About: I owned dogs all my life and have taken sole responsibility for caring for my own pets and have petsat numerous times. I love to get outside with dogs and interact with them:) Available mornings or afternoons, whatever works best for you! I am looking for recurring or one-time-only jobs, a couple days a week or part time I always use a leash to let the pet outside and on walks. I can crate your dog if needed and provide them a space to play.
“Maria took great care of my cat Theodore! Loved all the photos she included from her visit with him while I was away and she was excellent at communicating any questions she had.”

“She was very good and everything was in order when we got back from our trip. She sent updates and never had any problems/missed a visit to feed our cat. Would book again!”

About: I often take care of my friends’ pets while they are away. These are mostly small dogs and cats but love every size and type of animal. I love researching different breeds to ensure they get the best care that they need! I currently work full time in the Seaport weekdays from 7am-3pm. I live close by in South Boston and commute daily by either walking or biking. I’m mostly interested in walking. My apartment is small so I would only be able to care for small animals for a short period of time.
“Ainsley was fantastic with our in home visits with our dog Tuukka. She always sent me pictures and was great with responding in a timely manner. Thank you Ainsley!”

“Our pets are never really happy when we are away (particularly now that they're used to us being home 24/7) but they were in excellent hands. Catherine is responsive and took good care of my little menagerie over the holiday weekend. We will definitely use her services again when we go out of town next.”
“We left for 2 weeks for our vacation and Chandler did a splendid job! She was very punctual and very communicative and she took many photos of our pets. She also did a wonderful job cleaning my Guinea pig’s cage! We are very grateful to have her. You and your fur babies will feel very happy to have Chandler as your sitter.”

“Kyle was awesome! Will totally book again. He took great care of Ham and was very communicative the entire time. He’s so nice and trusting. I wasn’t worried about Ham at all because I knew he was being well taken care of!”

“Jenica was amazing and so kind!! She took such good care of my cat Goose, sent lots of pictures and updates, and I had peace of mind knowing he was in good care. 10/10 would love for her to take care of him again!”

About: Dedicated to providing reliable, safe, and personalized dog walking services and pet care for your four-legged family members, of all sizes. I have owned pets since I was 8 years old and I’ve been walking dogs and caring for pets since 1995, with a deep respect for their well-being. Your pet’s happiness, health, and safety are my top priorities — they deserve the very best! I’m a work from home professional that is an animal lover, and I don’t feel like my schedule allows me to have a pet of my own. While not traveling for work a few days out of the month, I’d love to make sure your four-legged family members have a reliable and caring solution while you occasionally cannot be with them. Happy to answer any questions! I have several references I can provide from folks in the immediate Boston area where I have cared for their pets while they are out of town for work demands in the short term or when they need to be in the office. Happy to be flexible between the midday hours and allow you to have a last minute or a fairly regular solution to your pets care needs.
“Katherine was genuinely kind with my cat such that my cat became friend with her so quickly and completely. Also, Katherine followed my instructions accurately which made me confident that my cat had a great visit.”

“Samantha has been amazing. From our initial meet and greet to multiple visits with my kitten, she has been thoroughly communicative, polite, and professional. She has great attention to detail and went above and beyond in providing updates. She even put the cat food away neater than I had left it for her. As a first time pet parent, I felt very comforted that my cat was in kind and safe hands. Beyond feeding, I mainly wanted a companion for my kitten as she is young, and Samantha played with all her favorite toys with her. I’d trust her with anyone’s pet, and I can’t wait to use her services again. Thank you Samantha!”

“We had just moved to Boston and needed a needed a dog-sitter on short notice for our Great Dane pup, Gordon, and David crushed it! He is super-patient and confident with our big boy and expertly communicative. David will always be our “go to!””

“Lisa checked in on my cat Keke on short notice and was wonderful! She gave detailed updates with lots of photos and I came back to a healthy happy cat! I could tell Keke loved playing with her! I highly recommend Lisa for your pet care needs. Thank you!”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - South Boston
Karina did drop-ins for our 2 cats while we were away for a few days and she was awesome! Very quick to respond, provided lots of photos and updates. Our cats warmed up to her very quickly which was huge! You can tell she really loves cats and has a lot of experience caring for them. Will definitely be booking her for future pet sitting needs!

We were so fortunate to have Katherine’s help with our cat while we were out of town. She sent us updates every day while playing with our cat and gave him plenty of attention while he was on his own. She was very understanding as well of our need to lock one door and use another. She also made sure the water was refilled before leaving. Recommended!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in South Boston. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
