About: Hello! My name is Kayala, and I am a college student from Somerville, Massachusetts. I have been cat sitting for the past seven years and have had cats and bunnies my entire life. I have multiple regular cat sitting clients in the Somerville, Cambridge, Boston area that I have maintained through the years. I am a friendly and trustworthy person, and I make sure to treat pets with respect and love while also taking care of all of their needs. I have a cat in Somerville named Violet, and a bunny named Loretta who stays with me in my dorm during the school year. I'm known for loving my pets more than anything, and have tattoos for both of them! They are my girls, and my most divine companions. I deeply understand the strength of the bond between you and your kitties <3. I know it can be stressful to leave your kitties in the care of a stranger, but I make sure to send photos and updates! I am also happy to meet with you in person, learn about any special care instructions and preferences, and make sure you and your kitties are comfortable. I am an excellent pet snuggler (known for making cats, dogs, goats, and pigs fall asleep in my arms!), but am also always very aware of an animal's body language. It is so important to respect their boundaries! I have experience giving oral medication, inhalers, critical care (liquid food for rabbits), and subcutaneous injections. I am in Somerville for holidays and school breaks (summer and winter), where pet care is a prioritized commitment for me. I take same day bookings, as long as I am in town! I have extensive experience with cat sitting and have been running my "business" independently for the past seven years in the Boston area. I am the sole caregiver for my bunny, Loretta, and have had bunnies and cats my entire life. When I stop by for my visits, I give attention for a minimum of 25 minutes and meet them where they are. If they want to cuddle, I am open arms! If they want to play, I've got plenty of tricks up my sleeve. If they are scared of my new presence, I will sit thoughtfully and move at their pace to make them as comfortable as possible. I always send photos and updates to pet parents when I see their babies!
“Stephanie was wonderful for a one week stay with our pup again! The house was in pristine condition and Stephanie even went above and beyond to help us move our car when construction was happening on our street. I’d book with her any time!”

“Ilse was wonderful watching our pets - particularly our anxious dog - over Fourth of July weekend. Super communicative and comfortable giving our pup meds. Even noticed our plants were getting scorched in the heat and needed some refreshment! Will definitely inept be calling her in the future.”

“Rachael once again took great care of our 3 dogs for us. One of our dogs this time was sick and had a potty accident. Rachael notified us and was so understanding. She cleaned up the mess and made us feel like our dogs were in great hands. Thank you Rachael!”

“Amy was truly wonderful! She watched my notoriously anxious and stubborn 3-year-old Aussie, Maggie, for a weekend and handled her with so much patience and care. She exudes kindness and was extremely attentive to Maggie’s needs. It’s clear Amy genuinely cares about the dogs she works with and takes the time to understand their individual personalities. Amy was incredibly communicative (& sent photos!) and reliable from the moment I messaged her, and I always felt fully informed and at ease while she was caring for Maggie. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dependable and caring sitter — Maggie and I can’t wait to book with her again!”

“Devon house-sat and looked after our two dogs on August 11/12, 2025. Devon's great! Very kind with our dogs, speedy with communications, and conscientious with taking care of everything just right. We wholeheartedly recommend Devon to take care of your pets and/or house-sit for you! Thanks Devon!”

“Sam was wonderful with my shy, anxious pup. Sam took it slow and Fern really warmed up to her. I got a very detailed report from Sam at the end of the weekend. I came home to a happy pup & a spotless home.”

“Sydney was a great overnight sitter. Very flexible in terms of doing a meet and great, and very communicative about letting me know how things were going. She also treated the space very well, and cleaned/organized prior to her departure/my return. Would definitely work with Sydney again for future needs!”

“Kristina is absolutely amazing. Truly. She stayed with my adult husky in my condo, and was just fantastic. Amazing updates, super kind and thoughtful. Highly recommended! Thank you, Kristina!!”

About: I worked at a humane society and worked with many dogs of all sizes and breeds. Helped to socialize them; took them for walks/hikes, went for car rides, got them comfortable being outdoors. I also dog sat for friends and family throughout the years. Very comfortable with giving medications and taking care of special needs dogs (grew up with a dog that required seizure medication and had frequent seizures). As a college student I have a fairly flexible schedule. My weekends are completely free and I have more than a couple hours free during the weekday in the mornings and evenings (as well as some time during the middle of the day if I’m not in class). I grew up in a home where dogs were family members. We were very comfortable with them being indoor and outdoor pets. We would go for hikes, walks/runs (was fairly active to help the dogs release their energy) and would also relax together indoors. Will crate as needed for dog and family comfort or will just hang out on a sofa and read a book for company for the pet. Since I’m used to caring for a high maintenance dog that required special attention, I can clean up accidents and administer medications if needed (with lots of approved treats)
“Aaron was a lifesaver. I had a last-minute situation where I had to travel. Essentially, with very little notice, I needed somebody who could commit to staying the entire day with my dog, Lulu. No problem for Aaron. He did everything I asked of him. And you can tell that he loves animals. I’m recommending him to my neighbors who often need a dog walker. I would definitely hire Aaron again. He is 100% reliable. Don’t hesitate for a second, if you need a sitter/walker. Aaron is outstanding!”

