About: I’ve been doing drop-in visits for friends and family’s pets since I was 15. Never had a pet myself due to my parents’ allergies, so I love giving extra love and attention to other peoples’ furry friends. When I was a junior in high school I even built a local dog park for my Girl Scout Gold Award project, just to help local dogs have more fun letting out their energy. I’m happy to attend to your animals specific wants, like a snuggly or energetic pet, or one of those pets that has a little hidey hole to check in on. My work schedule is hybrid, so I can easily care for your pet while working. I’m always working from home Mondays and Fridays, and I can take on any other day of the week as well, as long as I have a few days notice. I’m happy to meet with your pet ahead of time to let them get to know me while you’re home. I’m used to building trust slowly over time with animals.
About: I'm an experienced dog-sitter and equestrian who's able to care for dogs of all ages, sizes, and medical needs. I work from home and am able to provide specified care for your pup while you're away, including: frequent walks, hikes in local conservation areas, and the administration of medications. I supervise dogs closely, can provide basic veterinary care, and live near an emergency veterinary office, just in case. I have my own dog in the home. When your dog is with me, they'll be cared for like my own with plenty of exercise, socialization, and love. I work remotely, so my schedule is flexible. I currently walk and feed my own dog at 7:00am, noonish, 5:00pm, and 9:30pm. I can provide numerous walks for your dog each day during the week, and will take them local "adventures" on the weekends to local parks, Middlesex Fells Reservation, etc. My own dog is friendly and playful, and will keep your pet company.
“Andew showed kindness and conscientiousness and respect to my elder shiba inu, while also holding the boundaries that these basal breeds need. Knowing that Andrew was walking Jaxson gave me the peace of mind to do the work in the world I am called to do. Gratitude.”
“Ashley is absolutely wonderful with my dog Gracie and is very accommodating and flexible. Gracie is quite timid and skittish and Ashley is great with her! Would highly recommend!”

About: I’m a lifelong animal lover and currently have an 11-year-old French Bulldog, so I understand the importance of patient, attentive care and maintaining pets’ routines and comfort. My sweet dog lives with my mom at the moment, so I miss her dearly and hope to get my fill of dog love on Rover! In addition to caring for my own dog, I’ve provided boarding and drop-in visits for many dogs of different ages, sizes, and temperaments. I’m experienced with feeding routines, walks, administering basic care, and making pets feel safe and relaxed while their owners are away. I always prioritize clear communication and send regular photo updates (I certainly demand many from my mom and would provide the same for you!) so owners feel confident their pets are in good hands. I'm currently working part-time, so I will have plenty of availability to take care of your darling pup or kitty. I am available most weekends and weekday early evenings. Whether I’m caring for pets in my home or in a client’s home, I always focus on creating a calm, safe, and comfortable environment that keeps pets as close to their normal routine as possible. I pay close attention to feeding schedules, exercise needs, medications or special instructions, and each pet’s individual personality and comfort level. In my home, I maintain a clean, pet-friendly environment with plenty of supervision, attention, and opportunities for play and rest. I have experience caring for both energetic dogs and older pets, including my own 11-year-old French Bulldog, so I understand the importance of patience, safety, and routine. In clients’ homes, I respect both the pet’s routine and the owner’s space. During drop-in visits or house sitting, I make sure pets receive plenty of attention, exercise, bathroom breaks, fresh water, and affection. I also provide regular updates and photos so owners feel informed and reassured while they’re away. My goal is always to help pets feel safe, relaxed, and well cared for.
“Shawn always takes such great care of my boy Westley! She comes up with all sorts of clever games to play with him, which he absolutely loves! She also sends the most beautiful photos in her updates- like seriously, I have a collection of photos from her that I want to get framed, they're that good!”

“Eunae was great! She met Audrey beforehand and made sure she understood Audrey’s needs and personality. She was timely and provided lots of photos which I appreciated!”

“Tanya took such good care of Poppy! Poppy loved to see her come and happily went on the walks to roll in the grass and smell every little thing! Tanya had patience! Poppy will miss her!!!”

About: Hello! My name is Abigail and I have been taking care of pets for about 8 years. I have rescued two seniors and taken care of multiple dogs between the ages of 1 to 12. I am a go to sitter for my family and neighbors. I have experience taking care of disabled dogs and multiple years of administering medications (pills, liquid medication, ear drops, eye drops). I am a junior at Texas Tech university but Boston is home for every school break. I would love to provide housesitting/walking services in your home to minimize disruption for your pet while you are out of town or out and about. I will leave your place exactly as you left it and I will care for your pets exactly how I have always cared for my own. I love to be involved in the daily routine of pets that I am caring for. I am very accommodating to their routines. I am up for spending lots of time helping them to burn off energy or sit and be calm while petting them if that is more their speed. I can do long walks or short walks, play time, snack time and/or dinner time. I will care for your pets exactly as you would and I welcome as much detail as you would like to provide. There is nothing too big or too small for me to do! I am happy to go exactly at your pets pace.

