“Ainsley was so great watching our 1 year old cat over the weekend! Very communicative, friendly and sent plenty of pictures and updates. We would absolutely book with Ainsley again. Thank you!”

“Exception! Kristina is great with our pup. Very proactive in keeping us updated. It’s clear that she has a special bond with dogs. We would highly recommend her.”

“Bethany was so awesome staying at my apartment with my anxious pup while I was away! I got a lot of photo/text updates and it was clear that Frankie was happy and healthy and comfortable with Bethany. My apartment was well taken care of when I got back as well. I will be using Bethany in the future for Frankie’s needs!”

“Maddy was so amazing! She sent multiple updates a day with pictures, and our kitten was clearly incredibly well taken care of and happy. She left our place clean and just like we left it. We’d absolutely book with her again. Thank you again :)”

“What an amazing sitter! Took great care of my cat for multiple weeks, and put up with all of her behavioral quirks and sent me tons of photos and updates as well. I felt completely at ease and would absolutely book again. Thank you!”

“Anastasia was amazing with my 13-year-old labradoodle. Great communication and the best pics. So nice to have this confidence when I have to leave, knowing my dog is taken care of.”

“Belen took such good care of Pedrito! We've had two sitters move out of the area, and I'm so glad it was easy to find Belen who was clear, communicative, and has experience with small, reactive dogs like mine. Belen's calm demeanor is just what my dog needs. She gave him the space and opportunity to approach her when he was ready when they first met, which made a huge difference. He warmed up to her pretty quickly because of that patience. I would definitely recommend booking with Belen. She housesat, which I appreciated because that's the most comfortable for my dog. She sent lots of update pictures and videos while I was away. Can't say enough great things, thanks Belen! I'll definitely be booking with you again for Pedrito!”

“Natalia was amazing as always. Took fabulous care of our boy, even with his special needs, and left the house cleaner than we found it. Can’t wait to work with her again! Sly already misses her.”

“I had a phenomenal experience leveraging Stacy for house and pet sitting. I knew from our first meet and greet she would be wonderful and she was! Stacy was thorough, patient, kind and organized. I look forward to using her services again.”

“Ailise was such a reliable pet and house sitter for our many pets! She kept us updated with photos and we felt confident our pets were in good hands! Will definitely hire her again in the future!”
“Jordan was amazing with Frankie!! She sent lots of updates and it’s clear Frankie had a really fun time with her. She went out of her way to meet him beforehand and was very responsive. We will absolutely have Jordan back- we trust her with him anytime!!”

“My girls had a great time hanging out with Jennie. Knowing they were well taken care made my travel mush less stressful. I will definitely be reaching out to Jennie for any future house sitting needs!”

“Levi was AMAZING! We were so lucky she had availability when we booked last minute. She is very knowledgeable when it comes to dogs and their behaviors while being very patient and understanding with our nervous rescue. She sent many pictures to keep us at ease while we were away and left the house cleaner than when we left! Chanel typically doesn’t clique with new people but she was so happy with Levi, we are so appreciative!”

“Sevtap was an absolutely phenomenal house sitter while I was away for the weekend! She followed the care instructions for my puppy to the letter, gave frequent updates, and made sure my home was spotless before she left. It was so relieving to come home to a happy, healthy puppy and an incredibly tidy home. I would highly, highly recommend her services!!”

“Arik responded quickly to the booking request. We were able to chat on the phone prior to him taking care of my cat Smokey. Arik did a good job sharing daily updates with me, sharing any concerns/habits, and asked questions when needed. I am grateful Smokey was in good hands while I was away. Thank you!”

“Lauren did a great job taking care of my two cats, including daily medical care (eye drops) for one of them. They are normally skittish around new people, but warmed up to her quickly”

She was great as a sitter and made me feel very comfortable leaving my 4 year old Lab. I came home to a happy and healthy pup and a clean apartment! She even took my dog on fun trips to the Boston Commons and sent pics and videos of their outings. Would highly recommend =)

Juliet took absolutely wonderful care of Stanley while I was away. As a first-time dog owner leaving my dog with someone else, I was a little nervous at first, but she immediately put me at ease. She is incredibly communicative, kind, and genuinely cares about the dogs she looks after. Stanley was so well cared for, and I could tell he was happy and comfortable with her. Juliet is efficient, gentle, reliable, and truly a gem. I wouldn’t hesitate to trust her again, and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for exceptional care for their dog. Thank you so much, Juliet!

Devon was wonderful!! We met in advance for her to meet my dog and Luna loved her instantly. She sent me pictures every day of the fun adventures they were on or of them just snuggling on the couch. She stayed at my home with Luna and everything was left clean and organized when I returned. I didn’t have to worry about Luna at all while I was on vacation. Thanks, Devon! Would definitely recommend and use again.

Juliana was great! She stayed at our house with our two dogs while we were out of the country for 10 days. She kept us updated and sent photos and videos which was very much appreciated. We could tell she spent a lot of quality time with our dogs, one of which suffers from separation anxiety. When we got home our house was in great shape and the pups were exhausted and happy!

Kristina did a great job housesitting and taking care of my senior dog. She gave me real peace of mind. My dog can be both timid and stubborn and Kristina had a lot of patience with her. Within a few hours my dog was trusting of her which was a great sign. Kristina went above and beyond caring for my dog including the precautions we take with her mobility issues. Kristina provided tons of timely communication with texts and photos. She left my home clean. I’d recommend Kristina to anyone who’s nervous about leaving their dog with a sitter.

Emmy was wonderful with our pup! She took her out to the local parks several times, brought over fun dog treats, and was really communicative with everything - even when our dog got a little dirty - she gave her a bath! Would book Emmy again without a doubt!

Itzli did amazing with my golden retriever! She is so kind and communicative - sent several updates and photos, and managed his high energy so well. This gave me such peace of mind as I was out of town. It was an overnight stay and couldn’t even tell she was here - everything so tidy and neat! Highly recommend Itzli to care for your pup!

Natalia was absolutely wonderful with Rosie, I could tell from the moment she met Rosie that she’ll be in great hands. Natalia house sitted Rosie at my apartment while I was traveling and left the place clean and tidy. She was very communicative, sent regular updates (photos and video) and made sure Rosie gets her regular walks and exercises. I will definitely book her again and can highly recommend her. She was thoughtful, very caring for Rosie and a great communicator. Rosie already misses her :)

Madeleine was absolutely wonderful with Astro and Jasper! I highly recommend her. We consider our doggies to be part of our family and wanted them to be well cared for while we attended a dinner. Madeleine responded promptly to my request, was very attentive to care instructions and was so willing to help us even with it being a Saturday night. She greeted our furry friends with a smile, took excellent them and sent us pictures throughout the night. If you need care for your dogs, do not search for a sitter. Contact Maddy immediately. She is the best!
Arik did an amazing job taking care of our high energy GSP while we were away. He made sure he was entertained, exercised, and loved, which made us feel so much better being away from our dog. Our house was in perfect condition when we got home. Thank you Arik!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred South Boston walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in South Boston maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in South Boston choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
