“Sarah was wonderful with my pup Penny! Penny is used to pretty much always being by my side, and she was (unexpectedly) scared when I wasn't there. Sarah and her son took the time to coax Penny out from the under the bed and made her comfortable for future stop ins. As a pet parent, I felt much better knowing that my dog was both happier and in great hands! A very positive experience!”

About: Hi I’m Christina! I’ve always loved animals and have several years of dog care experience through helping raise and care for my family dog, who is now 8 years old. I’ve regularly taken care of him for extended periods of time, including feeding, walking, playing with, etc and making sure he is comfortable and happy. I understand how important it is to have someone dependable watching over your pet, and I treat every dog with patience, attention, and care like they’re my own. I currently have a flexible schedule that allows me to dedicate quality time to pet care, walks, check-ins, and overnight stays when needed. I’m reliable with routines and communication. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I follow all care instructions carefully, keep walks safe and supervised, and make sure pets feel secure and comfortable in my care.

About: I always love walking my dog and my friends dogs and I am very reliable and genuinely care. While I’m walking a dog I carry poop baggies, water and a water bowl, and a ball/toys. I’m open a flexible to accommodate whatever your dog needs. I also of course am well versed in dog language so I’m able to know what your dog is trying to tell me. (I also know that the rates are high so I’m always willing to negotiate if you don’t want to pay the exact set price 😁.) I’m excited to care for your dog! I’m very flexible with time. Right now I’m not at university, so I have a lot of free time to walk dogs. My main job on week days has been dog walking. I have a nice big fenced in backyard and a big house. And of course I have all the essentials for dog care like food, poop baggies, toys, and lots of dog love.

About: I am a social worker as my day job and a true empath. I love animals and treat them in the way I would want my animals to be treated. I am a type one diabetic myself and very trained in medication administration including with syringes and checking blood sugar. I am comfortable with working with puppies all the way to senior dogs. I enjoy being active and have a car, and can take your dog to the beach, lake, or for a hike. I have a 2.5 year old rescue beagle, Lunchable, who is very docile and friendly. I have a full time day job, Monday-Thursday (in the summer) as a social worker at a local college. I am able to do sittings and boardings Friday-Sunday evenings. Myself and my partner own the bottom floor of a condo in Arlington. We have a small backyard and plenty of dog supplies to make your dog feel comfortable (e.g. puppy beds).Your pet is also welcome to sleep in the bed if that is your jam :)
“Angie did a fantastic job of taking care of my old kitty. She was very responsive and we really appreciate her alerting us to a potential issue for a pet that wasn’t her responsibility!”

“Eunae did a great job looking after our cat. We were very pleased with the care he received. She was easy to communicate and plan with and responsive to all our needs. The reports on him were comprehensive and we loved hearing stories and seeing photos of our cat. We will use her again!”

“Caroline did a great job checking in on my cat while I was away on vacation. She kept everything neat and tidy, paid attention to detail, and was fast/prompt with any communication. Would definitely recommend and will rebook if needed in the future.”

“I really cant say enough about how amazing Shawn was! She was so helpful as we were leaving our dog home alone overnight for the first time and also using Rover for the first time. She was super communicative, had so many great suggestions for how to arrange visits, and answered all our questions in detail. She is very professional and you can tell she cares a lot about the dogs she watches. Would book with her again in a heartbeat!”

“Hillary was a great find in the "eleventh hour" of my search for service. She dropped in and took really good care of my dog while I was far away for the day. I felt confident from our first texts and Hillary's generous effort to come to my home for a meet n greet. Hillary followed through with great communication, lots of photos and follow up texts. I would call her again in a heartbeat and highly recommend her services ! Thank you so much!”

About: I've had dogs my whole life and know how to walk bathe, clip nails, feed, and do anything else that a dog may need or want. I'm currently working part-time and love animals. So I will have plenty of time to take your doggos on walks. I am available all day Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. I do not have a car so I will only be taking jobs that are walking distance or have nearby public transportation. At this time I am only offering dog walking services and house sitting between 1-3 nights on Thursday’s Friday’s and Saturday’s. I will keep your dog safe, let them sniff to their hearts content and make sure to stray away from anything they are afraid of.
“Max did an amazing job taking care of my cat while I was away! 🐱 He was incredibly attentive and made sure my cat felt comfortable and loved the whole time. I really appreciated the updates and photos he sent — it gave me so much peace of mind knowing my cat was in great hands. Max went above and beyond, not just feeding and cleaning up, but also spending quality time with my cat, which made a huge difference. Highly recommend Max to anyone looking for someone reliable, caring, and responsible to look after their pets. Thank you, Max, for treating my cat like your own!”

About: I have been caring for dogs, cats, and chickens since I was 10 years old! I grew up with lots of animals in rural New Hampshire, and my primary job was taking care of our pets. I’ve volunteered as a dog walker in Somerville and have provided reliable care for my friends’ and neighbors’ pets. Whether it’s daily walks, playtime, or attention, I try to ensure every pet feels safe, loved, and happy while you're away! I recently graduated with a MS degree and am employed as a programmer. I work from home and am available on Wednesday's, Friday's, and over the weekend to care for your pet! I am happy to follow any and all care instructions as requested. In your home, I’ll stick to your pet’s routine—feeding, crating, walks, playtime, and any special care they need.