“Anastasia was amazing with our two dogs! She was very communicative, kept us updated on how they were doing, and took great care of our home. We’ll definitely be using her again!”

“This was my first time using Rover and I have a newly adopted anxious rescue so I was super stressed about it, but Alice took great care of my dog and sent many updates. Alice was patient and understanding with my dog and gave her the space to warm up.”

“Adrien stayed at my home to watch my dog and everything was perfect. She was responsive and my dog was very calm and happy when I got home. I would definitely hire Adrien again.”

“Alicia was absolutely amazing with our pup! She was super communicative, on time, and sent so many pictures and detailed updates multiple times a day, which gave us so much peace of mind. We haven’t left our dog with someone new in a long time, so we were naturally a little nervous, but we felt completely secure knowing our pup was in her care. It made such a difference to see how happy and well cared for our dog was. We will definitely be booking with her again!”

“Aubrey was wonderful! She took great care of our dog Tiny. Tiny can be nervous around strangers but Aubrey took the time to meet Tiny before the stay and was patient with her which was so great. She left our house very tidy and sent us updates and pictures of Tiny during the stay. We will definitely ask Aubrey again if we need a sitter. Thank you so much!”

“Alyssa watched our young husky for the day while we were at work and did a great job! She kept us updated, kept him occupied, took him out often since he’s still potty training, and gave him a nice long walk. It was incredibly reassuring knowing he was being well cared for”

Brandy took wonderful care of my senior dog, Bunny, and I couldn't have asked for a better sitter. She was incredibly communicative throughout the visit and sent lots of photos and updates, which gave me so much peace of mind. It's clear she genuinely cares about the dogs she watches, and she was so attentive to Bunny's needs as an older dog. I came home to a happy, well-cared-for pup, and I would absolutely book with Brandy again. Highly recommend!

Great experience! Masiel took wonderful care of our two dogs over July 4th (and gave them some special love around fireworks!). Came super prepared to the meet and greet, took good care of our home and provided us lots of updates while we were gone. Our boys loved her!

Amanda was absolutely amazing taking care of our dog, Millie and our cat, Dobby for a week. From the moment we left, she checked in regularly with updates and photos, which gave us so much peace of mind. Her communication was excellent throughout our trip, and it was clear she genuinely cared about our pets. When we came home, Dobby and Millie were happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. It was obvious they had received plenty of love and attention while we were away. I would hire Amanda again without hesitation and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and reliable pet sitter!

I was apprehensive about leaving my 14+ year old corgi for a week and a half and have been avoiding traveling anywhere I can’t take her for the past couple years. I was so glad to find Lilia and she did a fantastic job. In our meet and greet, she asked many insightful and detailed questions about caring for Lexi, took detailed notes, and Lexi took to her very quickly. As Lexi is senior and has a few quirks, I would only have been comfortable leaving her with someone very experienced and capable in caring for animals, and that was clear from our initial meeting. Lexi had a FANTASTIC time while I was gone. I received daily updates with photos of Lexi on adventures and clearly having a great time. Lilia was also careful to ask me about anything that seemed out of the ordinary in Lexi’s behavior - mostly senior dog quirks I had forgotten to mention but it was reassuring that I certainly would have heard about anything more serious. Lilia was also extremely courteous when it came to my apartment. I am so grateful to Lilia for the excellent care she took of Lexi, allowing me to really travel for the first time in years. My only concern while traveling was that Lexi looked like she was having so much fun that she would be disappointed about me returning home! I will have to find another excuse to travel soon so Lexi can spend more time with her new friend.

Gabriel was great. He gave constant updates, our cats were extremely happy with him and he asked great questions to make sure everything went smoothly. When we got back from our trip our house looked as though no one was even there. He kept everything so clean. Would highly recommend for in home stay or visits.
Olivia took wonderful care of our dogs, Bruiser and Max, this weekend! She was incredibly responsive from start to finish, communicated consistently, and sent frequent updates with photos that gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It was clear our pups were happy, comfortable, and well cared for the entire time. We really appreciated how attentive and reliable she was, and we wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again. Highly recommend Olivia to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter!

Grace did a wonderful job taking care of our dog Mochi overnight. Mochi is a rescue who is anxious around strangers and easily frightened by almost anything, so we always feel a little bad leaving her with a sitter. Grace was so kind and gentle with her. We also really appreciate the effort she put into making the whole process smooth and easy for us.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Cambridge walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Cambridge maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cambridge choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Cambridge. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
