“We have been using Shawn for over 6 months for weekday drop-in visits with a very elderly dog. Shawn has been 100% reliable and a total pro the one time that the dog became very ill while home alone in the morning. Shawn invented a new outside game for our 13-yr-old pup, and now the dog wants to play the Shawn game anytime we are in the yard. We feel extremely fortunate to have found Shawn on Rover…she gives us total peace of mind that our wonderful dog is well-cared for. Shawn is completely trustworthy and totally dedicated to the well-being of our pet.”

“Sasha was a diligent and kind sitter for our cat. He’s an energetic cat but Sasha kept him entertained, loved, and most importantly safe during the holiday season. I highly recommend you retain her services.”

I am at home all the time, and your dog will have my undivided attention I'm home all day, except for running a quick errand or two, so your pet will have my undivided attention! I also love going on walks or runs and cuddling with your fur baby if they'll let me I have a fenced yard where your dog can have supervised playtime and a large living room where your pet and I can hang out. I'm also happy to run or walk walk your dog as often as needed! I can offer intense and safe play for high energy dogs. “Eunae looked after our senior cat (18 years old) with great care and attention. She was extremely responsive & provided detailed updates on him while we were away. She gave him daily oral meds & provided a detailed report on hiw he was doing. Highly recommend Eunae!”
“Hillary was a great find in the "eleventh hour" of my search for service. She dropped in and took really good care of my dog while I was far away for the day. I felt confident from our first texts and Hillary's generous effort to come to my home for a meet n greet. Hillary followed through with great communication, lots of photos and follow up texts. I would call her again in a heartbeat and highly recommend her services ! Thank you so much!”

About: I am a freelance artist by trade, I'm looking to earn some supplementary by putting to good use my love of animals and experience as a lifetime pet owner. I have been the primary caretaker for animals basically my whole life, growing up alongside furry siblings as long as I can reliably remember, including several dogs with behavioral issues such as separation anxiety and jealousy problems. My mother trained as a vet tech and taught me a lot, and is always happy to help even now if I need an extra hand or some expert advice. I have trained dogs, including potty training and dissuading problem behaviors (excessive barking, begging for food, etc.) I have experience caring for dogs in individual, group, and playgroup settings and love all animals. I cannot drive but I can engage in light to moderate dog walking just fine! I use public transport and ridesharing to get around. If you have any further questions about what might be within my wheelhouse feel more than free to ask! As a freelance artist, my schedule for work is fairly flexible and I can plan around pet care time and stays away from home with a lot of freedom, making it possible for me to keep my schedule fluid and make the animal in my care the priority of my routine. I have an apartment in Arlington I spend most of my time at but it's not the best for pets so for boarding jobs I visit and make use of my parents home in Winchester. They and their dog love the company! It has a fenced outdoor area where dogs can easily run, play, and of course go to the bathroom. It is accessible via a basement door and most dogs get the hang of it pretty easily (but I am happy to provide extra help for dogs who struggle with stairs or need other extra accomodations.) It is also home to my parents who love furry guests, and of course Emma, an extremely friendly and patient English Setter who adores playing hostess! I am also of course happy to visit other homes to care for pets, both for drop ins and overnight. I will always take the safety and cleanliness of your home seriously! In other's homes I'm happy to adapt to what resources are available and what areas and routines the dog is generally used to and comfortable with in their own usual environment!
“Sarah was wonderful with my pup Penny! Penny is used to pretty much always being by my side, and she was (unexpectedly) scared when I wasn't there. Sarah and her son took the time to coax Penny out from the under the bed and made her comfortable for future stop ins. As a pet parent, I felt much better knowing that my dog was both happier and in great hands! A very positive experience!”

About: We are a family in Arlington without any pets of our own, but lots of love and willingness to care for your pet in our home so you can enjoy your time away. Our neighborhood is safe for walks days and nights, and we have a fenced in backyard with plenty of room to run. We follow your routine, so please let us know of any preferences or restrictions, both dietary and behavioral. We offer lots of outside time, hugs and kisses! Your pet can sleep wherever they prefer, on the couch, in our bed, or in their crate (per your request only). We don't walk pets off lease unless we are at a dog park, and we stay with them in the yard, in particular at night, so they are never left unattended. We have two boys, age 13 years old, who are very active and love to run and play with dogs and are gentle with them. The adults in the family work mostly from home, so someone will be with your pet at all times. We prefer to do a meet and greet so we can see how your dog will fit into our home as well as get to know its habits and preferences. We make sure we have the time right after drop off to go for a walk with your dog so they get faster acclimated attention during the day. We are loving with the dogs we are sitting and make sure they get lots of outside and play time as needed during the day. We also don't give food from the table and are careful with treats, using only ones we have already checked with you. Since we don’t have any dogs or pets of our own, we have the time and attention to focus on your pet.
“Ashley is so good with our anxious pup. He sometimes goes on little hunger strikes, and this was the case when we left, but Ashley was very patient and kind, going at Kiba’s pace and even had fed him some meals. She was very flexible and was able to work with us when we had last minute work travel. This is not the first time we have booked with Ashley and will not be the last!”

