“Alyssa was so kind and communicative! She was so caring and respectful to my cat and gave me so much peace of mind while I was traveling for the week. I'm endlessly grateful and can't recommend her enough to other cat owners!!”

“Hillary was a great find in the "eleventh hour" of my search for service. She dropped in and took really good care of my dog while I was far away for the day. I felt confident from our first texts and Hillary's generous effort to come to my home for a meet n greet. Hillary followed through with great communication, lots of photos and follow up texts. I would call her again in a heartbeat and highly recommend her services ! Thank you so much!”

“Zika did a great job watching my cat! He provided me with a timely update as well as a variety of cute pics. I was very happy with the communication. I’ll definitely reach out again.”

“I really cant say enough about how amazing Shawn was! She was so helpful as we were leaving our dog home alone overnight for the first time and also using Rover for the first time. She was super communicative, had so many great suggestions for how to arrange visits, and answered all our questions in detail. She is very professional and you can tell she cares a lot about the dogs she watches. Would book with her again in a heartbeat!”

“Sharon was great! She was very attentive, and our kittens loved her. It was our first time leaving our kittens for an extended time, but we felt comfortable with Sharon checking in on them daily. We also loved the daily pictures and updates. I would recommend Sharon to anyone looking for a cat sitter, and we will definitely be booking her again!”

“Caroline did a great job checking in on my cat while I was away on vacation. She kept everything neat and tidy, paid attention to detail, and was fast/prompt with any communication. Would definitely recommend and will rebook if needed in the future.”

“Will is the BEST!! He provided great updates and the cutest pictures of our cat! I could tell my cat loved him and I felt so comfortable knowing that he was under Will's care. Will is super responsive and goes above and beyond - I recommend him to anyone!”
“Eleanor is great! Lister needed some drop in visits and warmed up to her pretty quick. She even took him for a walk around the block and was quite intuitive about when Lister was in a mood to walk and when not. Great communication! Would definitely book again”

“We’ve been searching for a new cat sitter since our most recent sitter moved away. Anneke has perfectly filled that role. I feel incredibly lucky to have met her on the first try as I would confidently reach out to her again for help with drop-ins for our 3 cats. Anneke took care of my 3 cats (1 diabetic on insulin, 1 FIV+, and 1 very timid cat) with twice a day drop-ins for 1 week. She was easy to work with from the moment I reached out to her. We made sure to have a meet and greet about 1 week ahead of the reservation. Anneke asked important questions that showed she was familiar with administering insulin, absorbed an incredible amount of info about 3 cats in ~30 mins, and it was clear that she’s had extensive experience with cats, which is hard to come by on a dog-centric app like Rover. Even though she travelled by bike and bus from Arlington to N. Cambridge, she was always reliably on time and never once needed to adjust any one of the 14 drop-ins. She was quick to pick up on how to adjust Theodore’s insulin based on the amount of food consumed and quickly learned each cat’s personalities. She alerted me to an unusually warm apartment (78F in March) and followed my instructions to leave the window open at the next visit without issue. Anneke communicated just enough with me to notify of important highlights but never so much that I felt anxious. She left our home exactly as it was. We hope to rely on her for future drop-ins! Thank you, Anneke!”

About: I am a freelance artist by trade, I'm looking to earn some supplementary by putting to good use my love of animals and experience as a lifetime pet owner. I have been the primary caretaker for animals basically my whole life, growing up alongside furry siblings as long as I can reliably remember, including several dogs with behavioral issues such as separation anxiety and jealousy problems. My mother trained as a vet tech and taught me a lot, and is always happy to help even now if I need an extra hand or some expert advice. I have trained dogs, including potty training and dissuading problem behaviors (excessive barking, begging for food, etc.) I have experience caring for dogs in individual, group, and playgroup settings and love all animals. I cannot drive but I can engage in light to moderate dog walking just fine! I use public transport and ridesharing to get around. If you have any further questions about what might be within my wheelhouse feel more than free to ask! As a freelance artist, my schedule for work is fairly flexible and I can plan around pet care time and stays away from home with a lot of freedom, making it possible for me to keep my schedule fluid and make the animal in my care the priority of my routine. I have an apartment in Arlington I spend most of my time at but it's not the best for pets so for boarding jobs I visit and make use of my parents home in Winchester. They and their dog love the company! It has a fenced outdoor area where dogs can easily run, play, and of course go to the bathroom. It is accessible via a basement door and most dogs get the hang of it pretty easily (but I am happy to provide extra help for dogs who struggle with stairs or need other extra accomodations.) It is also home to my parents who love furry guests, and of course Emma, an extremely friendly and patient English Setter who adores playing hostess! I am also of course happy to visit other homes to care for pets, both for drop ins and overnight. I will always take the safety and cleanliness of your home seriously! In other's homes I'm happy to adapt to what resources are available and what areas and routines the dog is generally used to and comfortable with in their own usual environment!
“she’s amazing and after she learned I am Deaf, she finds a way to communicate with me. I truly appreciate that. my cat likes her a lot. I recommend her to pet sitting your furkids and I trust her. I definitely will have her again in the future.”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Arlington
This was our first experience with a pet sitter since moving to the United States, so I was a little nervous about leaving our house keys with someone. I was also worried because my English is not very good and I wasn’t sure if I would be able to communicate my wishes clearly. However, she was incredibly kind, caring, and clearly someone who truly loves animals. She made us feel completely comfortable and gave us great peace of mind while we were away. I would absolutely ask her to take care of our precious cats again in the future. Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of them!

Meg was a fantastic with our two older cats who require a little extra in their age, and they both warmed up to her immediately. She easily took on daily meds for one who can be difficult and gave lots of attention overall to both cats. She was very responsive and sent great updates so I didn't worry at all. She even swept up litter and did kitty dishes before she left! Thank you, Meg!

Amanda took great care of Sasha and even went the extra mile by scooping her litter box and providing fresh water (when all I asked was for her to give new wet food)! She sent lots of pictures and I came back home to a happy cat. What I appreciated most about Amanda was her ability to read and respect Sasha's boundaries!

Ilgin was great! She was super super punctual for every visit which I really appreciated and she took great care of our cats while we were out of town. She was very responsive and took great pictures during each visit. Our cats seemed to really enjoy her visits and I would definitely book again.

Eunae was great! I recently moved to the area and had to find a new sitter for my cat who can be anxious with new people. He needs medication given and lots of social interaction and Eunae sat with him every day giving him time for pets and cuddles after his meds/treats. She followed directions well and gave great updates. Thanks for taking care of my boy! Would definitely book again.

Shannon did a great job watching our cat for a week. She was very responsive, conscientious, and considerate in her communications and in her care for our cat. We really appreciate having someone as reliable as Shannon and will definitely be asking her to cat sit for us again!

Gillian is always so responsive, thorough, and takes excellent care of Maya whenever I’m away! She is very detailed and thoughtful and I never have to worry. She always goes above & beyond- highly recommend and will always rebook with Gillian whenever she’s available!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Arlington. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
