“Shawn dropped in to take care of our two cats multiple days during our long vacation. It was a huge relief knowing they were in good hands and getting photos each day. She followed our detailed feeding instructions that involved wet food with medication mixed in, and measuring out dry food on a scale. She also gave us detailed updates on their behavior and it was clear she really cared about their comfort and mood while we were gone. Thank you Shawn, would definitely book again!”

“Bonnie was amazing! She came by for a meet and greet before we booked and asked so many thoughtful questions. While we were gone she sent detailed updates and lots of pics, and our cats seemed to really like her. She also went above and beyond, offering to do things we hadn’t even asked her to do just to help out. Our power also unexpectedly went out during our trip and she handled that situation very well and kept us reassured that our cats were fine. I will definitely book again and recommend her to anybody!”

“Eunae is an extremely reliable & caring sitter! This was the 2nd time Eunae was caring for our senior cat who needed daily oral meds. She took amazing g care of him, providing cuddles, brushing & a lap when he needed to be comforted. Easy communication, lots of photos & detailed daily updates which were greatly appreciated since we were away for 2 weeks. Highly recommend!”
“Caroline did a great job checking in on my cat while I was away on vacation. She kept everything neat and tidy, paid attention to detail, and was fast/prompt with any communication. Would definitely recommend and will rebook if needed in the future.”

“Hillary was a great find in the "eleventh hour" of my search for service. She dropped in and took really good care of my dog while I was far away for the day. I felt confident from our first texts and Hillary's generous effort to come to my home for a meet n greet. Hillary followed through with great communication, lots of photos and follow up texts. I would call her again in a heartbeat and highly recommend her services ! Thank you so much!”

“Blane was super organized— reached out in advance to come meet the kitties and see the house. The updates we got were so full of love and we 100% knew the cats were in good hands. It was also very easy to ask for a few extra things like making sure the AC was on and the windows were closed when the weather changed. Thanks so much!! We’ll definitely be repeat customers.”

“Anneke is kind and very tuned in to our cats and their different personalities. She gave them great care while we were away including giving medication. When our outdoor cat wouldn’t come in, she went back multiple times until she did! Highly recommend!”

About: I've loved and cared for dogs and cats my entire life! I walked dogs professionally in New York City and now call the Boston Area home. My schedule is flexible as I work from home and would love to take care of your pet any time of day. People often are surprised when their timid pup warms up to me right away; they can sense my friendly attitude. I've walked dogs large and small for short treks and long hikes. I'm great at handling the big ones and I'm always careful not to overexert the little ones. I also have experience house sitting for both cats and dogs; I'm an attentive sitter, willing to play with your pup and take him or her out for potty breaks as often as necessary. I hope you'll consider me as your walker or sitter, and I look forward to meeting your furbaby! I work flexible hours from home, so I can accommodate most schedules from midday walks to longer house sits. I can also do drop-ins before or after work. I am happy to follow any and all house rules to keep your pet happy and safe. I treat others' homes like my own and am happy to work from your home to spend more time with your pet.
“Samantha took wonderful care of my cat while I was away for 7 days, and I really appreciated her updates and how perceptive she was about how my cat was doing. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was taken care of!”

