“Ailish is a wonderful sitter!! She took excellent care of our two dogs and home. She is super nice, friendly, and easy to communicate with. I very highly recommend her and will have her sit for us again in the future.”

“Christine watched our dog for a week in our home. She sent regular updates, and we felt confident she was taking great care of our pup. She left the house in excellent condition, and we plan to hire her for our next trip!”

“We had a great experience with Josselyn! She watched our year and a half old husky while we were at work and kept us updated throughout the day. She was very attentive to his potty training needs, took him out often, and took him on a long walk to help get his energy out. She even brought him a special treat after checking with us about allergies, which we really appreciated. He was clearly well cared for, and she will definitely be our go-to sitter!”

“Ana was wonderful with my skittish dog. She took great care of her over the weekend, sent a ton of pictures & even washed the sheets! Ana is also a lovely person, I would definitely book her again!”
“Andrew was an incredible rover- very responsive, responsible and treated our dog with genuine care. We are so grateful for him watching our dog and would highly recommend him to any pet parent!”

“Our dog Penny adores Skylar! We got so many great updates of their cuddles and walks during our 2 weeks away. We already have plans to book Skylar again, and I know Penny will jump for joy when Skylar comes back to our house.”

“We've been using Melissa for dog walking and just had our first overnight sit with her. She is responsive and communicative throughout the process. She takes great care of my dogs. On her first walk, one of my puppies had explosive diarrhea in his crate, and she stay for at least 30 minutes cleaning him and the crate up. She left out house sit with the house in clean condition. I'm very glad to have found someone reliable to watch/walk our two babies!”

About: I've been a go-to pet and house sitter for friends and family for decades, and have lots of experience with pets of many kinds and personalities. I love caring for animals, making sure they're well attended and loved. I've had cats, dogs, and/or rodents for as long as I can remember, and have always really enjoyed interacting with animals. I'm currently between careers, so my schedule is quite flexible. I'm around during the daytime and evenings, and am available to check in on pets more than once a day, if needed. I'm happy to spend time inside or outside with pets, at their homes, or neighborhood walks. I can stay overnight, if needed, and/or am ready to check in on pets more than once in a sitting if they need extra attention.
“Oxana recently watched my 6-year-old dog Clark at my home for an evening and it was a great experience! Oxana was super communicative about when she would be leaving and arriving, sent plenty of photos of Clark throughout the day, who enjoyed multiple walks and playtime. Clark is a reactive dog so typically needs an experienced pet sitter to watch him and Oxana definitely is that! I would definitely book Oxana again to watch my pup!”

“Masi did an amazing job watching out wheaten terrier, Trigo! He hasn't had many dog sitters so he tends to be a little jumpy and nervous at first but Masi knew exactly how to calm him down and make sure he was comfortable. We loved getting the video and photo updates and felt confident that Trigo was in the best of care. Thanks so much!!”

“Amy stayed with our two golden retrievers that we rescued about 9 months ago. We try to be very careful with who we leave them with as they are still adjusting to life with us. Amy did a wonderful job with them, sent me pictures and updates and kept them on their normal routine with walks and feeding. She's very conscientious and wants to follow all instructions. We will definitely use her again!”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better first-time experience with a house sitter! From start to finish, Natalie was incredibly communicative, thoughtful, and proactive. She kept us updated throughout our trip with sweet notes and photos which brought us so much peace of mind while we were away. She followed all of our care instructions to the letter and when we returned home, everything was spotless. It was clear Emmy was well cared for. We’re so grateful to have found someone so dependable and kind. Highly recommend without hesitation!”

“James was an excellent pet sitter and house sitter for us. He took amazing care of our dog and cat, to include over the July 4th weekend where our dog had significant fireworks anxiety. We got daily photos and videos, and its clear James really invested in engaging the animals in games and activities throughout his time caring for them. I think he even taught our dog some new tricks! Our home was returned even cleaner than he found it, which was unnecessarily kind of him. We hope to work with James again!”

“Jess was the best dogsitter we could have asked for!! Sent regular updates, was very responsible and affectionate with our dog Zetti, and even drove her to the dog park when she refused to walk. We are truly spoiled :D thank you Jess!!!”

“This was our third time working with Jennie and she was great as always. She's really sweet and patient with our bulldog, and was able to administer her medication with ease. Her communication was excellent, as we received photos and updates each day. We highly recommend Jennie!”

Absolutely phenomenal dogsitter. Haowen has dog and house sat for us several times, mostly recent for 3 weeks. our pup was loved and cared for, all our instructions were followed and we didn't worry about the house or dog once while we were gone. Highly recommend!!

Lilia was attentive, caring, and communicative during a six day stay with our dog Smokey. She ensured it was a good fit before accepting and was communicative when anything seemed “off” behaviorally with Smokey - both made us feel very confident and comfortable. Came home to a bright happy dog and a clean house! Would highly recommend Lilia.

Kamani was amazing, she stayed with our little princess while we were out of town. We got plenty of photos and videos of Eleven. She took her for a walk every day. Every morning, when we got back, for a few days, Eleven would go take a nap in the spare bedroom where Kamani stayed. I think she missed her.

Jessica was amazing with our 10 month old puppy, Max, while we had to travel across country for a wedding. Jessica shared pictures/videos while we were away and was always great with communication. She is so kind, very respectful of our home and followed care instructions perfectly. She truly went above and beyond. We would absolutely have Jessica take care of our Max again in the future and would recommend her to anyone in need!

I’m torn on giving Mandy and Daniel an honest review, because I’d want to gatekeep them for ourselves! They were absolutely fantastic with our two, 75lb and 65lb large dogs, one of which is a bit over 1 year old and got that puppy energy still. She was also in heat at the time of them watching her, and took the challenge on like a champ! It was literally the HOTTEST weekend of August, and they went on to give them more walks than I even requested! They of course went in the cooler times of the day, and managed the length accordingly to how the dogs were handling the heat. They also spoiled the pups with some homemade boiled chicken, as well as some cute new toys! I’m pretty sure my dogs were sad to have us back, cuz they took such great care of them. They left the house spotless, and even stripped the linens for us. Gosh, dunno what I did to deserve these angels but I really hope they’ll be back to watch our fur babies again!

Alicia watched dog at my home while I was at my wedding, everyone who I usually have watch her was also at my wedding. She was so amazing, It felt so good knowing my dog was in such good hands. She sent so many pup dates and was just absolutely lovely. She stayed at my house and left it so clean and my dog was so happy and loved her so much!

Manuel is amazing! He is responsive and very attuned to our pets! He communicates proactively: for instance, I accidentally forgot to leave out extra food and he noticed days in advance that we were running low. When we had to delay our return, Manuel was flexible and extended his stay with our cats. Our pets had a great time with him and we are very grateful!

Jhonatan was great with our pup James Bond. He was available for a somewhat last minute booking and even stayed an extra night when our flight was cancelled. Super appreciate his flexibility and kindness and we got so many great daily updates and photos. Would definitely book again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Malden walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Malden maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Malden choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
