on top of Luna's food, meds, and walks, sent daily pictures of her so we'd know everything was okay, and was respectful of our home while staying there. We would highly recommend her to friends and others as a house or dog sitter. Plus, her band rocks!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Boston on Rover is $61.05 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 6,444 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Boston. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Boston walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Boston maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Boston choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Boston. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