About: I've loved and cared for dogs and cats my entire life! I walked dogs professionally in New York City and now call the Boston Area home. My schedule is flexible as I work from home and would love to take care of your pet any time of day. People often are surprised when their timid pup warms up to me right away; they can sense my friendly attitude. I've walked dogs large and small for short treks and long hikes. I'm great at handling the big ones and I'm always careful not to overexert the little ones. I also have experience house sitting for both cats and dogs; I'm an attentive sitter, willing to play with your pup and take him or her out for potty breaks as often as necessary. I hope you'll consider me as your walker or sitter, and I look forward to meeting your furbaby! I work flexible hours from home, so I can accommodate most schedules from midday walks to longer house sits. I can also do drop-ins before or after work. I am happy to follow any and all house rules to keep your pet happy and safe. I treat others' homes like my own and am happy to work from your home to spend more time with your pet.
About: I have been around animals all my life. Grew up in the rural Midwest surrounded by dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, turtles, in addition to the cows, pigs, chickens, and horses at nearby farms. I love animals and have helped care for them all my life. I am comfortable with all kinds and sizes of dogs and love getting them out on walks/hikes and playing with them, snuggling with them indoors as well. I adore dogs and remain calm, letting them get used to me before trying to engage...letting them set the stage or lead the way. Once I get to know them I am very affectionate with them and love to play and run around with them. I currently live in my own place with my cat and would love to care for your pets in your home. I'm currently between jobs and thought I would get back to pet sitting/walking for now. I love hanging with my furry friends and getting out for brisk walks! I will spend time getting to know your pet, snuggling with them(if they want), getting them outdoors and playing with them, keeping them on their feeding schedule and caring for them like they're my own.
About: I am a freelance artist by trade, I'm looking to earn some supplementary by putting to good use my love of animals and experience as a lifetime pet owner. I have been the primary caretaker for animals basically my whole life, growing up alongside furry siblings as long as I can reliably remember, including several dogs with behavioral issues such as separation anxiety and jealousy problems. My mother trained as a vet tech and taught me a lot, and is always happy to help even now if I need an extra hand or some expert advice. I have trained dogs, including potty training and dissuading problem behaviors (excessive barking, begging for food, etc.) I have experience caring for dogs in individual, group, and playgroup settings and love all animals. I cannot drive but I can engage in light to moderate dog walking just fine! I use public transport and ridesharing to get around. If you have any further questions about what might be within my wheelhouse feel more than free to ask! As a freelance artist, my schedule for work is fairly flexible and I can plan around pet care time and stays away from home with a lot of freedom, making it possible for me to keep my schedule fluid and make the animal in my care the priority of my routine. I have an apartment in Arlington I spend most of my time at but it's not the best for pets so for boarding jobs I visit and make use of my parents home in Winchester. They and their dog love the company! It has a fenced outdoor area where dogs can easily run, play, and of course go to the bathroom. It is accessible via a basement door and most dogs get the hang of it pretty easily (but I am happy to provide extra help for dogs who struggle with stairs or need other extra accomodations.) It is also home to my parents who love furry guests, and of course Emma, an extremely friendly and patient English Setter who adores playing hostess! I am also of course happy to visit other homes to care for pets, both for drop ins and overnight. I will always take the safety and cleanliness of your home seriously! In other's homes I'm happy to adapt to what resources are available and what areas and routines the dog is generally used to and comfortable with in their own usual environment!

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Arlington Heights
This was my third time booking Anneke for drop-in visits to take care of my two cats while I'm out of town. She is fantastic! She is very reliable and clearly cares about the happiness of my pets. She always checks in to make sure my travel home isn't delayed so the cats don't go too long without food. I feel very confident leaving my fur babies at home knowing Anneke will visit them.

Marina took great care of my cat. He is young with a lot of energy and she spent the time to really play with him and learn what he likes during her AM and PM visits. Her daily notes are very detailed and I felt 100% comfortable with having her in charge for a week. I would highly recommend her.

Karen really made sure my shy and elderly kitties got their medication. Sweety requires oral gel on her paws two times a day and has just decided that is so yesterday, making it not an easy task. Karen was able to get Sweety to take her oral medication 2x per day, which can even require a game of chase. My Kitties have trouble keeping weight on with their age and other health factors. I came home to plumper happy and calm kitties! I HIGHLY recommend Karen.

Traci was absolutely amazing with my cats, all of whom can be kind of shy around relative strangers. She sent me detailed updates and photos which were much appreciated. In the short time she spent with them, Traci was able to really tune in to their distinct personalities, needs and play styles to make them feel safe and loved while I was gone.

Amazing experience!! Seiko is the best! This was our first time using a cat sitter so we were a bit nervous, but Seiko is so kind and caring, it immediately put us at ease. She was super reliable and thorough, taking care of everything Toast needed and spending time playing and bonding with her at each visit. Toasty is a fairly timid cat, especially around new people, but she was comfortable with Seiko surprisingly quickly! We were able to fully enjoy our vacation knowing that Toasty was in great hands. Seiko sent detailed updates and adorable pics each time as well, which were so reassuring and fun to look through while we were away. Would highly recommend her to anyone- we can’t thank you enough, Seiko!!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