“Brooke was super prompt and communicative. I appreciated the information she shared about how the dog walk went, including photos. She was available on very short notice, which was extremely helpful.”

“Mary Kate did a wonderful caring for my chiweenie for the last 2 weeks. Planning on having her as a long term walker. She is flexible, keeps you updated during walks and reliable!”

“Zijia was an excellent dog walker! Bear can be very stubborn with new people but he was clearly very patient with her. I received lots of updates about Bear and he was very prompt with answering. Would definitely use Zijia again!”

About: I am a freelance artist by trade, I'm looking to earn some supplementary by putting to good use my love of animals and experience as a lifetime pet owner. I have been the primary caretaker for animals basically my whole life, growing up alongside furry siblings as long as I can reliably remember, including several dogs with behavioral issues such as separation anxiety and jealousy problems. My mother trained as a vet tech and taught me a lot, and is always happy to help even now if I need an extra hand or some expert advice. I have trained dogs, including potty training and dissuading problem behaviors (excessive barking, begging for food, etc.) I have experience caring for dogs in individual, group, and playgroup settings and love all animals. I cannot drive but I can engage in light to moderate dog walking just fine! I use public transport and ridesharing to get around. If you have any further questions about what might be within my wheelhouse feel more than free to ask! As a freelance artist, my schedule for work is fairly flexible and I can plan around pet care time and stays away from home with a lot of freedom, making it possible for me to keep my schedule fluid and make the animal in my care the priority of my routine. I have an apartment in Arlington I spend most of my time at but it's not the best for pets so for boarding jobs I visit and make use of my parents home in Winchester. They and their dog love the company! It has a fenced outdoor area where dogs can easily run, play, and of course go to the bathroom. It is accessible via a basement door and most dogs get the hang of it pretty easily (but I am happy to provide extra help for dogs who struggle with stairs or need other extra accomodations.) It is also home to my parents who love furry guests, and of course Emma, an extremely friendly and patient English Setter who adores playing hostess! I am also of course happy to visit other homes to care for pets, both for drop ins and overnight. I will always take the safety and cleanliness of your home seriously! In other's homes I'm happy to adapt to what resources are available and what areas and routines the dog is generally used to and comfortable with in their own usual environment!
About: Spent extensive time caring after my families dogs & cats as well as the pets of my neighborhood. I also look after my friends cats and dogs of Boston and Maine. Comfortable with walking, playing with, feeding, and even some light training with dogs. I don’t have certifications with dog training but I would be happy to reinforce training you do with them for some light commands. I work in sales in a fairly fluid environment. I spend some time at home and the rest of my time around the city and greater Boston. Drop in pet care/walking fits perfectly into my schedule as I can work from my computer and travel when needed. I do have a fenced in yard but I’m not currently accepting pet care in my own home outside of the critters I already have. I may open up to this in the future but I do use a lot of space In my car already.
About: i have handled all kinds of animals but have kitties and a dog of my own . I’d love to sit for any pet of yours My schedule this summer is completely free for new pet sitting jobs! I have recently graduated so I have a lot of availability weekdays and weekends. I provide in client house pet care for any animals, as well as dog walking services. I will always make sure the pet is comfortable and put your needs first!
“Ryan is great and both an excitement and a comfort to our large (sometimes anxious) dog. So great to make sure our pup has the exercise she needs even when we aren’t able to provide it personally. Not only would I hire Ryan again, I have and plan to do so in the future!”

“I could not recommend Hillary enough! She is kind, patient, communicative and takes the best photos of the best adventures 🥰 She is the perfect choice for someone to trust with your pet!”

Susie saved us for last minute walks with my partner’s broken leg and me out of town for work. She was so patient to meet tulip, who’s been protective of the home with partner injury barking at strangers entering our home. She knelt down and calmly waited for tulip to settle and then did some tricks/commands before taking her out to walk to develop trust in tulip. Thanks !

Kaylor is a fabulous dog walker! He walked my dog Margot 3x per week for the past year, and he is dependable, always coming within the time block we requested; he is an excellent communicator, always letting me know if something came up last minute that would change the schedule. He was great with Margot's occasional stubbornness, as well as with the snow, heat, and rain. Highly recommend!!

Nicholas has walked my dog, Bebe, a few times, and he’s been great every time! He always accommodated my last minute requests, which I really appreciated. He’s also very thoughtful, for example, he towel dried Bebe after walking her in the rain. Bebe seems to really like him, and I’ll definitely be using him again in the future!

Daniel seems like a nice guy! He was kind, and considerate, and gentle with my shy dog that needed it. He was happy to do a quick meetup a few days before our first walk with him. He was communicative, and met or exceeded every expectation I had. I’ll be happy to have Daniel come take care of my Laura again.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
