“Kerri was absolutely wonderful and truly loves dogs. From the daily walks to the constant photo updates, it was so clear how comfortable and happy our pups were with her — lots of cuddles and snuggles in the pictures. Our house was left in perfect condition, exactly how we left it. We felt completely at ease knowing our dogs were in such caring hands and will definitely use her for all future trips. Highly recommend!”

About: I’ve taken care of my two dogs one 17 since I was in third grade and we recently got a puppy both who stay at my families house while I live apart from them now which is very hard but I visit them every weekend! I was a mspca volunteer growing up donating multiple times a month, did horseback riding and attending vet tech school at the moment online I work remotely everyday of the week with an exception of some Wednesdays. I enjoy walking outside during work when I am able to to get fresh air and exercise! I love exercise so that’s a great way for me to get out while walking a dog! I am able to walk the dog around assembly row and bring them to the dog park in this area if allowed by the owners. I have watched my dogs here as well as my friends dog and we play do walks 3 times a day or as many times if they need to use the bathroom! I am awake early at 4 am to workout before work so I am open the rest of the day besides a few meetings on my calendar!
“Ailish is a wonderful sitter!! She took excellent care of our two dogs and home. She is super nice, friendly, and easy to communicate with. I very highly recommend her and will have her sit for us again in the future.”

“Grace did a great job house sitting our elderly dog while we were away. She kept the house clean and our old Boston terrier was so well cared for I think he was sad to see her go. I’d recommend Grace to anyone that needs house sitting / dog sitting services.”

“This was the first time I left Milo with a sitter, and it worked out beautifully. Andrew was great with the dog, communicated clearly and regularly with me before and while I was away, and left the house spotless. I'll definitely try to book him for future trips.”

About: I have always loved animals and have owned and cared for many different pets since I was a young kid. I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and making sure they feel loved and happy. I’m also very attentive to each pet’s individual needs and carefully follow any care instructions provided to ensure they receive the best possible care. I pride myself on being compassionate, reliable, detail-oriented, and maintaining a professional and trustworthy relationship with every client. I have a very open schedule! I love animals and spending time with them so I am very flexible and I'm available most every day/night! I care for every pet as if they were my own. I follow the owner’s instructions closely to make sure their routine, feeding schedule, medications, and any special needs are handled exactly as requested. I make sure pets receive plenty of attention, exercise, and affection while also keeping their environment clean and safe. My goal is to provide reliable, attentive care so both the pet and the owner feel comfortable and confident while they’re away.
“We had a great experience leaving our dogs, cat, and home in Annie's care! She was communicative and shared lots of photos but also gave us the freedom to enjoy our time away. The animals seemed to enjoy their time with her and the house was in great shape when we came home. Really all you can ask for! We look forward to using Annie's services again in the future.”

About: I have experience with puppies and mature dogs; specifically, but not limited to breeds such as pit bulls, shitzus, and dachshunds. I am gentle, kind, caring, and patient; attentive to the needs of animals and the routines set by their owners. I am currently unemployed so I am available at all times. I work freelance as an artist from my home studio, so I can be as flexible and responsive to pre-existing routines. I live alone with no pets in a pet friendly apartment complex near a public park, a dog park, and near Logan Airport. I understand that routine and crating is crucial for maintaining an animal's safety and comfort, so I have no issue complying with such requests.

About: I’ve pet sat for a lot of my neighbors in high school. I have fed and walked dogs, fed and hung out with cats and even fed chickens! I have 3 cats and love dogs and going on long sunny walks :). Willing to learn about any animals! I work at a therapeutic middle school so my afternoons after 3 and weekends are free, and I’m free after 2 in the summer. I can travel to your house and stay with your pet and keep them company. If you need me to stay there/house sit, we can talk about that as well.
“Emily was great, we will definitely use her again! She was extremely communicative and great about making plans. She sent us lots of great photos and updates throughout our trip and took great care of our pup and our home!”

