“We've been using Melissa for dog walking and just had our first overnight sit with her. She is responsive and communicative throughout the process. She takes great care of my dogs. On her first walk, one of my puppies had explosive diarrhea in his crate, and she stay for at least 30 minutes cleaning him and the crate up. She left out house sit with the house in clean condition. I'm very glad to have found someone reliable to watch/walk our two babies!”

“The best! Soli watched my dogs 2 out of the last 3 weeks and I couldn’t be happier. The best sitter and she treats my dogs like her own. Cannot recommend her enough!!”

“Haowen and Yi did an amazing job sitting for my cats Wynston and Maya. Wynston in particular is 18 years old and requires a lot of special care, including a number of medications and extra hygiene considerations. Haowen and Yi were very detail oriented and sent me daily confirmation of all the important parts of their care, with lots of pictures. I was able to relax on my trip knowing they were well taken care of. I would definitely book again. Thanks so much Haowen and Yi!”

“Jamie did such a great job watching my 11 week old dachshund puppy, Eloise! She offered to meet my pup ahead of watching her for a meet and greet which helped immensely the day she came to watch her. Also, my pup has a lot of detailed needs and Jamie followed through on all of them (crate training, frequent potty times, play time, feeding, you name it)! She is a star-sitter!! I will be booking her again and again!!”

“Sky is amazing! She was so attentive to all of our doggo’s needs and very communicative throughout our time away. We loved getting multiple photo and video updates. Without a question would book with her again! I know our furry family member is counting down the days until Skylar’s next visit.”

“Christine was wonderful! She was very communicative while house sitting our pup and it was nice to see him be comfortable with her in such a short amount of time. We’ll definitely be rebooking when she’s available!”

“Kristina was great!! We had a sitter cancel last minute and consider ourselves VERY lucky that Kristina was available. She did an excellent job dog & house sitting and sent us detailed updates. We will absolutely book with her again!!”

“Sophie and my cats were happy and well cared for when I returned, and my home was left clean and tidy. Communication throughout the stay was good, and I also appreciated her willingness to be flexible while battling a cancelled flight incident during my travels. Overall, it was a positive experience.”

“I’m afraid to leave this review because Sasha may have less availability in the future, not that I’m so influential…lol. However, I must say that my dogs, who have separation anxiety, took to Sasha like no other dog sitter we have had! The communication and engagement throughout her stay was excellent. We got pictures and feedback while she was with the dogs and she answered all our messages very quickly. I could tell by the pictures that our girls were very comfortable and happy and that means the world to us. Perhaps these empty nesters will actually get to go away for a weekend in the near future! Sasha welcomed my list of instructions and followed through and left our dogs and our home in great shape. I couldn’t be happier!”

“As a first-time Rover user, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Tati was wonderful with communication and kept me updated throughout my trip, which really put my mind at ease. I came home to a clean house and happy, well-cared-for fur babies. I really appreciated how responsive and reassuring she was, and I wouldn't hesitate to book with her again! Thanks, Tati!”

“Sophia was a wonderful sitter who housesat with our senior Greyhound for four nights. Sophia is very communicative, quick to respond, and we loved receiving her pictures and updates of our dog while we were out of town. Sophia went above and beyond to leave our apartment spotless upon our return and to keep to our dog’s routine that makes him happy and comfortable. Thank you Sophia!”

“Angie was so wonderful! She really helped us feel like our dog was in good hands and we could trust her. highly recommend! I’m so sad to be moving but whoever books her, she is great and gives great care!”

“Anastasia responded to my booking with less than an 24 hour notice. She immediately responded and made time to meet my pup Clem within an hour of booking! She was very communicative while I was away and made sure to send lots of updates throughout her stay. She’s dog and human approved!!”

“We had to drop our son at his college and at the last minute our sitter had to cancel because she got COVID. Tracy came to our rescue! Our dog is quite anxious and we can't just leave him with anyone who does not have experience with dogs and an understanding of their various temperaments so we were quite worried about finding the right person available in such a short time. We could not have been luckier to have Tracy with our dog. She got to know him quickly, asked us lots of questions ahead about his needs and routine. We came home to a sparkling clean house and very happy, calm dog. Tracy reported regularly on how he was doing with photos galore. I'm just hoping she's available the next time we need to leave town without our pet. Thank you so much again Tracy!”

“Triin was so great with my golden retriever, Louis! Triin was so sweet and caring with him and loved spending time with him! Triin was so professional and flexible with timing as well and respectful of my home. I am definitely rebooking!”

About: As someone who has grown up with dogs my whole life, I’m looking for more ways to have dogs in my everyday life while unable to adopt one of my own. Dog walking will give me an opportunity to spend more time with dogs, which I truly enjoy. I have 2 dogs at my family home, a 12 year old and a 6 year old and I have always had experiences with different dogs. I also have my own cat who lives with me in Boston, who gets along great with dogs. I would love the opportunity to get to know and walk your dog! I work full time but work from home Wednesdays and Fridays giving me flexibility for providing pet care. My weekends are also very flexible to provide the best care and availability. One of the many advantages to living in the Boston area is the amount of parks, perfect to bring dogs to and lots of opportunities for walks.
“Kelly is fabulous! So communicative and lovely. She house sit for a week and watched my cat. She left the place clean, and always checked in throughout the week. I so appreciate her and will definitely book her again in the future!”

“Masiel was friendly and came over a few days before the booking to meet our dog. She got along well with our dog and took him for several walks. She kept us updated with photos and videos. She also kept the house clean. We would definitely book her again. Thank you!”

Siena was so kind and has such a good energy. She took such good care of my babies while I was gone and sent me pictures every day. She genuinely cares and the kitties seemed really to love her. She also left my house very clean and communicated very clearly throughout my trip.

Alice was a fantastic sitter. She was communicative, prompt and professional from the start. She asked extremely thoughtful questions and took detailed notes. While watching our pup, Alice sent several detailed updates throughout, all with wonderful photos. We felt our dog was safe, cared for and with someone we could trust. On top of that, she was a wonderful house guest - as everything was in pristine condition when we arrived home to our happy boy. Would highly recommend Alice to anyone!

George had a very recent incident swallowing a toy and was on watch for aspiration pneumonia. When he got sick and the vet recommended he come back in, Gabrielle took great care of him and kept me posted on his status. It is such a relief to know I can leave my babies in such good hands!

Triin was the perfect sitter! She was able to ensure all of Clancy’s needs were met while we were away from our puppy for the first time. Triin’s attention to detail and ability to provide the appropriate training, play and care for Clancy made us feel relieved and comfortable to leave Clancy with her. Thank you, Triin! Would recommend her to anyone!

We chose James based on his glowing reviews and let me just say, I am SO glad we did. I wish there was an option to give 10 stars. We have 2 very different dogs. One is very quirky and James was not only willing, but seemed excited to play bubbles, the hose, and even late night beach ball with him. He sent us great updates, photos and videos, some so funny that I have rewatched them too many times. This was the first time I came home and genuinely worried my dog would miss James and want him over me lol. He left our house spotless, took great care of everything around the house. Even was flexible enough to leave in the early morning hours because we came in on a red eye. He is the BEST. Anyone is lucky to have him as a dog sitter. Brady and Winston miss him already.
Danielle did a fantastic job taking care of my dogs while I was away for a couple days. She had great communication, keeping me updated with how they were doing/ what was going on and included great pictures of the dogs! Danielle is very trustworthy and I’m extremely grateful that everything went smooth. I would certainly recommend her to anyone looking for a dog sitter!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Chelsea walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Chelsea maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Chelsea choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
