She is very knowledgeable when it comes to dogs and their behaviors while being very patient and understanding with our nervous rescue. She sent many pictures to keep us at ease while we were away and left the house cleaner than when we left! Chanel typically doesn’t clique with new people but she was so happy with Levi, we are so appreciative!”

About: I took care of three cats growing up, two that required injections and one that required medication with varying diets and needs. I also have a loving beagle to add to my experience, as well as a kitten. In college, I dogsat for a professor with a 12-year-old poodle that required medication and frequent check-ins. I've owned and taken care of a variety of pets, all ages and genders, and am confident that my experience will allow me to give your pet the care they deserve! I am currently unemployed and can pop over to take your dog for a quick walk, or even just check in throughout the day, any day of the week. I can also housesit as needed, given my flexibility. Given my building restrictions, I will not house your pets. However, I can visit your home as needed to make sure your pets are loved and cared for just as much as my own.
“Danielle is amazing! She’s super reliable, communicative, and always keeps us updated with plenty of photos. Theo is always so happy with her, and we come home to a very happy pup every time! It gives us so much peace of mind knowing he’s in great hands. We’ve had such a great experience with Danielle and will definitely continue using her. Highly recommend!”

About: I’m a lifelong animal lover with experience caring for cats and dogs. I’m a cat mom since 2017, volunteer at a local cat shelter, and enjoy spending time with animals of all personalities and energy levels. Whether it’s a walk, playtime, feeding, or simply keeping your pet company. I have a very flexible schedule, which allows me to be available for your pet’s needs throughout the day. I’m happy to accommodate different routines and schedules, and I’m also available for evening, nighttime, and weekend care. I’ll work with you to make sure your pet gets the attention and care they need! I live in a spacious apartment with plenty of room for pets to feel comfortable. I also have a separate room available for shy or nervous cats who may need a quiet space to settle in. When visiting your home, I’m always careful when opening doors and entering or leaving to help prevent curious cats or dogs from accidentally getting out.
“We had a wonderful experience with Sabrina. She took great care of our dogs while we were away for the week and sent daily updates with photos, which gave us so much peace of mind. It was clear our pups were happy, well cared for, and loved while we were gone. We would absolutely book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring sitter!”
“Anna took wonderful care of our puppy Semmie while we were away. She was clearly attentive and gentle with her. Semmie was happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for the whole time. Anna also communicated really well throughout, and she even took the initiative to come by beforehand to meet Semmie and get to know her before the sit started, which gave us so much peace of mind. It’s obvious Anna genuinely loves dogs and treats them like her own. We felt completely at ease knowing Semmie was in such good hands, and we’ll definitely be booking Anna again for future pet sitting!”

“Amy was great cat sitting for our precious kitty! She sent lots of cute updates, which we appreciated so much and did a wonderful job medicating Savannah for the first time. We came home to a happy cat and a clean home. We are looking forward to booking with Amy again for all our cat sitting needs!”
“Chandler was wonderful with our two boys, Bruce and Barry, while we were abroad for a week. She was attentive and communicative the whole time, sending daily photo updates that gave us total peace of mind. Our boys are couch potatoes and she spent quality time with them, which is exactly what we wanted. She also left our place nice and tidy. We’d absolutely book her again and highly recommend!”

“Belkis has stayed with our pup several times and is always fantastic! Our pup loves being with her and she communicates with us daily so we get to see snap shots of their day. Thank you Belkis!”

About: I have grown up with a forever love of taking care of my families, friends and neighbors dogs. I have always enjoyed always being able to interact with them and spend my time around them. I am currently a graduate student working a part-time internship during the week but around that schedule I have plenty of time to watch your fur babies at your convenience. I love being able to get out and about to care for pups whether this be going on walks, playing or just hanging out! I am currently living in an apartment in Boston even though it is super tight in here I am more than willing to take your pups for a nice long walk or go to play in the park. Luckily I live right down the road from a dog park!
“Natalia is efficient, organized, communicative, friendly, thoughtful…the list goes on! It is so reassuring to know my dog is in her care. Laura was absolutely incredible and took great care of our dog and 2 cats. She was very communicative and responsive, and sent us daily check ins and pictures. Our animals looked so comfortable with her, which made us feel much better leaving them. She was also so respectful and clean in our home. Laura is an exceptionally caring pet sitter and took great care of our animals, I highly, highly recommend her to anyone!

Vika was our first dogsitter on Rover and she was great. My dog has pretty bad separation anxiety and Vika helped him through it. When we came home, our dog was happy and healthy. Normally, if I go out of town for a couple of days, he gets stressed out after I get back, too. Not this time. He behaving like he normally does. I would definitely ask Vika back again.

Chandler was wonderful with our two boys, Bruce and Barry, while we were abroad for a week. She was attentive and communicative the whole time, sending daily photo updates that gave us total peace of mind. Our boys are couch potatoes and she spent quality time with them, which is exactly what we wanted. She also left our place nice and tidy. We’d absolutely book her again and highly recommend!

Emily was such a dedicated and attentive sitter— I highly recommend her! She took amazing care of my dog, Palmer, and sent photos every day. She took her on long walks and provided her with enrichment activities and cuddles for all 5 days that she was with her.

George had a very recent incident swallowing a toy and was on watch for aspiration pneumonia. When he got sick and the vet recommended he come back in, Gabrielle took great care of him and kept me posted on his status. It is such a relief to know I can leave my babies in such good hands!

My wife and I came to Boston from Worcester because our son was having surgery at Boston Medical Center. The surgery required three days of recovery at the hospital. At the last minute our dog sitter in Worcester had an emergency and couldn't help us, so we had to bring the dog with us to the hotel which was dog friendly. Thank God we were able to contact Masiel at the last minute and she was able to hang out with our dog at the hotel, take the dog for walks and potty breaks, while we attended to our son at the hospital across the street. She is very cooperative, professional and flexible. Our dog, Isabella, was so happy to spend time with Masiel, so I guess our dog also made a good friend in Boston! I highly recommend Masiel.

Bethany was great! She house sat for us and our two Boston terriers, sent lots of pictures, and took great care of them and the house. All pet parents know how stressful it is to leave your furbabies behind and it was such a relief knowing they’re in good hands.

Anna did a fantastic job watching our two dogs! It was not an easy job with two dogs with different needs, one dog struggling with a skin infection and on new medication and both having just moved to the area. Anna gave us regular updates, followed all of our instruction/preferences, and made us feel at ease while we were out of town. We have already booked her for another stay and are thrilled to have found a sitter we can trust!

Willow was wonderful!!! I needed to find someone last minute due to a death in the family, and Willow came through big time! She made the time to come to my apartment before I left to meet me and my pup and even took her for a walk the same week, just to make sure my dog knew who she was and she could familiarize herself with my dog and my home. She was a clear, effective, and wonderful communicator and companion to my dog when I was out of town, and I swear she left my apartment cleaner than when she arrived! I can’t wait to have Willow back to help with my dog, and I would highly recommend her to help out with any other pets!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred South Boston walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in South Boston maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in South Boston choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
