“My sitter got sick and Jim stepped up very last minute to watch Freddie and was so wonderful. Very communicative and sweet with Freddie. His dog is super cute too! It’s always a little nerve racking using someone new, but I felt very comfortable leaving Fred with Jim. He also seemed to have a good time and was nice and calm when I picked him up. I would highly recommend Jim!”

“Luna really enjoyed her stay with Ardelia. We have a special needs dog and Ardelia was very understanding and helpful. We would definitely work with Ardelia again.”

“I was a Nervous parents because it’s first time to use rover but it turns out great experience . Our puppy Totori get to meet good dog friends and bond with Daria as soon as he met her Totori didn’t want to leave her place after day care and that tells us everything ! I will definitely ask her to take care of my puppy again”

“Tiffany and Steve took such great care of Cooper. They sent a lot of pictures throughout the day. They also trained him and played with him. And followed his routine with walks, meal time and snacks. They made sure Cooper felt at home. I’m glad I found them on Rover. I was at ease as Cooper is generally anxious of meeting new people, but he settled in very well with them.”

About: I’ve been a dog lover my whole life, growing up with all kinds of dogs, from bulldogs to german shepherds. I’m good with high and low energy dogs of all sizes, supplying pets, walks, and treats to make your pups forget how much they miss you! I’m especially experienced with senior dogs and the extra care they require, especially those with limited mobility. Because I work from home your pups will rarely be alone, which helps me stay on top of potty breaks, playtime, and any other needs your pets have! Because I work from home, I am able to take close care of your furry friends. I do like to go to the gym in the morning for about an hour, but am usually in one spot for the rest of the day so your pets won’t be alone and can have all their needs met. I’m happy to take breaks to walk/play. I am very respectful and comfortable in new environments and am happy to work with you and your pet’s needs. I’ve mostly pet-sat in other peoples homes in my hometown, so I am very used to following the guidelines you are comfortable with. I am easily reachable and responsive, and like to send check in photos at your convenience!

“Emily is so sweet and Evie absolutely loved her! She can be a little skittish and she was immediately at peace with Emily and their sweet dog Auggie. Emily communicated so well and went above and beyond to make the day smooth. I really appreciated it!”

“Anastasia did an amazing job looking after Pearl! Traveling from out of state and she made me feel so comfortable leaving Pearl for the day when I needed to work. Took loads of photos to keep me updated. Will definitely be booking again when back in Boston.”

About: I’ve always had dogs in my life. I grew up beside them and learned how to care for them at a very early age. I have experience with many different breeds, sizes, personalities, ages; from dogs who were my family, from my friend’s dogs to dogs belonging to people in my local community. Since I’ve been living in Boston for almost a year now, I have scouted out great routes to walk dogs to local spots for play and enjoyment, especially in nature. Special skills include dog breed knowledge, basic commands training, clicker training, animal welfare, and basic wilderness first aid training. I work from home 70% of the time and my schedule is wonderfully quite flexible. I am able to meet basic needs like potty breaks or walks and easily adjust my routine around the dog’s needs. I have worked with many different dog personalities and characteristics before and can take care of your dog however needed. I allow dogs on the bed and couch, have plenty of treats on hand, have many pet friendly locations nearby to take them, etc.
“Cindy was amazing with our dog Gia today. This was our first time with her, and our dog was already comfortable with her. Cindy was extremely communicative, professional, and sent many progress photos through the day. She was so loving and caring with our puppy, we will definitely be using her help again. Highly recommend her!”

“If I could leave 10 stars, I would. Greta was absolutely AMAZING. Great communication, and an extremely happy pup when I picked her up. Thank you so much Greta for taking care of my Gracie as if she were your own.”

“Patricia did a great job taking care of our poodle Beau. When we met it was clear that she was very knowledgeable about dogs, and our dog warmed up to her instantly. Highly recommended and we look forward to having her take care of him in the future!”

“Our other dog sitter cancelled last minute and Jhona was able to step in and take very great care of our dog! Roo had fun walks and playtime and we got photos and updates during his stay. Will book again”

About: I’ve been a dog lover my entire life and have always loved having dogs around. I recently moved away from my family dog, Higgins, who is truly my best friend. I walked, cared for, and looked after him, so I know how much our pets mean to us. I’ve also spent many years dog sitting for close friends and caring for dogs with all different personalities. I’m very active and love being outside, going for walks, and exploring the city. I’d love the opportunity to give your pup the same love, attention, and care! I work from home 5 days a week with a fairly flexible schedule and plenty of time to give a dog the attention and care they need. I live alone and already love spending the down time in my days getting outside, going on walks, and exploring the city, so having a pup along fits naturally into my routine. I’d love to use my flexibility to help pet parents who may not have the same ability during the day, while giving their dog some extra exercise, attention, and companionship! I live alone in a cozy apartment, so I can keep a close eye on your pup throughout the day. I keep my space very clean and have no other pets, so your dog can feel comfortable and have my full attention. My building has a dog park onsite, with another dog park just a short walk away, giving us plenty of options to get outside and exercise. I’m a very trustworthy, responsible, and honest person, and I’ll treat your pet and your home with the same care and respect I would want for my own!

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Boston
Peter and Jessi were fantastic with Bandit. They were incredibly accommodating and communicative throughout the week, and it was clear they really understood his unique needs and personality as a Shiba. I felt completely comfortable leaving him in their care, and every pickup he seemed happy, relaxed, and well taken care of. Would absolutely recommend them and will definitely be reaching out again!

Complete this river review for me: Kaitlyn was excellent! She accommodated me last minute and was extremely communicative with me. Before booking, she hopped on a call with me so I could explain how to care for my pet. She kept me updated during the entirety of my booking by sending me pics, videos, and texts to let me know how my dog was doing. When I picked up my dog she was happy and healthy. I cannot recommend Kaitlyn enough and I’ll definitely rebook with her :)

Daria was amazing! She sent us tons of pictures of Dakiti throughout the day, and he looked so happy in every single one. She and Kova were the perfect match for Dakiti's energy, exactly what he needed. We can't thank Daria enough, and we'll definitely be booking with her again!

I felt so anxious dropping Nova off with an individual sitter for the first time. Even though it was a shorter afternoon care visit, Sreeya was very sweet and allowed me to see her place and backyard area where Nova would be staying. She sent me photos of Nova and assured me she did great. We will look to book with Sreeya again!

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Boston commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