About: I always love walking my dog and my friends dogs and I am very reliable and genuinely care. While I’m walking a dog I carry poop baggies, water and a water bowl, and a ball/toys. I’m open a flexible to accommodate whatever your dog needs. I also of course am well versed in dog language so I’m able to know what your dog is trying to tell me. (I also know that the rates are high so I’m always willing to negotiate if you don’t want to pay the exact set price 😁.) I’m excited to care for your dog! I’m very flexible with time. Right now I’m not at university, so I have a lot of free time to walk dogs. My main job on week days has been dog walking. I have a nice big fenced in backyard and a big house. And of course I have all the essentials for dog care like food, poop baggies, toys, and lots of dog love.
About: I am a freelance artist by trade, I'm looking to earn some supplementary by putting to good use my love of animals and experience as a lifetime pet owner. I have been the primary caretaker for animals basically my whole life, growing up alongside furry siblings as long as I can reliably remember, including several dogs with behavioral issues such as separation anxiety and jealousy problems. My mother trained as a vet tech and taught me a lot, and is always happy to help even now if I need an extra hand or some expert advice. I have trained dogs, including potty training and dissuading problem behaviors (excessive barking, begging for food, etc.) I have experience caring for dogs in individual, group, and playgroup settings and love all animals. I cannot drive but I can engage in light to moderate dog walking just fine! I use public transport and ridesharing to get around. If you have any further questions about what might be within my wheelhouse feel more than free to ask! As a freelance artist, my schedule for work is fairly flexible and I can plan around pet care time and stays away from home with a lot of freedom, making it possible for me to keep my schedule fluid and make the animal in my care the priority of my routine. I have an apartment in Arlington I spend most of my time at but it's not the best for pets so for boarding jobs I visit and make use of my parents home in Winchester. They and their dog love the company! It has a fenced outdoor area where dogs can easily run, play, and of course go to the bathroom. It is accessible via a basement door and most dogs get the hang of it pretty easily (but I am happy to provide extra help for dogs who struggle with stairs or need other extra accomodations.) It is also home to my parents who love furry guests, and of course Emma, an extremely friendly and patient English Setter who adores playing hostess! I am also of course happy to visit other homes to care for pets, both for drop ins and overnight. I will always take the safety and cleanliness of your home seriously! In other's homes I'm happy to adapt to what resources are available and what areas and routines the dog is generally used to and comfortable with in their own usual environment!
“Sabine was great. She took care of my big girl Maine Coon Suka. She was professional and you could tell she loves animals and that she new how to interact with cats. Suka came up to her and let her pet her on the meet and greet. I would hire Sabine again.”

“My dog, Rosie, LOVED Tira! Rosie can be pretty tricky: she's not the easiest to walk because she doesn't like other dogs and likes rabbits/squirrels a bit too much, but Tira put me at ease right away. Tira clearly has had years of experience with dogs; she knew exactly how to handle Rosie to keep her safe and happy. Will definitely be booking with Tira again soon!”

“Will did a FANTASTIC job taking care of my 3 crazy Bengals. I was very nervous because this was my first time leaving them with someone since they were kittens and also my first time using Rover. We communicated while I was gone and he told me what everyone was up to, which really put my mind at ease…took goofy pictures, and I I could tell the litter boxes were changed and they had plenty of food and water. 💦. More importantly, they seemed very happy and chill, so clearly had been taken care of with attention and kindness. So altogether, I could enjoy my trip and not stress about leaving them at home. Thank you, Will. Great sitter!😻😻👍”

“Anneliese was a great sitter who was able to jump in after I found her with minimal notice. She was communicative about the visits and she was prompt with her timing. She did a great job with the pets, administering medicine for one of the cats and doing the food and litter box as needed. She sent photos and the cats seemed to love her! Would definitely connect with Anneliese for any subsequent pet care needs. Thanks again!”

Marina took great care of my cat. He is young with a lot of energy and she spent the time to really play with him and learn what he likes during her AM and PM visits. Her daily notes are very detailed and I felt 100% comfortable with having her in charge for a week. I would highly recommend her.

Amanda did a great job and I could tell my cats grew to be very comfy with her. She did everything to take care of them and I appreciated the report cards and pictures. When I arrived home my cats were happy and showed no signs of anxiety after me being away on a trip. My cats were in good hands and I would recommend Amanda to others!

Ilgin did a fantastic job watching my cat, Mrs. Noodles! This was my first time using Rover and Ilgin put me at ease immediately. She was extremely responsive, timely, and sent me wonderful updates/photos! I will absolutely ask Ilgin to look after Mrs. Noodles again!

Julia has helped watch my cats multiple times over the last year, and she has consistently done an amazing job. I appreciate her punctuality, quick responses, and the effort put into each check-in card. On her most recent visit, she went above and beyond, brushing my cats and cleaning up some messes. My experience with Julia has been distinctly different from other sitters on rover in all of the best ways, and that is why I keep going back. Highly recommend her for your pets as well!

Karen really made sure my shy and elderly kitties got their medication. Sweety requires oral gel on her paws two times a day and has just decided that is so yesterday, making it not an easy task. Karen was able to get Sweety to take her oral medication 2x per day, which can even require a game of chase. My Kitties have trouble keeping weight on with their age and other health factors. I came home to plumper happy and calm kitties! I HIGHLY recommend Karen.

Hope was fantastic! She took great care of my cat and was very communicative throughout my week away, sending detailed updates and photos. It gave me real peace of mind while I was traveling. I would happily book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring pet sitter.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Arlington. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
