“My stranger reactive dog has come SO far with Ryan’s help. He went from growling and lunging from our front porch when he saw Ryan to excitedly greeting him at the door. Every week Ryan has worked patiently with my dog, gradually teaching Bandit to trust him and how to be more brave when confronted with fears and triggers. I can’t stress enough how amazing Ryan is. If I could give him 6 stars I would!”

“Laura had an instant rapport with Wyatt--she's clearly very experienced with dogs and loves them, and is an experienced dog trainer as well. She came to our house, fed Wyatt lunch, took him on a long walk and played fetch in the back yard with him. He had a great time and was a happy, content, tired guy when I came home! Communication was very prompt and frequent, I will definitely have her care for Wyatt again.”

About: Hi I’m Christina! I’ve always loved animals and have several years of dog care experience through helping raise and care for my family dog, who is now 8 years old. I’ve regularly taken care of him for extended periods of time, including feeding, walking, playing with, etc and making sure he is comfortable and happy. I understand how important it is to have someone dependable watching over your pet, and I treat every dog with patience, attention, and care like they’re my own. I currently have a flexible schedule that allows me to dedicate quality time to pet care, walks, check-ins, and overnight stays when needed. I’m reliable with routines and communication. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I follow all care instructions carefully, keep walks safe and supervised, and make sure pets feel secure and comfortable in my care.
“Shawn was wonderful. She clearly *loves* dogs and enjoyed spending time with our lab. We appreciated the pics and updates and it gave us such peace of mind to know our dog was in very good hands. Thanks, Shawn!”

About: Dogs have always been a big part of my life. I grew up with family dogs and have always loved being around them and caring for them. I know how much pets mean to their families, and I would treat your dog like one of my own with lots of love, attention, playtime, and care. My schedule allows me to provide dependable and attentive pet care throughout the week. I work full-time from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with Wednesdays and Fridays spent working from home, which gives me flexibility for regular potty breaks, walks, and companionship during the day. I’m also available mornings and evenings to maintain your pet’s routine and ensure they feel loved and cared for while you’re away. Our home is full of love for dogs! I have an American Bully who loves other dogs and enjoys making new furry friends. My 5-year-old daughter also adores dogs and has been raised to be gentle and caring with them. We live in a wonderful dog-friendly neighborhood, perfect for walks and outdoor adventures. I will make sure your pet feels safe, welcomed, and loved while in our care just like they’re part of our own family.
“Max is reliable and great with my dog Louie! He made sure Louie was comfortable with him prior to taking him on a walk and send me plenty of updates and pictures! I highly recommend Max!”

“Lindy (Lourdes) has been so helpful walking our energetic golden retriever! She always comes reliably (with treats!) and keeps us updated on how things go. If it's wet she wipes our girl down. Our pup loves her and we rely on Lindy regularly.”
“Kaylor is the best - to us and our pup! Super easy to work with, so responsible, and goes above and beyond for our lil girl. We’ll walk with him every chance we get!!”

“Andew showed kindness and conscientiousness and respect to my elder shiba inu, while also holding the boundaries that these basal breeds need. Knowing that Andrew was walking Jaxson gave me the peace of mind to do the work in the world I am called to do. Gratitude.”

About: I’ve grown up caring for a wide range of animals and have extensive experience walking both small and large dogs; rain or shine. I tailor each walk to your dog’s needs, whether that means a relaxed pace or a more active outing while equally maintaining any training routines you’ve established. I’m also experienced with senior dogs and can provide gentle walks, rest breaks, or additional support as needed. Your dog’s safety, comfort, and happiness are always my top priority! I am a freshman university student returning back home to Massachusetts for the summer, currently working part-time. I am free most days for regular walking, but will be occupied Monday and Wednesday evenings for extracurricular classes. I am generally flexible and will manage to work around your schedule! I provide reliable and respectful in-home visits, ensuring your dog is cautiously handled and returned as instructed. I carefully follow your instructions, including access, routines, and any specific care needs, so your pet’s day stays consistent. You can trust that I treat your home and your dog with the utmost professionalism at all times.
“Helen was great with our older dog Luna - Helen had the perfect combination of patience and encouragement with her. And Helen did a good job with Luna's pills, which also required patience. Helen really seemed to like and get along with Luna, and we will definitely try to use her again.”