About: My name is Jhonatan (but you can call me Jay) and I would love to take care of your best furrriend. I’m a 31 years old Brazilian folk that works with art so I have plenty of free time on my daily basis. I was raised with 4 dogs in Brazil, but unfortunately don’t own one. I have more than 10 years of experience in dog walking, pet sitting and pet boarding. I’m a makeup artist that has a side job as freelancer for selling makeup products but trying to work with pets more after a year of not doing so. I used to dog walk and pet sit by myself but stopped after some health issues (I’m healed now) and I’m trying to do only on Rover. I’ve signed up a few years back and did only one sitting but deleted the app. I know CPR and First Aid for pets so your best friend would be safe in my hands (if any natural incident ever comes to happen). I have experience with bigger (such as Great Dane) and smaller dogs (chihuahua), with elderly and puppies (as well as how to better train their behavior), with aggressive and non aggressive dogs, I’ve split fights before and also know some how to teach your dog to behave and walk better outside with other dogs. I used to work for a dog trainer and have learned some things that could help them. I’m currently working part time free lance for makeup brands and make my own schedule so I’d have plenty of time to spend with your furrriend. If I’m pet sitting I usually would make my schedule in a way that I’d have time to walk the dog a few hours a day, twice or 3 times a day and sleep with them. If dog walking I’d walk them for 30min, if allowed I’d love to bring them to a leashed hike if nearby. I always try to keep myself calm because from all years working with dogs it shows that they feed off people’s energy, I practice yoga and meditation so that way it helps to keep them calm and relaxed. In your home I’d feed and give them water, have them exercise so they spend their energy and they can have a nice sleep. On walks I give them water breaks if too hot and always watch for their behavior.
“Deni took great care of our pup and house for a week while we were away. She sent regular updates, followed through on any specific requests, and left the house very tidy. Would definitely recommend!”

About: My green flag is, pets love to be around me. I've been taking care of my friend's pets for two years and they love me. I am currently open to work with your schedule. I am free 5 days of the week. Preferably after noon, but I am very flexible I work through pet owner's needs. I try to understand pet's personality. I allow pets to be themselves around me. Safety and care comes first.

“Sydney took good care of our pups while we were gone! She was available to help us on short notice when another Rover canceled on us at the last minute. We will definitely consider her again on our next trip!”

“We're so grateful to Melissa for taking such good care of our wonderful but neurotic dog Birdie! Melissa is communicative, responsible, and clearly loves dogs. We would have her to sit for Birdie again anytime.”

“Fahad was wonderful with our two fur babies. He stayed in our home so they would be more comfortable. Fahad clearly has a love for animals and is a very kind person. I would highly recommend him and plan to have him stay with our dogs in the future.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Melrose
Mandy and Daniel were so great with our reactive anxious pup. Since he's too afraid to go on walks in the neighborhood, they drove him to the cemetery every day for quiet walks. He has also been picky with his food lately due to his meds, and they always made sure he had something in his belly and got his meds. I can tell based on the photos and videos that he loved his time with them.

Alice is AMAZING! Her attention to detail is top notch, so communicative and so thoughtful. She left our place spotless and went above and beyond with our stubborn dog - carrying him when he wouldn’t walk. I can’t say enough good things… exceeded our expectations

Jay was WONDERFUL with our dog and I would hire him again in an heartbeat. Our lab is a nervous boy, especially around men. But Jay was patient and loving so he warmed right up. We received lots of cute photos and it was clear that he was relaxed and happy. We had a great vacation knowing our boy was in great care.

Rebecca is the best sitter ever!!! We always come home to a healthy happy and safe dog. She also takes care of the home as requested + MORE! Additionally, she was even able to stay an extra night with super last minute notice. We will never book with anyone else!

Emily did a fantastic job housesitting and caring for our dog. She was very easy to communicate with and was very attentive to our dog’s needs. Her updates kept us informed of everything going on and allowed us feel free to be away and trusted her fully with our home and dog. Highly recommend Emily to anyone looking for dog care!

As a first-time Rover user, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Tati was wonderful with communication and kept me updated throughout my trip, which really put my mind at ease. I came home to a clean house and happy, well-cared-for fur babies. I really appreciated how responsive and reassuring she was, and I wouldn't hesitate to book with her again! Thanks, Tati!

My wife and I have been searching for a cat sitter that we feel totally comfortable caring for our very needy cat while we are away, and we’ve finally found that in Anny! Got so many updates and our house looked the same when we returned as it did when we left. We’ve already booked with Anny for another upcoming vacation :)

Jillian was AMAZING with our mischievous Jack Russell! She communicated often during the day (which we love) and was incredibly attentive to Porter’s schedule and needs. We have already rebooked her and will continue to do so in the future! Our minds were completely at ease on vacation knowing she was with Porter.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Melrose walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Melrose maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Melrose choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
