He was in constant communication with me and my family around her care, went out of his way to ensure she had three walks and plenty of play time each day and made sure her scheduled walks, medication, and feeding times remained structured for the 2.5 weeks I was traveling. Izzy is a very loving dog but does require a confident handler with advanced knowledge given her working dog temperament and Marcus adapted to her needs seamlessly. Would recommend and rebook without hesitation (in fact we already have) and was grateful to have him for our extended sit. It allowed me to travel with sustained peace of mind and I returned home to a VERY happy and pampered dog who seemed less excited by my return than she was disappointed by Marcus’ departure!”

About: I am a recent Simmons School of Library and Information Science graduate, work part time at a library the afternoons, and have been a part of the Somerville (Union Sq.) community since 2023. I've been walking dogs and caring for pets here and there since 2018, and regularly since summer 2025. My experience includes cats ages 1.5-16, dogs ages 10 months-15.5 years, and one rabbit, but open to watching other house pets with instructions. I am able to handle low-moderate difficulty dogs of all sizes, some reactivity ok. I have regular clients that I see for walks, in-house visits, and overnight stays. I am cat and dog first aid and CPR certified and for cats I am able to administer pills and inhalers (no injections). I love all animals, but have found that I am able to befriend most cats in particular. I am communicative with clients, and can send daily photos and pet reports upon request. I look forward to working with you and your pets! Outside of work and my current clients, I am typically available in the mornings 9:30-10:30 or earlier, evenings 5 or later MTW, 6:30 or later Thurs, and 3:30 or later on Fridays. I am able to travel about 30 min by walking or public transit from Union Sq. in the mornings, 30 min by walking or transit from Harvard Sq. or Union Sq. in the evenings, and will consider further locations on Friday afternoons and weekends (probably an hour from Union Sq. max.) I do not offer boarding in my home, but I have done multiple drop-in visits and overnight stays for cats, dogs, and a rabbit. I am tidy and respectful of the homes I visit, and am careful to leave doors locked when I am out. I am communicative and notify pet owners immediately if there are any issues or concerns.

“We found Jalina on Rover, and needed both a housesitter (water plants, take in mail, etc.) as well as taking care of our pup, Ceci who is used to having some work from home and gets anxious in new spaces. Jalina was exceptional in the lead up to the stay; after a 30min video call to get to know each other and review the space (and the pup), we sent over a reference document in advance with specifics, which she reviewed promptly (and had questions on). We had an hour-long visit a few days in advance, split between going for a walk and going over the fiddly house items, which was great. On the day of departure, she arrived promptly, got settled in, and we went to the airport. We got daily updates on the dog, and Ceci seemed to have a lovely time with her, in her own space and her own routine; Jalina made sure she was very well cared for! Due to a delayed flight, we didn’t have any crossover of us getting back and her leaving, but we coordinated via messaging (super prompt) and we came back to our space just as we left it. Based on this stay with us, we’d recommend Jalina to anyone!”

About: [Dogs] Since 2021, I’ve dedicated myself to fostering rescue dogs and have gained valuable experience caring for dogs of different breeds, sizes, and ages. During that time, I helped train and housebreak many rescue dogs and puppies, supporting their transition into safe and loving permanent homes. [Cats] Since 2023, I’ve also been caring for cats and have truly enjoyed the experience. I lived with my foster cat as his primary caregiver for two years before he safely reunited with his family in good health. I still occasionally catsit for him even now. I genuinely look forward to meeting and caring for more cats in the future! I work full-time during the weekdays. Wednesday through Friday usually works best for me, but I am flexible! Feel free to ask about my availability. Ensuring safety is always my top priority, and I will carefully follow your guidance to create a secure and comfortable environment for your pet. When pets stay at my place, they can enjoy a calm and relaxing atmosphere, as I currently do not have any pets of my own. (I previously cared for a foster cat who has since happily reunited with his family.) This allows visiting pets to feel comfortable without stress from other animals in the home.
