It was so great having Alexis take care of our 5-month-old puppy for the weekend. She had tons of experience and he was in great hands. She kept him on a great schedule with lots of fun, play, and walks and sent updates and pictures morning and evening. He loved her. She also left the house in perfect condition. We would definitely love to hire her again.

About: I have had a dog and cat since I was 4 years old. I currently take care of my dog Oliver but also have 2, 90+ pound family dogs. I am well able to control dogs of all sizes and enjoy cuddles from all. I also love cats and am patient with those who are a little more shy. I have taken care of neighbors pets since I was 10 years old. I am around most days and always keep my calendar up-to-date. I currently work from home but enjoy taking a walk mid afternoon to stretch my legs. I am happy to take your dog on a short or long walk or to a nearby park plus stick around for a bit to socialize and give your pet cuddles if they want! I am also happy to introduce your dog to mine if they would like a socializing companion.

Renee worked with our family to take care of our two labs (5 mos and 3 years) while we were traveling overseas. She was available for a quick Zoom interview, as well as providing references quickly. While we were away she provided daily or more frequent updates with photos. She gave us great peace of mind and we came home to happy pups!

Jay was WONDERFUL with our dog and I would hire him again in an heartbeat. Our lab is a nervous boy, especially around men. But Jay was patient and loving so he warmed right up. We received lots of cute photos and it was clear that he was relaxed and happy. We had a great vacation knowing our boy was in great care.

We are so thankful that we found Anna to take care of our sweet girl. We typically take our dog on vacations with us but with the new baby we needed to find a sitter. Anna went out of her way to meet our dog and make sure we felt comfortable. She was amazing with our dog and when we came home we knew she was well taken care of!

Andrew is an amazing dog sitter! He stayed at our home for two weeks while we were on vacation and looked after our 2 dogs. He was amazing, he texted us daily updates with pictures and even found a fenced area to play fetch with my mini aussie as he is high energy. Followed the care instructions for my yorkie who just had surgery. He definitely went above and beyond and I 100% recommend him!

We had a great experience with Josselyn! She watched our year and a half old husky while we were at work and kept us updated throughout the day. She was very attentive to his potty training needs, took him out often, and took him on a long walk to help get his energy out. She even brought him a special treat after checking with us about allergies, which we really appreciated. He was clearly well cared for, and she will definitely be our go-to sitter!

Mandy was great with our two dogs. She gave us very detailed updates about how they were doing and the things they did that day. She would take them on walks and a few other adventures as well and took plenty of pictures of them. She even went above and beyond by dehydrating a chicken breast so they could have chicken jerky! Definitely recommend and will be the first person I go to.

She followed all of our instructions carefully, including giving medication with meals to one of our dogs, and everything was handled perfectly. When we got home, it was obvious our dogs had been well cared for. They were happy, relaxed, and clearly had a great time. The house was spotless too. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and will definitely be booking with Marcy again. Highly recommend!

This was my wife and I’s first time leaving our dog (Rocco) and cat (Bert) with a sitter for a weekend and it was a perfect fit! Rocco gets very excited when he meets strangers, which can be intimidating at first, but Kirsten handled it like a pro and it was smooth sailing from there. Bert also warmed up quickly as we could tell by the pictures Kirsten regularly sent throughout the weekend. We were very nervous about how it would go having a sitter for the first time, but after this experience we would 110% recommend Kirsten again in the future!!! She even cleaned up the apartment before she left, which was totally unexpected!

Natalie is the absolute best for our dog. We went for a week long trip and Natalie stayed in our home. Let me start off by saying that we came back to the house even better than we left it. Natalie kept us up to date and treated Tia and our house as her own. She made sure to clean up any and all messes. And cleaned up a mess from Tia’s accident better than even we could. She even went through our trashes and washed her own sheets. Natalie will be our go-to sitter going forward and highly recommend her to all

About: I’ve had cats since I was 8 years old. With the 16 years of experience with cats, I believe every fur baby needs a home away from home. Like with every pet parent, I strive for the best with my cat. If you choose me to watch your fur baby, I will provide the best and safest environment for them. Do they need a room to themselves? You got it. Has explosive diarrhea? I have cleaning supplies. Medical issues? Another way to keep me on my toes. I hope you consider me as a prospective aunt to your kitter cat or doggo and can’t wait to fill up my camera role with adorable pictures. I look forward to hearing from you 💕 I am a grad student at Brandeis University. My classes are usually over by 2 pm, so after then I’m usually at my apartment caring for my cat and completing schoolwork. So needless to say, I have a lot of flexibility within my schedule for your pets individual needs. If I am doing home visits, I would like to visit the clients home a day or two prior to the arranged visit(s) to understand the animals needs and to see if we would be a good fit. I believe it is important to establish an understanding with the animal in question before I frequent the premises so there isn’t any unnecessary stress for your pet. In regards to boarding, I have a medium sized apartment that would be good for any cat or small-medium dog. There are multiple grassy areas for bathroom breaks and walks around the premises. You will have to provide me with your animals usual schedule (times for bathroom breaks, when and how much time are committed to walks, feeding times, etc.) so I can build my set around them and their needs

FAQs for House Sitting - West Medford

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in West Medford on Rover is $61.05 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 6,467 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across West Medford. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred West Medford walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in West Medford maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in West Medford choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in West Medford. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
