“Tanya did a great job taking care of Oreo and keeping me updated over a longer stay. She showed great respect for my home and took feedback and adjustments well when my dog was showing signs of distress. I hope to work with her again.”

“Renee has now sat for our two labs in our home several times, and each time provides excellent communication (including photos) about the dogs or anything that may be happening in the house. We return to a clean home, happy pets and it has made returning from going away so much easier. Highly recommend.”

“Cynthia did a great job taking care of my elderly cat Simon while I was away. He has some specific diet and medication things, and she made sure he was well taken care of. She communicated every day and I knew he was in good hands!”

“Devika was prompt and personable and connected with my dog immediately. She kept me updated on his well-being and was great to work with. I had to unexpectedly find someone to watch my dog while I was out and was very lucky to find her.”

“Emily was absolutely fantastic!! She took incredible care of my lab Dixie, sending me a pup-date every day letting me know how she was doing :) She also left my place spotless. I will definitely re-book Emily for future dog-sitting!”

“Nicole was great with our two 10-year-old cattle dogs for their first overnight stay with a new sitter. She was kind, professional, and easy to talk to about all their routines and quirks beforehand, which put us at ease leaving our pups in someone new's care. While we were away, she sent updates at the key points in their schedule, so we always knew they were fed, walked, and settled. Everything about the stay felt smooth and well cared for, and we're already looking forward to booking with her again!”

“Amarais was always reachable before and during her stay with our senior labradoodle. She took excellent care of her (and our house) and we’d gladly have her stay again!”

About: I love animals and end up being the go to pet sitter for friends and family. I also have a very friendly and loving 9 year old who desperately wants a pet... but we live in an apartment that doesn't allow animals. And he adores tagging along, and has been begging me to find more/ other pets that he can help take care of. We don't travel often and we're always around and looking for something to do! I do have a lot of experience with animals and can handle clean up/medication/ walks/ feedings and most other pet associated care. I grew up working on a farm with all different kinds of animals and providing the best possible care. I'm very responsible and would love to help you out! I currently work part time and would have plenty of time and flexibility to provide your pet with the best care. I believe in routine and consistency! I don't currently have any pets, I live across the street from a dog park, and right on the bike path. I'm very active and love animals
“Our family was away for 10 days and Jess took fantastic care of our dog Penny. Penny is a bit standoffish but she cuddled right up to Jess. She took Penny on walks, played with her in the backyard and took her to the park. Would highly recommend.”

“Madeline is a great communicator and easy to schedule with. She was very attentive towards our pets and really cared for them. She’s very flexible with her schedule and was able to accommodate us within a short period of notice.”

“Alison was wonderful! My cats were very well taken care of and I got regular updates. When I came home, everything was clean and my cats were very happy. Highly recommend!”

About: Dogs are more than just pets…they’re family and vital companions in our daily lives. With over a decade of hands-on experience caring for pets of all shapes and sizes (from geckos to Great Danes), I bring a calm, attentive, and knowledgeable approach to dog sitting and walking. I am currently in a mentorship and shadow program intensive to also become a dog trainer, so your dog will also get to practice some skills with me! My journey with dogs began early with family pets and expanded into dedicated pet sitting for neighbors and friends. As a lifelong learner, I’ve spent years studying dog behavior, body language, and communication styles through training my own dog. I have experience working with reactive dogs, maintaining strict routines, and using consistent, structure to make every pup feel safe and secure. I also regularly assist a close friend who is a professional dog trainer, which has given me great insight into handling diverse personalities, energy levels, and care needs. Outside of pet care, I work as a mental health therapist. My professional background deeply informs how I interact with animals. I understand the reciprocal bond between humans and their dogs, and I treat every animal in my care with the utmost empathy, patience, and respect. What to Expect Attentive & Safety First Care: Whether keeping up with medication, supporting structured routines, or managing triggers on walks, your dog’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. Active Adventures: I love helping dogs explore! If your pup enjoys an active lifestyle, I’m happy to take them along for hikes, trail walks, or gentle runs tailored to their fitness level. Tailored Communication: You’ll receive clear, regular updates and photos so you can have complete peace of mind while you’re away. Whether your dog needs a chill check-in, a structured neighborhood stroll, or a outdoor trail adventure, I’ll provide the exact same devotion, care, and attention I give to my own dog. I look forward to meeting you and your pup! I currently work from home as a mental health therapist. I am able to make my schedule and work around your pet’s needs as needed! There will always be time for potty and play breaks. I have a large yard, as well as my dog who is crate trained. If staying at your home, I would love to be clear on your pet’s schedule so they can have consistency. I also love having adventure buddies, so if your dog likes to be out in nature for trail walks or swims, I’m your gal!
“100% recommend. Best, best friend ever! Annette was delightful to work with. She was punctual, attentive and organized. She stayed with our pups for full 4 days and she was always in touch and feeding the animals the right medications and meals. On top of that she was organized and clean. Lastly, what we enjoyed the most is that our dogs seemed very happy and relaxed with her. She is a true find and look forward to working with her in the near future.”

