“Mirabel always sends great updates and photos! She has taken care of our dog and 2 cats a couple of times, and they are always happy and healthy when we return!”

“Zilalai is a 5-star pet sitter! She took excellent care of my cats and my home. I appreciate that she read the instructions and kept the pets on their usual schedule. Zilalai was also very reliable. She went above and beyond by handling a blizzard and an unexpected plumbing issue with ease. She also left the house tidy. I am hoping Zilalai can come back to cat sit again during my next trip. With Zilalai on the job, I can truly relax and know the pets and house are in good hands. Thank you, Zilalai! 😻”

“Victoria did a great job with Freya (who can be very shy and anxious with new people). She kept me updated with pics and texts throughout the session. I would definitely trust her to watch Freya again!”

“Olivia was great! We were new to town and didn't know what we were going to do with our pets when we decided to go out of town for Christmas. Olivia came over to meet us and our pets before we left. Olivia was so sweet and kind, the animals took to her right away which put us at ease about leaving them. She took great care of our dog & cat and sent pics everyday to update us! We will definitely be using her again when we go out of town.”

“We were leaving our puppy alone with someone for the first time since we got him, and Anastasia made us feel good and confident about that! She was thoughtful, accommodating and loving towards my dog, and I appreciated her communication with me throughout the day!”

“Marcus was wonderful with my GSD Izzy! She took to him immediately and he showered her with attention to her unabashed delight. He was prompt, reliable and responsive.”

“Emily was so great with my cat! She paid a lot of attention to his behaviors and I could see he was having a good time when she sent update photos. We booked her for housesitting, and she did a perfect job. Would recommend her!”

“Brooke is a lifesaver for us! We had an unexpected family trip and we needed someone to house-sit with our Basset Hound for a weekend. Our dog has glaucoma, and so is blind. And she has had some back surgery in recent months that require careful attention to detail in terms of not stressing out the dog's back (no jumping, no falling, no big missteps on stairs, etc.). The combination can leave some to feel intimidated about her care. Brooke jumped right in and helped. She showed up about an hour early to do a walk through of our place and to do some practice walking of our dog and to understand feeding, meds, and the like. She bonded immediately with our dog and it was clear she was comfortable with her. While we were away, Brooke sent many photos and notes just to reassure us. Our dog was doing her usual stuff, which meant she was relaxed and enjoyed Brooke's company. Brooke waiting until we were back in our place to give us a final report before she headed out. We would highly recommend Brooke for house-sitting / dog-sitting, even in some complicated circumstances.”

“Spencer was a godsend! He house sat my anxious, reactive dog Java for 4 days while I was on vacation. He was punctual and incredibly flexible. He sent regular updates, followed my care instructions perfectly, was patient as my dog warmed up to him. I would call Spencer again for any future sitting needs!”

“Eve recently house sat for us and took great care of our two 4-yr old kitties. She was great with daily updates and pictures and was proactive with questions. We returned to happy kitties and a clean home. We’d definitely use Eve again!”

“She was very kind and caring with my two older boys, Desmond, the cat, and Melvin, the dog. Both Mel and Des warmed up to her very quickly. I received regular updates and couldn’t ask for a better petsitter.”

“Raul has stayed with our cat, Flopsi, twice now. I can happily say my cat and I were comforted by the care and attention Raul showed him over both visits. Raul has a gentle, calm nature that helps put even a nervous boy like my Flops at ease. Raul also took great care of our home, keeping it clean and tidy. We’re so happy we found such a reliable, responsible sitter for Flops. We already plan to have Raul back for a longer stay during an upcoming trip.”

“Amy has done a great job taking care of our two cats and our house. This is the third time she's stayed here, and we plan to hire her again. She clearly loves cats, and we can tell our guys like her too.”

“Anna took wonderful care of our puppy Semmie while we were away. She was clearly attentive and gentle with her. Semmie was happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for the whole time. Anna also communicated really well throughout, and she even took the initiative to come by beforehand to meet Semmie and get to know her before the sit started, which gave us so much peace of mind. It’s obvious Anna genuinely loves dogs and treats them like her own. We felt completely at ease knowing Semmie was in such good hands, and we’ll definitely be booking Anna again for future pet sitting!”

“We are incredibly grateful to Ailise for taking such wonderful care of our dog, Pepe, over a long weekend. From the moment we met her, it was clear that she genuinely cares for animals, and she treated Pepe with so much love, attention, and patience. She kept us updated throughout her stay with thoughtful messages and photos, which gave us great peace of mind while we were away. It was clear that Pepe felt comfortable and happy in her care. Ailise was also extremely respectful of our home and she went above and beyond to ensure things were just as we left them. We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter and would absolutely trust Ailise to look after Pepe again in the future. Highly recommended!”

“Kristina was wonderful with our bernadoodle puppy! She gave us a few updates throughout the night, followed all instructions we left regarding her bathroom routine etc and also sent amazing pictures! Will definitely book her again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Brookline
My elderly kitty was in very good hands with Valeria, who showered her with attention and care. I came home to a well-looked after cat who seemed calm and happy. It was the first time I hired an overnight/house sitter, due to my cat's medication needs, and Valeria was great - she administered my cat's meds, left the house clean and in good order, and most importantly, I could tell she took excellent care of my pet. I would definitely recommend her/hire her again.

Helena gave outstanding care to my cat Otis while we were away for 2 weeks. She stayed in my home and not only did she give love, attention and grooming to my fluffy himalayan cat, but she took care or my home in a conscientious, responsible manner. There were various vendors and issues that came up and Helena responded immediately and had great follow up. Otis was happy and relaxed when we got home and the house was immaculate. Do not hesitate to hire Helena. She allowed me to have a great vacation and not worry about Otis or my house.

Georgia was so great with my 5 cats during a holiday that I recently took!! She was very understanding of each of their needs, asked great questions during our meet/greet and genuinely cared about each of the cats! They loved her! She did a wonderful job taking care of my place as well! So so happy with the visit! Will absolutely book again!
I would highly recommend Lindsy to take care of your pets! She is very diligent in making sure she has a pre-visit and that she thoroughly understands your pet’s needs/routines. Lindsy was highly responsive and always provided us updates. She was also really flexible in adapting to Zoey when she had a bit of anxiety. Felt super comfortable leaving Zoey in her care!

Stacy spent 10 days with our 2 pups and did such a an amazing job with taking care of them and our home! She took the time to learn about them and their routines and once we left she would send updates on how everything was going everyday. Once we got back from our trips our pups looked so well taken care of and our home was impeccable!

Diane is a true professional. She's dogsat for us for several years and handles all our dog's quirks and anything else that comes up with good humor and stellar communication. Couldn't be more comfortable leaving our pup in her capable hands when we go out of town.

Ella did a truly wonderful job taking care of Cathy for us! She was friendly and helpful and flexible and sent daily adorable pictures of Cathy with updates which gave us such piece of mind while we were away. Everything was in great shape upon our return and we will definitely request her help again!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Brookline on Rover is $49.95 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of September 2026, there are 6,532 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Brookline. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Brookline walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Brookline maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Brookline choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Brookline. On Rover:

- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
