“Guillermo was excellent! He sat for our senior dog, Cooper, at our place for 4 days and it was a great experience. He was communicative and responsive, he left the house cleaner than when we left, and more importantly he took great care of Cooper!! We would highly recommend.”

“Omar was truly amazing! We were in a crunch after our original dog sitter did not finalize as expected, and Omar stepped in on short notice without hesitation. He confirmed the dates quickly and even made time to meet our two Rhodesian Ridgebacks for two walks before the stay, which gave us so much peace of mind. From the beginning, Omar was prompt, professional, trustworthy, and genuinely eager to meet our dogs. During the stay, he kept their schedule consistent and even took them on extra walks, which I know they absolutely loved. He kept us updated throughout, and we always felt confident that our dogs were safe, secure, and well cared for. Omar is not only a great sitter and walker, but also an overall great person. Our dogs loved him, and we would feel completely comfortable having them stay with him anytime we travel. I think we have officially found our recurring sitter and walker. Highly recommend!”

“Sam was wonderful with my shy, anxious pup. Sam took it slow and Fern really warmed up to her. I got a very detailed report from Sam at the end of the weekend. I came home to a happy pup & a spotless home.”

“I’m afraid to leave this review because Sasha may have less availability in the future, not that I’m so influential…lol. However, I must say that my dogs, who have separation anxiety, took to Sasha like no other dog sitter we have had! The communication and engagement throughout her stay was excellent. We got pictures and feedback while she was with the dogs and she answered all our messages very quickly. I could tell by the pictures that our girls were very comfortable and happy and that means the world to us. Perhaps these empty nesters will actually get to go away for a weekend in the near future! Sasha welcomed my list of instructions and followed through and left our dogs and our home in great shape. I couldn’t be happier!”

“Natalie is fantastic! Her calendar is up-to-date, and she responds quickly. She's has an easy-going comfortable way around dogs that will make you comfortable leaving your dog with her. Our dog tends to be people shy and she loved Natalie right away.”

“Andrew accommodated a last minute request from me, which I fully appreciate. He was prompt and proactive in his communication, and he took good care of my puppy. Thank you!”

“Kaylor was great with Finn. Kaylor brings a calm energy which was great with our high energy dog. Kaylor gave him the exercise he needed and was easy to communicate with throughout the stay.”

“Aaron spent an evening with our labradoodle when we visited the area from out of town. Aaron and the dog got along great and went on a long walk. We would definitely book Aaron again if we need dog sitting again in the area.”

About: I worked at a humane society and worked with many dogs of all sizes and breeds. Helped to socialize them; took them for walks/hikes, went for car rides, got them comfortable being outdoors. I also dog sat for friends and family throughout the years. Very comfortable with giving medications and taking care of special needs dogs (grew up with a dog that required seizure medication and had frequent seizures). As a college student I have a fairly flexible schedule. My weekends are completely free and I have more than a couple hours free during the weekday in the mornings and evenings (as well as some time during the middle of the day if I’m not in class). I grew up in a home where dogs were family members. We were very comfortable with them being indoor and outdoor pets. We would go for hikes, walks/runs (was fairly active to help the dogs release their energy) and would also relax together indoors. Will crate as needed for dog and family comfort or will just hang out on a sofa and read a book for company for the pet. Since I’m used to caring for a high maintenance dog that required special attention, I can clean up accidents and administer medications if needed (with lots of approved treats)
“Nicole was a lifesaver, our doggy developed some stomach issues right before my planned trip and Nicole was able to take care of her and even help me get her to her vet and start a care plan while I was away. Safe to say that she has my complete trust with my dog and there’s no one I would recommend more!”

About: I've loved and cared for dogs and cats my entire life! I walked dogs professionally in New York City and now call the Boston Area home. My schedule is flexible as I work from home and would love to take care of your pet any time of day. People often are surprised when their timid pup warms up to me right away; they can sense my friendly attitude. I've walked dogs large and small for short treks and long hikes. I'm great at handling the big ones and I'm always careful not to overexert the little ones. I also have experience house sitting for both cats and dogs; I'm an attentive sitter, willing to play with your pup and take him or her out for potty breaks as often as necessary. I hope you'll consider me as your walker or sitter, and I look forward to meeting your furbaby! I work flexible hours from home, so I can accommodate most schedules from midday walks to longer house sits. I can also do drop-ins before or after work. I am happy to follow any and all house rules to keep your pet happy and safe. I treat others' homes like my own and am happy to work from your home to spend more time with your pet.
“Sydney took great care of our puppy and 2 cats while we were away for the long weekend. She listened to all of our instructions about the pets' quirks and sent wonderful updates. We will definitely be booking with her again. Thanks, Sydney!”
“Jeffrey stayed in our home for ~1 week, watching our cat and dog. During this time our dog needed to be coned and required a little extra care, but Jeffrey provided great care for both our animals and our home. I highly recommend him for anyone looking for pet sitting in the Medford area!”

“Alicia was absolutely amazing with our pup! She was super communicative, on time, and sent so many pictures and detailed updates multiple times a day, which gave us so much peace of mind. We haven’t left our dog with someone new in a long time, so we were naturally a little nervous, but we felt completely secure knowing our pup was in her care. It made such a difference to see how happy and well cared for our dog was. We will definitely be booking with her again!”