“Sharon did an excellent job caring for Puck while we were away for the holidays. She shared regular updates on him and he seemed very happy. I would definitely use her again.”

“Zijia (Max) did such a great job! I have two older kitties that require extra care including daily oral medication, so I’m always nervous leaving them, but Max was so helpful! He came over ahead of my trip to learn how best to take care of them, offered suggestions for giving my kitties meds, and sent thorough updates while I was away. Would definitely recommend Max!”

“Caroline was available during a busy time of year and super flexible to accommodate a 30-min visit with my cat, Ms. M. We scheduled a quick check-in visit beforehand and she met Ms. M for about 30 minutes, reviewed any instructions, and I left her a set of keys. I appreciated having someone to make sure my cat had a bowl of wet food and some company while I am away for a week. Caroline was also flexible in setting up a time to handoff my spare set of keys. All and all it was a smooth experience and I’d recommend Caroline to others looking for cat care!”

“This is the second time Anneke has sat for my 3 cats. One is an insulin-dependent diabetic. Anneke has extensive experience with cats which can be hard to come by on Rover. Even though Anneke didn’t provide summaries after each visit, I found that it was much better for me as a pet parent to receive less frequent “business as usual” updates. But she would absolutely provide more frequent updates when I requested in the past. Anneke is dependable and a problem solver. I continue to trust her with caring for my elderly cats!”

“Tira was amazing and immediately put our family at ease. She cared for our cat for a full week while we were out of town for the holidays and was always quick to provide updates and thoughtful suggestions to help make our cat more comfortable. Our cat warmed up to her very quickly—which is rare—and Tira truly went above and beyond in terms of care. She is kind, thoughtful, and proactive, and we sincerely hope she will be available to help us again in the future.”

Isabella was thoughtful and her care for animals is evident. She sent along plenty of pictures and detailed updates with each check-in, which helped put me at ease when I was away. She is reliable and communicates well. Anyone would be lucky to have Isabella watch their pet!

Kat was wonderful with Lumi! Her experience in taking care of kitties meant she knew exactly what questions to ask when we did our meet and greet. She knew how to play with Lumi, clean the litter box, brush her coat, and give treats as needed. Kat was reliable and gave great updates that we enjoyed reading. She left our place clean and tidy. We highly recommend Kat!

Bonnie is an absolute gem! She is always communicative, patient and caring with our sassy cat Otis. He gets very anxious while we’re away but with Bonnie we know he is in the best of hands! There is no one else we would trust quite like Bonnie with our little guy ☺️

We are thrilled we found Alyssa! It's clear she puts a lot of care into pet sitting. She put us at ease while we were on vacation for a week. She took care of our cat, played with her and gave her food. She communicated the appropriate amount and even took care of our cat's throw up. We appreciated the daily reports and photos. We will definitely book her again. :)

Shannon did a really wonderful job caring for her cat while we were on vacation. She was responsive, thoughtful, easy to work with, conscientious about taking care of the cat and other logistics, and also was kind enough to take out our recycling bin one day so we didn’t miss our biweekly pickup. She is one of our go to cat sitters and we would highly recommend her!

Marina was the best sitter for our sassy little cat Cookie! Cookie seemed to be having a better play time with Marina than us! Marina also left detailed notes, sent us lots of photos of Cookie, and made sure all the automated systems (litter, water, food) were running properly. Cookie doesn’t usually hop on other people’s laps but Marina managed to get Cookie on her lap the second visit - we were so surprised. Marina is indeed a car whisperer! Definitely recommend Marina as a cat sitter.

We had a great experience with Allison caring for my 7-year-old large longhair cat, who has pica (a plastic-eating habit) and needs medication twice a day. Since he gets stressed if left alone too long, we booked two one-hour visits a day, and Allison was reliable and attentive every time. She followed all instructions carefully, but most importantly, she genuinely cares about my cat. He was happy, purring, safe, and healthy thanks to her professionalism and responsibility. She sent me regular updates on his condition, medication, eating habits, and litter box use, along with lots of photos. I was very worried about leaving him, but knowing he was in good hands let me focus on my business and relax. It was such a positive, successful experience for both of us. I can actually tell he missed her — she must have spent a lot of time playing and talking with him!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
