I fostered many dogs in NYC (and adopted one), fostered in Boston too, and adopted a rescue five years ago. I also regularly look after friends' dogs and cats when they travel. I love house sitting because pets are happiest in their own space with their usual routine. I'll stick to their schedule and send plenty of photo updates. When I house sit, I'll bring in your mail and packages, water your plants, keep things tidy, and watch for anything that needs attention. I have a very flexible schedule both weekly and weekends. I can definitely stay overnight - I understand pets need and like to be home as much as possible. I will keep to your pets’ routine as much as possible. I know that all pets hate their routine to be broken. Each pet is different so I will cater to each pets needs.

I make sure they get plenty of exercise through walks and playtime, stick to their regular feeding schedule, and always have fresh water available. I pay close attention to each dog's individual personality and needs, some want lots of active play, others just want a calm lap to curl up on, and I adjust accordingly. I live alone in a large, pet-friendly apartment, so your dog gets my full, undivided attention with no other pets or people to compete for it. One of the best perks: I have access to a huge fenced in rooftop, perfect for safe, off-leash running and play, a real treat for dogs who have lots of energy to burn. I also live across from a park with a big grass area. For walks and drop-in visits at a client's home, I follow whatever routine and instructions the owner provides, feeding times, medication, favorite walking routes, or specific commands, to keep things as consistent as possible for the dog.

“We can not say enough good about Luis and the care he took of our two pets: Baloo (a 4 year old hound dog) and Soupbelly ( a 8 month ish old kitten). We were out of the country for a little over three weeks in which Luis attended to every need of both pets. In addition to the usual care, he also took Baloo to nearby off leash parks, which is his favorite thing to do. In addition to graciously sharing his bed with both pets he spoiled them with treats and outings and kept us up to date with lots of pictures, which were so appreciated. Being so far away, it was a relief to know our pets were so well cared for and loved in our absence. And last but not least, he took great care of our house which was an added bonus!”