“Tanya did a wonderful job taking care of Bernie and also left our house in mint condition. She communicated well and kept us posted on how things were going. We'd highly recommend her to others!”

“Rachael has been absolutely amazing with my dog! My pup was a recent rescue that was scared of everything. Rachael spent the first few weeks increasing my dog’s comfort level with her and now my pup LOVES Rachael and gets excited for their daily walk! She’s the only other person that my dog trusts :)”

About: I've always loved taking care of dogs! I had my first when I was 9, a beagle. Throughout the years I've done various dog-walking and dog/cat sitting for friends and family, and now I miss seeing all the dogs as I live away from them and they have passed :'( On multiple occasions, I took care of two loving but rambunctious pit bulls for weekends and extended periods of time while my friend was away. Gave them medicines, lots of attention, and invigorating walks. I took care of the house while they were away and sometimes stayed overnight. I have experience with dogs that need to be on a tight leash in certain scenarios, and experience allowing them to just have fun in safe spaces. With well-behaved dogs, I've gone on runs in the forest and been able to have them off-leash. I love having a buddy! I care a lot about maintaining the boundaries and rules around how you have trained your pet and keeping their routines. I manage an office nearby Monday thru Thursday, flexible Fridays. The morning walks are reliable and I can message you specifics and sort your dog’s and my schedule around it :) Most days, the afternoon walk can be configured into the schedule. We have a larger yard and no pets living in the house. My sisters nearby both have friendly dogs if yours would like some pals. Some days are busier or have a tighter walk schedule for me, but usually just 2 weekdays, which is why this works for me! I love taking dogs to different adventures like the Fells or games in my backyard, or just hanging out and cuddling :)
“Cynthia did a great job taking care of my elderly cat Simon while I was away. He has some specific diet and medication things, and she made sure he was well taken care of. She communicated every day and I knew he was in good hands!”

About: Hi! I'm a lifelong animal lover who grew up around dogs and puppies thanks to my dad, a responsible dog breeder. Caring for dogs was a big part of my life from an early age, and I gained hands-on experience with dogs of different breeds, ages, and personalities. I grew to love cats as well when my best friend adopted two cats and we all lived together for several years. Since then, I've had the pleasure of pet sitting for puppies, dogs, and cats for friends, family, and clients. I'm dependable, communicative, and happy to provide regular updates and photos so you can feel confident that your pets are happy and well cared for while you're away. As an animal lover who's new to the Boston area and currently unable to have pets in my apartment, pet sitting is a wonderful way for me to spend time with animals while helping pet owners travel or work with peace of mind. I work from home, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to accommodate walks, drop-ins, and pet care throughout the day. When petsitting at your home, I can be there all day if you have wifi and a place for me to use my laptop, or I can pop in during the day and stay overnight. I always try to keep pets comfortable by maintaining their normal routines as closely as possible. Whether that means sticking to a feeding schedule, going on regular walks, playing, administering basic medications, or simply providing companionship, I pay close attention to each pet's individual needs and personality. Safety is my top priority. I make sure doors, gates, harnesses, and leashes are secure, and I closely supervise pets during walks and outdoor time. I also understand the importance of following any instructions you provide regarding your pet's care, behavior, or medical needs. When staying in a client's home, I treat both the pets and the home with the utmost respect. I'm tidy, responsible, and communicative, and I'm happy to provide regular updates and photos so you can enjoy your time away with peace of mind.
“Pan had a fabulous time with James. James treated Pan with love and care as if he were his own pup. We received transparent and timely communication, he shared lots of great photos and even took Pan on some fun field trips during the week. Would absolutely book again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - West Medford
I was apprehensive about leaving my 14+ year old corgi for a week and a half and have been avoiding traveling anywhere I can’t take her for the past couple years. I was so glad to find Lilia and she did a fantastic job. In our meet and greet, she asked many insightful and detailed questions about caring for Lexi, took detailed notes, and Lexi took to her very quickly. As Lexi is senior and has a few quirks, I would only have been comfortable leaving her with someone very experienced and capable in caring for animals, and that was clear from our initial meeting. Lexi had a FANTASTIC time while I was gone. I received daily updates with photos of Lexi on adventures and clearly having a great time. Lilia was also careful to ask me about anything that seemed out of the ordinary in Lexi’s behavior - mostly senior dog quirks I had forgotten to mention but it was reassuring that I certainly would have heard about anything more serious. Lilia was also extremely courteous when it came to my apartment. I am so grateful to Lilia for the excellent care she took of Lexi, allowing me to really travel for the first time in years. My only concern while traveling was that Lexi looked like she was having so much fun that she would be disappointed about me returning home! I will have to find another excuse to travel soon so Lexi can spend more time with her new friend.

Aashiya is a fabulous cat sitter and our girls love being with her!!! She is responsible, communicative, and thoughtful. I get so nervous being away from our cats but she is really talented and I feel better when she is with them!!! Thank you Aashiya, you are so wonderful!

Guillermo was fantastic. He house sat and watched our dog Sylvie on an extended trip (2+ weeks), and went above and beyond. He was great with Sylvie, showed a clear comfort and capability with dogs, sent us tons of lovely photos, was super kind and professional, and communicated clearly throughout. I would highly recommend Guillermo and look forward to working with him again!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in West Medford on Rover is $61.05 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 6,593 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across West Medford. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred West Medford walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in West Medford maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in West Medford choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
