Your home is peaceful, your pets are happy, and you can tell they have been genuinely cared for. 🐾 Every animal has its own personality, and earning their trust is one of my favorite parts of this work. 🐾 As a home-owner myself, I understand how to manage properties, schedules and routines and how to create a warm, safe environment for your pets. 🐾 Because I work remotely as an author and book editor, I’m able to provide a steady, reassuring presence throughout the day rather than simply stopping in for visits. They aren’t simply looking for someone to feed the pets—they’re looking for complete peace of mind while they’re away. 🐾 Over the past several years I’ve cared for homes and animals in more than ten countries. My experience ranges from city apartments in Boston, Amsterdam, and Paris to historic homes, farms, country cottages, and rural retreats worldwide. 🐾 I’ve cared for rescue animals, blind cats, elderly dogs, anxious pets during thunderstorms and fireworks, post-surgical kittens, and animals requiring medication. I’ve even helped a mother cat give birth. 🐾 Long-term house sitting often involves much more than pet care, and I’m comfortable handling the unexpected with calm professionalism. I’ve managed realtor showings while homeowners were abroad, coordinated with utility workers and neighbors, helped oversee an Airbnb during a plumbing emergency, cared for animals while owners exhibited artwork at an international art fair, and managed the daily operations of farms and historic homes. I enjoy solving problems quietly before they become worries for the people who have entrusted me with their homes. 🐾 Before becoming an editor, I spent twenty years as the spouse of a U.S. Air Force servicemember, an experience that instilled habits of reliability, discretion, punctuality, cleanliness, and adaptability. Living internationally also taught me how to stay calm in unfamiliar situations and make thoughtful decisions when circumstances change unexpectedly.

Caring for someone’s pet also means caring for their home. After more than twenty successful house sits and dozens of five-star reviews, I’ve developed a reputation for being calm, dependable, tidy, and attentive. I follow routines carefully, communicate promptly, and treat every home with the same respect and care I would hope someone would show mine. My goal is always for owners to return to a happy pet and a home that feels exactly as they left it.
Ratings and reviews
We found Jalina on Rover, and needed both a housesitter (water plants, take in mail, etc.) as well as taking care of our pup, Ceci who is used to having some work from home and gets anxious in new spaces. Jalina was exceptional in the lead up to the stay; after a 30min video call to get to know each other and review the space (and the pup), we sent over a reference document in advance with specifics, which she reviewed promptly (and had questions on). We had an hour-long visit a few days in advance, split between going for a walk and going over the fiddly house items, which was great. On the day of departure, she arrived promptly, got settled in, and we went to the airport. We got daily updates on the dog, and Ceci seemed to have a lovely time with her, in her own space and her own routine; Jalina made sure she was very well cared for! Due to a delayed flight, we didn’t have any crossover of us getting back and her leaving, but we coordinated via messaging (super prompt) and we came back to our space just as we left it. Based on this stay with us, we’d recommend Jalina to anyone!
Jalina was a fantastic sitter for our pup. She is a great communicator, sent lots of updates, took her for regular walks, and left our place super clean. Would absolutely recommend Jalina for your petsitting needs!
Jalina and Sean were both fantastic sitters! They provided regular updates and photos/videos, and were attentive and reassuring. It was clear that my dog Bear was very relaxed and happy around them and was being spoilt with love, playtime, and attention. I could relax on my holiday knowing that she was being well taken care of. Jalina and Sean are very genuine and trustworthy and will give you complete peace of mind that everything is well at home whilst you are away. The house was tidy on my return and had been well looked after. I highly recommend them for any pet/housesitting position and I really hope that they can come back again one day for another housesit.
Jalina recently dog sat for our two pups in our home. Jalena was wonderful. I could tell even from our communication that she was kind and caring. She was as wonderful with our two pups. She understood their very different personalities right away and seemed to appreciate them both even though both have their quirks. She took them on frequent and long walks (we can tell because one of them wears a tracking collar). She was great at communicating while we were gone including sending us great pics of our pups. She was generous in timing her departure so our pups would not be alone for long before we got back. She left our house in great shape. I would highly recommend her for any pet care.
Jalina is a caring, trustworthy and experienced sitter. She watched our cats for over a week, sent us regular updates and photos, cared for our garden and left the house in perfect condition. We were traveling with our dogs, so she didn't sit for them, but she interacted with them several times before and after the sit, and she put them immediately at ease. One of our dogs is a shepherd mix, who can sometimes be reactive. Jalina adapted her own behavior to our dog's needs (staying calm but aloof, no eye contact) and our dog quickly got the message that she was one of the pack. I would recommend Jalina without hesitation.
Jalina was a great sitter for our 2 dogs and chickens. She is an animal lover, pays attention to details, is reliable and we couldn't ask for more! I felt totally confident in having her take care of our crew. I highly recommend Jalina.

Schedule
As a freelance book editor and writer, I work remotely and set my own schedule, which allows me to spend plenty of quality time with the pets in my care. Whether I’m writing from the couch with a cat curled beside me or taking regular breaks for walks, playtime, and companionship, your pets will rarely be left alone for long.
