Guillermo was excellent! He sat for our senior dog, Cooper, at our place for 4 days and it was a great experience. He was communicative and responsive, he left the house cleaner than when we left, and more importantly he took great care of Cooper!! We would highly recommend.

Omar was truly amazing! We were in a crunch after our original dog sitter did not finalize as expected, and Omar stepped in on short notice without hesitation. He confirmed the dates quickly and even made time to meet our two Rhodesian Ridgebacks for two walks before the stay, which gave us so much peace of mind. From the beginning, Omar was prompt, professional, trustworthy, and genuinely eager to meet our dogs. During the stay, he kept their schedule consistent and even took them on extra walks, which I know they absolutely loved. He kept us updated throughout, and we always felt confident that our dogs were safe, secure, and well cared for. Omar is not only a great sitter and walker, but also an overall great person. Our dogs loved him, and we would feel completely comfortable having them stay with him anytime we travel. I think we have officially found our recurring sitter and walker. Highly recommend!

About: I worked at a humane society and worked with many dogs of all sizes and breeds. Helped to socialize them; took them for walks/hikes, went for car rides, got them comfortable being outdoors. I also dog sat for friends and family throughout the years. Very comfortable with giving medications and taking care of special needs dogs (grew up with a dog that required seizure medication and had frequent seizures). As a college student I have a fairly flexible schedule. My weekends are completely free and I have more than a couple hours free during the weekday in the mornings and evenings (as well as some time during the middle of the day if I’m not in class). I grew up in a home where dogs were family members. We were very comfortable with them being indoor and outdoor pets. We would go for hikes, walks/runs (was fairly active to help the dogs release their energy) and would also relax together indoors. Will crate as needed for dog and family comfort or will just hang out on a sofa and read a book for company for the pet. Since I’m used to caring for a high maintenance dog that required special attention, I can clean up accidents and administer medications if needed (with lots of approved treats)

We had a fantastic experience with Nicole! She was incredibly communicative from start to finish — always quick to respond and kept us updated with regular photos and messages. Nicole was punctual, reliable, and clearly has a natural way with dogs. Our pup instantly warmed up to her, and it was clear they were in great hands the whole time. She went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly, and we came home to a happy, relaxed dog. It was such a relief knowing our pet was being cared for by someone so friendly, professional, and genuinely caring. We’d absolutely book with Nicole again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and kind sitter

About: I grew up with cats and have lived with animals my whole life (cats, fish, hamsters, dogs). I have provided petsitting for cats, reptiles, and dogs. I have petsit across ages, temperaments, sizes, medical needs, and energy levels. From a senior deerhound, to two young whippets, to cats with specialized diets and medication administration. I'm a remote office worker with a flexible schedule who is looking to stay active and save for my first home. I love going for walks, rain or shine! And there's nothing better than curling up on the couch with a furry friend. I work remotely and can be with your furry family all day and provide them with as much supervision and enrichment/exercise as they need to ensure they have fulfilling and safe days. We loved having Karen watch our animals during our recent vacation! She was easy to communicate with and kept us very up to date on how everyone was doing throughout her time with them. We had several days where we were completely off the grid and she kept us up to date through all of it so we had photos to look at when we could turn our phones back on. In all of the photos we received, the animals looked content, well-loved and comfortable. Our animals each have their own unique needs and she did a wonderful job keeping them to their routine. She also took very good care of the house while we were gone and it was very clean when we got back. We couldn't recommend Karen more!

About: I got my Labrador retriever when I was 12, and I’ve loved dogs ever since. I will go out of my way to be around dogs - they really are a human’s best friend and such a life-changing companion — being around them has always felt natural and meaningful to me. I work fully remote, so I’m home a lot and have a flexible schedule. That makes it easy for me to give dogs plenty of attention, walks, and care throughout the day. I’m available for dog sitting any day of the week, and usually on weekends too unless noted otherwise. Your dog’s safety and comfort are really important to me. Since our apartment doesn’t allow pets, I’m always happy to come to your place so your dog can stay in their own familiar space and feel comfortable and relaxed.

About: I’ve taken care of dogs since I was 12. My family has had 4 dogs (Australian shepherds!) and my current dog is special needs and requires more intense care. I have a special love for dogs, and memorized all the breeds when I was 8 years old! I will care for your dog as if it was my own, and im always happy to help you and your pup! I work remotely (one day in office) and live in Medford ma. My lease doesn’t allow for dogs, but I LOVE them so much. I am able to pop over for a quick walk during the day, or work from your home. I could go over any time after 5 for a longer walk during the week, and weekends I am available (if I have no plans prior) I like to be cautious with pets that I watch, keeping them on leash and being careful about open doors. I’ve watched some dogs who can’t be trusted off leash, and unless there is a fully fenced in yard I keep extra close attention. I love to spend time with pooches and make sure they are as comfortable as they can be, because I know dogs get sad when their owners are gone!

I was apprehensive about leaving my 14+ year old corgi for a week and a half and have been avoiding traveling anywhere I can’t take her for the past couple years. I was so glad to find Lilia and she did a fantastic job. In our meet and greet, she asked many insightful and detailed questions about caring for Lexi, took detailed notes, and Lexi took to her very quickly. As Lexi is senior and has a few quirks, I would only have been comfortable leaving her with someone very experienced and capable in caring for animals, and that was clear from our initial meeting. Lexi had a FANTASTIC time while I was gone. I received daily updates with photos of Lexi on adventures and clearly having a great time. Lilia was also careful to ask me about anything that seemed out of the ordinary in Lexi’s behavior - mostly senior dog quirks I had forgotten to mention but it was reassuring that I certainly would have heard about anything more serious. Lilia was also extremely courteous when it came to my apartment. I am so grateful to Lilia for the excellent care she took of Lexi, allowing me to really travel for the first time in years. My only concern while traveling was that Lexi looked like she was having so much fun that she would be disappointed about me returning home! I will have to find another excuse to travel soon so Lexi can spend more time with her new friend.

FAQs for House Sitting - West Medford

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in West Medford on Rover is $61.05 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 6,593 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across West Medford. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred West Medford walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in West Medford maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in West Medford choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in West Medford. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