“Justin is reliable, communicative, and a very thoughtful house sitter! Loki and Freyja both seemed to enjoy their time with him greatly. He handled both dogs' needs well, sent lots of photo and video updates, and made me feel secure that both pups were well taken care of while I was away.”

“Natalie is fantastic! Her calendar is up-to-date, and she responds quickly. She's has an easy-going comfortable way around dogs that will make you comfortable leaving your dog with her. Our dog tends to be people shy and she loved Natalie right away.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Arlington Heights
We found Jalina on Rover, and needed both a housesitter (water plants, take in mail, etc.) as well as taking care of our pup, Ceci who is used to having some work from home and gets anxious in new spaces. Jalina was exceptional in the lead up to the stay; after a 30min video call to get to know each other and review the space (and the pup), we sent over a reference document in advance with specifics, which she reviewed promptly (and had questions on). We had an hour-long visit a few days in advance, split between going for a walk and going over the fiddly house items, which was great. On the day of departure, she arrived promptly, got settled in, and we went to the airport. We got daily updates on the dog, and Ceci seemed to have a lovely time with her, in her own space and her own routine; Jalina made sure she was very well cared for! Due to a delayed flight, we didn’t have any crossover of us getting back and her leaving, but we coordinated via messaging (super prompt) and we came back to our space just as we left it. Based on this stay with us, we’d recommend Jalina to anyone!

Ugur was an incredible cat sitter! We just moved to Boston and he took incredible care of our two cats Jackson and Kobe! They both liked him and warmed up to him quickly :) he sent consistent updates and very cute photos and followed all instructions clearly. We can back to two very healthy and happy boys! Would highly recommend Ugur for any of your pet sitting needs!

Cynthia was great with our two pups for the weekend. Cynthia was available on last minute notice, which we really appreciated! The pups seemed comfortable with her very quickly and were happy and healthy when we returned. She sent pictures and updates throughout the weekend. Great experience.

Meg was fantastic! Very easy communication, took excellent care of the cats with lots of play time and engagement. She was also wonderful with our younger one who was scared to come out of hiding at first, definitely has spent ample time with animals. Would absolutely have her watch our cats again!

Madeleine cared for Piper for a week while we were away. She communicated with us daily exclusively through the Rover app, providing updates and photos. Piper was eating and going on walks, which usually means that she is comfortable and not super anxious. I would have Madeleine back again.

Nicole was great with our two 10-year-old cattle dogs for their first overnight stay with a new sitter. She was kind, professional, and easy to talk to about all their routines and quirks beforehand, which put us at ease leaving our pups in someone new's care. Everything about the stay felt smooth and well cared for, and we're already looking forward to booking with her again!

We had a fantastic experience with Christina! She took great care of Benny(80lb pitbull meatball) while we were away and followed every instruction exactly as requested. She kept us updated with thoughtful messages and plenty of great photos, which gave us peace of mind without ever feeling excessive or disruptive. Most importantly, Benny absolutely loved her, and it was clear he was happy, comfortable, and well cared for a. Christina will be our go-to moving forward and I will absolutely recommend her to to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and professional pet sitter! Christina, thanks for being amazing!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Arlington Heights on Rover is $47.18 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of September 2026, there are 6,537 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Arlington Heights. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Arlington Heights walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Arlington Heights maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Arlington Heights choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