About: I have been around animals all my life. Grew up in the rural Midwest surrounded by dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, turtles, in addition to the cows, pigs, chickens, and horses at nearby farms. I love animals and have helped care for them all my life. I am comfortable with all kinds and sizes of dogs and love getting them out on walks/hikes and playing with them, snuggling with them indoors as well. I adore dogs and remain calm, letting them get used to me before trying to engage...letting them set the stage or lead the way. Once I get to know them I am very affectionate with them and love to play and run around with them. I currently live in my own place with my cat and would love to care for your pets in your home. I'm currently between jobs and thought I would get back to pet sitting/walking for now. I love hanging with my furry friends and getting out for brisk walks! I will spend time getting to know your pet, snuggling with them(if they want), getting them outdoors and playing with them, keeping them on their feeding schedule and caring for them like they're my own.
“Jacqueline is awesome! So patient with my crazy, energetic pup. Piper absolutely loves when Jacqueline comes for her walks and waits for her to return when she leaves!”

“This was Ruby’s first time meeting Sabine and there seemed to be an instant bond. Sabine arrived on time and was kind and attentive to Ruby. Took a long walk and sent several photos. Thank you Sabine!”

“We are so happy that we found Aysegul! From out first meeting we could tell that she loves dogs and our dogs quickly warmed up to her. She was very punctual and attentive to our dogs behaviors and needs. She is also very friendly. Highly recommend!”

“Leslie is great. He walks my two dogs, one who is an elderly golden retriever and has difficulty getting up and down and my lab rescue. Leslie is patient with my older dog. This is a big help while I am working.”

About: I've had dogs my whole life and know how to walk bathe, clip nails, feed, and do anything else that a dog may need or want. I'm currently working part-time and love animals. So I will have plenty of time to take your doggos on walks. I am available all day Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. I do not have a car so I will only be taking jobs that are walking distance or have nearby public transportation. At this time I am only offering dog walking services and house sitting between 1-3 nights on Thursday’s Friday’s and Saturday’s. I will keep your dog safe, let them sniff to their hearts content and make sure to stray away from anything they are afraid of.

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Arlington Heights
I cannot recommend Traci highly enough. From the very first day I met her, I was struck by her calm, grounded demeanor. She has a wonderful presence about her—confident, warm, and immediately reassuring. My puppy took to her right away, which is something I value tremendously. Since we began working together, I have been consistently impressed by Traci’s professionalism, organization, and communication. She is exceptionally reliable and proactive. She confirms schedules, communicates clearly, and often provides thoughtful updates and documentation that I never even thought to ask for—from extra photos of my puppy to screenshots confirming when she arrived and left my home. That level of self-imposed accountability speaks volumes about her character and work ethic. Most importantly, Traci has been incredibly patient and attentive with my puppy, who can be quite a handful. She is safety-conscious, observant, and genuinely invested in the well-being of both my dog and my home. On more than one occasion, she has noticed or communicated things that demonstrated just how seriously she takes her responsibilities. Before finding Traci, I unfortunately had a few disappointing—and at times concerning—experiences with other pet care providers. As a healthcare professional who works long shifts, one of my greatest worries after bringing home a puppy was ensuring she would be safe, cared for, and not spending long days feeling lonely or neglected while I was at work. Traci has completely put those concerns to rest. I leave for work knowing my puppy is in capable, caring hands, and that peace of mind is invaluable. She has also been remarkably flexible and accommodating whenever my schedule changes unexpectedly. Beyond being an excellent dog walker, she is simply a pleasure to work with and communicate with. She has a natural way with both animals and people, and it is obvious that she genuinely cares about the pets entrusted to her. I could not have hoped for a better person to help care for my puppy. I feel incredibly fortunate to have found her.
Megan is the best! She took such good care of Benny while we were away and Benny loves her. Megan is so responsible, trustworthy and we feel so incredibly lucky that we found her. I will arrange our vacation schedule around her schedule just to make sure that she will be the one to take care of Benny while we travel! Thanks Megan!

Omar was great with our two Rhodesian Ridgebacks during the walks before his sitting stay. He was prompt, professional, and eager to get to know them, which gave us a lot of confidence and peace of mind. The dogs responded really well to him, and it was clear he was comfortable, attentive, and trustworthy. We really appreciated him making time on short notice and helping us feel secure before leaving them in his care. Highly recommend!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
